[XT1032, GPe] App permissions broken. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moto Ggpe XT1032, Android 4.4.4.
Gday all!
My moto G is now moto broken. I'm not sure what happened, but I think some important files are now owned by the wrong user. The steps that I took are as follows. My phone crashed and rebooted, at that point omniswitch lost system user permissions, not the first time. So I proceeded to reboot into twrp, wipe cache and davlik, and i also fixed permissions while I was at it since the Google play services have been crashing for some time. Once I rebooted, the system user permissions, well, didn't. At this point Xposed, Google play framework and omniswitch are all broken. /system/<app|bin|lib|framework> are owned by root as well as the files inside. All are RWXR-XR-X. I'm I missing anything?

What are the set permissions for your apks? They must be rw-r-r ...BTW what do you mean by broken? Are they force closing or what?

The system apps don't act like system apps. Google play reports an unknown error, omniswitch says it can't get system app permissions even though it's installed to /system/app and even after reinstalling Xposed, I cant access the framework. I'll try setting the permissions as rw-r-r

Well, I chmoded the system apps. No luck.

Try flashing ur custom Rom again. If that too doesn't help u out then u have no option but to clear everything and reflash your official firmware

Alright. Wipe and pave it is! Thanks

[Q] Application Google service framework force close after rooting

Hi everyone
After rooting my Nook tablet, I keep getting the popup "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly" every time I reboot. I have to choose "Force close" it.This is so annoying.
Do you guys have any idea how to fix it ?
Thank you
I haven't seen it on the Nook, but I was getting it on the Iconia A500. Turn off all syncing on your Accounts and then re-enable a service at a time until you figure out which one is causing the issue.
In my case, it was web syncing, however that's not an option on the Nook (I don't think).
Make sure you have
ContactsProvider.apk and
CalendarProvider.apk
in the /system/app folder

I have both of these installed in that location and I still get force close after reboot each time. It doesn't affect anything so I haven't worried about it.

I'm getting the same "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly" after a reboot. I followed the steps in the first post on rooting the Nook Tablet. Everything seems to work OK except for Google Talk, that force closes.
I also have the files that suggested.

I am having this same issue. Any help or suggestions other than confirming the .apks are in place.
Thanks.
I'm also having the issue but I haven't noticed any ill affects other than it is a little annoying
Here’s my framework apk, I am not sure if it will solve your FC problem.
You can use ES File Explorer to do this; it’s free from the market. You have to enable Root Explorer and Mount File System as writable in the Settings. In the Directory Settings, change current directory to “/”, without the quotation. Click back to main screen, click on the Star button, and click Home.
Copy the framework apk to /system/app/ and override the existent framework apk.
To set permission, just go to apk Properties by holding on the apk and scrolled down to Properties.
Has anybody tried to use succulent's google framework file or figured out another way to fix this problem? I've tried a factory restore by doing 8+ failed boots and re-rooted the device, installing gapps with Indirect's root method and I still immediately get the force close each time the tablet restarts.
How do you disable syncing for contacts/calander for the nook? I couldn't find that so I didn't try that method yet.
Are the permissions correct for it? rw-r--r--?

I am having the same trouble as the others. I tried your file and am still having the same problem.
I factory restored last night and re-rooted. No fc on startup now. It must be something I did later.
I downloaded the newest version, after searching google for it. I was able to install the new one fine, and now it is working fine. I beleive its the same version that was installed when I rooted last night, that one just wouldnt reinstall.

Any chance you could share where you got this? I see lots of results for GoogleServicesFramework.apk, but none that look anywhere near official.

Same problem cropped up for me.
Fixed it by clearing data for Google Services Framework: Settings...ApplicationSettings...ManageApplications...All...GoogleServicesFramework...ClearData
After reboot, all was well.

Well....
After a few more reboots, the problem returned. Cleard by fixing permissions in CWM recovery under advanced menu. Rebooted twice. All is well (fingers crossed).

[Q] CM7.2 RC1 and Google Play

So I jumped on the cyanogen colored band wagon. Don't' get me wrong, this is the ROM I've been waiting for. Only now I am having issues. Google Play (formerly Marketplace) force closes every time i start it up.
I've done the required, check to see that English (united states) is set. Even did a wipe dalvik from CWM. so far Play has not responded to my advances. I was wanting to get it back up and running cause with out it, I don't' have Gmail, Google Maps, and a few other apps I use.
My atrix timeline:
Bought the phone with Froyo on it, and used this guide to unlock and root. Then I installed Alien ROM 4 to my device to get me to Gingerbread (2.3.4.) I stuck with that build till last night when I flashed CM7.2 RC1 to my phone.
Nothing strange happened while I did this. Followed the guides to the Tee.
What I think may have happened, when I used TiBu to restore my apps, it may have borked Play/Market.
Also, not sure why some of the gapps didn't' come along. I did flash them, right after CM7, then rebooted. I got a screen/list of apps, but not sure what I did to prevent some of them from NOT loading.
I've even tried to flash the gapps from CWM again, in hopes that would fix things... Nope.
The answer is probably, "Do a fresh install of CM7.2," but I want a second opinion before I do this.
Forgot to mention I removed tenfars cwm and used the one in the tuts by the CM wiki
I had the same issue with the play store. The way I fixed it was I first uninstalled the play store. Then I got a copy of the old market. I then renamed it vending and placed the apk in the following directory using root explorer (need to make sure the root explorer is set to Mount R/O):
system>app
After that I changed the permissions for the market apk. I made sure read, write, and execute were all cheeked under owner and clicked ok. I then exited root explorer and rebooted the phone. Once the phone booted back up I had the old market again. Then I went back to the system>app directory and changed the permissions back to the default (probably don't have to do this, but did it just in case). After that I opened the market and agreed to the terms. I then exited the market and waited a few minutes and went back it. I was then automatically pushed the play store and had no more FCs.
Attached is the original market.
Permissions should be set to RW/R/R and none set to executable.

I know that's what permissions are suppose to be set to, but it wouldn't install the app for me until I also checked execute.

Happened with me to..all i didwas uninstall updates through the app settings. I think it has something to do with corrupted cache data. Before i got it fixed I'd clear cache from there to and it'd work for a little bit.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA
I've not had time to get back to this yet but may work on it tonight. Firstly I don't have root explorer on my phone, nor the experience to mess with setting permissions. Will a reinstall possibly fix my issue?
Is there any other way of going about fixing the issue using TiBu? Maybe uninstalling play and rerunning gapps?

Factory Reset Doesnt restore apps

Have a problem with my TFP, downloaded and updated to JB using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909819
Tried getting rid of some bloatware however i obviously deleted something important as now on play store i constantly get Server error on open. Have tried the usual fix's on here of uninstalling clearing data re installing etc all to know avail.
So i tried doing a factory reset however it did not install anything i had removed, I then tried downgrading which didn't work either, so in short have i lost google play forever, does anyone have a base JB i can use to re install everything.
Please help been tinkering for hours now to no avail.
Interestingly cant use GMAIL app either.

You don't say if you are unlocked and have a recovery?
Doing a factory reset will not bring back deleted apps as it only wipes the cache etc.
Re installing should have brought them apps back but I don't know how you are tying to re install.. Can you give a little bit more information on what I have asked please.

You will not be able to just install it. You will have to copy it into system/app folder using a file manager that has root support like es file explorer or root explorer.
Here is the file from the new JB update.

Copy the one I posted above into the system/app folder and give it permission rw-r--r-- and then restart the tablet to let it create the cache file.. See if that works.

I'm really not sure what you deleted all together but try this.
GO to settings-apps and go to "all"
Scroll down to Google play services and google play store and force stop both and clear data and cache for both.

Any reason why you can't unlock the device and install a recovery so you can install custom roms? or are you trying to keep your warranty intact ?
I'm also not sure why you can't just do part 3 of the instructions you followed in the original post to put jellybean back on again. ( then again you have edited so many files this might not be advisable.)

Xperia Sola apps wot work

You can bash me all I want since I did some really ****ty things in here. I used Lucky Patcher to change PowerAmp's permissions in order to remove the VERIFY_LICENSE permission. I then rebooted it and the boot took too long so I pressed the restart button. It booted faster, but now all my apps went awry. I can't open most of them. I just cleared the Dalvik Cache and the cache to see if it helps, but it didn't. I still can't open most of my apps. Some help, please?
Check /data/apps to see if the app source files are still there.

Bootloop after removing system apps - miui8

Hi,
I am currently on the latest version of global dev (MM)
After removing system apps (even gapps like Gmail and so on), the phone doesn't boot
It has this loading boot animation at the bottom, and after it finish "loading", half a minute later it's starts again
I want a debloated version of miui.
Is there any rom that provides that out of the box?
Try below MIUI debloating script..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/redmi-note-3-pro-snapdragon-miui-t3372437
What all you meant by 'so on'.. Now to get the Phone working again, Re flash the rom again.. Uninstall only those apps, you know for sure..

Thanks for the replies
I have tried to Uninstall those apps which on the post but resulted in the same result.
And by "so on" I mean that every system app uninstalled results in a bootloop
The only thing I could uninstall was the precomed Facebook app

You are doing it wrong...
you are just uninstalling apks. there are folders on /system/app which contains oat, if you uninstall just apk there will be bootloop
If you have twrp then goto file manager of twrp and goto /system then app or priv-app and goto folder of that specific app for example you want to delete google drive then open google drive folder and give Chmod 777 permission to that folder *THIS IS COMPULSORY* then delete the entire google drive folder...
This is what that script do...
Please hit thanks if i help you ????

You can uninstall all the Google system apps, which are available in the play store.. So that you can install and uninstall anytime you want to.. But see to that you don't do that to play store, play services or the framework..

I need to give chmod permission to the folder I delete or to the outer folder?
And I give the permission through twrp? (I have the zcx twrp)

Not necessarily, you should do from recovery.. Instead, Boot up the phone.. Install Link2SD or other root app manager.. Grant root permissions to it.. Clear the data of the system app.. Uninstall it.. Simple

easier...just flash these scripts....no bootloops here.
Slightly off-topic I had this problem with a similar device. After rooting my phone I installed a system-app-uninstaller to get rid of the "Google App". Removing this specific app caused continuous boot looping.
To avoid this, I duckduckgo'd the problem and found this anonymous closed&deleted (but ingenious) post at Reddit:
{
[deleted] 2 points 2 years ago
Hey! I figured out a way to delete the app(using root of course) without causing a bootloop. The secret is to go to Settings>Apps>Advanced(In the top right)>Deafult Apps>Assist & voice input>None. After doing that, reboot, and then u can delete the app
}
Yes i made the mistake of changing the setting to "None" and then immediately uninstalling it.
Don't do that!
After restoring my twrp backup for the millionth time, I changed the setting to "None", rebooted my phone, disabled and force-stopped the service, rebooted my phone... And then uninstalled it. Victory!
