I found an iMessage app which syncs Android texts to my Mac via the Apple Messages app which I think is great, but what I'm actually looking for is an app that can sync my iMessages from my Mac to my Android? Anyone knows how to do that?
Impossible.

Looking to see if anyone knows of a way to link the ipod imessage app to android? looking for a way to be able to send my kids messages from my vibrant via text to their imessage apps on their ipods. Don't really want to set up and use something like a whatsapp, would rather let them use the native imessage if possible. Let me know if you know of anything. Thanks.
On the iPhone theres an app from Cydia which is called SMS GV Extension which makes you receive all your GB messages in your SMS app. Can you do this on Android? Specifically on HTC Sense?

Wow... And they say that Android is more customizable then iPhone...
Help please, I really want this feature,
If you want it then make it. This is a development site not a feature request site.
So there is nothing like that? Dam Cydia has so much to offer, that you just can't get on Android... Oh well.
Android is not about getting things it is about making them. That is why it was targeted to developers at first.
Some time has passed and was wondering if something like this has been created yet.
BUMP
yes, there's an app for exactly what you are looking for.
just search for mdrtools in the market, and install google voice sms integration app.
I have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
Thanks!
Bump. Have an app that can send GV from the native SMS system.
GV Intergration
But I cannot get GV messages received in the native message app without forwarding the text through the proper SMS phone number. I thought there was an an option for this in the GV app, but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me.
I just emailed the developer of the GV Integration app asking if he had any ideas on how to do this. Unfortunately, the Google Voice app is the only one I've found that will sync messages instantly (or at all). I SMS a *lot* from my laptop browser via google.com/voice and the Google Voice chrome plugin.. so it would suck to only see one side (incoming) of the text thread.
I'll definitely let you guys know if I find anything.
damnit google.. open up the freakin api already.
Also.. if you do use the Google Voice app.. there's an app on the market called NotifierPro that works with the Android Google Voice app to display popups of incoming text messages... which is convenient.
You can send text mesages with GVI, then have them forwarded back to your phone. That would work if you have unlimited inbound texts, but it cuts prepaid texting in half, which is nice, but could be nicer.

Well, I'm glad others have an interest in something like this too. I've been using mysms recently...it's by no means reliable and it relies on your phone to send/receive (unlike GV) but it works ok for now. Mighty text works better as far a reliability goes, but is terrible with the tablet browser, doesn't support notifications, and still relies on the phone...still not GV. I guess we'll just gave to wait.
Argh...the GV integration app ALMOST works. It might just be a matter of getting the settings right. Messages sent from a Google Voice web browser get integrated into handcent (Usually after you receive a message). I just keep running into problems with duplicate messages, not getting notifications from handcent (messages still show up), etc depending on the settings I choose between the GV/Handcent/GV Integration apps.
SO frustrating...has anyone had better luck?
Looking for a way to keep text sent from the browser and tablet synced with my phone as well. Im using Sprints GV integration as well.
I know this thread is old but for anybody that finds this post you should know that cm10.2 roms have voice+ which integrates messages sent from a computer to your phones message store
Wow thread resurrection! Yes it's awesome. Been using it since Koush came out with Babel. Recent nightlies though, receiving messages has been spotty. Are you using nightlies and or are you seeing this too?

For anyone else, the app Sliding Messaging (on play store, or if you search xda) just added Google voice integration.

Apparently, the talk application we have on android is not able to send free sms around the world. You can very easily do it from the deskitop client?
Is there any way to use this feature?
With the new hangouts app, will we be able to receive SMS from our Nexus 10?

No, SMS go through the cellular radio like voice calls, not via Wi-Fi or even 3G data connections.
There are plenty of web-based SMS services (Google Voice, for relevant instance), but the Nexus 10 can not, and can never, send SMS natively

Well that sucks, I thought hangouts would become something like iMessage. Couldn't they sync SMS over WiFi and our Google account like MightyText does?

Don't know about the syncing bit for definite (at least until my N5 arrives and I play around with and my N10 together), however it DOES function almost exactly like iMessage in that if your contact also has Hangouts then you can send your message via the Hangouts IM protocol
Even iMessage (as I understand it) cannot send an SMS to a contact without a cellular modem (i.e. tablets of any type, even iPads). If your contact runs iOS, then they will receive an iMessage regardless of tablet or phone, however it is not an SMS, it is an IM through the iMessage servers and protocol...

I added a slight more clarification on my last paragraph that you might not have seen before quoting!
As a separate workaround, you can use Tablet Talk, which links between your cell and N10. It allows you to send SMS through Tablet Talk on the N10 via your cell phone.
