Changing Phone's Screen Resolution? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this possible with the LG v10?

Yes if rooted. In terminal use
su
wm size ress x ress
ress is for example : 720 x 1280
so it goes like
su
wm size 720x1280
or any other supported by phones screen

[APP]Change screen resolution and DPI (CSRD)

This app for Changing screen resolution and DPI.
For example I change resolution and dpi in my HTC HD mini to play games.
Sources available.
Version 2:
Manual:
1) Copy "csrd.exe", "injection.dll" to root dir "\"
2) Create text file "pr.txt" in root dir "\"
3) Fill pr.txt with pattern, described below.
4) Run csrd.exe
5) For unload dll and stop csrd run unload.exe (in any dir)
Pattern:
Code:
<width>
<height>
<dpi>
<process name or path>
Example:
Code:
320
480
128
.exe
240
320
96
ppc.exe
100
100
196
calc.exe
First record is resolution for other processes (that not described below).
Process with name ppc.exe will work with 240x320x96 resolution.
Process with name calc.exe will work with 100x100x196 resolution.
Other process will work with 320x480x128 resolution.

If it works on Hd mini maybe you should post it in the Hd mini thread too
How does it work? I run it, change resolution, but i don't see any changes.
Try new version.
Put injection.dll and CSRD.exe to 1 folder. Then run CSRD.exe, change resolution and click "Apply".
Good work.
Look like wvgafix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974

Thank you This one works. In your first post you said "For example I change resolution and dpi in my HTC HD mini to play games". So what resolution and dpi exactly do you set? For which games do you use it?

I set:
X 240
Y 320
DPI 96
So far I have only used "Orions Legend of Wizards".
In theory, with this program any game should run normally for that resolution and dpi.
Shayder think you can make this app support cmd functions (so we can make the switch silently... useful to use with MortScript)?
Also as an idea would it be possible to make a certain app run inside a window which size is that of the required screen resolution (wrapping the running app...)? The idea seems possible (vijay555 aparantly did something similar...). This way only the selected app has it's "resolution" changed not affecting the rest of the system (which tends to cause gfx issues)
with a command prompt version i can prob it on my alpine nve-300p navigation system tool. this run with windows ce 5 and igo
so does this mean that if i use this on my wvga device, i can play games that are made for qvga in full screen?
Sources...
But this program change the resolution only when you play a game or change everything? Can I have a guide to install the program?
1)This app change global resolution and DPI.
2) just run "csrd.exe"
Just a stupid question, can this program "emulate" a vga resolution on a qvga device? Thanks for your work and for the sources.
Excellent, thank you.
Thank you for the app SHAYDER.
Just to confirm how this program should operate. You set the screen res and DPI that you want it set to and hit apply. After that, only that portion of the screen will be used?
For example, changing it to [email protected] will use only small section of a WVGA screen (top left)?
It will not allow you to run a 240x320 game at 480x640 or 480x800, correct?
The game you wanted to use, will it only run if it detects a QVGA screen? Is that why you needed to force a new resolution?

Would you create for smartphone????
New version available. Look 1st post.

i have try it in some apps and it's work... i will test it in some other apps and i will give you the review....

Changing the display resolution (not DPI)

Is there a way to change the Display output resolution in Android?
I'm not talking about the screen density (DPI). I'm talking about the pixels.
The thing is I own an Acer Iconia A700 FullHD tablet but there is lag, especially on 3D games that forces the native screen resolution of 1920x1200.
So forcing the resolution from 1920x1200 down to 1280x800 would theoretically reduce those lags.
So it works with some games that comes with an option to change the resolution, but most games doesn't have an option, they simply run in 1920x1200 and lag really badly.
Is there a way to change the overall resolution down to 1280x800 ?
I know it MIGHT be possible but there could be a problem because the image has to get upscaled to the native display resolution.
And I don't know if the Tegra 3 comes with an hardware scaler.
So if the resolution gets changed, it might get upscaled and filtered (or not) OR just centered in a smaller image in the middle of the screen.
But either way.. Is it possible? if yes, how?
Thanks in advance.
[Q] Change Smartphone Display Resolution FHD 1080p to 720p via soft?
This is possible?
Currently many smartphones are already FHD, but what if we want to reduce to 720p to improve performance, it is possible via software? something like in windows, or is not possible unless you edit the kernel?
This an interesting topic.
In terminal:
su
wm size 800x1280
To reset back:
wm reset

I suppose you've changed the font size maybe. Go to Settings > Display > Font Size > Normal.
you can edit the file /system/build.prop and change the lcd_density value.

Turn your one plus 2's full hd screen to 2k hd display

STEP 1 : install resolution changer pro on any h2os rom from play store (kinmaricans i preffer).
STEP 2 : First do not enable it just put height = 1440 and width = 2560 and then density to 538.
STEP 3 : ENABLE IT. ENJOY
Can't it be in oxygen or any other cm based custom rom
You can't change your phone's screen resolution ahahaha that depends on the hardware. That app is just changing your DPI to change the size of UI elements.
If you could change your phone screen resolution with a simple app, why would any OEM make phones with 4k screens?
The OP2 was, is, and will always remain 1920x1080. You can always change the DPI to get smaller icons or whatever (I prefer 380, stock is 480). More the DPI, bigger your UI elements.

That is just absolute nonsense, sorry to say that. You just make the device believe to have a 2k display, which means the GPU will have to push even more "virtual" pixels, while everything is just "downscaled". You won't get any benefits from that, in contrary you will just introduce more cluster****, by letting it run on a virtual resolution instead of it's native.
There's a reason why people with 2K phones set the virtual resolution down to 1080p, so that the GPU doesn't have to work as hard.
How this differ from changing dpi, it comes to my mind that oos doesn't like changing dp

OP, you may want to alter your thread title in the advanced edit menu to something more accurate. You will see what I mean if you read the comments here.

Physical (capacitive) buttons not working after change resolution

Hi,
My device is ASUS ZD551KL running android M, stock rom, not rooted.
It display resolution native is 1920x1080, and 480dpi. With this resolution playing game a bit heavy, so i try to change display resolution and dpi. I did that using adb shell command to make resolution 1280x720 and 320dpi.
The problem is the physical (capacitive) buttons not working when i change the resolution (with dpi changed it works fine). So, anyone can help to get around this problem? With non rooted solution preferably.
Thx.
