Hi Folks,
Daily driver is Nexus 6P
I was wondering if someone can recommend an app that can perform a simple task. When I connect to my home WiFi (specific SSID name) the app automatically changes network preference from 4G to 3G. When I disconnect/not connected to WiFi the app changes the network preference to 4G again.
Thanks very much!

Hi,
I have terrible 3G (UMTS) reception at my office, but good 2G (GSM), so to save battery and make the phone as usable as possible I switch to 2G when at work. I used to go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks and switch on "Use only 2G networks", and lately I've been using the "Toggle 2G/3G" function in the CM7 notification power widget.
However, it is slightly annoying to have to remember this toggle every time I enter/leave the office, so I'd really like to have an app that does this for me. Does anyone know of an app that can toggle 2G/3G based on either location or time? I'm using CyanogenMod 7.0.3 if that makes a difference.
I've tried a few different profile/setting switching apps, but none of them seem to be able to do this (while all can turn APN on/off, which I don't want. I want data enabled all the time, just over GSM part of the time). Even the apps that claim to have a toggle for 2G/3G seem to be just shortcuts to "Mobile Networks" settings.
Would really appreciate any helpful suggestions
You might consider buying Tasker. It can do what you wish even on a geolocation basis. So whenever you enter/leavr certain location proximity it will do whatever you set it to do.
Thanks, tasker does just what I wanted.
I'm looking for a smart wireless management app for my Streak.
Main function I'm looking for is the ability to let it automatically switch between WiFi and 3G as soon as signal drops below an exact specified value.
Right now I have a fairly fast 3G connection on Vodafone NL, but when I'm home I switch to Wifi to save cost. At some spots in my house the 3G connection is way faster then my Wifi signal, so I want it to atomatically choose the fastest connection.
Is there any simple app out there that chooses the connection with best send/receive qualitiy?Anyone knows about an app that can do this?

Is anyone aware of an app that would be able to connect to a wireless network in order of preference?
for example, i have a home wifi network, and a wifi hotspot device. When i am at home i would like the prime to automatically choose the home wifi ssid over the hotspot ssid, but then when i leave home the prime would choose the next best option - my mobile hotspot device...
The reason i'm lookg for an app that does this is so that i dont run through my data on the hotspot if i forget to disconnect and reconnect to my home network?
thanks for reading!
Before I sent my prime in for rma it would automatically pick a WiFi AP based off the best signal strength.
i'll give that a go tonight - i'll leave the wifi hotspot device at the door and see if by phone and tablet change to the home wifi,
Is there an app or a script I could run to tell my phone not to connect to wifi when 4G is available..? I run with wifi on all the time and have a handful of networks I connect to but would like the phone to automatically disconnect from wifi when 4G is available then reconnect if it is lost. This is useful for me at work because depending on where I am in the building I may have 4G/3G/no data but the wifi is everywhere but it is unsecured so I'd rather not use it if I don't have to.

just disconnect WiFi from notifications turn on data mobile from the same notification or add toggles widget.
save your internal space for something better.
Hi,
I'm trying to connect my phone to my providers wpa2-enterprise wifi hotspots, but I can't seem to find the wpa2-enterprise security level.
What I tried
Go to wifi, press the options dots and choose add network.
If i choose security type it doesn't show wpa2-enterprise.
Can anyone help me finding the future or tell me how I can go on

What you're actually looking for is 802.1x EAP. I use a WPA2-PSK enterprise network at home and it works well
You'll need to check what settings you need (under the advanced section when adding a network) for the various authentication type.
