Z5C Stock ROM [LB] / Root / unlock bootloader / RIP TA partition - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
i just powerd on my first Z5C and of corse it's MM stock ROM (LB)
as i read in the z5c guides you must unlock bootloader to root the phone
unlock bootloader = WIP DRM / TA partition
i see some guides on how to backup those keys and restore them after rooting, but what i've heard also is restoring drm keys is not the same as restoring the whole TA partitions
i found a blog that have a guide to root the device with TA partition backup
sony-z5-compact-root-without-losing-ta
i found also here the iovyroot-temp-root-tool that does temp root to the device and giving the ability to backup TA partition
so what i have understood from these links that it's possible to downgrade to LP > temp-root > backup TA > unlock bootloader > install custom kernel then root > restore TA then relock bootloader
so, will this work or any one has tried this
to resume all this,
here is my device statue

after doing all that steps rooting then restoring TA and relocking bootloader should will something change in this picture ?
please give as much as advices before i start doing any step

You can't restore your TA partition after flashing a custom kernel.
The bootloader will lock automatically after you restore your TA partition and the custom kernel won't boot after locking the bootloader.
downgrade to LP > temp-root > backup TA > unlock bootloader

These steps are correct. After unlocking your bootloader, you should use this script to patch your kernel (see the original thread for guide), then do this step if you have the original TA.img backup:
Code:
flash_dk <ta backup image> DK.ftf
Flash your modified kernel using fastboot, then flash the DK.ftf using flashtool and everything should be working again

in the end should i finish with a rooted z5C with locked bootloader (DRM active) ???
edit:
okay let me correct my question, shoud i have DRM active with unlocked bootloader ?
or at least can i revert back to full stock if i want ?
thanX

In the end you'll have an unlocked bootloader with TA keys backup. This backup can be used to fix/work-around DRM while the unlocked bootloader stays. This can be done by using a modified/patched kernel. It's all quite do-able.

what does unlocked bootloader with TA keys backup looks like ?
is that means if i go to service menu and check security i will find bootloader unlocked and drm keys active ???

(Guide) Unlock boot loader root HTC Jet stream

hi all
the guide to how to unlock the bootloader and root your HTC Jeststrema
but before that all the credit to have root for DooMLoRD
Step 1: unlock your bootloeder from www.htcdev.com
you will not find that jetstream is listed on the site but don't worry just follow the instruction on the site and you will unlock your boot loader.
step 2: root your jetstream
Follow this thread by DeooMLoRd http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1416145
Insecure kernel + autorooting test2
download link: http://www.multiupload.com/ARWHD9V11Q
reboot into fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
check if device is detected (fastboot devices)
if its detected then try hotbooting this kernel u downloaded (fastboot boot filename.img)
if the device boots u should have superuser in app drawer
incase u dont just check the output of this command (adb shell ls -l /DooM*)
step 3:
then download the v02 toolkit for JetStream files and extract contents in root directory of ur pc (e.g: c:\ OR d:\)
link : http://www.multiupload.com/OZSJFQTQX7
then just connect device (with my insecure kernel on it) and activate USB debugging...
then execute RUNME.bat
thats it
ur device should now be permanently rooted after reboot...
again all the credits for DooMLoRD
thanks and have a fune
after the bootloader unlocking step kindly redirect the users to my thread:

I'll try to unlock bootloader and root my nexus 9 this afternoon, Any risk with this app?
This wiped my /system partition when I just tried to root, so I'd avoid it. Thankfully I had the ROM's zip on the device.
Sent from my XT1254
When you unlock the bootloader partition is always deleted .... has nothing to do with root. But there are apps so you can unlock the device without data loss .

#1. I didn't use it to unlock the bootloader. I'm already unlocked and was trying to root a stock build.
#2. Unlocking the bootloader wipes data, not system. I couldn't even boot into the ROM after running this, and I had to reflash it. My data partition was untouched, though.
it did worked; thanks

You have to take it to service center. Once you unlock bootloader, dont relock it unless the realme flash tool is available

they will fix it with fees or no
Last night I unlocked my bootloader and installed twrp recovery but somehow my mind changed so I thought to revert back changes and i download stock recovery of Realme 5 pro from somewhere(can't remember source) and after flashing it without checking it I ran a need command "fastboot flashing lock " and after that I rebooted my device and now it shows "the current image (boot/recovery) have been destroyed and can not boot " and now I can't even boot into fastboot mode to do something to revert back it .....At last, I'm here for suggestions on how can I make my device run normally.

Xperiavely, Bofino
Hello,
Well, I wanted to experiment with Gcam - Camera2api etc and other mods!
Since I can't find yet anything that works with this model, I wanted to re-lock the bootloader and remove the message on start up "Bootloader is unlocked etc etc" and also revert back to original firmware.
I used flashtool - latest version 9.28 (Androxyde) and successfully unlocked the bootloader!
When I tried to re-lock it (As I have done this with previous Xperia phones) I got the error in the 1st post!
If you need any more details please let me know!
Thank you,
John.

I did the same thing using fastboot unlock command. But for now there's no way to fix this. Flashing the stock firmware, does not fix the issue. In fact it worked on some of the previous devices. But this time I don't see any solutions. I even tried so many commands using fastboot. But non of em worked. Let's hope that Sony will release some kind of commands to relock the bootloader.

Question Error in locking bootloader.

Hi I am getting an error when trying to relock the bootloader, I reboot into bootloader put in the command to lock "Fastboot flashing lock" get the error below in the image. Any idea why?

Have you restored the full stock firmware? If not then do that first using: https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection

I don't recommend using the Pixel Repair Tool unless absolutely necessary.
If you are trying to return your device to absolute stock, I recommend using the Android Flash Tool. You can choose which factory build to flash, whether to wipe the device, and whether to relock the bootloader.

It is likely that you rooted your phone at one point, or perhaps flashed an alternative operating system which does not support verified boot.
Traditionally but not in all cases, re-locking your bootloader requires you to be unequivocally 100% stock. If you plan on being on stock and you are not (which I am assuming), you can either follow the # Flashing Instructions steps on the Nexus/Pixel Factory Images page. If you find that a bit tedious, there is always the flash-all.sh/flash-all.bat which will do this all for you.
After this, your device will be set straight back to factory, and you can follow the steps to re-lock your bootloader.

This is why I like to recommend the Android Flash Tool - simply from a perspective of ease of use, and the fact it's practically impossible to get wrong; additionally, the user can elect to lock the bootloader during the process when choosing the flash options. This removes the need to do anything else manually; the tool takes care of the entire process.
It's also very useful for updates.
