Well for one most variants of the G5 don't even have root access, the only one being the T-Mobile variant. So I assume there's no development for Multi-ROM on this phone (yet). So honestly no one can confirm what you're asking. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[Q] Question about flashing the official Kitkat Rom over Customrom

Hi guys,
actually i have the omnirom (4.4.2) installed on my g2 and i want to flash an official rooted Kitkat Rom with its LG Software features.
How do i have to proceed?
Which files do i need?
If i flash the unrooted Rom by the KDZ file, can i manually root afterwards?
I'm not sure if the root is more difficult with the official KitKat Rom than on custom roms.
Do i have to fully wipe? I am on 4.4.2...
Can someone help please? What about the recovery (TWRP), will i lose it on this way?
Thanks in advance.
Ok so two things, one which model is your phone and two questions don't go in general

Ah sorry...
So can a Mod please move the thread to "G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting"?
Model is D802 (international) should be the vodafone edition
Well currently there is one way of flashing it through recovery in the d802 thread but it has a lot of issues other than that there still is not an official way to do so

Hmm okay i thought now there is a better way...
Can i manually root my device if i flash the official kdz file?
If you are flashing the .kdz with the flash tool, you NEED to do a full wipe or it will fail flashing.

Thank you for the quick reply.
Would you please guide me to the correct custom kernel, as I am not sure which one I need to use?
I use to always flash the root file though onin and that it.
Thanks again for your help.

What would happen if i put my current kernel into another similar firmware?

Now i have a boring stock firmware, i installed a ROM that is awesome but didn't support my WiFi and Bluetooth, so what would happen if i put my kernel in that ROM using kitchen tool (knowing that the firmware i'm trying to modify installed properly, it just didn't support WiFi and Bluetooth, so it's not a totally different ROM)?

If the kernel you have supports your device I don't see any reason why it would not boot normally. You could always flash the kernel separately from the rom in your custom recovery.

i think that because i know that the kernel is the interface between the OS and the physical chipset components so if that's not compatible with the ROM "and" the chipset something would go wrong...that's what i think

Okay cool. If the kernel you want to use is designed to support this specific device, I don't see any reason why you can't install it through your custom recovery. Are you using TWRP?

Oh ok. If say if the ROM support is the device and the kernel does too, then wipe the device and flash away. I suggest that you take backup beforehand and also have the stock ROM handy so you can recover if something goes crazy.
