Hello to all, right now on GB there are an offer for a Redmi Note 3 pro "international edition".
Now i have a doubt... Is this the same as "special edition"? Because it has band 20 (800mhz) but is reported to have android 5.1 (special edition have marshmallow).
So what phone is this?
There are only two versions of the Redmi Note 3.
One is Kenzo and the other is Kate.
Kate is the Special/International/Taiwanese Edition.
When it has Band 20, it's Kate.

Thank you for answer, i have heard somewhere that kate version is slightly bigger than kenzo but in the description of this international version measures are the same, maybe is an error of GB.
most likely an error, yes. If you check official sources, Kate is 2mm longer. It has also been confirmed by a variety of uses.

Hello. I just broken screen on my Umi Plus and was looking for a phone with good ROM support (buying localy in czech republic instead of Aliexpress). And Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon 650) fits my needs, except MIUI. But this forum is for Note 3. So,are ROMs and tweaks compatible between them? (Snapdragon and Snapdragon versions)
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/wiki/specs/note3
Roms should work on "Kenzo" model and also for "Kate" with the right firmware flashed, check the rom threads.
So I'm buying this device but I'm note sure which version to get. As I understand these are the different versions:
Redmi note 3 pro special edition (also known as "Kate", supports more bands then Kenzo)
Redmi note 3 pro (also known as "Kenzo")
Then there is the SD and MTK editions and different ram sizes aswell.
I was thinking about buying Redmi note 3 pro special edition and I just wondered if the support for this device is different depending on which version you get?
Will all Snapdragon roms work on both Kate and Kenzo?

Kenzo/Kate has the most support.
Roms can be used interchangably on Kate and Kenzo. Only difference is in the modems afaik.

Alright, so the main difference will be that we have to flash different firmware/modem before flashing any roms? Does roms ever install modems aswell?

Yes.
Most ROMs do not contain firmware or modem.

Redmi note 4 int version(this is SD)=redminote 4x +band 20
our question is if any snapdragon rom would be okay for this device or not and your answer is not an answer for us....

I am not buying or have 4x so again question is;
Can roms for Snapdragon variants be flashed on to international variant with Snapdragon ? Would that effect band 20 in any way?

Hmm....
If you read this post , you'll get it.
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/mido-rom-for-global-international-version.39385/
I guess 4x is called "Mido" and somebody on the link abov said all Mido roms works with i ternational variant...
For anyone wondering , i bought and flashed mido developer rom, stable roms they work and my band 20 is not touched.
But camera is really bad (samsung sensor)... My old jiayu s3 was way better...
So I'm thinking of buying this phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5px3gLUZgY
But most, if not all, retailers only have the chinese version in stock, not the global.
So I have two questions.
1. Is there a difference in band support between Chinese and Global version? I mainly need band 20.
2. Does the global and chinese version support the same roms here on XDA? I don't know chinese, but if I just flash a rom, it wouldn't really matter which language comes preloaded as I intend to run custom roms anyway.
Bump.
That Chinese Redmi note 5 is Redmi note 5 pro, codename is whyred, totally different with redmi note 5/redmi 5 plus (codename - vince) in this xda device section.
You better ask in correct section here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro
It's better than redmi 5 Plus, and i don't think there will be any difference of band supporting
Hi all, a bit confused.
I am in italy and have RN5 Eu version.
Do i have to refer to the "whyred" version for modding? For custom roms? So is this "Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus" the right section for me?
Thanks!

This forum is for "vince" which is the Redmi 5 Plus in China and some other markets and Redmi Note 5 in India. The forums for whyred are the one with the name of Redmi Note 5 Pro.
To clear confusion check if your phone has single camera or dual camera. If it is single back camera then its vince and this is the forum you should refer to. If you have dual back camera it is whyred and you should refer to Redmi Note 5 Pro forums.
