So I bought a redmi note 3 pro (snapdragon version) about two weeks ago and had a really good experience with unlocked bootloader and trying out different roms.
Today I plugged it in before I was about to leave the house and realised it wasn't charging at all. I tried three different chargers and four cables and none of them worked.
None of my computers would detect the phone either. Except when in fastboot mode.
So i had about 60% battery left and decided to restore stock miui image and relock bootloader using the miflash utility. I reflashed the firmware successfully but the device will still not charge.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Same problem here, but in this case I've been trying to solve it doing different things until battery died. I can't do anything now with it... mine is 5 days old.
maybe the usb port is damaged, this could of been caused by the retailer when they charged it and were too rough with it (when they install the vender rom)

I had the same problem after restoring a backup via TWRP. It just worked until battery got empty.

I'm currently waiting for xiaomi to get back to me. I don't feel okay opening the phone up in case they refuse warranty because of that.
It's really frustrating because the port clearly works as I was able to flash. It still works currently but it's at 40% battery and turned off until I know what to do.
Are there service centers in the UK? I really donot want to send my phone all the way to China Just for a USB port...

I don't remember. I unlocked bootloader officially and then installed twrp using one of the guides here with plenty of replies.
So what do I do if it is not the charging port?
Edit: it twrp 3.0.2-2 by the looks of it. It is however no longer installed as I reverted to full stock.

Try flashing once via Deep flash cable mathod. And try flashing custom kernel if fastboot is works.
If not, probably u need to change ur motherboard. Claim warranty. If it is not in warranty do full experiment before changing motherboard try test point mathod deep flash cable try to.flash with different cables.
Many new redmi note 3 have motherboard bug as i ask from mi store at chandigarh. They refuse to give me piece due to that. Official twrp can't brick any phone like this

Well I only have 12% battery left which is not good. Which kernel can I flash through fastboot? Most kernels I see need TWRP.
I don't think I have the tools to make a deep flash cable, this all seems very over the top. Still nothing from Xiaomi, it has been 3 days now.

you can flash with fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131284
go to "FLASHING YOUR FILES IN FASTBOOT"
this method is universal in android. (Unlock BL)
If your bat % is very low... caution!
if your usb port have an issue, find a fix center to welding a USB port.
Sorry, my english is very bad.

The issue u told is the same happened with other peoples. and it caused by twrp restoration process to.them. Service centre will only replace your motherboard . i saw alka recovery have bug that it formats the firmware partition and then suddenly restoration fail. Also i heared news twrp.3.0.1 have bug which cause the device to brick.
Your bug is concerned with charging i think.that. Currernt controlling info for battery during charge is stored in some partition rather then kernel which is screwed with twrp.
However if u can unlock bootloader by official way then flash kernel by this
Fastboot flash boot kernel.img

Hey guys, I just tried to flash stock FW on my Ray, I am stuck in flash mode now. I am just stuck at flashing kernel at 0%, once it went to 1%. I've tired other firmwares, no luck at all. So now I don't know what I can do to fix this at all. If anyone can please give me some help it would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried PC companion or SUS? I think that is your best bet if your having problems with flashtool.

Can you explain the steps you're using to flash?
What files - what programs - what steps.
If you just reply with a two line "I am trying to do blah and it doesn't work" then I won't bother to reply
I ended up getting it. At first I was getting only 0-1% into flashing kernel.sin, then it would just lock up. Tried a bunch of different things, but what ended up working for me is switching the USB port I was using. I don't know why, but it worked. After that I had no problem, flashed and rooted 4.0.4 no problem. Sorry for the vague post on here, at the time I was in the "OMG I BROKE IT!" panic mode....lol. Had to pull myself away from it for a few minutes, have a smoke, and relax.
What a steal of a deal though, picked up one of these for $129 new locally.

no use in unlocking the bootloader if he want to just flash the stock kernel izzit? i stumbled upon the same problem, tried it with other usb port and work fine. Probably driver issue on the port? because previously i tried to flash on the "renexx" something what it's called. But as soon as i switched back to the intel usb port, seems like the phone can be flashed. Anyone facing the same problem?
I must have done something wrong during the root procedure, now my phone works fine and is rooted but for some reason if it's turned off, I connect it to the cable, it just bootloops and doesn't even charge. If I turn it on and connect the charger after, it works.
I think it could be fixed easily by restoring one of the files, and since I'm rooted, I think it would be easily doable with Root Explorer.
Which file is responsible for charging and stuff like that?

Hi guys I need your help.
I just got my Redmi Note 3 Pro 32GB. It was on official China ROM from what I know. I tried to unlock the bootloader without permission using this guide http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html but when I flashed the ROM using MiFlash I got an error. I later restarted the phone and then all of a sudden my WLAN, Bluetooth and SIM would not work at all. So I tried again and now I get this error saying (Reached end of file... Receiving Hello Packets).
I can't flash a ROM from MiSuite through recovery as it always says it fails.
I'm at a loss here stressing out for days trying to get this to work and install CM13 on it. Was really excited but now this phone kind of pisses me off everytime I look at it. If I could fix the problems and flash CM13, this would be a great phone. Guess after this I'll probably not purchase another Xiaomi, nightmare to unlock and stuff.
All your help is appreciated. Thanks!
Try use Miflash too to wipe it with latest beta or stable rom.

EDIT: The problem is fixed, the problem was my dead SD card, as soon as I took it out and boot into TWRP the recovery has been working well. Thank you all for your help anyways.
What's going on guys, today I'm in need of some aid. Couple days ago I was trying to swap ROMs from PsyRom to FlyMeOS and when I tried to access TWRP recovery, it would get stuck on the TeamWin logo. I softbricked my phone by restoring the stock recovery and kernel (lol) and flashed the latest Fastboot ROM. Now I'm fine with MIUI8, and I flashed TRWP again (with Fastboot flash) but everytime I try to access TRWP it gives me that stuck logo or a black screen. I don't know what to do because I already tried with a rooted Dev ROM and flashify and even the TWRP Manager but I can't get anywhere. Do you know what I can do?

AFAIK the bootloader is not locked.
Otherwise I think that you can't even install TWRP.
I any case, I would try with an older fastboot ROM and with the official TWRP.

I have no problem with it (MIUI8). To be honest, I don't think any of them should cause the problem that you are having. Trying to solve the problem without identifying the cause will probably prove unfruitful. How did you install the first one that you had problems with? Did it ever work at all? If so, when did it start malfunctioning?

Yes it used to work, I already tried a lot of ROMs, I had the one compatible with Android 6.0 which I flashed with TWRP itself (It worked since I flashed CM13 with it).
I don't really know when it started malfunctioning because the last time I made a backup was at least one month ago when I swapped to PsyRom (it was functioning well). But two days ago when I tried to access it to change to FlyMe it wouldn't work. Anyways I'm flashing a MIUI7 fastboot ROM to see if it works.
I'm sorry if I can't explain myself very well but I'm doing the best I can lol. Thank you for your help too.
Perhaps something messed up your file system or partitions. If all attempts don't work, then you might want to use the SP Flash Tool to flash a compatible ROM and working TWRP.

Hello, after one month the issue is still not fixed, the recovery still hangs. Perhaps you could send me that fastboot rom you talked about please? Thank you.
I'm going to send you the link.
In the meanwhile...reading the thread again...what is "update.zip method"?
Are you try to install TWRP from Mi recovery?
This is not going to work anymore.
You should better stay with the last ROM and flash TWRP from fastboot.
This is the recovery image: https://dl.twrp.me/hermes/twrp-3.0.2-0-hermes.img
This is the guide: https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomiredminote2.html
Just start your RN2 into fastboot (vol down+power on), run fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and finally keep pressed vol up and send fastboot reboot and wait with the key pressed until it enter TWRP.
BTW:
in the official forum there should be a thread with link to all officially released ROMs for RN2.

The problem is I already tried the fastboot method as well, and the problem is always the same, stuck TWRP logo. Even if it was a partition problem, flashing the fastboot ROM should fix it, but it didn't. I tried the SP Flash Tools method too, and the flashing methods are successful, they all Flash TWRP, but when I try to access it it's stuck. I don't know why this is happening, it used to work.
@kiko9895 Sounds like you have screwed your partitions. You will need to load a full ROM using SP Tools to correct it as this is the only way to set the partitions back at their correct memory locations. Fastboot and Recovery rewrite the partitions by name not memory location so any fault in that will never be fixed. If you have flashed an Android 6.0 based ROM or something intended for another model phone, this will definitely be the case. Anyone flashing custom ROMs should first gather the skills and tools to recover from disasters - luckily, MTK based phones are virtually unbrickable!
As far as the "official" TWRP goes, it is not official and not a good version. It is just someone who has used the TWRP build server to knock out a random version. How does that make it "official"?

Ahah I have the skills and the tools, I've been flashing ROMs for more than two years. This never happened before. If you read what I said before on this thread, you'll see that I already flashed a new ROM through SP Flash Tools. And yes I flashed a 6.0 rom before so that must be the problem, but since I already flashed a fastboot rom through SP Flash Tools I can't see where the problem is. The partitions should be fixed by now but that isn't the case.
@kiko9895 Sorry if it sounded like I was coming down hard on you. You should only need to flash a matching preloader, uboot, logo plus TWRP recovery using SP Flash Tools with the correct scatter file to get back into booting to TWRP. Any other problems can be sorted from there.
I will attach a known good scatter file because I know there are several floating around that will reverse one or two partitions on you (such as the RN3 version)
I am going to visit Service Center to replace battery. Before that, I want to go back to MIUI. My bootloader is unlocked officially. I know I will lose TWRP if I flash MIUI Roms. But will it also relock my bootloader ?

No. U said u wanna visit service center. Then u should have stock recovery too. U can flash recovery rom but service center will see ur TWRP. Then they may refuse.
If u still under warranty period then u should have stock rom with stock recovery.
fastboot rom can be flashed only by using pc which will restore ur stock recovery too.

I don't believe there is any kenzo phone covered in warranty. It's been 2 years.
For OP: go to service center and get battery replaced for 1100Rs ($17). They don't even ask you for what rom you're running. I got my battery replaced running NOS 8.1. When phone is not covered in warranty, it really doesn't matter if your phone has stock rom, bootloader lock etc.

This is the one that I wanted to hear. My phone isn't under warranty. And I don't want to take the hassle of flashing stock rom/recovery using Flash Tool and then unlocking again and blah blah. Thanks for the information.
I was confused because I used to have a Lenovo phone and service center guys even refused to accept that phone when I said my phone is rooted. Just wanted to confirm if this would be the case for Xiaomi also.

You should never say anything about root and unlocking or custom roms.
Just remove sim and sd card. Turn off ur phone and give it. Just tell warranty is over and battery need replacement.
They only ask for purchase bill and accept ur phone.
