OIS module Sound or maybe Focus - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Have any of you guys hear a sound like a vibration in coming from the camera module? I was looking at the camera app and noticed i could switch from ois to normal stabilization and when i put it in ois and started messing around by doing fast movement and stopping and making the cam focus on different stuff on one of the focuses it did a weird sound and the image vibrated i have a video that i will upload later but its weird

Well im going to factory reset today and see if that fixes the issue

Surely any movement that is too fast for ois to keep up with it will result in poor video and a noise as the components have to physically move inside.

I figured out that the camera module just refuses to focus, ois is working fine but the focusing just took a dump, maybe its the consequence of a drop that it may have gotten but its weird since the issue only popped up with a factory reset, well i factory reset 4 times and nothing so its getting returned to warranty. I even opened the phone up and disconnected and reconnected the cam module and nada also i found out while i opened the phone one of the reasons for the gap on the chin of the phone its because there is a strong spring inside that pushes on the battery so its easier to take out.

[Q] Camera clicking Noise

Just received my replacement Galaxy S2 and I've noticed that the camera seems to focus and makes 2 short clicking sounds when the phone starts up and when I change from camera to video camera and vice versa. This didn't seem to occur on the handset that was replaced.
Is this common or is it a fault?
Well it does the same on mine... Not sure why this would make it faulty?
The clicking noise is actually the camera lens moving back and forth (calibrating?).
My phone on the latest camera firmware does that too - not sure if it did it before.
Just noticed that on mine too, and then found this thread. So, it seems to be normal. We hope so.
My s2 makes also this strange noise. But I nerver noticed this sound on my first s2 which got replaced. I can't immagine that I failed to hear it on my first s2 because it's quite loud. Don't know what to do now . Maybe other people can report if they hear /have this sound.
Mine makes that noise too. Didnt notice it before i read about it here
It's the autofocus. My Desire did that, and so did my Hero.
+1 same here
yes, I'm having the same clicking sounds - the problem is that the camera doesn't work at all...

What! does your camera work ? you got root ?
It's just the auto-focus.
the camera has never worked ever since I bought the damn thing, it just makes these clicking sounds - might be the autofocus - and the viewfinder is black
I've tried 3 or 4 different roms, changed the kernel a few times, got root... and nothing worked. Twice, after restart, I managed to take 2 pics but as soon as I change to video it all goes to hell
I made a video but I can't post it because I'm under 8 posts

yes mine does that too.I am from india.
If it helps
Mine clicks too, all works just fine tho!
Many cameras make a small click when turning on - hero did it too. It's likely an actuator calibration mechanism, to ensure the feedback system is working - wind full in and out, and self-check the sensor return values.

That's exactly what it does, you can see it if you look at the camera.
Mine clicks like crazy when using Tiny Flashlight + LED, Brightest Flashlight Freeā„¢ and a couple others I have tried. I mean CRAZY. Like a frog in a sock CRAZY.
It just continues to click. Sometimes it doesn't actually do it but 80% of the time it does
My camera clicks twice too when opening it or when switching to video mode. Clicks are not that loud and camera works perfectly, so i assumed it's normal, though some people say it's not. Wonder if camera does that on all S2 phones or is it related to rom versions or camera firmware ?
Completely silent XWKF3 and latest Camera firmware.
OK, that is not a real hardware clicking, it is not autofocus, it is not lens movement. It's the camera startup noise, and you can disable it by renaming the files:
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg as camera_click.ogg.bak
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg as camera_click_short.ogg.bak
You do need root for this.

Camera focussing problem! Weird sounds

I got a HTC one MAX off of eBay and after receiving the phone when I was checking I found that the camera was not working properly (unable to focus with weird sounds, front camera works perfectly fine though) whenever I tried opening it, there was a strange noise coming from near the camera module. I have taken a short video and you can hear the sound in it and it looks like phone is confused as to focus or not. The sound is similar to a bee trapped inside the phone buzzing. Any idea what it might be? Hardware issue? Here is the link to the video.

Looks like hardware. Have had my max apart a couple times. I think it would be easy to replace the camera if not under warranty anymore.
Yeah I guessed so. You think the issue will be resolved by changing just the camera module? And how hard is it to take apart the phone? I have experience in taking apart phones, have done it with my droid DNA and lot of other models. I just want to check out what a making that sound. Thanks for the reply though.

I'm already on the latest software version. Ill try flashing another Rom and see if it helps else I will have to replace the camera module I guess. Thanks for the response.
I tried several custom rims including AOSP and sense but can't seem to rectify the camera problem. Guess it's a hardware fault. Will have to change the camera module, anyone has any idea where I can get one who provides international shipping?

When you shake your phone you will see that the lens in the camera is loose. When you shed light on buzzing camera you will see it vibrating and stoping when you bring a magnet closer.
Phone vibrations over time tend to loosen the attachment of the lens in the back camera

Camera issue

Hey guys,
Sometimes when I launch my camera, it makes a loud buzzing noise and has trouble focusing. It seems like something is getting in the way of the lens not allowing it to move freely. If I shake really quickly it usually stops and works like it should. I don't know if it's a lens issue or am issue with the OIS. Has anyone else had this issue and if so have you found a solution? This is my second S6 Edge. The first one succumbed to the auto rotate bug. Thanks for your time.

I was facing the same issue from the past 3-4 days. It starts buzzing (not all the time, but frequent enough to get me mad) when you open the camera app, and might stop the buzing if you try to focus manually.
I went to Samsung service center yesterday, and they did confirm it was a fault camera hardware (don't know the much details yet). They ordered new camera hardware and expected delivery date by tomorrow.
Hoping, the new camera module be with out any issues.
To any one, i have been using the phone for the past ~2 months, and saw this issue occurring in the past 3-4 days. Is any one facing the same issue?
Maybe i will send an e-mail, and see whats happening with these Camera hardware...

V10 back camera won't focus auto or manual

So I got the V10 on T-Mobile the day it was announced that the bootloader was factory unlockable. I love it so far with one somewhat concerning exception (apart from the laughable battery life but *shrug*): the majority of the time when I try to use the back camera, I'm not able to focus it. In auto mode tapping to focus does nothing. In manual mode sliding the focus dial also does nothing. Third party camera apps won't focus either. I have to pull the battery and reboot and it *might* work then, and if it does it'll only work the first time I open the camera. Front cameras work fine and the focus on the back camera when it works is excellent. Has anybody else run into this or know if it's worth messing with or if I should just exchange it?
Also for clarification I was running the stock rom (rooted) but with very little frozen. Switched to black hole yesterday (triple wipe) which has been lightning fast so far but having the same issue.
Thanks!
Same
Got it last week and Ive been having the same problem. I dont have many apps but I do let my battery drain due to laziness. Thats the only bad thing I do. I'm thinking of exchanging it because ive also messed with all the settings in the manual camera and nothing. Its set to a very close 1 inch distance to focus well. Front camera works marvelous.

Yeah close focus is exactly the problem. I can take passable pictures of stuff right in front of me by physically moving the phone closer and further until it's in focus but that's useless. I'm going to go by the T-Mobile store this evening or tomorrow and see what they say.

6 Major problems with Xperia X F5122

TAKE A LOOK A THESE SERIOUS PROBLEMS OF NEW XPERIA X F5122
I HOPE THEY WOULD BE NOTICED AND FIXED (sorry for bad english)
PROBLEM 1 (MAJOR)
-major software problem which appears to be only in sony phones (since i never experienced it in other brands devices)
-everytime i connected my device to pc in mtp mode, many of the files on sd card are either absent or shown with 0kb size rendering my files completely useless
-reinstalling drivers did not help since the phone is detected right
-the only solution i could find is to erase data of external storage and media storage in apps and then restart
but the problem appears again when i connect it again in a couple of times
PROBLEM 2 (MAJOR)
it has a great camera but it cannot focus when the object is near to lens (like taking a shot of 4x4 photograph) (not too close)
the camera had to be taken far from the photo in order to get it focused (too far for me in terms of near focus)
it doesnt focus even even u click on the object several times
the only solution was to take the object far enough to get the camera focus on it
PROBLEM 3
while playing music its back metal panel vibrates too strongly to cause vibrations in whole body
and too much dirt gets into the space of front speakers (makes the empty space of speakers white, like dirt and sand)
----so i guess sony needs to make structural changes in future models in order to make a sturdy built device----
PROBLEM 4
3.5mm jack has very low audio output in earphones or headphones (very very low in youtube app) as compared to others and also the volume of upper and lower front speakers is different which could be noticed very easily
PROBLEM 5
the device gets heated very quickly while using camera app or charging and hence functions gets disabled most of the time due to device heating because of charging)
Also, battery deplets very quickly (especially from 100 to 70%) even when not in use
PROBLEM 6
the double click to lock screen works fine every time BUT
the same with waking up the screen does not
sometimes it even takes about 5 tries to get it unlock by double tapping
occurs more when in stamina mode
noted.
F5121 here and only experience problems 3&6 not that it really bothers me.

You can enable it through settings in the launcher. And it only works when you are in the launcher, you can't lock it while in an app.
Edit: thought i was hit by number 5. But i wasn't, was using forced 2d rendering and that caused it to be come hotter than normally. Have none of the issues mentioned above.

Good to know, as I'm using Apex Launcher, I wasn't aware of such default launcher functionality. But as Apex is still better, I just configured it's double tab to launch Greenify hibernate & lock and this does the same job.
I got 6th problem.
You are very right. I can't believe what just happened to me. Have been crying since yesterday. I connected my Xperia x to computer to access a file from SD and I search for it but couldn't find it. I had to disconnect phone from pc and reconnect to see if i could access file. To my shock and surprise i couldn't see any files in my SD again. My SD was holding data size of 46GB but in a twinkle of an eye i lost all, phone shows only 9GB all files completely disappeared! What kind of phone is this? Am completely confused, i have to sue sony for this, this is completely unacceptable. Have never experienced such since have been using phones in my life.
All my data saved and I depend on in my work are completely lost just like that. How can I spend huge money on Xperia x to suffer this kind of loss? What do o do now?

Never occurred to me: problems 1, 2 and 4. I am not sure about 4, but compared to every single other device I have used I didn't notice any problems with the jack. Also, focus on the camera is OK for a 4x4 picture.
3 - yes, that is 101% true. The vibrations are unbearable.
5 - yes, although not always (eg. when charging mine almost never overheats, only with 7.1.1 broken version)
6 - idk

its Windows MTP issue! even on Galaxy phones, the largers the counts of file(not size) , mtp fails to load. I use wifi servers on Fx File Explorer, ORR the BEST is MYPHONE EXPLORER http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
PROBLEM 2 (MAJOR)

I never faced such issue! X takes awesome pix! however try the latest build nov17 , on 7.1.1
it doesnt focus even even u click on the object several times
the only solution was to take the object far enough to get the camera focus on it

I find vibration as normal as any device! however the speaker volume was low which after rooting i replaced xml file to loud them further.. and yes X don't have IP rating! so its not dust, water resistant!
PROBLEM 4
3.5mm jack has very low audio output in earphones or headphones (very very low in youtube app) as compared to others and also the volume of upper and lower front speakers is different which could be noticed very easily
I always found it very low! so if you have ROOTED X, you can replace the attached mixer_paths_wcd9335.xml file at /system/etc (make backup of the original) // then reboot! the device will be so LOUD
PROBLEM 5
the device gets heated very quickly while using camera app or charging and hence functions gets disabled most of the time due to device heating because of charging)
Also, battery deplets very quickly (especially from 100 to 70%) even when not in use
flash FCS_thermal_Xperia_X_V.1.3.zip using twrp and heating problem will be solved to 30%
battery is just 2600mAh , no solution for that
PROBLEM 6
the double click to lock screen works fine every time BUT
the same with waking up the screen does not
sometimes it even takes about 5 tries to get it unlock by double tapping

my friend has black version, works amazing!
my lime version also don't respond to double tapping at times! specially on stamina mode!
in new line of xperia they have removed this batter draining feature!

the first tip i will give you is to EXTACT DRM KEYS! before unlocking the boot!
xperia X in one of the few lucky devices whose drmkeys can be Extracted!

Problem 1; I don't seem to experience this on my single sim variant, except this Mtp crap is buggy and unresponsive with almost every phone I've used from android 1.6 days.
Problem 2; That is due to the 120 degree G lens. You'd realise that other phones have a much narrower field of view compared to the XX and thus, you'd be holding the phone much further way to get the same macro shot as you would on the XX hence the focusing problem.
Problem 3; Oh yes definitely agree with you on that.
It is also worth nothing that the main speaker (top) is louder than the bottom one.
Problem 4; yes with speaker and the 3.5mm jack.... ummmm really? How loud do people listen to their music?
it drives my 60ohm Sony headphones just fine. It's a bit lower volume than my tablet or laptop, but the XX's output is more than enough. If you're talking about the stock headphones.... man you're just damaging your hearing.
Problem 5; only on stock camera app, but yes like after 3 minutes of 60fps full recording. Google Camera, Line Camera and Snapchat work just fine even when the phone is boiling hot.
But my battery is just fine.
Problem 6; that only happens when I have a glass screen protector on.
All true!
All true!
Everything you describe is exactly what I experience with my device. It is also model F5121
I also say that when it's hot in the car or outside it's worse and the device gets really hot and the screen gets almost dark with the wase when it's hot in the car, especially in the summer so the device heats up as well. I took a video at night and the device did not get hot but on this day it's really bad. In short, Sony did not deal with the heating problem because I read that they said that this update will work out but it happened.
Solution for problem 1:
Restart the phone when you want transfer files using mtp from sd card. The reason you don't see those files is because of the way android (or the Linux kernel in general) handles file transfer.
