Google Now - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Stock Android 5 Samsung S4. Just reset my phone and trying out the GoogleNow widget with Nova Launcher...
-I can resize the widget but it only shows 2 narrow cards, clicking show more just opens GoogleNow app. Any way to get the widget to use full size of screen?
-Is there any way to get a weather radar card inside of GoogleNow? I'm not happy with any weather apps I can find, so wondering if I could just use GoogleNow instead (but I need radar (and animated )
-Any way to get Google Calendar Reminder cards in GoogleNow? I finally converted from Google Tasks to Reminders but they don't seem to be used much outside Google Calendar.
-Any other cool newer stuff/hacks that can be done with GoogleNow? I think they added support for other apps to add cards but I don't think I have ever seen any.
Thanks!

Why the EASYEST apps doesnt exists? (GReader, Facebook and others)

I spent at least one day trying to find some apps that give me some very basic and easy functions and seems they doesnt' exist!!!
Just some examples:
- I want that on my homescreen there is a widget where I can see the latest/newest items in my google reader feeds/account.
I downloaded at least 10 different rss readers apps but NO-ONE has a widget that displays 2-3-4 or more lines with the newest titles The most near is a widget that show a 3x1 square with ONE line with the newest items switching between them every few seconds. I missed something? there is something like what I ask?
- I want that on my screen there is a widget where I can see what is appening in my facebook account. The FB for android widget shows only one/last post. The HTC FB widget shows too many things and you cannot use if you are using a non-sense rom or if resized it look really bad. The only alternative I found is the FB widget included in the LauncherPro... but what if I dont like LauncherPro?
- I want that on my homescreen there is a widget showing me my exchange/gmail mailbox: just sender: mail_object. Can be done with a very simple widget in the market for gmail, but not for exchange. To do this I had to pay and install a different mail client (Moxier) that has a widget like this...
I'm just wondering I will start to lear java to start developing my own apps

use any of the android builds that say Sense. HTC Sense on these ROMs have all of the above functionality for your homescreen.

Can I use the HTC sense widget also if I use a different launcher?

As far as I know, as soon as you disable the sense launcher bar and use a different one such as Launcher Pro Plus you lose all the Sense widgets so the answer would be no you cant.
Mark.

Right.. this was what I experienced.
I dont want to use Sense widgets because
1) I setted up my dpi resolution to 180 to have a "bigger" homescreen
2) I use launcherpro plus to have 6 rows x 6 colums on every home to insert more widgets
In this way I just power up my phone from standby and I see:
1) hour and day
2) weather
3) news from my choosen keywords
4) calendar with the upcoming events
5) what is happening in facebook
So my question still remains... we have the market full of useful apps that do anything.. but no app to do really easy things like show on an homescreen some datas...this is incredible for me...
I have to do them by myself
I just enclosed a screenshot of my Home Screen.. I know, is not "cool" but it's working for me and give me all the informations I need at a first look without having to scroll in different homescreens
But could be better if there were some better widgets available
You know what pisses me off, there is not even a reliable alarm clock app for android. All of them may let you down in a very critical time. But it is very good thet we can find 1000+ apps that does nothing!!!

what you means for "non reliable" ?
I mean alarm apps work most of the time but somettimes they do not. It causes you to be late for your schedule. I tried many apps. "Alarm Klock" is doing okay but still it fails to ring sometimes.
Also there are so many apps which only does one single simple thing. It is like you have 2 different apps for volume up and volume down. That fancy android market is empty in reallity.

[Q] Customizing calendar widget

Just installed the Vegan Ginger RC1 and am having some trouble with the Google Calendar widget. Looks like it only displays 1 item for the current day no matter how big you stretch the widget. Anyone know a fix for this problem? Also seeing the same problem? Second, when you tap the widget and it shows the full calendar the text for items is not shown in most views - just a colored line. How can I see the title of items in the calendar in any grid-styl view?

Amazon market has business calendar free for today. Great app, with great widgets
Thanks for pointing that out! I noticed the app but didn't see a description of the widget so ignored it, even if free. I've now purchased it and will check it out, though it would be nice if the standard widget worked. This app doesn't support Honeycomb but maybe if we ever get it the standard app will work better and we won't need this app or it will be updated to support it.

Calendar Widget Switch

This may be a dumb question, so apologies up front. I really like the calendar widget that comes with JB (and ICS) ROMs. In particular, I like the scrolling capability it has within the widget window for agenda view; you can scroll through about a week's worth of appointments without having to go to full screen agenda view. With GB ROMs, the calendar widget doesn't have that functionality; it just shows the next appointment in the window, and to see further out in the week (or even current day), you have to go full screen view.
Is there a way to get the JB calendar widget to work in a GB ROM? Maybe an apk that can be installed?
Thanks for any advice.
Unless you have the source, no
If you had the source, you could replace all the JB specific classes with classes that work with GB
But other than doing that backwards compatibility changing, you cant take an app made for something higher than GB and install it, you'll just get a parsing error because the API for JB supports functions that didnt exist when GB came out
You can use Android Pro Widgets (APW) it's free, it does what you want (on all versions of Android) and it's in the Play Store

Not bad! That's about as close as I'm gonna get. I also like the bookmark widget better in APW. Thanks!

[Q] RSS Widget

(Was going to post this in apps, but it's a question?)
Ok, so ran my searches, checked out the similar threads suggested, tried a ton of apps and didn't find a solution.
Here's my question:
Does anyone know of an RSS app with all the following?
4x1 transparent widget (preferrably text only - heading and intro line)
Widget text shadow - no need for widget background
Service that I can also access with my PC (syncing of read items)
Scrollable? Not exactly, I like how the default Google Reader (woe it's demise) widget allowed you to flip through articles - same for minimal reader.
Share with installed apps (twitter, facebook, pocket, etc)
Open in browser.
Offline mode for reading when there's no connection
I also tried Feedly, RSS Demon, RSS Widget Boards, Easy RSS, Simple RSS Widget, Mobo, Flipboard, Simple RSS Widget, Scrollable News Widget, Colorize Widget, Pure, Glass Widgets ICS, and a few others I can't remember right now.
Does anyone know of one that would satisfy all the conditions above? Some I tried came close, but I just want to know if I'm missing the one that I want, there are just so damn many of them... Been installing and importing/manually adding feeds to test all day when I got a chance for a couple days now...
Running SGS3 i9300 JB 4.1.2 Stock with root, TouchWiz.

Transparent Google Calendar Widget for Android???

Does anyone have a transparent calendar widget for the Google Calendar? I spent yesterday evening looking for one, and I did find Simple Calendar - I've become familiar with the Simple line of products - but I just couldn't get it to interface with my Google Calendar.
I'm hoping that someone can help me with a transparent widget that they might've made or come into as I'm looking to get rid of the calendar icon and use a widget. However the Google Calendar widget is just hideous and garish if you're really into theming your device.
OR, if you can possibly walk me through the steps of interfacing the Simple Calendar with the Google Calendar? I'm really just looking to import/export everything so that it's saved to my Google account in case of loss of device or factory reset. I've had phones that this wasn't the case and I'd lose everything, recently had the loss of a Moto G4 and had to replace it on the fly with the Moto G5. I simply signed in and the calendar was just there because it was saved at mother Google and not on the device itself. If I could get the interface problem licked I'd be just fine with Simple...

Use chronus or any numerous calendar apps on play store with customizable widgets. Or try team blackout's clear google calendar here on xda. Or use a substratum theme.

Did you ever find the transparent Google calendar? I'm searching for it and can't find it on XDA. Can someone drop a link?

Search team blackout apps. Only Google Calendar available i know that is black or clear. It is an older version but should still work. If not you would need substratum to to theme it.

I just published the following high customizable agenda widget

Hope you find it useful
@jsalatas:
Thank you very much! Your widget is just what I was looking for!
P.S.: How often does the widget update itself? I have noticed that it does do it automatically, but do not know if it is somehow push based or a set intervall
