No hboot and backlight always at minimun - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody, since few days i have an HTC Hero (orange UK version) that i got in a flea market. The battery seems ****up but it works basically. When charging (1A charger) it says that is not enough to use with the phone. The notifications light flashes between orange and green. It's problem with the battery?
First it come with Android 1.5, so i did root with Universal Androot 1.6.2, it worked fine. Later i flashed a new recovery, first the RA Hero 1.6.2 with flashrec 1.1.3, seems it worked fine. More later i don't know why i put the phone in hboot mode and it booted fine, but when i connected the usb cable to the computer, all is messed up. The screen gone off, and from that time, i can't boot the hboot screen anymore and the screen is always on low brightness mode all the time, even with or without automatic light sensor, and when i level up the light, it goes off directly.
I flashed cyanogen 7 and it works but with the screen error (i installed CWM with rommanager when cyan worked "fine"). I flashed a new hboot image that i found on the internet (update-hero-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip, that i flash with the CWM but nothing changed.
Any chance to run the ruu flasher and start fro zero? Or repair the hboot?
Sorry my english and sorry the large post but thank you so much in advance for your help.

Stuck after SoftSPL procedure

Hello there.
I´m really new but certanly i have read a lot on the forums. Still I have managed to mess everything once more.
I have a wizard love G4
ROM Version 2.26.10.2.wwe
Rom date 06/07/06
Radio 02.25.11
Protocol 4.1.13.12
ExtROM 2.26.10.105
Messed around with the splash screen from equinoxe and to make it work i needed to update the RUU from 2.00.1 that was on the installation files to RUU 2.5.2 that was extracted from an HTC.exe rom update download.
Finally it worked just fine.
Then, i decided to give it a go on the SoftSPL procedure in order to install the Black Diamond 2.0 touch rom on my phone so I placed the downloaded "Safe ROM" on the ROM folder. Started the application and everything was looking good. Then the RUU came up with the 2.00.1 version so I was a little worried, but then the so called white screen on the cell phone started but with a progress bar (how convenient)... I´m not sure if i was supposed to see the progress bar at all on the cell phone or just a full white screen.
Anyway, after 10 minutes give or take, the bar got to 100% and the pc software said Congratulations... but then the cell phone automatically restarted and inmediatelly it went to the bootloader three color screen.
I proceded with a hard reset before anything, right on the bootloader screen, (radio and voice buttons hold with reset button and then the send button accepting the restore to factory). Then the phone restarted but also in bootloader screen. So i decided to turn it off by holding the power button for a while. It did turn of, but this is where everything goes crazy... it does not turn on again... it even don´t show no led light when connecting the phone to the usb or the ac wall adapter...
This happened to me a few days ago using the shelltool with the same Black Diamond 2.0 Touch rom but probably i made a different mistake back then.
Anyway I removed the battery and the sim card and reinserted everything again, even tryed it out without the battery and direct connection.
When this happened to me the first time, I just leaved the phone without the battery all night and on the next day it turned on but on the bootloader so I drove it to our local unlocker that managed to re-install the wizard-love once again.
I´m wondering if anyone is having this same issues, or something similar.
Probably i should have ask first if the Black Diamond 2.0 was a safe g4 rom, which i´m not sure but won´t dare to try it again.
I had the same problem.
i'm afraid using the SoftSPL now :S
Try the TNT 5. I used soft spl to install tnt 5 from the wizard love rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328917
They have a touch version u can think about.
Yes!!!! I love it now!
I downloaded the last SoftSPF. Now it runs a little slower on the first checking part but then it turned the screen all white!!!! Beautiful scary little issue that fortunatelly equinoxe stated on the flashing instructions.
Then I went for the TNT 5.0 Professional with HTC Home Plug-in on my CID LOCKED QTEK-9100 (But that it´s actually looking exactly like a 8125 Cingular), and it did it!.
One question tough... I´m running windows vista on my personal computer so I flashed the cell phone on another computer at my office that has windows xp, but still inside the TNT 5.0 Professional installation pack there is a RUU that states Windows Vista Update Utility. I´m wondering if this would actually run under vista... If so, then I believe that you can make SoftSPF also run under vista by just changing the 2.exe file on the SoftSPF compilation with this Vista_ROMUpdateUtility.exe file on the TNT 5.0 Professional compilation release.
Anyone care to try?
Probably I will be trying to flash a new radio with this RUU Vista utility under vista, to see if it flashes... If it does, then i don´t see why you can´t run try it out under vista.
I´m attaching only the RUU for vista so you can put inside any nk.nbf with it to use it under vista.

Your screen should turn white, completely white... Not white with a progress bar. That is the RUU that you were seeing. Haret.exe cause the screen to crash and then it turns completely white. THIS IS NORMAL.
Try using this version: SoftSPL - RC1. Before I got a G3 and CID unlocked it, this version of SoftSPL worked for me time and time again.
Thank Dan.
Actually the new SoftSPL worked like a charm. The screen went blank as a crash, and 10 minutes later i was on a TNT 5.0 Professional Qtek.

No problem... I know before I got my hands on a G3, thats exactly what I used to upgrade roms.

[Q] Bricked Hero? touch panel-fail

Hello, I have an unrooted Hero from Orange (Spain) that enters in a boot loop. I have tryed everything to restore it but with no success. In the hboot menu it says "touch panel-fail" and even if I flash again the original rom from the hboot, it still gets in a boot loop.
First of all I will explain my case.
I had the Hero rooted, with custom roms etc, but when I bought a Nexus One, I gave my Hero to my brother. In September he told me that the official 2.1 had arrived to the Hero, so he wanted it instead of a custom rom, so I just proceeded to do so. I created a GoldCard, installed the 1.5 RUU of WWE, made the two OTAs and all OK. The last week (I think) he received a new small OTA, he updated successfully. My brother went to sleep with the Hero almost charged, but when he woke up, the Hero was off. Then, when he turned it on, and after a while (15mins or so) the Hero finally boot up, but the touchscreen wasn`t working and using it with the trackball the Hero was always prompting FC of android.process.acore (every 2 seconds more or less).
After watching that, I installed the official 1.5 of Orange hoping that it will fix it, but no way. Now it gets stuck in a loop while booting after the Orange bootscreen.
I tryed again to flash the WWE version, but with my old GoldCard doesn't seem to work (incorrect cid) and not being able to boot it up, I cannot create a new GoldCard or even root it.
I have tryed a lot of fastboot comands but I can do just little things because for the most useful things I need root.
Other thing that might be good to know is that when I plug the power to the Hero nothing happens, the led is not turning on, and I don't know how much battery I still have. Thank goodness that the battery was full before I moved the Hero to this infernal boot loop.
Please I will be so thankful if anyone can help me or just giving me any clue about how can I fix this.
I had the same problem on a refurbished hero I had. It had touchpanel fail in hboot and was in a constant loop.
I managed to get it to boot into android once by installing the ruu while in fastboot mode, however the touchscreen did not work and when I rebooted the phone it went back to the loop.
I sent the phone back for a replacement. If u check my previous threads ull see the thread icreated. In it I said that it had worked as that was when it finally booted but before I realised the sgreen didn't work
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Thank you for your reply, I will check your posts when I arrive home this evening.
hi.
I had the same problem and solve it by flashing this rom (goldcard needed)

[Q] Radio bricked?

Hi,
I just bought a HD2 secondhand from an online shop which was promised to me to be in working condition.
Tried booting it up and it was stuck at the Windows Mobile screen.
Managed to flash HSPL 2.08 (after 3-4 tries?) but when I tried to flash the radio, the tool indicated the current image was... nothing.
It simply didn't display any image version, I thought that was a little strange but I tried flashing 2.07.51.22.2 on it anyways.
A few other versions later (2.12.50.02.2, 2.14.50.02.2, 2.08.50.05, 2.15.50.14) and still no luck (it usually fails around 96% when I do it via USB and its stuck at nearly maximum when I try an SD flash)
Not entirely sure where it came from, but it is HTC branded T8585.
I've tried a Task 29 (though LEO Advanced RUU) which was successful. But still no luck with the radio.
Phone won't boot up most of the time - but I can still enter the bootloader.
Various screens I've got so far:
HTC screen (white background)
Screen with exclamation mark and triangle
Screen that says software update has failed
Sooo... any idea if the phone is salvageable? I've been looking around the forum but I've tried most of the above and don't know what else I can do.
Cheers.
Edit: Doesn't actually say FAIL when I use an SD. It just gets stuck at like 99/100% (full bar) with the words Update In Progress... and never progresses.

[Q] HTC one M7 bricked??? Please HELPPP

Hello everybody,
I am new here, but after many searches I found out that this forum can be quite useful. Unfortunately I couldn't find the answer to my problem. Here you go, I start very well for my first thread:
I just got a HTC one M7 international version GSM from a friend, very nice phone and it was already rooted and had Trickdroid installed on it. I started to talk to my friend and he told me I should install KIt Kat on the phone... and from there it went all wrong...
I tried to install a KIT KAT rom I found online, it didn't work and the phone wouldn't start anymore, I would just have access to recovery mode (CWM is installed) and fastboot/bootloader. From there, the phone wasn't recognized anymore by my pc when connected to USB. I then used a mini USB cable to connect a USB key with different .zip file to load them to the phone.
After many attemps, one file finally worked (all the other would abort installation), it was insertcoin M7 kustomizer... I know I should have had reloaded Trickdroid 11.0.0 on it, but it was taking ages to download and went the fast way... which was a really bad decision I guess.
After the installation of insertcoin, the phone rebooted and... rebooted...and keeps rebooting to the HTC white screen (with the red warning: this build is for...)... it goes on and on...
Only thing I can do is hold the volume down key when it reboots and then it takes me to fastboot/bootloader. From there when I try to go to recovery mode it goes to recovery mode for half a second and reboot directly to the white HTC screen over and over again....
Also, USB device is not recognized (but strange, HTC sync manager starts even though it tells me no phone is connected).
Now I have the Trickdroid 11 file ready (1.1GB) but there is no way to install it on the phone... I really don't see how to do it anymore, did I really screw up big time and my phone is more or less a dead weight?
I am going to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the end of the week, maybe someone will be able to find a solution for me...
I shouldn't have touched a phone that was working very well....I know...
Nobody? So my HTC one is dead?
Is the all in one tool going to help? I installed it but since my phone is not recognized by the computer (windows 8.1) when connected via USB, I don't seem to be able to do anything...

This is all if you can find a way to get files to your phone...
I'm not sure which recovery you have but when upgrading from Android 4.2.2, and 4.3 the recovery you are using needs to be updated to the most current version. For example if you are running TWRP recovery you need to be running TWRP 2.6.3.3 for everything to run smoothly. In order to do this though you will need to download your original ROM (No matter how long it takes). Then go google play store and download goo.im and update you recovery with openrecoveryscript and update from there and you should be fine. I would also like to note that it's fully recommended that when you flash 4.4 KK you do a full wipe. This means userdata/cache/dalvik cache wipe, otherwise you will run into problems. Let me know if I missed anything or if you have anymore questions!
Thank you, but unfortunately I still couldn't find a way to access the files on the phone, no matter what I do. The phone starts by itself to the HTC white screen when I connect it to the main to charge it... I can only access fastboot/bootloader... I feel useless...
I feel your pain

After my htc one freezing on the 'quietly trickdroid' loading screen my phone will now not turn on, AT ALL! I think it's screwed : S
I just arrived in Kuala Lumpur and took it to a little shop, they told me they will fix it for me by tomorrow for 50USD... I'll let you know tomorrow if they managed to make the magic happen. I think they would reinstall stock, but that's fine with me, much better than a bricked "rooted" phone. It will take me a while before I start to screw up with a phone again...

[Q] HTC EVO 3D Shuts down right after the Splash screen

Hey, I had a great history with my evo 3d. and a history of fixing lol. So i have a new issue and i am wondering if there is an explanation.
Well, When i turn on my EVO , it goes to the splash screen, and then once i see the boot animation , it shuts down and reboot to splash screen and keep doing the same thing,
I have 1.49 hboot (downgraded from 1.53 using flashmaniac method) My phone has S-OFF
Things i tried.
Flash custom rom on 1.53
Flash stock RUU on 1.53
Flash More than one rom. on both 1.53 and 1.49
I have full access to the bootloader ,recovery, fastboot
I have also relocked my phone and unlocked it again.
i am sensing that it is a hardware issue.
Note: in the stock rom (stock ruu) the phone crashes right after the splash screen However in custom rom it goes to the boot animation, and goes like 1 sec in it and then crashes
So i would love to fix this phone
btw, there is also something wrong with this evo. which made me thing that it is bricked for over 8 months.
Now, way before that, before it stopped working, i bricked it while flashing a custom rom (it had s-off and when connected it shows qhsubs etc) so my phone stayed on the shelf for a year, then my friend broke his evo screen so i took the board and replaced it with mine and the phone worked, for like 6 or more months, Then one day 8 months ago my phone just stopped working. and won,t charge boot etc, tried different batteries and stuff, but nothing, and when connected to pc it shows nothing, not even a beeb sound (windows notification sound).
But yesterday i found out that the phone is NOT Bricked. what i did was , i removed the battery , connected it to the charger and as usual, nothing. Well i removed the cable and placed it back just for fun, then i saw a very very very very dim light (even more dim than the Bricked light) it turns on for a second. then goes off. i saw that and i freaked out because i tried everything and then suddenly it shows this, Now the phone did not work or anything, so i placed the battery and the led turned on and it was charging,. i went to the boot loader and everything was fine. but again i still can,t seem to boot any rom
Things i will try : Flash CM 11 rom
