This is a minimalist ui for sure. I'll try it out for a bit and get back.
Edit: Good job. AOSP keyboard needs gesture fixed (this is common).

the menu structure does take some getting used to.
other than that, so far so good.
good job.
I have to say something because im afraid this post will be overlooked. This is without a doubt the best ROM ported/developed for the i717. Believe me I've tried them all. I am coming from my heavily modded liquid smooth kk, to a plain vanilla install of this, and the difference is like night and day. The OP has really outdone himself with choosing this ROM for the i717. I haven't seen performance like this from a vanilla install since cm9 or blackstar x. Perfect up-to-date daily driver for anyone, system ui FC's every once in awhile nothing really aggrevating, and the ROM itself is just great. Notifications only take the space they need to display just like in lp. The launcher has no app drawer, easily fixable for someone who prefers one. Kudos to the OP

Sadly, its 7.0 -_- Reminder: Chinese version is already at 7.1.1. Why EU users are treated so badly ZTE?? ):
just take a look at the link. it's from channel designed for beta testers, it even says words nougat tester and has a date of 24.01.. so it's just the beta released as full to shut the "haters" on the internet.

It is asking for authorization ...
Please guys report back if it's the same butchered Version the US got. Try to send a photo via Whatsapp please and tell me if it lags
Waiting for the 7.1.1 update.

Just installed it 10 min ago.
So far, it is rather smooth.
WhatsApp works fine (sending photos, changing status etc.) and overall I have the feeling that there is a slight increase in performance and speed.
No Daydream though as far as I can see.

Yes, but I would still love to have it running, it has the latest security patch. It's probably on the same level as the Chinese 7.1.1 release.
There are too many speculations. I think that the only difference between the models is the modem and a couple of bloatware apps. That's it.
That "beta" is literally taking longer because of EU regulations, the 7.0 release we are getting is from 24.01.2017!. It's ancient.
They probably took the B15, re-branded it as B01 or something and slapped their modem/apps onto the software.

I'm on it. Will post when its ready.
So far everything runs smooth. But if it is indeed the US' B15 version as a base I'll look at the performance again in a few hours.
Sadly there is no Daydream yet, so my Daydream View has to gather some more dust on my desk :S
On the other hand it could be a good sign that there is already some testing out on the 7.1.1.
Maybe we will get that update a little bit faster...
Any mirror yet? Please?

So I've ordered my my first Android phone, the Le Max 2 X829 and while I wait for it to arrive I am thinking about what Custom ROM to install.
I'm wanting something fairly stable for daily use and that won't drain my battery any faster.
At the moment I thinking of using Lineage OS.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Again same question, just read the forum.
Best of luck to you, for a 1st android phone you sure picked a rough phone to learn the fun of customization..
Well I do think that the best rom so far for customization is resurrection remix which has a lot of options and it's really stable, but If you like EUI you can check other roms
Mokee :victory:
I join the question, what would be the best rom currently available? There are so many ...
Most seem to have basic funcionalitys missing , like "camera not working" , which a consider unacceptable.
Maybe question should be different, which ROM has everything (or the most) working in an acceptable manner?
Thanks

Hello,
I can not install the latest Chinese version (23s). I went through the different threads and tried to install custom ROMS. Every time, the same problems: no way to use the Gapps without it crashing, or the phone restarts. If the stock allows me a normal use of the phone, would you have a method with clear steps to install it?

I'm on 23s stock rom. I think its the most stable rom. Very happy with it
All custom ROMs for Max2 are either buggy, laggy, and have some functions missing or completely untrustworthy.
I mean you must be totally crazy to the point of being an utter idiot to run something prepared by God knows whom and trust your phone with your personal data. You may as well publish all your passwords right here in this forum. I don't understand this obsession with closed source ROMs.
I bought this phone and it's been lying switched off for the past two weeks because I don't know what to run. No options whatsoever.
The official Chinese ROM has tons of stuff I don't want to run and their launcher totally sucks (I'm a Pure Android (read Nexus/Pixel) devotee).

Why did you buy it then? What did you expect? Did you not read up on here before buying?
You should buy a pixel or oneplus instead. I run Chinese rom with nova launcher and its good enough for daily use for sure. I really want a oneplus 3t but I am too tight at the moment to bring myself to pay 3 times as much for similar spec but I know the software experience will be loads better.
One thing I would wish for is better battery life but guess it's the immense screen killing it.

A dirt cheap SD820 device with excellent specs.
No, unfortunately I didn't read up on the ROMs situation with this phone. I mean I visited these forums and I saw many ROMs available and people were telling that a fingerprint scanner didn't work (which I don't care at all because I will never use it since I'm actually a security person). I didn't realize this phone camera barely functions with custom ROMs, I didn't realize for instance that LineageOS (which I thought I would be using) was so laggy and its maintainers didn't care.

I guess you don't trust Windows, iOS as they are all closed or you just don't trust chinese rom? And also a little strange you trust custom rom made by someone from internet. Then why buy a chinese phone? What if they put something in the chip to get your info?

Microsoft and other companies (including LeEco) have a reputation to keep.
ROM developers don't even have real names. Your perception of the world is clearly skewed.
And no, I don't trust Windows 10, while I fully trust any Windows that came before it (including Windows 95). Oh, btw, there were Windows before 95, but you're probably not aware of them.

From the rumors I've heard, it will be a stock Android build with some ZTE customizations such as Dolby Atmos among others and will be released around April, possibly a little before depending on how the testing goes. The build was being referred to as Stock UI+, so if they stick to the stock build and then just add a few of their modifications such as Dolby etc, I think we will have a nice rom to enjoy. I'm hoping what I've heard comes to fruition, and so far it seems to be. I agree that it would be nice if ZTE did ramp it up to 8.1 so the build would be as current as possible, and would also like for it to have the newest security patch when released and not something a month old.

To include me in that company is flattering, but also misleading. I'm only a beginner myself.
I'm working on it independently, and I don't anticipate much collaboration with the LOS guys. They seem to prefer doing their own thing. You can track my work (and submit PRs if you'd like to contribute!) at https://github.com/kiwi-o

If you have anything that could help me, I'd be very grateful
Then just write me a PM
I hoped it will released very soon

As you can see on github, there actively working on it.
But it takes time because there many under-the-hood changes between nougat and oreo.

I’ve heard of some work on it, and some of the devs that worked on nougat roms ( on xda)have a rom that they’ve compiled, but it’s not on xda(?). I know the dev that made aicp rom for kiwi, is one.

There are two, actually. Neither of them boot.
Android Pie is out. I guess this is the end for the Honor 5X?

Not really. There still some devs out there who are actively developing on nougat, kernels or on porting oreo to kiwi.

Keep it up, if I had a spare one, I would help.

The link you posted doesn't work. I get a 404. I'm curious though, have you gotten it to boot? Because as I said, Android P is on the horizon, and we haven't gotten a build that boots at the very least. Do you think there is any hope at all?

The person who made the ROM I use (AICP) may still be working on it, but he's not on XDA.

Don't know, but don't ask that question, you'll get negative feedback here. Don't pay attention to any post that claim there's a LOS 15 for it(don't ask in their forum, they'll cuss you out). Devs are very ego- centric, and will say don't ask, or do it yourself. I don't really care too much anymore, and will replace this with a phone that can get Oreo(or pie), soon, as this seems to be a lost cause now.
