Hello there
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S3 which has Android version 4.1.2 on it. I have read a lot about the battery consumption and how it's not that good due to the large screen and the phone's hardware capabilties and I can live with that. I also installed the GSam battery monitoring application as per recommendation, and I find that all the rates are very normal and expected, however it really pisses me off that the battery drains quite A LOT while the phone is sleeping overnight. I mean the phone was at 100% at 3 AM and then I woke up at 11 AM and it was already at 81%! I don't think that's quite normal.
3G was on, so I am not sure if that could be causing it? Also I checked GSAM and all the rates seem to be normal and nothing above the average.
I have attached two screen shots of the GSAM battery monitoring application and would like to hear your opinions regarding this if possible.
Thank you for your time.
This is normal i think, my battery is also draining. Try other rom/kernel with less mhz

its far from normal, it shouldnt drain that much!!
I'd uninstall that trial xtreme 3 app at the top of the list and see how you go...

Thanks for replying, guys.
I don't think it's normal, bms, because I used to have a HTC One X which had a MUCH worse battery but it didn't drain nearly as much in sleep mode.
Mike, I'm going to try that although I think it says that Xtreme 3 is using that percentage because I played it WHILE charging the device, but not after it was full. Not too sure, though. If that doesn't work, I might go the route of rooting the device and installing a custom ROM. I remember on the HTC One X Android Revolution and Viper were my favorites, so might go for either one if they're available for the S3 as well. Thanks again for your help.

maybe apps cause the battery drain fast even you tried turn off every communication ....or the battery already leak...
try turn on stamina mode ....
kill some useless(not use at all) apps...
maybe reinstall stock JB back may help solve this issue ....
if this issue still happen I suggest you to send Xperia P to sony central (last option)..
Imo there is something installed that is sucking the battery, i suggest you to do factory reset and am sure it will be good.

i flashed the last official jb a.100 (i think) and the issue was there, so i flashed the moonbreaker rom, and the issue is still there...
i don't know, i will ask my gf when this will hapen again, but i think it takes 5 or 6 hours like normal charge..

Well, battery drain issue can't be solved on Xperia P. Running on 1500mAH battery with a Dual Core processor, 1GB RAM, White Magic Display, the Xperia P can't provide that battery life one would expect. But as you said 86 -> 69 -> 18 is something very unusual. Try flashing the ROM again or repairing it with SUS. If it don't solve the problem, contact SONY and confirm that you are using a battery which is not damaged.

Hi what mode do you keep your tablet in when not using it ? As this whole last week, my tablet has been sleeping and im thinking is it worth me leaving it on sleep ? While im not using the tablet ? As i do lose about 6% battery over 14 hour period.. So my question is shall i shut the Sony Xperia Tablet Z down or leave it too sleep ? What do you guys and gals do ?
I keep my me in sleep mode all the time but just toggle the Airplane mode On when I am done for the day. It will dramatically increase your battery life! When ready to use just switch it back to WiFi.

Hello,
That's right that "shutdown & start" decreases battery, but long sleep gives me problems like slower wifi or unstable, slower apps, lags,...
I think it depends which apps/widgets you have.
We use multi-users.
The tablet is not rooted, everything is "Sony official" (not like on Xperia S that needed to be... refreshed).
Regards,
Vinz

Hi !
Updated answer
With the updated tablet
Since the new version of Android, you probably noticed that shutting down takes a long long time...
So, now, I use Sleep mode BUT I cut Wifi before. It changed my way to use the tab because my battery is better and I didn't notice any lags, Wifi problems,...

I leave mine to sleep, loose 0% overnight with stamina mode enabled, If i shut it down and restart in the morning it looses about 3-5% during shutdown and rebooting.

Stamina mode really does work! Don't forget to enable it. I think there is no need to go into airplane mode but I do it regardless and battery life is really good!

Hello guys I just bought P10 from a friend with latest update mui 5.1 on L09c432B150.
I'm full with 4G but I think battery isn't going well.. Is there any problem with draining on new update? Or should I go on service for a new battery?
Here are my screen shots
Hi,
I do confirm, the battery of P10 is horrible.
The situation was very same with previous fw releases.
Just in case you may try factory reset.

That's bad...I usually get around 4-5 hours of S.O.T. In my case the WiFi+ feature was draining. I got around 5ours of S.O.T in my house but when I was outside that dropt to around 3. Got better when I turned WiFi+ off. Still draines harder when I am not on WiFi.
I've just disabled WiFi+. Let's see.

Battery life only 4 hours here with full brightness and Data on (not wifi)
Battery life is still horrible.
This phone is on the way to the bin...

software is b151, im using two simcards
i see in changelog of b163 something is done with power management, so i hope when get update battery life will be better
Hello, how can i improve battery on a l09 model? Could someone explain "debranding" that I saw in another thread I'm not sure what that does or how it improves battery life.
My phone is in German but you should buy able to manage it out. Those are my settings in the battery settings. If you could click on the graph (where it says 100% for me) and post a screenshot I might be able to see what's draining your battery.

What's your sot? I uninstalled some system apps through adb but it doesn't seem to change battery life.
I get a lil over 5 hours sot.
This is my everyday battery life. Some days I get even 6 h.

This is right now.
I did a rebrand to the b151, wipe cache and ever since this is how battery behaves.
Enviado desde mi VTR-L29 mediante Tapatalk
Could you outline what you did to get that sot? I'd really appreciate it.
I don't use Facebook or Snapchat, just basic maps and YouTube.
I didn't do much really, after the rebrand y updated using firmware finder, then wipe cache.
On the battery settings there's an option to kill apps when screen is off, I enable this for all the apps (still get WhatsApp notifications in time).
On the application settings there's an. Option to ignore battery optimizations, the only one there is Google services since it can't be disabled.
That's pretty much everything. I have wifi+ always on, as you see Facebook and WhatsApp drain battery like hell but still I'm pretty much happy with this phone's battery.

Some time ago I found on the internet battery test. They were able to check battery capacity and to my suprise the result was, that genuine samsung battery lies on the label. it is around 200mAh less than it says. So instead of 3000mah our battery is only around 2800mah. The best choice according to that test is german battery EXREMECELLS which lies only aroung 60mAh. Anyone has tried those batteries and can share an opinion, maybe thats a better option that genuine one?

I have purchased but im still waiting to arrive cuz of xmas but i dont have tools to measure battery capacity.
But according to them they offer good batteries.
Is time to replace cuz is old the stock one 2.8y old
All those who sell and say genuine they all fake china one.

Now if there were a way to fit in a over-sized battery ....that would be a pretty cool mod.
Had a extended battery in my s4 back in the day, but the glued on back cover on the s7 would make a extended battery difficult to install

Hi bro battery is good but i personally i don't see any difference. Because im heavy user, But quality of battery is good.
Get a Nohon battery from AliExpress, I have been using one for the past month and it's still going strong and shows 90+% battery health. Don't forget to reset your cycle counter after replacing the battery as this influences the maximum battery voltage.
Hi
Howcan i reset cycle counter after replacing the battery.

Here the same. All batteries that I ordered were fake. They were either only 30g or around 2000mha. Where can I get a good battery?
I can only recommend anyone NOT to buy any batteries from any ordinary internet shop. Especially not in the ones claiming to sett "original Samsung batteries".
When I needed a new battery some weeks ago I searched a bit and finally chose to buy a battery from a German shop named "Premium Akku". I even contacted them and explicitly asked then if the batteries are REAL original Samsung batteries, which they confirmed. So I ordered, and after installing it I noticed right away that the battery percentage already dropped by 4 % between two consecutive restarts. I recharged it, tested it for about a week, but it did not even hold one day and I experienced extrem sudden drops in the battery percentage of up to 40% within seconds (!).
I inspected the battery and at first couldn't tell it was fake, it looked legit. But after looking more closely I noticed some differences, I've posted them in a separate thread in case anyone is interested. After confronting the shop they didn't commented at all one the battery being fake and only offered an exchange, which I declined.
My recommendation is just contact the Samsung support, I did so via the live chat on their website. After only a few minutes I had contact with a service person, whom I explained I'm searching for a replacement battery but like to install it myself. He immediately sent me a company, which I contacted and got my original Samsung battery for 27€ + shipping in only a few days. For Germany the service company is
ASCI Elektro Service GmbH
06196 9340209
[email protected]
But I recommend you to just contact Samsung first, I'm sure there are similar companies in other countries as well.
^Get a OEM replacement.
