I've had this phone about 3 months. The past week or so I'm occasionally losing internet signal when I'm not connected to wifi. I always had to reboot the phone every time it happened, enable/disable data did absolutely nothing. Fine when connected to wifi though?? . Also it's not just in one area, it's everywhere? Anybody here is in the same boat?
yep, same thing happening here.
i try to put the network mode on gsm/wcdma/lte auto, nothing happens.
only helps when i turn it to wcdma only mode.
but then i could lose network signal in some places.

I've been hiving this strange issue for a couple of months now.
Hi,
I own an Optimus one Currently running on Froyo Final + franco v19 set at 729/480, smartass. (None of this matters now) Anyway...
Whenever I'm home, the signal is in full strength. However, when I travel, or am at a different destination, there is a constant signal loss.
Signal bar will be at 100% and then suddenly it'll drop to emergency mode and then start hunting for signal. This happens very frequently and drains my battery.
At first I thought this was a rom issue and so I reinstalled everything from scratch (no titanium restores) only to find out that the problem cropped up again.
I switched back to my stock froyo rom which I'd backed up some 4 months ago and the problem didn't seem to go away!
So the only 2 suspects now left are the phone itself, and the sim card.
What am I supposed to do now? Has anyone else experienced such a problem?

Sounds like the phone fails to switch between BTSes properly depending on signal strength, not to mention the failed signal display. RMA it. (Either way, we would not fix your faulty SIM either). Talk to the guys who sold you the phone.

Sir, this is a GSM phone, not a satellite one.

I suspected that too. But the thing is, it was all ok a couple of months before. So its really hard to tell whether its the sim fault or the phone fault. I think I'll talk to the vodafone people first and see if they're able to assist. If not, then rma it is
I would like to know if it was resolved. My wife has the LG P500 model and it drops signal when not at home. LG some how is ignoring our complaints, I've gone for a new sim, but no luck. I'm on the official stock 2.3.3
Edit:
Updated from v20b to v20c, hoping it fixes the issue.

For me it was because I'd set the network mode to GSM/wcdma auto. The moment I set it to Gsm only or wcdma only, the problem disappeared

Alternatively you can go to dialer and press on *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone infomation and scroll down and click on gsm auto prl. Default i think is wcdma preferred which is 3G only while GSM Auto uses 2G when 3G is unavailable

I already have GSM only, tried GSP auto prl which changes the signal icon into roaming mode, so switched back to GSM only.
Guys, Is anybody else experiencing that your cellular signal drops slowly from 4 to 3, then 3 to 2, then 2 to 1, then 1 to 0 then up again slowly?
Im the paranoid guy around here and Im having thoughts that my cellular antenna might be broken.
It already happened to me 4 times. yesterday, I was watching my phone, it was lying in bed and its signal drop from full to none then non to full.
Another time is when I was testing it earlier, holding it every possible way to test what part of the phone the antenna is located.
The result seems random. When I hold it in a specific position, the signal drops. But when I try it again in the same position, it doesnt loose signal.
PLEASE HELp!
Bottom of the phone > holding will reduce signal .

Guys help me out on this.
Hey there,
I had this problem as well, it happens when your phone is set to automatic network detection, and there is full GSM coverage and a very poor HSDPA coverage. You need to set it to GSM only so that you have a stable signal. Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile Networks -> Network mode and change it to GMS only. Hope it helped.
Im on GSM Only Mode

i was using gsm only some time ago and noticed that some phone calls dont get through, then i switched to gsm/cdma auto prl and it was all fine again even having 0-1 bars of signal strenght
Maybe its a modem issue? Some modems have greater signal strength than others.
Try flashing a modem through odin
KI4 works great for me
hey is anybody experiencing mobile data disconnected most of the time,
im on meanbean rom, and i been experiencing this ever since i got the phone is pretty annoying because i use the network alot, i have to turn it off/on if that dont work, i also try airplane on/off but i have to do that most of the time. We have no 4glte in CT still but i have not experience this with my other evos
is there away to fix this, so it could be more stable i dont think the problem is with sprint, i think is my phone,
a have also flash the night mode zip, update my prl and profile seem to help but not for long
any help thanks
This is an issue with every lte phone and it has to do with your network mode. If you don't have lte in your area switch your network mode from cdma/lte to cdma only. You should keep a steady 3g connection after that.

yeap. most networks are now on eHRDP or whatever its called and sometimes when it loses connection it takes a while to re-establish no idea why. for simplicity sake just turn your LTE off and move to CDMA (auto PRL) for now. then you wont get any drops.

I have LTE coverage and this happens to me at least once a day. If I leave my phone off for a little while and come back to it the 4G symbol will be there but it will be grayed out and will not upload or download and eventually it will say disconnected. The only way to fix it I can tell is to cycle Airplane mode which sucks but it is what is it. Glad to see its everyone's problem not just mine.

My wife and I bought Verizon LG G3s on the same day last month. Lately mine has been dropping from LTE to 3G most of the time. Hers is always LTE. This happens when the phones are in the same location.
IS there anything in the settings that might be causing this problem and is there anything I can do to get back consistent LTE?
My phone does the same. Once it switches to 3g from 4g it has a rough time going back. My wife's g2 doesn't have this problem. Since we can't update our radio's I suggest making airplane mode your best friend.
Do you me toggling airplane mode on and off solves the problem for you?
What I don't get is that after going Airplane mode or turning off Call Data, and then turning it back on again my phone will sync at -93dbm LTE for a little bit, maybe 2 minutes or so, but as soon as it goes to sleep and I wake it up it lands at -103dbm and never back at -93dbm.
I think the radio in these phones has problems.
I don't know if this will help or not but when I bought my G3 "global" mode was default instead of LTE/CDMA.
Try changing it and see if that helps.
Settings
Mobile networks
System select
Network mode
-change global to lte/cdma
Mine is on global. The other choice, LTE, GSM,UMTS is greyed out. However, my phone is on 4gLTE at the moment.
Switched mine from Global to LTE/CDMA and the signal strength jumped to -93dbm but a minute later it was back to -102dbm.
When this issue occurs do you see a SIM icon with a question mark in it? Ive been having an issue where it drops from 4g to LTE and that icon appears, toggling airplane mode or restarting the phone fixes it. Im going to try getting a new SIM next time it occurs, but im definitely worried about getting a replacement phone that is on the "C" software version (no root right now)

No I have not seen a SIM card icon. It's purely a signal issue. I rarely if ever drop out of 4G where I live but I wonder why the signal starts out at something like -93 until the phone goes to sleep and then ends up at a solid -103dbm.
Seems weird.
Power management on the radio might be too aggressive as the phone warms up ?

I'm experiencing an odd issue on the SD RedMi Note 4 of my wife (ROM: v8.5.8.0 NCFMIED): where LTE signal is weak and other mobiles switch to GSM (2G) and are still reachable, the RedMi of my wife is still trying to get LTE signal, ending up offline for _long_ times.
I tried to switch preferred mode to "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" (mido default choice when "prefer LTE" is selected is "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS", which appears to include the Chinese 3G standard too) like my OnePlus 3, which never looses network, but it didn't help: the only way to have it reliably reachable is switching to "GSM only".
I didn't find anything relevant neither by searching nor by browsing the first 30 pages of this subforum: is there anything we can do to improve this? Thanks!
go to about phone. tap multiple times on total memory, a window will open up. open phone information 1,2. choose type of network you want from multiple options

That indeed solves the issue as I wrote, but I don't think that my wife would be happy if I tell her she has to check the signal all the time and, eventually, _try_ to manually switch to "GSM only", and go back when the signal strength improves... that should be modem job!
Update: the affected SIM was in slot 2; moving the SIM to the first slot seems to improve the mode switch. Still the sensitivity doesn't seem exceptional, or perhaps there is some other issue (1), but at least it seems to correctly switch from 4G to 3G and even 2G where the signal is weak.
Testing in "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" mode now (I don't need TD-SCDMA here, I assume there is less overhead with less modes); wondering whether is a modem (read: Qualcomm) issue or a MIUI bug.
(1) sometimes the device still looses the network where my OP3 seems connected with very weak signal (-105 dBm) and LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" (which sounds odd since eCFSB is a CDMA thing, and there aren't any CDMA network here in Italy AFAIK: could it be the way LTE Discover tells that the phone is unable to handshake an existing network?), until it reconnects. Moreover, it seems that RN4 tends to prefer 3G over 2G even when mobile data is off, which is not a good strategy IMO.
Edit: LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" also on OP3, which works perfectly: it seems its shown when the terminal was unable to successfully register on a network and stays idle until the next connection attempt
I have sort of similar and opposite problems in the USA.
Mine switches from LTE to whatever H+ is and then never switches back on its own. I'm blaming Xiaomi over Qualcomm.

I tried it, it worked if I used the root option and manually hit the refresh button. I read that the auto refresh only works if the signal is one bar or whatever or less.
My signal is strong when it's on H+, so it would never get low enough to make it auto refresh.
What I need is something that would switch my preferred network to Prefer 3G and back to Prefer LTE whenever I'm on H+ for a while, because that gets me back on LTE every time provided that there's LTE in that area.
My Redmi Note 4x international should be capable to connect to the 1800mhz band, which is available in my neighborhood. Sadly I haven't had 4g or LTE since I've gotten this phone (4 weeks) any ideas why it won't connect?

Thank you: started testing. It seems that, despite the better signal, even after refreshing the device still ignores 2G and tries to connect in LTE or H+ mode. I'll see in the next days.

Yep, that's very same issue I'm experiencing. I was feeling alone: in the MI forums I couldn't find no one complaining about that.
Did you notice that when the device connects to a Wi-Fi network the cellular signal indicator suddenly rises (it appears to indicate Wi-Fi signal strength) and appears "4G" next to operator's name, even if cellular data is off?
Too bad, if RN4 didn't have such a bugged radio it was a real bang for the buck.

Try to get some more info from the "LTE Discovery" app: is the device registered on the 4G network but internet access is absent or the device doesn't even register on the 4G network? Does the device detect the 4G signals?
In this thread we are discussing about the opposite problem: our devices don't switch to 2G when the signal is weak...

Unfortunately it didn't help: it doesn't seem to improve overall operation. It even asks to refresh the Wi-Fi connection when there is no cellular signal...
There is really something ill in this modem. Sometimes the signal indicator shows Wi-Fi signal strength instead of cellular. I hope some future release will fix at least some of these issues.

Thank you. I think it's not necessary: since yesterday I'm running MIUI v9.0.3.0 and things improved considerably. I'm quite sure the issue was MIUI 8 which had a complete modem mess, not the app, that was doing its honest work just as it was possible.
