Solution is not from android programmer, rather geek
Hi there... so, i was pretty dissapointed with lack of S-View functionality on CM13, S4 Mini. It was great feature, that was doing really good job with magnetic cover.
If you tried to do something with it, you probably experienced some problems with magnetic sensor (or you were smarter than me). It prevented to turn on screen with power button on any custom lockscreen from market, that was better than cm's stock one. In terms of 'better' i have in mind a lockscreen... that has f*** clock in right spot for case's window I was trying to bring it back with various results, but finally i achieved (i think) the best possible solution, turning lockscreen into S-View screen.

What it does right: showing time and basic info about battery, calls, msgs, next alarm, notifications (from gmail, fb messeger - that part is actually very customizable).
What it doesn't do at all: doesn't let you pick up calls, turn off your alarm via window and do any stuff that requiers touching via window. Magnetic sensor basicaly turns off that feature when case is closed. Showing info about playing track is not worth activating (because of space).
So, we need xposed installed and then download module: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.ssrdroide.lockscreenwidgets
And the widget we are gonna use is dashclock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.dashclock (or you can use more advanced alternative: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kk.widget)
Step 1. First thing you wanna do is to configure widget the way you want - download some extensions for it (like battery info). I highly recommend to use DashNotifer to get notifications from custom apps like fb messenger (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.umang.dashnotifier It's already there in KK Widgets). Test it on your homescreen for now and find configuration that suits you.
Step 2. will be add widget to lockscreen via xposed module. This configuration (http://i.imgur.com/iiJMK7w.png) will keep your widget in case's window, when owner info will be out of it on same time. There is also something to mention - if you will not turn off notifications on lockscreen they will move your widget little higher (depending on number of notifications).
So... 1. If you wanna keep your notifications on lockscreen, set container 'y' translation to something around -150. Widget will stay in window regardless number of notifications.
2. If you wanna remove notifications for that cause, set container 'y' translation to -175. Widget will be in perfect spot for the whole time.
That works for standard DPI.
And that's it. It works perfectly with magnetic sensor.
For better effect you can change your wallpaper to black (worth it). That's however will change when you will listen to music, you can turn this option off or use this xposed module to paint it black for good: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.generalbrus.brightlockscreen
Another thing is alarm. It happens that Timely has clock in perfect spot when activated and can be controlled with physical buttons
I'm super happy with result. It's not exactly what you could achieve with real S-View, but it does good job
If you have better solutions share it in thread!

A few questions...
Anyone use the stock photo album widget? I have one on one of my screens for when my phone is in its dock at work. It works fine when it is in the dock bc It's charging, and I have it set to keep the screen on when charging. However, when it is out of the dock, and the screen goes off, when I turn it back on, the most recent image is all it shows and it will not go into rotation. I have to open it back up and say "OK" to my selected pictures to get it working again. I don't have any battery saving or task killing aps, so I know I don't accidentally have it set to auto end on screen off. All I have is the stock Samsung Task Manager.
Know of any fixes for this? Maybe try another widget like it on the market?
Also, I came from an Atrix and they had a task manager that I just simply loved. It was smooth and simple and I could add what I wanted to an auto end list. As far as I know, Samsungs T.M. doesn't allow this, and all the apps I find on the market do more than I want it to. I don't want something like Juice defender or what not. Just something simple that allows me to put stuff in an auto end list when screen goes blank. Does stock Samsung T.S. do this and I am just not seeing it? Any 3rd party apps you suggest for this function?
Last thing... Know of any widgets that ACCURATELY show info like CPU speed and temp that is transparent? I like a very materialistic look and I am not liking the black background of the Antutu widgets.
Something that would look good with this...

This is an app request. It seems like something on of you whiz bang developers could whip out easily. I've upgraded from the EVO to a G2 as my daily use device (I still have my EVO as a backup.) The G2 has a little more horsepower and some nice features, but I find that I miss having HTC Car, and it worked so well with my Sprint Navigation card dock.* There is no Car app on the G2 - there isn't even an implementation of the Google Car Mode app - at least not on the LS980.
As I understand it, the HTC Car app has some sense dependencies, so you cannot just extract the apk. (I tried that.) I leave the technical details up to the dev, whether you port the existing app or whip up a doppleganger. For the most part this app seems dead simple, but I found it far safer to run while I commute.
Here's my last plea before the specs and reference photos: Car Apps out there suck, and there is a huge void in the market for a simple, effective app that
Feature Requests:
1) Install as an APK, no Sense proprietary dependencies.
2) Works on most Android devices, scale the UI to fit most displays.
3) Auto-start app when connected to bluetooth device.
4) Auto-quit app when disconnected from bluetooth device.
5) Phone mode (optional, at least a dialer shortcut)
6) Allow User to add large-tile shortcuts to a limited number of apps.
7) Landscape interface
8) Vertical interface (optional)
9) Navigation
MINIMUM : Launch to Google Navigator
OPTIONAL : Replicate the simple Car Navigation UI** [These are really optional, I hardly ever used this stuff, but some might find them useful]
OPTIONAL : Replicate the Google Calendar Appointments feature that chooses destinations based on your calendar items.
OPTIONAL : Replicate Previous destination list.
**The Car Navigation UI appears to be simply a series of shortcuts to Google Maps searches: Gas Station, Food, Parking, Cafes, Bars, ATM, Pharmacy, Shopping, Emergency.
I'll post some reference photos.

*BTW: If you open the Sprint Navigation Car Dock, it is rudimentary to remove the charging chip. If you take that out, the dock works fantastically for the LG G2. I use it with a Diztronic TPU case and it still fits great. A wee bit tight, but it fits.
Last call, casual readers, if you think replicating this app would be a good idea, please at least leave a reply and say so. I doubt a dev would take on a task like this if there is little community interest. If you have moved on to another phone as your primary device, or if you still run the EVO on a Non-Sense ROM, you could benefit from this too. The simplest implementation of this app should work on any android device.

I just wanna understand if a dev is here so he can explane Why dose Propebly All the downloadable watch faces dose have the simple little digital always on face?
I have actually yet not downloaded or bought One single damn watch face wich has a watch other than the digital face!!! Even if i buy a Analog w face.
I use the Always on watch function, and love the look of the Analog watch types wich comes with the watch faces oem in the GS.
The standard digital face is too cheep looking and ugly in my opinion!!! :S
Is the any way to fix this? I even used watches from the Watch styles, and its the same :S
Another thing wich is irretating is that in GS store non of the devolopers dose show what the watch looks like in the "always on" mode.

This is the digital always face
And the analog always face on wich comes with the first oem watch face.
Another oem
Because it seem there are no API (in Tizen SDK) to made a watchface with a low power (or always on) mode
Developper can not build a watchface like the Samsung original
I would very much like to get feedback from Sammy or a dev! Its just to lame that they wouldn't put it in the sdk ?
Because Samsung is run by a bunch of retards who don't understand or care about their customers. This is such a massive and huge limitation. I'd kill for a Mickey Mouse always on watch face.
Although, knowing Samsung, they will get it right eventually after copying things from the first few iterations of the apple watch. Such a shame really, since the Gear S is so much more advanced.
Always On Support Added
Sorry to reserect an old tread but I seen this on another Always On thread on here

2) Always on mode
3) Steps % source
4) Change language of Digitalclock component
5) Timezone, Calendar property
6) Connection over Bluetooth.

Does anyone know if anyone has updated any existing clocks to use the analogue always on feature or how to go about it?
Hi everyone,
I've just moved from my trusty LG G6 to a new SAmsung S9 Plus UK version (Exynos 9810) and so far I'm pretty happy, love the screen, the responsiveness and it's a lovely looking phone although slippery as a fish without a case, managed to find a good case/screen protector combo but took a while. Have gone for the Whitestone Doma which is an awesome screen protector but was really frustrated to get bubbles in the glue which shouldn't happen..
Anyway Its only really day 3 or 4 and I realise things may change in time but have some observations and wondered if anyone here could help please.
1) Standby drain, seems like many people have this so have downloaded Package Disabler Pro for Samsung and I am experimenting but its not anywhere near as good as my G6 at the moment. Guess this is trial and error but have already disabled much of the Samsung stuff, I'm a little apprehensive when it comes to system packages though as you never know if its going to mess things up completely.
2) On both the AOD and in the android shutter if I get 2 notifications from an app, they both show separately, I have a Xiaomi camera and if I get more than one alert of movement all notifications are separate and I wanted to know how to nest them so it only showed me once that I had notification for that app.. (hope that makes sense) cant find any way to do this. This isn't the problem of double notifications as I've seen but I hope you get what I mean.
3) LG has a built in service called Smart Settings which basically says things like if you go out of your current location turn Wi-fi off , when you get back into your location turn wifi on, if you start this app, turn on bluetooth, if you plug in headphones start this app.. etc..
It appears theres nothing like that on Samsung so could anyone recommend a 3rd part app that may help me achieve this as I miss it.
4) Does anyone know if S9 Plus will get 8.1? or will it go straight to P..
5) Forgot to add, I have a different photo viewer installed, I use F-Stop but for some reason in the camera app when you take a picture and press the gallery button it always defaults to the Samsung gallery app. Does anyone know how this can be changed please?
Thanks for listening guys, any help appreciated.
Wayne
1. Give it a couple of weeks for the system to settle. Just use it as it is without disabling any apps.
2. I don't know if you can do that system wide. I know some apps have that option.
3. Try LLama
4. No idea
5. Open settings and search for "default"
There you should be able to set default apps
I've provided a screenshot so you can see how it looks like
Hope it helps

I am trying to configure a phone for an elderly person who has severe arthritis.
Thus far, I have implemented BaldPhone, which provides a simplified interface with large icons that responds only to long touches. Responding only to long touches is critical, as it prevents accidental touches from causing unwanted behavior.
Unfortunately, I have not yet found a way to disable the swipe up that is required to open the phone (the physical action of swiping is a problem) or to ignore accidental swipe-downs that open the top menu and cause unwanted changes in settings (sometimes, people with hand problems choose one finger to use and the rest of the hand just gets dragged along).
Any ideas?
Virtual navigation buttons are probably easier.
Something like Google Assistant or Bixby might be useful. Giving her a Marble mouse track ball for navigation may help, very ergonomic.
DMSO applied topically will reduce inflammation and pain a lot, 2-3X @ day. Use a good antioxidant package for long term use as it's a super free radical scavenger ie Krebs cycle chain.
Samsung has features like this for dexterity.

Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for suggesting google assistant, but talking is a problem too!
Unfortunately, having multiple physical items connected by wires is likely to create another source of problems. I would like to keep everything enclosed in a single phone or tablet.
Thanks for the note on Samsung. I wonder if there's any way to implement the same thing using an app or other downloadable software modification.
You're welcome. Lol, I was thinking you say the voice assistant was a no go. Personally I hate them.
You'll want a good case that's easy to grip with good drop protection. A case tether may also help but it may prove frustrating just like the wires.
I know what Samsung has for accessibility but only because I have a Samsung. Google searches is what I would do. Related forums that run into as you run those searches can be very useful for information.
