[Q] Why dose all the watchfaces have a digital always face on? - Samsung Gear S

I just wanna understand if a dev is here so he can explane Why dose Propebly All the downloadable watch faces dose have the simple little digital always on face?
I have actually yet not downloaded or bought One single damn watch face wich has a watch other than the digital face!!! Even if i buy a Analog w face.
I use the Always on watch function, and love the look of the Analog watch types wich comes with the watch faces oem in the GS.
The standard digital face is too cheep looking and ugly in my opinion!!! :S
Is the any way to fix this? I even used watches from the Watch styles, and its the same :S
Another thing wich is irretating is that in GS store non of the devolopers dose show what the watch looks like in the "always on" mode.

This is the digital always face
And the analog always face on wich comes with the first oem watch face.
Another oem

Because it seem there are no API (in Tizen SDK) to made a watchface with a low power (or always on) mode
Developper can not build a watchface like the Samsung original

I would very much like to get feedback from Sammy or a dev! Its just to lame that they wouldn't put it in the sdk ?

Because Samsung is run by a bunch of retards who don't understand or care about their customers. This is such a massive and huge limitation. I'd kill for a Mickey Mouse always on watch face.
Although, knowing Samsung, they will get it right eventually after copying things from the first few iterations of the apple watch. Such a shame really, since the Gear S is so much more advanced.

Always On Support Added
Sorry to reserect an old tread but I seen this on another Always On thread on here

[Known issue]
* Mac OS Command + Q hotkey makes program exit without asking to save current job.
* The following features are not yet supported on Gear S :
1) Launch after install
2) Always on mode
3) Steps % source
4) Change language of Digitalclock component
5) Timezone, Calendar property
6) Connection over Bluetooth.

Does anyone know if anyone has updated any existing clocks to use the analogue always on feature or how to go about it?

[FACE] Retro LCD for Facer

Just finished creating my first set of Facer watch faces, and thought I would offer them up for download. I plan to keep improving them, so stay tuned!
* NOTE: As of this posting, the only version that is available is for 320px by 320px devices. It was designed on the Gear Live, but plans are to create variants for 240px by 240px, and the round Moto 360/future devices.

step counter
Hi Scar,
I just noticed this morning (installed it last night) that the step counter display is fixed at 14995 (or something in that order) instead of the actual value of 38.
If you can export flat text of the code (or an idea of how to decode the binary), I can modify and test on my LG G Watch and get it back to you.
I'm not very familiar with Facer but I can give it a try.
Regards,
Rh.
nvm
I opened up Facer and edited the face myself. I did some small adjustments.
I raised the time, date, battery up and left 20 units each and removed the droid and the step counter. Those things are almost always covered by the google cards anyways.
Thank you very much for this watch face, it is definately my favourite.
I'm using a LG G Watch, btw.

Hey Ironman_stittsville,
Sorry I missed your message, but yea, the step counter inaccuracy is actually a known bug with Facer itself. The dev is great however, and while Facer still isn't at v1.0 yet, I imagine he'll get everything working soon enough.
Thanks for the kind feedback regarding my face though!
Hi all, quick note to let you know that I've updated the Retro LCD watch face (both normal and inverted) to remove the (buggy) step-counter, and instead replace with weather information, including icons.
Here's a shot of the new UI:

[Hack?] Control your PC from your watch

Here is the link to the full howto: http://wolfebaine.blogspot.com/2014/12/control-computer-from-android-wear.html
So I'm now the proud owner of an LG G Watch. After reading all the flame wars on whether Android Wear was the greatest thing since sliced bread or the worst thing since un-sliced bread I decided to be conservative and opted for a first gen watch before dropping too much cash on the "newest-greatest". I'm not going to add to the already gigantic pile of Wear reviews, suffice to say I'm satisfied with it for what it is and what I paid for it.
But that's not the point of this post. 90% of the reason I bought the watch wasn't for what it did, but rather what can I make it do??? So I got it, rooted it, and started sideloading apps (xda). What I ended up with was an android smartwatch that could also:
Play a movie (QQPlayer + ES File Explorer + Bluetooth Headset)
Run an NES Emulator (NES-FC Lite + Bluetooth controller)
Open my garage door (V1_Bluetooth_Arduino app + my bluetooth/arduino garage door setup)
None of these were really way out there as far as plausibility so I continued my hunt to push the limits of what this thing can do.
The one place I feel Android Wear falls short is the 'control' aspect of things. It is a fantastic little devices for providing you with information, but at the end of the day I should be able to tap the thing on my wrist to control my every day life.......
The closest thing I could find right now is the IFTTT integration. Bravo in general to this website and moreso for making it compatible with wear. They get it. Tap a button to cause an action somewhere in the real or digital world.
So after playing around with existing recipes (https://ifttt.com/android_wear) I remembered a post I saw a while ago about controlling your computer with IFTTT and Dropbox vis SMS.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-issue-a-command-to-your-computer-with-a-text-message/
The premise is exactly the same except instead of using SMS as the trigger, you'll use android wear as a trigger.
Click the link a the top for the full howto plus a nice video of my watch starting my Christmas tree light show.
Happy Holidays!
Yesterday i received my moto 360 and i was very excited about it's possibilities. I
I bought this remote control app a few hours ago: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.RemotePaid&hl=de
Only the full version of the app has android wear support, but it's worth it
Within the app you can create statusbar shortcuts which looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There are various actions you can assign for these shortcuts but the most useful i think is the Remote File Manager option. This allows you to start a batch located at your computer.
Personally i have created 4 shortcuts for changing the sound output and the mouse speed of my pc with one touch on my moto 360.
On my moto it looks like this: (only the symbol for the shortcut is correct, not the colour)
You can also control your mouse with your wear. But it's not working 100% smoothly for me.

[APP] The most accurate fitness tracking app for Android Wear!

We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!
Apply for the Beta!
We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!
Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone
We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!

This looks really cool! I've been tracking my workouts using Google Sheets for a while now, but if this works, I could totally see it replacing that. I'll let you know more of my thoughts after I sign up for the beta and try it out a bit, but I was just wondering if there is a way to see your progress by exercise type in some place on the app. I've always roughly guessed how I've improved over time at, say, bench press, and I know that I can do it now if I really wanted to, but it'd be really cool to have it readily available on the app.
Looks interesting, may take it for a spin!
Where is the link for download? Also:
1. Will you be having only dark color for the app?
2. Does it support Android Wear independently without the need of the phone?
2.1. Does it support the internal GPS of Sony Smartwatch, for instance?

Current it is a closed beta, so once you apply we will send an email with a link.
1. We are switching to a lighter color UI on the phone. Sticking to a dark color on watch to conserve battery life.
2. Yes, it works on the watch independently of the phone.
3. At this point it doesn't support GPS. Right now we are primarily focused on weight training and calisthenics. But when we do hit cardio, we'll make sure to use GPS on the watch.
I'm interested in trying this out. How's progress on the app?
Link not working
I would love to participate but the link is not working
I would like to apply for the beta but the link is not working.
I mostly go sporting/gym 3 times a week.
Can i get a beta because i was searching for this kinda app ?
Thanks !

[Noob] How to build a watch face displaying surfing conditions?

Hi XDA,
New member with low-level coding ability looking for some advice.
I've just bought the Stratos and amazed with its features, and also the quite poor app market for it. I'm a big windsurfer/surfer and looking to customise the watch for these activities.
Questions 1:
Is there any ETA on adding a new sport to the watch? SUP/Windsurfing/Surfing? Its basically just the Ski setting without vertical.
Question 2:
I've read up on how to create a custom watch face. How do I have this watch face display data from a website/API? I'd like to display data from magic seaweed/windguru on the watch face ideally to create something similar to the Surfline app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
How is this possible? Or is it possible to install Android Wear apps onto the Stratos (meaning I could use the Surfline face)?
Thanks!
To start with, you have to get these data somehow. I suppose there are sites displaying those characteristics based on the location? If this is true you could make a widget displaying these features pulling the data from your phone's internet connection.
Take a look at Quinny's Train schedule widget...

Did you ever get anywhere with this? It is so much harder than I thought to find a tide app for an Android or Tizen watch!!

Complications
Hide complications in ambient mode
Hide ticks in interactive and ambient mode
Black background
Like the look of this watch face but I like a digital clock with date in ambient mode. Would you consider adding and option like that?

As the name suggests, I was not planning to add digital clock . I wanted to make this watch face as simple and lightweight as possible.
If I have time I will create another digital watch face.
But I will for sure add option to hide specific complications in ambient mode. Because I also want to have a date in ambient mode .

I hear ya, I personally just like digital for ambient and analog for the normal but there isn't many watch faces that I've found with that option
I like nice clean watch faces, black background.....
I really like that watch face is open source. :good:
H1 Vlad, I applaud you for your awesome watchface. Personally I am having massive problems implementing complications in my android watch.
You dont possibly have a guide or tutorial to help a lost soul out?

Sorry for a late replay. This watch face was created for this Pluralsight course.
It's behind the paywall, but you can get 10 days for free, and watch just this course. It explains step by step how to create a watch face.
Also, check codebase on GitHub, and feel free to open an issue there, if you have problems understanding some parts.
Thx man, love it
Just installed this but I cannot find it in my app drawer. It shows up in the installed apps setting , but no icon in the app drawer
