[Hack?] Control your PC from your watch - Wear OS Software and Hacking General

Here is the link to the full howto: http://wolfebaine.blogspot.com/2014/12/control-computer-from-android-wear.html
So I'm now the proud owner of an LG G Watch. After reading all the flame wars on whether Android Wear was the greatest thing since sliced bread or the worst thing since un-sliced bread I decided to be conservative and opted for a first gen watch before dropping too much cash on the "newest-greatest". I'm not going to add to the already gigantic pile of Wear reviews, suffice to say I'm satisfied with it for what it is and what I paid for it.
But that's not the point of this post. 90% of the reason I bought the watch wasn't for what it did, but rather what can I make it do??? So I got it, rooted it, and started sideloading apps (xda). What I ended up with was an android smartwatch that could also:
Play a movie (QQPlayer + ES File Explorer + Bluetooth Headset)
Run an NES Emulator (NES-FC Lite + Bluetooth controller)
Open my garage door (V1_Bluetooth_Arduino app + my bluetooth/arduino garage door setup)
None of these were really way out there as far as plausibility so I continued my hunt to push the limits of what this thing can do.
The one place I feel Android Wear falls short is the 'control' aspect of things. It is a fantastic little devices for providing you with information, but at the end of the day I should be able to tap the thing on my wrist to control my every day life.......
The closest thing I could find right now is the IFTTT integration. Bravo in general to this website and moreso for making it compatible with wear. They get it. Tap a button to cause an action somewhere in the real or digital world.
So after playing around with existing recipes (https://ifttt.com/android_wear) I remembered a post I saw a while ago about controlling your computer with IFTTT and Dropbox vis SMS.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-issue-a-command-to-your-computer-with-a-text-message/
The premise is exactly the same except instead of using SMS as the trigger, you'll use android wear as a trigger.

Happy Holidays!

Yesterday i received my moto 360 and i was very excited about it's possibilities. I
I bought this remote control app a few hours ago: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.RemotePaid&hl=de
Only the full version of the app has android wear support, but it's worth it
Within the app you can create statusbar shortcuts which looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There are various actions you can assign for these shortcuts but the most useful i think is the Remote File Manager option. This allows you to start a batch located at your computer.
Personally i have created 4 shortcuts for changing the sound output and the mouse speed of my pc with one touch on my moto 360.
On my moto it looks like this: (only the symbol for the shortcut is correct, not the colour)
You can also control your mouse with your wear. But it's not working 100% smoothly for me.

[REQ] Music Player with Search (text) function

I was playing with Groovefish last week (while it was still working) and realized that I really enjoyed searching for music by text (artist name, title, etc) instead of trying to sift through my lists of mp3s stored on the device.
It got me thinking- why aren't there any good music players out there that with a text search option?
I'm picturing it working on some sort of index, similar to the way you can type a contact name or subject/sender in messaging, and it will narrow down the list of options as you type in real-time.
For devices with keyboards, this would be an invaluable tool. Does something like this exist and I've just missed it? If not, how hard would it be to implement?
yes there is actually
I wrote such a program a (very long) while ago. A small part of it's interface is in hebrew but basically it is icon based. Also, it is written for QVGA devices and i don't know how it will run on WM 6.5 and later.
It is meant to be finger friendly and easy to operate while driving, that's why i chose to implement this kind of input method.
I stopped development in the middle of making a new, WVGA compatible version with a whole new interface based on ALPINE's car audio system and haven't continued since.

The search box is next to the magnifying glass icon and it updates the list in real-time.
You can download it here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BVYP6LY1
If you have any questions, hit the "i" button - my e-mail address is written there.
There's an awesome one called Windows Media Player. It comes with your device. You start typing and it filters
yeah- try using those tiny icons on a wvga display while driving, blue.
WMP is pretty terrible to use without a stylus, although it will sort through a list of titles as you type, now that you point it out. The problem, aside for the lack of finger friendliness, is that the search is only in the category u select.
In other words, I have to first click artist if I'm searching for an artist, or album if I want the album name. What I love about searching with groovefish is that I can type any part of the name, artist, album, etc, and it will find it on a whim. Being able to do that locally in real time would be extremely useful, especially with some nice big icons to click.
Gorel, my hebrew is a bit weak, but I can fake my way through it. Too bad you stopped development... theres really nothing else out there like this?
I'm sorry, not that i know of.
I may get back to deveploment now that i have my hd2 but it is very time consuming and it is very low on my priority list (i am not a pro)...
I think it is best if one of the developers here would incorporate this feature into his own software - it basically a simple sql query and shouldn't be too hard for a pro to implement.
edit: I just thought of something, assuming you have an hd2, you could use the zoom feature to make the program appear full screen!
Let me see... where did I put that hd2...

[Request] HTC Sense 5 Car app as apk

This is an app request. It seems like something on of you whiz bang developers could whip out easily. I've upgraded from the EVO to a G2 as my daily use device (I still have my EVO as a backup.) The G2 has a little more horsepower and some nice features, but I find that I miss having HTC Car, and it worked so well with my Sprint Navigation card dock.* There is no Car app on the G2 - there isn't even an implementation of the Google Car Mode app - at least not on the LS980.
As I understand it, the HTC Car app has some sense dependencies, so you cannot just extract the apk. (I tried that.) I leave the technical details up to the dev, whether you port the existing app or whip up a doppleganger. For the most part this app seems dead simple, but I found it far safer to run while I commute.
Here's my last plea before the specs and reference photos: Car Apps out there suck, and there is a huge void in the market for a simple, effective app that
Feature Requests:
1) Install as an APK, no Sense proprietary dependencies.
2) Works on most Android devices, scale the UI to fit most displays.
3) Auto-start app when connected to bluetooth device.
4) Auto-quit app when disconnected from bluetooth device.
5) Phone mode (optional, at least a dialer shortcut)
6) Allow User to add large-tile shortcuts to a limited number of apps.
7) Landscape interface
8) Vertical interface (optional)
9) Navigation
MINIMUM : Launch to Google Navigator
OPTIONAL : Replicate the simple Car Navigation UI** [These are really optional, I hardly ever used this stuff, but some might find them useful]
OPTIONAL : Replicate the Google Calendar Appointments feature that chooses destinations based on your calendar items.
OPTIONAL : Replicate Previous destination list.
**The Car Navigation UI appears to be simply a series of shortcuts to Google Maps searches: Gas Station, Food, Parking, Cafes, Bars, ATM, Pharmacy, Shopping, Emergency.
I'll post some reference photos.

*BTW: If you open the Sprint Navigation Car Dock, it is rudimentary to remove the charging chip. If you take that out, the dock works fantastically for the LG G2. I use it with a Diztronic TPU case and it still fits great. A wee bit tight, but it fits.
Last call, casual readers, if you think replicating this app would be a good idea, please at least leave a reply and say so. I doubt a dev would take on a task like this if there is little community interest. If you have moved on to another phone as your primary device, or if you still run the EVO on a Non-Sense ROM, you could benefit from this too. The simplest implementation of this app should work on any android device.
Post #2 is reserved for community suggestions for feature adds or improvements. If you post something past page 1 then I will link it on the front page.

[Q] Why dose all the watchfaces have a digital always face on?

I just wanna understand if a dev is here so he can explane Why dose Propebly All the downloadable watch faces dose have the simple little digital always on face?
I have actually yet not downloaded or bought One single damn watch face wich has a watch other than the digital face!!! Even if i buy a Analog w face.
I use the Always on watch function, and love the look of the Analog watch types wich comes with the watch faces oem in the GS.
The standard digital face is too cheep looking and ugly in my opinion!!! :S
Is the any way to fix this? I even used watches from the Watch styles, and its the same :S
Another thing wich is irretating is that in GS store non of the devolopers dose show what the watch looks like in the "always on" mode.

This is the digital always face
And the analog always face on wich comes with the first oem watch face.
Another oem
Because it seem there are no API (in Tizen SDK) to made a watchface with a low power (or always on) mode
Developper can not build a watchface like the Samsung original
I would very much like to get feedback from Sammy or a dev! Its just to lame that they wouldn't put it in the sdk ?
Because Samsung is run by a bunch of retards who don't understand or care about their customers. This is such a massive and huge limitation. I'd kill for a Mickey Mouse always on watch face.
Although, knowing Samsung, they will get it right eventually after copying things from the first few iterations of the apple watch. Such a shame really, since the Gear S is so much more advanced.
Always On Support Added
Sorry to reserect an old tread but I seen this on another Always On thread on here

[Known issue]
* Mac OS Command + Q hotkey makes program exit without asking to save current job.
* The following features are not yet supported on Gear S :
1) Launch after install
2) Always on mode
3) Steps % source
4) Change language of Digitalclock component
5) Timezone, Calendar property
6) Connection over Bluetooth.

Does anyone know if anyone has updated any existing clocks to use the analogue always on feature or how to go about it?

Be ready for the mind blowing and thrilling game! Please meet the cult "Tyrian" game (one of the best "vertical scrollers" ever!) on the Windows Phone platform!
The game is set in the year 20,031. You play the role of a skilled terraforming pilot named Trent Hawkins, who is employed to scout out habitable locations on newly terraformed planets. His latest assignment is the planet Tyrian, which is located near the territory of the Hazudra, who are a lizard-like race.
One day, Buce Quesillac, a Hazudra and Trent's best friend, is shot in the back by a hoverdrone which quickly disappears into the sky. Buce lives just long enough to tell Trent that the attack was the work of MicroSol, the giant corporation who controls the terraformation of Tyrian. They want Buce dead because of his knowledge of Gravitium, which is a special mineral, unique to Tyrian, able to control the force of gravity.
Microsol want to use Gravitium to power their warships, which could result in them becoming nearly unstoppable. They will stop at nothing to eliminate anyone who knows of its existence. Trent is the next person on their hit list, and Buce implores him to try to reach Savara, a free world. With that, Buce dies. Trent manages to secure a small fighter, and departs for Savara.
Original scrolling shooter computer game was developed by World Tree Games Productions and published in 1995 by Epic MegaGames. This Windows Phone port is based on the OpenTyrian implementation.
Game is free but has some IAPs to make your life in the Tyrian world a little easier
You may control your spaceship with finger or accelerometer. I've also added an "Autofire" button to simplify battle controls (but don't forget to turn off autofire sometimes - it uses your ship energy!)

Enjoy and don't forget to rate this game by 5 stars!
wow... this game remind me how i am old hehehe
@dxdy, don't ask me about the age
Good stuff man
Just one thing, is it possible that you can implement touch control where the spaceship follows the finger you have pressed on touch press like the iphone port does.
It mostly unplayable for me with the controls that's currently implemented in your OpenTyrian app.
@KyouKeiKen, I'm really sorry buddy, but personally I hate that kind of control what you've described It's pretty unnatural and unrealistic - spaceship can't do a "micro hyper-jumps" like this (I mean "follow the finger" control - i.e. you want ship to move exactly where you touched screen). I just trying to follow the good old traditions...
P.S. You may try to use accelerometer control mode; at least my beta-tester completed first mission with both types of controls (it's about "usability")...
@sensboston, Fair enough since the original game didn't have that feature. The accelerometer controls isn't my cup of tea athough. I believe most people like me would be happy with virtual on-screen analog stick controls or arrow keyboard controls like your Dosbox app

[APP] The most accurate fitness tracking app for Android Wear!

We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!
Apply for the Beta!
We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!
Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone
We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!

This looks really cool! I've been tracking my workouts using Google Sheets for a while now, but if this works, I could totally see it replacing that. I'll let you know more of my thoughts after I sign up for the beta and try it out a bit, but I was just wondering if there is a way to see your progress by exercise type in some place on the app. I've always roughly guessed how I've improved over time at, say, bench press, and I know that I can do it now if I really wanted to, but it'd be really cool to have it readily available on the app.
Looks interesting, may take it for a spin!
Where is the link for download? Also:
1. Will you be having only dark color for the app?
2. Does it support Android Wear independently without the need of the phone?
2.1. Does it support the internal GPS of Sony Smartwatch, for instance?

Current it is a closed beta, so once you apply we will send an email with a link.
1. We are switching to a lighter color UI on the phone. Sticking to a dark color on watch to conserve battery life.
2. Yes, it works on the watch independently of the phone.
3. At this point it doesn't support GPS. Right now we are primarily focused on weight training and calisthenics. But when we do hit cardio, we'll make sure to use GPS on the watch.
I'm interested in trying this out. How's progress on the app?
Link not working
I would love to participate but the link is not working
I would like to apply for the beta but the link is not working.
I mostly go sporting/gym 3 times a week.
Can i get a beta because i was searching for this kinda app ?
Thanks !
