I've tried to port this app by pulling it from LG V20 dump to system/private-app, but no luck, it's not recognized. Anyone has already done it and if so how? Currently, in order to record stereo audio in V10 is to record video and then convert video to MP3 only, that's the workaround I use.

hi, upload the app and let me give it a try too
I already deleted it, but somewhere in the forums you can find the V20 system dump

Was wondering if there was a youtube alternaive, i think i saw one somewhere but i can't find it.
To be able to download video or convert to mp3 or at least be able to lock the phone whilst the video still plays?
Cheers
me too wants to know there is one for the iOS caled Protube on cydia but not able to find one for android!
Download "TubeMate", it's free and you can download videos directly from YouTube (via the app) or convert the videos to .mp3 and store them on your Note II
It used to be on the Play Store, but it got removed so you'll have to download it from here: http://tubemate.net/

can i lock the phone and the the song keep playing? or will it turn the music off?
Well, if you download them as mp3s, you will be able to play them in most music players for Android, including stock iirc...the only thing that might change is folder management but most players just show you all mp3, regardless on which folder they are in (which is still awesome to me)... try something like poweramp or doubletwist...

I am a user of Google Music All Access service (i wont explain how i got it to work outside the US) and the app automatically downloads songs i add to my libarary for offline usage.
The songs are in data/data/com.google.android.music
However despite the full size and valid extension they cannot be played in any other app then Google Play (not even when i transfer them to the PC)
ARE they encrypted? If so how to fix this?

They are most probably encrypted to stop piracy.

There is no way to decrypt them at this time, but you can always plug in your phone to your PC with a 3,5 audio cable from headphone jack on phone to microphone jack on PC. Then record each song with like sound recorder or Audacity.
Bump on this - It has been almost a year, and the service is now rolling out in Canada and other. Somebody must have looked into this?

Obviously not. Because this enables piracy, and we all know XDA doesn't condone that.
I can't test it at the minute but I'm fairly certain that if you log into Google Play Music on a PC, there is an option to download the individual tracks as MP3's. I think it allows you to do it 2 or 3 times per track.
Why not just do that instead of worrying about decrypting music on your phone?

Open chrome > new tab Incognito > enable desktopmode > visit the play music site> login to your google account> locate the purchased song and download( you can only download 2 times through the web).
Cheers
This might be a stupid question but when I bought the phone yesterday I remembered seeing some pre loaded videos that looked pretty cool at showing off this wonderful screen but now I can't freakin find em.
Anyone know the location of the video I'm talking about?

Mine also got deleted. This phone comes packed so much extra crap you lose a lot of usable internal storage so I just wipe the whole thing. I was pleasantly surprised that I had 22 gigs of storage

Agreed, and would love to have one of the original videos that came with the phone. It showed off a bunch of landscapes but looked fantastic to really show off the display. When I first factory reset my phone (before rooting or anything) it wiped the files. I went to show the girlfriend and it's no longer there.
Presumably playing one of the Discovery Planet Earth videos in 1080p on Google Play would be able to show it off just as well. But I used it to play around with the built in video player that you could re-size etc.
I tried to share it elsewhere and it wouldn't let me, saying that it was a protected file. Even tried looking for it with a File Explorer and came up empty.
I must admit, those videos make the screen look GORGEOUS! Full HD 5.2 inch screen on minimum bezel...

they are protected files yes, locked to the individual devices. so once gone, they are gone forever.
speaking of those videos, did anybody find any demo videos that look as stunning as those on our screens?
I've deleted them when I got my phone, because I wanted more free space, but the other day I soft bricked my G2, so I had to restore everything and I got them videos back. I can upload them if you guys want.
again, they are protected and locked to individual devices, you can't play them anywhere else but your own phone.

Ohh, I see now. You can't even take screenshots during the video. Silly DRM. Then I uploaded 2 other ones, they are regular .mp4 videos, so you can play them on your phone or anything.
Video 1 - It's actually an extended version of the stock Europe video, there's no music though.
Video 2 - This one also looks really gorgeous.
In you tube search lg 4k demo, you found several demo videos from lg, download with tube mate in original video o 4k resolution and you get a lot of videos in excellent quality.

I think you're right.
it doesnt hurt to try so for those who want to try, here are the videos coming from my G2.
download them and rename the extension with .dm instead of .mp4 and see if they play.

I just got my phone 2 days ago, loving it so far. Only issue i am having is so far with the 2 videos i have recorded in 4k the sound in not sync.. I made a few videos of me just knocking my hand on a table, and its very obvious its not in sync... i tried playing the video on my phone using the stock video player, tried MX player, uploaded it to youtube.. same results.. is this a fault in my phone? Or is it because the videos are too high quality and the phone itself or a regualr computer wont play it?
Here is a video i recorded

EDIT: I did some reading and found out that the latest update 17.1.1.A.0.40 fixes these issue.. i just checked for an update and it says i am up to date although i do not have that firmware
do i have to wait for my carrier to roll out the update? I have tmobile

Tmobile are terrible with updates if you ask me, and to answer your question you do have to wait howeveer there is an alternate way
You can flash a FTF and using flashtool
