Hello everyone, i creating this thread because i found a problem in my devices, this happen because i enabled Anti-Theft protection at my AOSP ROM, and remember exactly what is my PIN, and after i enabled it, and when i changed my SIM card, i got asked for Privacy Protection Password, normally what i must do just enter the PIN that i set while i am enabling Anti-Theft right? but when i instert my PIN there, the phone keep said that my PIN is wrong, but thats impossible that i miss typing it or forgot it because i just enabled it right before i changed my SIM, and because of that while i am using all of AOSP ROM at my phone, the phone keep asking me for Privacy Protection Password, i've do many way to solve this, like flashing my phone with original stock rom in fastboot of course i fortmat all my data, and already using spflashtool too, with format all + download / firmware upgrade, but the result still same, i am stacked here, i hope anyone who read this could help me
Thanks! and sorry if my english are bad
i have this problem too, just format data (not wipe data) from twrp, install aosp, done.

Hi,
I got my SGS2 from O2 yesterday, went to check recovery mode is working ok and it is asking for a password. Has anyone else on O2 had this? For the short time I had my SGS on Gingerbread I got asked for the same when trying recovery mode.
Just tried on my unlocked T-Mobile phone from CPW and it goes in fine.
Blue text, Android system recover (3e), and options to reboot, apply update.zip, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Also this was done on a rooted phone although im pretty sure i also tried it before rooting and it still worked then.
Password is your screen unlock password.
It turns out it is because I had the screen lock set to a PIN.
Yep, If you have either a screen lock PIN or password set the recovery rom prompts you for them (although if you set a pin it still refers to it as a password in the recovery rom which can be confusing).
However if you set a pattern lock then no prompt is given.
nice to know
Thanks for the info
I was sure my recovery got locked by the store I got it from ... (If its possible)
After replacing my Email.apk without any security and canceling the PIN all is well.

I have the same problem here, but I had no unlock code and still it asks me to "confirm password"....
Yesterday I picked the phone from my pocket, and on the display it said that the unlock code had been entered incorrectly. As I always do I entered the code, but this time it said that I would have to wait 30 seconds for my next attempt as I had entered the wrong code five times. I did, but still it won't accept the code. I know it is the right one because I use the same code as my SIM PIN, which works perfectly fine. Also, my SO knows the code, and when asked to unlock the phone she correctly responded with "it doesn't seem to work?"
I'm using Lite'ning ROM, and on other foras I've read that it is possible to have the device reset through the same screen where the code is entered. On my screen the only option is to type the code, and a button for emergency calls. No "recover password" button. Still, by accident I found out that I could access the phone by pressing the home button twice, which would take me to the voice dialing menu, and it would then be possible to use it as normal until the screen is locked again.
Today, I did a CWM factory/data/cache reset, and reflashed an old backup. Still, it asked for the pin, and said that I had entered the incorrect one. I searched, and found out that to get rid of this I would have to flash a stock ROM. I did, and ended up in the notoric boot loop. The fix for this is apparently to wipe user data from stock recovery, but this requires the password mentioned earlier. Which means I'm stuck.
I tried reflashing the backup I had of the Lite'ning ROM, and wipe data/factory reset from there, but it still does not work with the stock rom.
So:
Any ideas? Is my only option to go to a service center and have it fixed? Will it be a problem that I've unlocked and reflashed it?
Are there other ways to do the data/factory reset? (Through Odin?)
Thanks a ton for any help!
TL;DR: Unlock code entered incorrectly in pocket, phone locked, unable to access wipe functionality and therefore not able to reflash stock rom -> ****ed.
If it's the same issue experienced by someone else on these forums, the solution given here was to keep typing wrong passwords.

It seems to be related, but I now did 50 attempts (where one has to wait 30 sec between every 5 failed passwords), and nothing happens. Will try to repost in the thread you mentioned, and see if they can provide a better explanation.
Anyone else have any clue?
Got it to work!
Basically, the post oinkylicious linked to had the solution. The password/PIN they are referring to is the one that we are prompted to enter when trying to do a data/factory reset from stock recovery. After a number of tries it will say that if you type the password wrong once more it might delete contents on your SD card. What I did was remove the SD card, and continue to enter wrong passwords. After a while it will the show some text (can't remember what), and let you go through with the data/factory reset.
HI all,
My company phone is encrypted. I loaded NeatROM 4.5 after having been on NR 4.3 for ages and all was good, although some apps would not work. This morning, the phone locked up so I rebooted it but it would not boot successfully. So I decided to do a full data wipe but then, when the phone was rebooting, it asked me for my encryption passcode but it would not accept it. I am now locked out of the phone - it just will not take my code.
How could I go about wiping it completely or factory resetting it / the encryption code ? My code has obviously become corrupted or something.
Regards

try a generic sami rom
Hi! I have an (annoying) situation here, i recently bought a phone (bottom), the phone has been wiped of all apps, however, the last person (the seller) didn't do a FULL factory reset, so his Google account is still the primary.
I know you can remove the primary account via factory reset, but there seems to some sort of PIN/password, you dont need a pin/password to unlock the phone (from sleep), the screen asking for a pin also popes up when i tried to apply a lockscreen password
Ive emailed the seller already, but he takes a long time to respond, and i hate to wait.
i know theres specialized hardware like Riff-Box, but this phones waterproof and i dont want to break any seals
Ive also tried to do a root, but kentai/japanese phones have tight security with a small amount of hackers (link to root bellow)
Anyway, my question is that is there anyway to get that pin out of the phone/disable/remove it WITHOUT rooting or cracking the case open
eg software hacks
ive already tried the ADB methods, which require a root, and i have a copy of SDK with proper ADB drivers if anyone has any complex suggestions
Phone
-Sharp SH-06D [normal, NOT the NERV edition]
-internationally unlocked by DoCoMo
-running an unrooted 2.3.5 and (obviously) stock ROM

Hi folks,
After changing the broken screen of my Umi Z phone, I have a privacy protection code to enter at system launch. It looks like it's a security option in android. I don't remember having set that but well, it's on. The right way to unlock is to send a sms to my phone from some other trusted phone with the code #mima# but as I didn't enter any trusted phone, I can't do it !
So I've tried a factory reset as it usually works. It didn't.
Then I've reinstall the official rom, wiping all before. Still got the protection code to enter.
I can access it with adb, with flash tool and installed twrp and supersu. That let me get access to the system data and I could save all my pictures and other stuff.
But I can't use my phone and don't see any other way to override that protection code.
Any other idea ?
Thanks for all
