accidently dropped my phone today and got cracks on screen(screen broke along with tempered glass).i checked every other hardware and every corner of display and it is working well.
it seems only the top glass(protection one)has broken.what is the cost of replacement of the glass only?or will i get a complete replacement of my display?
i am from india.
Well as you know outer glass and display are fused together so its so hard to separate these two. If you find only glass side then its good, go to expert in displays amd he will fix it. If not!, you may end up getting new set of display from service center. Last time I asked in mi service center about cost they said it will Roughly costs only 3000Rs.
Now the waring part!
If you use custom roms on this rn3, you may come up with some issues with new display. Because xiaomi used many different parts in rn3 like fingerprint sensor goodix and fpc. This same case is with display, as far know xiaomi used 5 different display models in rn3. Some kernel features like double tap to wake works with only old models of rn3. Soooo...... I think you understand my point what I am trying to say

Hello people!
I just dropped my phone display first into the floor.
The only visible damage is a tiny arced crack at the right edge of the screen, but that was enough to screw up the whole touch screen because the phone seems to activate touch around the crack, which leads me to my first question:
1 - Is there a way to disable part of the touch screen?
I can live without touch in the area of the damage, just not without any working touch
2 - Is there a way to hardware test using a PC to evaluate the extent of the damage?
3 - Do I buy just the screen, the screen + LCD or screen + LCD + frame?
4 - How do I know which OEM of Ebay to buy? Can I trust the ones saying it's an original Sony Screen + LCD?
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. I do believe there are more people out there with same or very similar questions.

Thank you so much for giving me the answer I wanted to hear. Unfortunately I can't find any videos on how to do this for the Z2. Have you done it? I'm curious to know whether the display is allover glued to the digitizer as in the case of the Z1 or if it's just glued around the corners of the screen as in the M2. Mind you that this is simply observations I've made from watching youtube videos, so the above mentioned information might not be correct.
man, u cannot separate the display and digitizer . its a single glass. for Z2. u need to replace the single glass
You could try finding parts from aliexpress, try looking through the feedbacks before ordering.
Or if you are not too bothered by the cracks you could just put on a screen protector or a tempered glass screen protector.
Try going into youtube and search witrigs for teardown and repair videos.
Wish you good luck! ?

or you can buy from here
Hi guys,
My Screen cracked, i order a new screen. I install it right with instructions. LCD screen works about 1 minutes, but now the phone has so called ghost touches.
What might be a problem? LDC-screen is broken?

Yeah!
I did take a chance and purchased a new glass without display. Good news is I never got an opportunity to use it, so I might be able to return it. Bad new is I'm now buying a front glass and lcd.
Even though it might technically be possible to just exchanging the front screen, I would say it's highly improbable that you will successfully do so.
Judged by my level of technical tinkering, I would say that a vast majority of the people in this forum will probably fail in exchanging front glass without exchanging lcd.
I'm not saying this to put anyone down, but I'm giving you the advice I wish I would've gotten before getting over-confident.
So for goodness sake,
BUY FRONT GLASS+DIGITIZER+LCD, and save yourself both time, headache, and possibly money
Hi, i'm waiting for my Z2 replacement screen and i have a question for those who have changed it, does the sensitivity of the touch screen is the same like the original? I mean the option that you can use the phone with gloves...
Thanks!
How much did it cost u, repairing the screen
Hello,
I have dropped my Xiaomi yesterday and now the display is broken. I already order a new one from HK. Is there any tutorial how to fix it.
I only found vids for the normal Redmi 3 and they also use LCD Panels with the frame. I found only displays without a frame for my model.
Any ideas? Also i live in germany and cannot bring it to my chinese repair shop.
use hot air to melt the glue and pull it gently. just put touch panel and display connector into proper place. reglue the screen and gather all piece back. Done
So in case Mi9 users didn't see this, Samsung is having similar issues with their S10. When I saw the news about Samsung, I tried and tested this on my Mi9 and low and behold it unlocks with any of my fingers if I put the included silicone cover on top of the screen. Of course it doesn't work when the cover is not over the screen.
Any Mi9 users care to do the test? I bet all the Mi9 phones come with that thin silicone cover included in the box.
P.S. Also worth mentioning I have a screen protector on as well. I heard some screen protectors can cause this issue as well (seems it isn't the case with mine).
Hi, bro
I don't have this problem.
I use a glass Screen protector.
Miui 11.1 by xiaomi.eu 9.10.17
I think you misunderstood what I meant to say. I'm not talking about the screen protector.
Put a thin silicone case over the phone's screen and put any finger that is not registered over the sensor area. The phone will unlock.
Read here if I wasn't clear enough. Same issue applies to Mi9.
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_is...t_vulnerability_on_s10__note10-news-39708.php
I get it.
I tried that and it didn't unlock
Doesn't work with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid flipped to the front.
MI 9 / xiaomi.eu 9.10.17
Does not work at all. Perhaps this is only a Samsung problem?

Doesn't work on mine device too , with either registrated fingerprint or not , it's doesn't unlock at all with any finger when my stock cover that comes with the device.
Samsung ultrasonic?
Xiaomi optical?
Got notification from my bank app that fingerprint login for s10/note 10 is disabled, for mi 9 no restrictions.
You got me curious so I put the case on the phone the other way around so it covers the screen but the fp sensor doesn't work at all for me, correct fingers or not. Tried quite a few times like this and also with the back of the case on the screen, it always fails or in the case of putting the back of the case on the screen, it says the finger was moved too fas even though there's no movement at all. Quite odd if it unlocks like that for you, thought only ultrasonic sensors have that issue, I also don't think the screen protector causes it but I don't have any so can't say for sure.
My screen was replaced in like day two after buying the phone because it turned all green. Mi store here in Romania refused to give me a new phone. Could this be the cause of why this happens for me?

Do you have face unlock enabled?
Because when your Phone is unlocked via face unlock you can put any fingers on the fingerprint sensor and your phone will change to the Homescreen

In my case this is not true!
I have face unlock enabled and fingerprint sensor is working as it should!
I can unlock only with dedicated and memorized fingerprints regardless activated face unlock function!
Also, as I can see, title of this thread is little unfair to Mi9 because author in latest posts say that his phone screen is replaced!
After such big replacement I believe that factor reset procedure should be done because every peripheral have is unique ID and if this ID is not correctly recognized and maybe ID value from old sensor is used then all this "blind" recognition doesn't surprises me.

Hello! I have the same problem, I discovered it a few days ago. It is unlocked with any finger.
Doesn't affect my phone. With the silicone case from the back over the front, only the correct finger(s) will unlock the phone.
It works fine on my mi9. In addition, Samsung has a different type of reader, as its predecessors have already mentioned.
The samsung problem is simple, it has the tolerance set too high, this is because SS want to have a better "usability" of the reader.
Buuuuuut, it backfired.
They have to think a little and know that people will uncover this trick to have a "better reader".
This can happen in any sort of reader, it's only a matter of parameters in software.
Hello guys, I'm so pissed off my gf in front of me unlocked my mi9 with any finger ! I'm not surprised that she did it, but everyone can do it, even thief ... It's crazy but I did fingerprints registered reset and now it looks like it works ... But ... I think I have lost my faith in mi9
I tried with 3 different silicon cover on a Mi9.
It does not work.
mi 9 is optical, not ultrasonic
My Z2 fell down from a 1 storey height last day . The phone is still usable but the screen is cracked on the top right corner. The touch is not working on that side. I can't swipe down the quick settings from there. There's a little touch issue at the bottom right side also I think. And the back glass is almost completely broken. I had applied a carbon fiber sticker on the back earlier so the glass is still there fixed.
Also the fingerprint scanner is not working. There's a scratch there too. But the press function of that button is working. The shape of the outer frame of the phone is changed a little bit.
I just reset everything again and flashed AOSiP-9. Except the fingerprint and top and bottom right touch everything is working I think. I'm posting this thread from my phone so it is still usable.
I want to know how much will it cost for the front screen, back glass and a new fingerprint sensor? I went to the nearby Lenovo service center but none of these parts are available there.
Just found that the it'll cost between 2500-3000 for all these parts. The screen is also broken a little bit. So both the touch and screen should be replaced.

I bought a pre-owned OnePlus 7T yesterday after long-time research. It has almost everything I like. The only issue is that the lack of custom ROM development support but I'm waiting.
Meanwhile the back camera of my Z2 too also stopped working. I replaced the fingerprint scanner and the touchscreen myself with another dead Z2's parts. All the area is now touchable but sometimes it freezes too much. Now I can use the Z2 almost okay, so I'm still using it as my daily device with AOSiP-9. I decided to use as long it can run without any serious issues.

I paid ₹ 30k. It has extra accidental and screen protection worth around ₹2000. The first owner bought it in October. If you are buying a pre-owned you should not spend more than 31k even it has extra protection as it is available in Amazon for around 35k, and with credit or debit card you can almost save around 1.5k to 2k. But please check Amazon for the card offers.
I chose 7T over 7 Pro and K20 Pro because of some personal reasons. But I recommend if you are upgrading from Z2 and you can afford, please buy this as it has almost all a flagship needed and doesn't have any extra gimmicks like motorized pop-up camera. Because only a few phones have this motorized type of cameras and the current trend is having a punched hole camera. The notch is a way ahead of this punched holes because you don't feel that much distracted with notches. I tried latest Samsung phones and I felt too irritated with those ugly punched holes. A few upcoming mid-range phones are coming with these as per some news. Anyways these are just my personal reasons.
I'm quoting my own text that I replied to someone.
"Yes bro, 7T has almost everything which I wanted and lacks only a very few things. Like it has a
+ non-popup camera so faster face unlocking
+ 90Hz of course
+ stereo speakers
+ 3 cameras with a wider one and now with a super-macro mode
+ OIS
+ less weight compared to 7 Pro
+ 855+
and pretty much everything a flagship needs. The only thing I miss is the QHD display. I have a VR/AR device so I wanted to use it for watching movies like in a theatre. The QHD display has less pixelated view compared to fHD for this use. But compared to other specs it is not a deal."
A few days ago, my phone began showing weird bavior: The very top of the touch screen was not reacting to any input, so I couldn't open the menu. I found out I could circumvent this by using the touch area below the speaker to draw out the menu. But now I randomly have ghost touches and the phone is not usable any more. Maybe it will be back to normal later, since that has already happened before. But this is unpredictable. I also did a full reset of the phone via Android.
In the meantime I bought a replacement, but would like your opinion if I should spend 40-50€ on repair parts and try to replace the display. Do you think the phone will receive security updates for 1-2 years from now?
I am kind of mad at Honor for the poor build quality (my phone is just around 2.6 years old!) and lack of bootloader unlocking. Will definetely not buy a Huawai/Honor again, unless they change this.
So I actually did a replacement following this guide:
And it worked! But it was quite pricey: 40€ for screen with battery unit, another 20€ for a new back cover (the old one easily caught scratches while cleaning off the glue) and 15€ or so for tools and thermal compound (which they almost never use in videos, but i felt was necessary).
One disadvantage is also that you need to be very careful while placing the back cover on, because unless you use glue only (i used the strips only version), you cannot move it after placing. So the back cover was off by maybe a millimeter or so. Not great, not terrible.
Anyway, the new owner is happy and I hope he can enjoy it for two more years or so.
I bought myself a Redmi Note 10 Pro and now have LineageOS (unofficial) running on it. While I enjoy the much larger battery and screen of the Redmi, I would probably have kept using the Honor 10 for one or two more years if it wasn't for the defect and locked bootloader. I think it still has sufficient performance and camera.
