hi there, i found a method on the web about taking screenshots.it was saying only works for galaxy s with android 2.2 but i tried it and succeeded on my galaxy ace with villain rom.
as i said, no app or root is needed.
like i said i tried it with villain rom.and it worked as a charm.who have kpe or 2.2 please post if it works or not!
Method :
in the screen you want to take screenshot ( homescreens, menu's, or game screens, etc ) press and hold the back button in the riht corner.while holding it, press menu key once.and a notification will say the screenshot is taken.that is all.
your screenshots will be saved automatically in a folder screenshots.
the most awesome is no need for any app or root!
i cant post the proofs because i havent 8 posts yet
holding right button (touch) and clicking the middle button works for me on both ace and g3...
Screenshots from Ace (2.2.1 not rooted)
i wonder if it is a default android feature or not
if so, why everybody is trying difficult methods or apps?
hmmm.. may be for pic quality... who knows whats cooking in minds of gadget freaks.. ;p

Because not always does the method work, when the app you are taking screenshot of might return back to previous screen while pressing the Back button. Also other screenshot methods let you capture just by shaking the phone, so no key presses required and helps in better timing.

Try Home+Power for 2.3.4
works on stock 2.3.3, great... but one problem though, when we want to capture a certain screen and press the back button to capture, it goes back to the previous screen... I guess its only for capturing homescreens then
Back plus home key, works for me.

Does work on 2.3.4. but gotta be careful it doesn't jump to Homescreen!

Hey guys!
In CM7, when I hit the Ace's power button, it ends the call. I don't want this, I want the good old turn-off screen, like on stock roms. I searched everywhere and I didn't found any option to change this.
Can someone point me what can I do?
Thanks!
Setting/call setting and tick on always use proximity

I don't think the setting for the power button is in Accessibility on CM, try looking around the CM menu, I think that's where it is.

No, I don't have eyes.
There are a few different variations of CM, and the one I used to have (I think it's the one by vo-1) had that setting in the CM menu.
Even LeWa has it

cm7 power button ends call in galaxy ace
I switched over to cm7 on my galaxy ace a week ago. Its very frustrating that the power button ends the call, i always disabled the proximity sensor in stock firmware and kinda used to that.
everytime i try to turn the screen off in a call, it actually ends the call. There is no option in accessibility settings to prevent power button from ending the call (screenshots attached)
I also downloaded an app phone settings manager and that too has no effect.
please help!
Same as here. Using CM7 from vo-1. I think that I'll switch to the one provided by FAT. Can someone confirm if it has that option in Accessibility?
This is what I have. Apart being in portugese, of course.
you can download "Screen Off and Lock" from the Play Store.
this is what I did.
so when someone calls. press the home button to go to your home screen then click the shortcut you have or if not go to your app drawer and press it to turn off your screen.
I'm using go launcher so I set the application to be activated when I glide down my finger in my home screen.

Nah, too much trouble. I want it more simple, like it was on stock. And it has to be somewhere on the settings, maybe I'm just not finding it.

I've used Grif's CM7 and in that ROM, POWER BUTTON ENDS CALL option was in Accessibility only
I don't think that I'll need this anymore. Yesterday I was using the phone when I needed to hang-up the call, and it was right in front of me, so I didn't needed to power-on screen, unlock it and then hang-up. I just hit the power-button and done!
Also, I think that I can live with the screen-delay to power-off.

Can anyone tell me if theres an app to increase the intensity of vibration if we get a message on whatsapp? I have to keep my phone on vibration in class and always miss out on the messages as the vibration intensity is too low.
I figured how to change it for gmail and sms through an app but how can i change it for other apps like whatsapp?

As said, if it would be possible...the battery will drain a lot faster as the screen will always be active/the system will perform wakelocks all the time.
But it's a good idea

That's what was generally said about double tap to wake, yet the phones that have this implemented, don't have drastically increased battery consumption because of it.
On the other hand, Samsungs half second delay after pressing home button, to wake after deep sleep (formerly just a "feature" of exynos devices, now with snapdragons as well) , is extremely annoying.
Don't see how would the screen always be active? Rather, the fingerprint sensor would be.

I don't believe battery drain would be an issue, but how would you keep the phone in a state to be read?
With double tap to wake and swipe to wake surely the waiting for action state is already developed.
Other possibility could be pressing the home button and sweeping the fi gerprint scanner at the same time to unlock in one motion.

I know. I talk about press (so the screen turns on) AND sweeping the finger at the same time.. This is working for me. I have to do a longer sweepe though.. And i have used all 3 finger setting to the same finger, probably a bit different portion of the finger every time..
Try it.. It works for me. Always unlock with one sweeping and pressing at the same time..
The disadvantage, i can unlock only with one finger.
The problem for me is that i have the home button to wake switched off using wanam exposed module. The phone was active in pocket way too many times.

On Huawei's other phones with fingerprint scanners they feature gestures on the scanner, a lot like a touchpad on a laptop. You can swipe down for the notification tray and swipe it up, double tap to clear the tray, swipe up for the recent apps, and long press to go to the home screen.
Since none of this was mentioned to be included in M and I know that's custom Huawei software. I was still wondering if any devs out there might be wanting to work on an app to add these functions, or if something similar already exists. This really makes the scanner a lot more functional.
They also have a safe and app lock in their software 2 other great additions. I know I've seen an app lock for the Samsung phones, and not sure if it'll work on just any phone with a scanner. While these are great additions on the Huawei phones, their skin is not. I'd love to see stuff like this incorporated on stock version of Android. I know nothing about programming, but just hope some eager devs are out there and looking to enhance what the scanner can do and take better advantage of it.
I hope it does have this feature but I haven't heard anything about it either...
No, it doesn't have it.

What about turning the screen on? Do you have to press power button, and then put your finger on the fp reader, or you can directly put your finger on the reader and screen goes on and phone is unlocked?

Unlike the Xperia Z5, and Samsung phones (not 100% about Samsung phones), you do NOT need to turn on the device first. Simply putting your finger on the scanner is enough to wake it up and unlock it. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 does that very well and is very accurate. This bodes well for the 6P for obvious reasons.
Yep. On Huawei Mate S, we can slide down on the scanner and it brings down the notifications list. I would really love to have that kind of gestures implemented so hopefully some devs would implement it on roms. *fingerscrossed*

Samsung requires you to wake the device first. Basically you have to tap the home or power button then let it read your fingerprint. Kinda lame. I wish it were like the new nexi
Xposed will add this if someone makes it. I use gesture control but using the finger print scanner would be so much better

I've seen no mention of that being built into M, but on Huawei phones with their EMUI skin they have an app locker which does this. It's a really great feature for a phone with a scanner. It's great to lock down banking apps or whatever else you want to keep people out of.
I know someone has created an app like this for Samsung phones, however I'm not sure if it'll work with other phones using a scanner. Hopefully someone creates something like this soon if it doesn't.

I have the note 5 as well, on it right now. Like you said, you have to physically press the button before it will read the fingerprint. The point was that with the new nexi, you only need to place your fingerprint on the reader for it to simultaneously wake up and unlock the screen. Not something the note 5 does

Marshmallow has API's for app developers to implement this. I ordered this phone because I want to incorporate it with an app idea I have. I'm not sure if Marshmallow has this built in where you can limit access... I guess you could set up different accounts on the device which would limit access to the device based on fingerprint.
Not sure it can keep your wife/gf out of your snapchat account

Maybe they changed things with Note 5 but Note 4 does not do anything by just touching the home button you have to press. It's a crappy scanner too. I cannot wait for my 6P to arrive and forget about the Note 4 (well, I'll use it for VR)

It works on latest ironrom
Probably only works on ROMs that support the fingerprint reader.
I think that app only works on Touchwiz roms. I use it on my Tab S and S6, both on Touchwiz.
2 features of this app (may require pro version?):
Long touch can do one of the following: camera, screen-off, Google Now, or home screen
When lock screen shown (before you input password/pattern/swipe to unlock), touch home button to turn off screen. Useful when you turn on screen to look at time only and want to turn off screen without pressing power button (reduce button use?) or letting screen timeout (save battery?)
The developer also has an app to double-knock/tap to turn screen on-or-off. I use it to turn-off the screen with a double-tap. Using it to turn-on screen consumes battery.
