Hi Guys,
I have a XA Ultra dual sim model purchased from eBay through a singapore reseller and ever since I got the phone the front camera has not worked - shows black screen or says camera is in use by another application. I have only seen it work once for a second and never came back.
I have tried resetting, safe mode, diagnostic, repair through Xperia Companion (which failed the repair process), all of which does not work.
Anyone have experience with this?
Try to clear app data and cache of all camera related apps!. I had the same problem. Factory reset didn't solve it so I attempted manual app data and cache clear of those apps after factory reset!

You can try a solution.
1. You can try to making a backup and recoverd your phone.
2. Tear it down and check whether the camera cable is loosen or not.
3. Remove the camera and reinstall it to check whether it is normal or not.
4. If the methods above can not fix the camera problem, then you should turn to the hardware solution: change a new camera. "Witrigs" website has Xperia XA Ultra front camera repair guide video, I hope it can help you.

I received my Titan device recently and since then the device's camera is not working properly.
When I got the phone the camera was acting superb and I tested it by taking a few shots and a movie roll (all max quality). After the phone did a reboot over night due to drained battery the camera app began to show a black screen instead of a preview and hang up or crash when pressing the shoot button.
I called up the HTC support center in my country and was told that this is a common and known issue with Windows phones and is caused by 3rd party apps using the window's camera API. I got instructed to do a factory resetand afterwards, the camera did work properly, but again for a few shots (obviously after ending the phone call with them ).
So I decided to investigate the matter.
On my phone were installed the 'Skype','Whatsapp' and 'Mykebo free' apps before the reset, none of which seem to have a connection to the camera API (I didn't use Skype's video feature). This made my suspect the HTC's camera control software that maybe interferes somehow with the camera.
I began resetting my device and checking when the camera starts to fail.
Doing a couple of resets I saw that the camera started to fail after connecting the phone to the PC and disconnecting it while the camera app was working (the app itself does not run but shows the Zune 'disconnect to view media' screen). But on the last reset the camera didnt even start.
I am really confused since it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue (the photos were taken perfectly) but neither a camera API malfunction since the phone is used widely and even a best photo competition exists on this forum.
I want to avoid using my warrenty since it includes sending the phone abroad and is a bit costly for me..
Any ideas on what to do next? could it be that the ROM flushed in the phone is corrupt in any way?

Flash its with your device OEM .nbh .... If you haven't done that then maybe something is wrong with an API etc so flashing it might solve the problem.

I will try this out now.
I noticed that on the factory reset menu there is an option to show the OS CRC.
I recieved the values:
BL CRC-0x439025DD
OS CRC-0x6A9EA866
are this OK? the phone is fully patched.

I did a flush and the camera doesn't work at all, seem like this is a hardware failure :\
Thanks!
Hi,
Recently, the camera on my Atrix 4G stopped working. When I open the camera app it hangs for a little while and then I get "Can not connect to camera" error message.
I've tried to wipe cache, wipe davlik cache and did a factory reset (I'm using MROM :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836674)
but it didn't help. Also tried using a 3rd party app for the camera (camera360) but this didn't work as well.
What should I do? Is there a way that I can check if this is a software or a hardware error?
try doing a backup then full wipe and flash back a fresh ROM and then see if it works. If it does then it was a software problem on the old ROM maybe due to uninstalling some important system app or something around that line. If the camera still doesn't work on the new ROM after a full wipe then i would start to think maybe its more or a hardware problem but wouldn't be 100% sure without more testing.. good luck

I got a non working phone (no power) from Ebay .They go for $15-20. I just replaced the motherboard on the broken phone with mine and camera is working again. Replacing the camera board on my phone was not as easy as replacing the MB. My front camera never had a problem.
Many of the custom roms after cm 7 stable have camera issues. kernal issue if you want a stable camera i would recommend using cm7 stable. the kernal project is close to getting a fully working camera with flash but i would call it stable yet. many roms ae using there kernal and i found i would have to restart phone very often for camera error. switching back to cm 7 stable fixed the problem for me.

Does the proximity sensor and light sensor work? And does the speaker go mute when you plug in headphones? If not, then it's a hardware problem. according to ifixit :
"One cable to rule them all: the rear camera, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, pressure contacts for the headphone jack, and side volume buttons all come out as one piece."
So you'll probably need to replace one of these :

I think I damaged mine when trying to fix the volume down button. I already flashed the stock sbf file using RSD Lite but it still didn't work. So I might just buy this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Came...K_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item461135f1a1
and try and fix it.
Success!!!
I took the plunge and bought this :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replaceme.../150836470715?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:GB:3160
It took just under 3 weeks to arrive in the UK.
I followed the guide on ifixit :
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola+Atrix+4G+Teardown/4964
Now the camera is working great.
This is the first phone (hardware) I have ever fixed. Removing the old flex cable from the board was difficult because I didn't know you could just slowly pull it out. I kept trying to unhinge the plastic holding the cable and broke a small piece of it off. Attaching the new flex cable was also pretty hard.
I have had the Xperia Z2 for three days now, after giving my wife my Galaxy S4. Today a problem started occurring that hasn't happened so far.
When I boot into the camera from lockscreen by holding down the hardware camera button, when I try to take a photo the camera app freezes. It will either simply freeze, or it will pop-up the lockscreen asking for my security pattern, or it will allow me to depress the button to focus, but it will never actually take the photo. When I turn the screen off, re-open the screen and log-in using security pattern, I see the "Unfortunately, Camera has closed" error. On a few occasions I have been unable to re-open camera app from the app draw until I reboot the phone.
Bringing up app info and clearing data fixes the problem temporarily, but it comes back. Once the problem starts, it will happen every single time until you delete camera app data.
I am running the stock Australian ROM (Telstra branded unfortunately). Build number 17.1.A.2.55. I have yet to root or unlock bootloader as I am checking for issues like this and other reported problems first.
Has anyone experience this? Does anyone have a solution?
I have the same problem booting into the camera to take video. This happens 5 out of 10 times.
Video recording would freeze and crash the app.
My Xperia Z2 is on Build number 17.1.A.2.55 from Telstra.
Let me know if you have a solution to this!

Did ya install some mod for camera? Or is it even rooted? If not it is sony's fault just take it back to shop. It is not meant to happen by any reason.
I purchased my Xperia Z2 from Australian Telco Telstra, and not having issue. So I guess it is not matter of software? Before it get worse or mess it,
I strongly recommend you to take it back to shop and explain everything and show it to shop assistance.

Thanks for your reply. I returned it and got a HTC One (M8). Much happier now. No issues whatsoever.
Hi all,
I bought the Poco f1 yesterday and my rear camera portrait mode is not working. In normal mode it is working but when i switch to Portrait mode it gives me an error - Camera can't connect and the app crashes.
I have updated my device to the latest miui(10.2.)still the problem persists.
Can anyone please let me know what should I do to getting working. Any help is hugely appreciated.
Things I have tried -
1. Clear cached and data of camera.
2. Factory reset the phone.
3. Force stop and then on.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Hardware issue maybe

Got that warranty fam? Use it or maybe you have that 7 days replacement policy. It might have hardware issues or software issues, check it on your nearest trusted Xiaomi service center
The default camera app doesn't run properly on my Moto G Power 2020.
First it was error code 03400001. I tried searching this in Google, tried rebooting, doing a factory reset, uninstalling updates and reinstalling them, clearing the app's cache and data. I've tried other camera apps too and some of them run but they cant access the Front or the Macro camera.
Last night I did what i had read on Ebay, (uninstalling the update), freezing the app and then disabling it, clearing the data and cache and then rebooting it. I had done that before but for some reason I guess it had to be done repeatedly. So that error went away and the Macro camera started working. Now its just the Selfie camera with the 02400001 error. I've done the same and it doesnt work. A lot of people have this error on the internet in different models as well. Its so wrong that Moto phones have these issues.
Its under warranty but sadly I don't have the proof of purchase as I bought it used. I'm going to ask the service centers to see if they have any advice. My guess is that I need the right APK or if its actually a hardware issue I'm out of luck. Has anyone faced this issue or has any tips?
