[No Root] Remove bloatware - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello!
I've finally received my Note 7 and I'm going to wait for further development before I root.
I wanted to remove some of the annoying bloat installed and tried a couple of apps.
I've found an app called "Ez Package Disabler" and it somehow authenticates with Knox for root level access? Anyway it works! No Root required.
PS. I'm not affiliated with the developer in anyway, just sharing a great find.

Yes its a good tool and there are a few others like S Galaxy package disabler etc.
they all work fine!

Do you know of any other cool tricks / apps that allow customisation not just disabling packages?

Attention GALAXY Note II Devs! Get your Roms on Rom Toolbox NOW!

Hello Developers!
I work with Jrummy Apps Inc, the company and developer who brought you Rom Toolbox, Root Browser, Ultimate Backup, Busybox Installer, and many other root apps.
First, some background:
ROM Toolbox combines all the great root apps into one monster app with a beautiful and easy to use interface. ROM Toolbox has every tool you need to make your Android device fast and customized to your liking. ROM Toolbox has been featured on LifeHacker, XDA-Developers, Droid-Life, Android Central, RootzWiki, Android Police, DroidForums and other popular sites. ROM Toolbox has one of the highest ratings in the top 100 paid apps. Over 12,000 people gave it a full 5 star review! ★★★★★
ROM Toolbox combines apps like Titanium Backup, ROM Manager, Root Explorer, SetCPU, Ad Blocker, MetaMorph, Autorun Manager, Terminal Emulator, Script Manager, SD Booster, BuildProp Editor, Font Installer, Boot Animation Installer & many more apps into an all-in-one app!
The Revamped Rom Manager includes support for OTA updates!
Here’s where you come in:
We want your rom in our app. All roms will be *completely* free to download through our Rom Manager.
Why should you want to put your rom in our app?
Because your rom would be available to a much larger audience with more potential downloads and donations for you.
We want this to be as easy as possible for you.
To get the rom on ROM Toolbox, please do the following:
1) Fill out the file below with the roms/zips you want to have.
2) Save it in JSON format. I recommend using the free program called Notepad++ to modify and save json files.
3) Upload this file to your server. That way you can be in control of what ROMs show up at all times. Otherwise we can host it ourselves.
4) Send us the link to this file on your server.
5) Send us a summary of the ROM.
6) Send us the name of the ROM.
7) Send us the devices you support.
Code:
{
"version": "1", /*Keep this here, do not change or modify*/
"homepage": "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=...",/*link to website or original thread*/
"donate": "https://www.paypal.com/...", /*donation link*/
"roms": [
{
"name": "NoWizAOSPmod v.1.4.2 (7/22)",/*Name of Rom*/
"product": "NoWizAOSPmod",/*Name of series*/
"summary": "NoWizAOSP is a rom without wiz, and mimicking aosp...", /*Description of rom, and as updates begin, you will want to put changelogs here.*/
"device": "d2spr", /*device id*/
"url": "http://xeoduxus.com/downloadable/nowizaosp.zip" /*Direct download link, no goo.im please.*/
}
]
}
Note: you can add as many zips/roms as you want.. just add another section right under the "rom" entry. If you need any assistance filling this out feel free to ask and we can help you!
If you'd like to use addons, optional, flashable downloads with your rom, please let me know and I'd be happy to explain how to do it.
Ideally we would love for you to maintain your own download link. If this is not possible, please contact us and we'll do our best to help out.
ROM Toolbox is going through a major overhaul currently and has been completely rewritten. We want you to be a part of this!
Thanks!
~ Master Ramy
Jrummy Apps Inc.
(Mods, wasn't sure if this should go here or in development. Feel free to move it.)
Now is your chance, developers! Get in on this!
I recently uninstalled the paid version of ROM Toolbox as almost none of the functions worked in the Note 2.
Is the new version going to have all the functions available for the Note 2??
Yeah I cant even get Rom Toolbox to boot on this phone
If only there was a dedicated place here at XDA to find ROMs to download. Complete with support threads, change logs, and donation links to the Dev ....

Strange. I have the paid version also. Rom toolbox works fine on my Note 2. Everything I have used with rom toolbox works. I even installed the updated twrp 2.3.3.1from this app. They do need to get the latest 2.3.3.2 which has been out 5 days. As long as rom toolbox can stay updated I will always use it.
Have you tried changing the status bar icons??
I never used it for things like updating TWRP, once you have that installed its pretty simple to update anyway.

it does let you change some of the just not the 4g icon. ive changed the battery,vibration,wifi,usb with rom toolbox. the boot animations, fonts and some other things work as well. its as great app and i will always use it. everything work but a few icons. its even replaced titanium backup for me.
It must depend on what ROM you're running as none of the icons I tried worked with beans ROM (unless its been updated just recently)
Actually, all I tried to change where 4g and battery and it didn't work for either one so I gave up.
There where quite a few posts about this a few weeks ago, it wasn't working for anybody.
As far as Titanium BU, I never use that myself. i just BU quite a bit with CWM.

for the battery you will have to filter out everything but the 1% icons and that will give you all the icons you can use on beans rom. the 10 and 20% icons will not work cause beans is 1% increments

I have done the same with my backups. Rom toolbox has been busy lately. I'm happy to see this.

You missed the dripping sarcasm of his post somehow grant. He's saying we already have that

While XDA is excellent for all these functions, it is not as accessible as an app for people who wanna get things done directly on their mobile device. XDA also does not offer the ability to directly backup and flash the rom, change icons, etc.

Apparently there is an update to Geniego that allows devices to download content off-site. Has the Android app been changed? If so, will you be able to update your modification?

OOH(out of home) streaming currently is only on pc and iphone, once the android app has been updated you bet il "fix" it also.
Works like a charm
Installed it on my S4 and it worked GREAT. Thanks for doing this. My tablet is not one of the one's listed in on the DirecTV web site as a certified device so I can't even download it. I decided to give this a try and it works great.
Many thanks.
Thanks brother your awesome. Installed on my s3 with wicked sensations rom... works perfectly :good:

Thanks so much for the fix. Can't wait till they get the OOH streaming working, but cheers for at least making the app work on rooted android.
Yeah! Was about ready to ship the GenieGo back and let Directv know what I thought of the root check for their Android app. Works fine on my GS2 running the Jedi Mind Trick (JB2) ROM.
I requested a mod to be added to the modaco toolkit with the xposed framework
http://www.modaco.com/topic/361634-...r-xposed-framework/page__st__280#entry2144113
If Paul can add this to the toolkit, there is no need to modify the APK and we can keep the play store version installed.

It takes me two minutes to remove the root and custom rom check (as well as the other things that they check before allowing end user to use the app)
Sure he could do that, but he would have to update his code everytime the app is updated as well. (Package names change, app dev "attempting" to preform checks other ways therefore changing the code and so forth are many reasons I wouldnt think he would bother)
If you have a precaution about running an app that someone (in this case me) has modified (for any reason ) and you want to use the original application you know u can "hide root" with many third party apps, and its even possible with supersu. This way would allow you to use un altered app.
To recap, I have no problem with any additional solutions to reach the same end result. There are many ways to get the same result.
Cheers

Since my Nexus 10 updated to Android 4.3, this app doesn't run. I get error code AR/1001. Can you fix this also?

4.3 broke a lot of apps...
That said, from a clean reboot ( simply for less cluter) run a logcat and launch app grab the failure and send it to me.
Edit:
After some quick googling thats not an app or os problem but something on "thier" side of things.
Google " error code AR/1001" and you'll find what I found .

If you root you will lose Knox and all related Knox apps. Samsung pass and Samsung pay will never work again. S health can be made to work easily.
If you need to update then you just u root and do it OTA or just flash updates manually through Odin.
There are many positives of rooting but it depends on what you want root for. I have root for mods, theming and audio mods and removal of bloat. There's too much to name.
Thanks for your reply @callumbr1 i know Root's positives but I do not know negatives. For example if I will bring root Will I lose which features?
I want to only update system apps fot ex:edge screen, TouchWiz and make my phone more fast and delete saate apps or etc.
Do you know root disable how features in phone

You don't need root to update system apps like edge screen.
The negatives... you lose some Samsung apps. All Knox and features.
Really ? How can I update ? I found APK's but system does not give an update permission and give error. I do not using know app , only using SamsungPass, I think it's not big lose thanks

You can update edge screen through galaxy apps. The rest can be done by downloading apk manually. If you get any errors tell me what they are. Use like apk mirror for the apps.

Because sometimes some new versions are to update features that you might not have on your phone. Like edge lighting for examples rooting to update them would make no difference. :good:

In order to clean our devices, I used SD Maid by @Dark3n in the pro version for many years now.

You don't have to be rooted to use the pro version , being rooted means you can clean the root of your phone with sdmaid , a deeper clean , you can clear system, advertising logs & more, I find it the safest cleaner when rooted, never bricked my device whilst rooted others I have lol

Pro's;
Systemwide Adblock from hosts file
SwiftBackup
CSC Mods (call recording, silent shutter)
Undervolting Kernel
Better themeing
Effective Debloating of bloat apps
Cons;
I was unable to save my personal credit card details on the samsung servers in the name of SamsungPay - Oh what a shame.

I still want to root but you can use shizuku for hex theming and swift backup, and you can debloat uninstall or disable with adb commands without root just fine.
For me, I want Xposed, the nonroot version of Xposed called Lspatch that works with shizuku doesn't have any working modules as far as I can see.
