Hi guys
Recently while searching the web looking for ways on how to boost my tablets performance, i came across this build.prop tweaks, since am rooted, i decided to give it a shot and boom, my device became very fast!
My build.prop is currently tweaked and it works fine...but there is a problem
Everytime i try to add some codes into the build.prop file, my wifi work wont work, it connects to wifi but any wifi apps say that i have no internet connection, tried to turning on and off and even rebooting but no luck, however removing the code fixes it
My root also broke after i applied the tweaks, but replacing the root management app fixed it
The tweaking codes that is causing the wifi problem are some of the rendering tweaks + all network tweaks
I dont care about the network tweaks, but I want all the rendering codes to stay, without breaking my wifi, any recommendations?
Tablet name: HP Slate 7 Plus (no simcard support)
ROM Type: Stock modified (rooted)
Hardware: NVIDIA Tegra 3

Hi
I have a Galaxy S2 running Cyanogen Mod 7.1 Nightly Build 116 - this seemed to run the L2TP/IPSec VPN with no real problems over my phone network, I now have the Siyah kernel 2.5.2 installed via CWM runs great good battery life - only problems I've found Google Books refuses to open - force close everytime and my VPN (L2TP/IPSec) refuses to work properly over the phone connection.
It connects correctly - and when I visit a website it loads for about 5-6secs then the phone hard locks I have to hold the power button down and then turn back on. Strangely this problem does not occur if I VPN over my home Wifi - works great
I am new so I cannot post (less than 10 entries) to siyah's development thread - does anyone have a similar issue? My only option is to redo the 116 build and stick with cyanogens standard kernel, unless someone has a solution (exactly the same problems with siyah 2.5.1 GT)
Thanks
HI Krazeyivan
I have similar issue while using my at&t variant galaxy s2/i777 which turns off after connecting to hideipvpn server using L2TP/IPSEC VPN. It used to work fine on my galaxy S device but not on s2 for unknown reason.
I tried the same settings on Xperia play and it works just fine.
I am hoping that someone would post a solution for this, if not I still have 29 days to return the device for another branded one. Until then fingers crossed.
Please post it here on the thread if you find any solution.
alternate solution i guess: strong VPN with PPTP VPN but there is no trial offer and you have to pay 21 usd for three months (min pckg). Dont know if it works for sure, but it has encryption disabled and DNS to be filled in, looks promising but i found some forums where people complain that strong vpn PPTP is useless.
alright cheers now
You should try the stock kernel from CM. There is not much difference anyway.
Stock kernel is no help for me, I've tried few roms and kernels mixed, But it doesn't fix
First, let me say I searched threads and forums looking for someone who had same problem and could not find any posting similar. The only one I found that similar was about the APN. I created a new APN using the settings I found in that thread, but it has not helped at all.
Got a pop-up/update message on phone yesterday about upgrading to ICS. I was running a stock HTC Amaze - not rooted - on Simple Mobile, and it was working great.
Upgraded phone to ICS OTA and love the new interface but having two problems, even after setting up the phone to run on the Simple network.
1. Phone is slow and will only run/display 2G whereas it used to be fast and say 4G.
2. Wifi tethering seems to be gone as it will not allow a tethered device to go to the page requested. (I have found threads about how to address this issue, so it is not a big concern like to 2g/4g speed issue.)
3. My android smiles are gone now......all I have are normal smiles. :-(
Any suggestions on what to do would be GREATLY appreciated.....
under mobile network settings, set your network mode to wcdma only.
I don't know much about the tethering issue, been on custom roms for a while, but apparently its a paid feature now. unlock your phone and install a custom rom, and you wont have that issue anymore
Could be a bad flash, though it doesn't really sound so, just sounds like they restricted a few things on other networks.
Fixed and working great....thanks sent to both who posted replies!!!!
Glad to see you got it fixed. If you don't get MMS, make sure you change your APN to the Simple Mobile APN. T-Mobile and Simple Mobile has slightly different APN settings.
both my android phones (htc one, nexus 5) are very slow on my wifi. Play store images wont load and my facebook newsfeed doesnt upadte. Other apps like chrome however work. How can i fix this so that all the apps work. I have already cleared cache and done a factory reset of both the phone and router. Thanks for you help.
Might Be Stock Software
Honestly there are a lot of variables in the ROM that can cause differences in network performance. It would be useful to know what carrier you're on for the one and also a comparison in speed to something non android on the wifi.
I don't know if the good post but I've got WIFI problem on tablet Polaroid MID 9748 Android 4.2.2 kernel 3.0.36, CPU RK3188
Tell me if I've been moderated.
For example, when I switch from an application to the other as my browser to google play, I've to switch my tablet in plane mode in and out for refreshing the WIFI connection.
I don't know where this problem is coming from because I'dont have any problem for watching streaming also the wifi card should work fine.
Could be MTU problem? How to check?
Thank for advise
Hi,
I am hoping that some kind individual will be able to help with a problem that I have been having with some of our handheld android scanners that we use at work. Its a long story but basically someone bought 16 chainway 4000 handheld scanners that are cheap chinese handheld android scanners for use in our warehouse instead of buying something a little more enterprise class. The devices run Android 4.04 and we have had constant problems with them in our warehouse as they do not roam between wireless points. We now the wireless points are fine because other scanners are ok (windows ce based) and laptops running windows roam fine as well. We have used all of the various wifi analysers and have verified this. On investigation it looks to be because of a bug in this version of Android in that it doesnt roam properly. We have tried the wifi roaming fix applicaiton but it appears to be crashng fairly regulalry on these devices. Apart from throw them out, I have tried to research to find out if I can fix them somehow.
So far I have found that there are various posts that recommend adding the line
bgscan="simple:30:-65:300"
into the network area in the wpa_supplicant file.
This in itself has been difficult but the method I have used is using es explorer to edit the file and then use android commander to console in and change the ownership back to system.wifi and the permissions to 660
However, when rebooting the device, it does not connect to the wireless network that i have told it to even though it is the wpa_supplicant file that orginally contained the network details that did work before editing. I dont know what is stopping it connecting on reboot. The annoying thing (as well) is that if I put the password in again for the wifi network, it overwrites the wpa_supplicant file and loses the changes that I want to keep which is the bgscan setting.
I have tried to find a log file that might help me unover why it isnt connecting on reboot after adding that line in and changing the permissions/ownership.
Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks for any help! This issue has caused us many, many hours of work. i think if someone solves it I will get a crate of beer and send it to their house
thanks,
Paul
Phone - shouldn't matter.
SOC: Snapdragon 435
Vendor: Alcatel/jrc/jrccom
I have this little phone, it's rooted and I can pretty much access anything and everything. The tethering options are hidden by default but the generic apps out there can bring up the screen.
USB tethering works.
You can see that wifi tethering is missing. I imagine there is a setting, someplace, that enables it. Anyone got some pointers because I've exhausted the internet trying to find it!
