RR: Stock Camera app won't save to SD - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Resurrection Remix (LP) on my phone, and the stock camera app (com.android.camera2) will not save images to SD card. I have selected the destination folder as SD card in the settings, and I've made sure the card itself is writable in FileManager (and has enough free space too in GBs). The app has no issues saving pictures to internal storage (but it is very limited)
Do you gurus know what the issue might be?

[Q] How do i free up my internal SD card (to EXT?)

I am running Resurrection Remix V1.4 and have just seemingly run out of memory on my internal sd...i have a 32GB external and wondered what and how i could move.... I can't see an option on the AOKP camera to change the storage location of photographs..
anyone? i think it is worth formatting the internal SD card...will this mess with the rom or just clear stuff like photos videos and apps? how can i restore those?
better you manually move your stuff from int.SD to Ext SD, like images/songs/videos
copy paste DCIM to Ext SD and delete DCIM folder....it will automaticaly created again.
whoops i thought no one was going to reply so i reformatted the internal...everythings fine and it seems to have got my space back on the internal card but in the gallery there are just black squares....how can i fix that even if it means losing my photos?

procapture external sd storage issue

Is any one else having an issue with the camera app ProCapture not saving to external sd on your note
other cams do save to external sd except for Procapture
I know the devs of the app mention something about some devices having
issues with external memory. Just wanna know if are device is one of them or maybe Im doing it wrong.
I have the paid version and the free and both do the same thing.
...running aospxXx-v.6a
You have to manually change the storage location in the preferences menu. Set to to secondary storage location.

I did change it manually but all it does is create a folder on the internal sd card name external_sd
under prefereces/general/storage location
primary storage= /mnt/emmc/DCIM/Camera
and
secondary storrage= /mnt/emmc/external_sd/DCIM/Camera
it still saving the pictures on the internal sd card, just different folder.
can you confirm this is happening to you or is it actually saving to external sd
I can definitely confirm, mine's saving to ext sd card.
What ROM are you on?
running fj aospxXx.6a
might be the rom.
Its the ROM. Touchwiz ROMs will work , but not aokp, cm9, and aosp(unless there's some trick I don't know about).
I believe you have to swap the mounting points for emmc and sdcard.
I have tried already switching mounting points. same issue
I have tried emailing devs who made the app. no reply from them.
so I guess its the rom...
Fix on next update
FIXED: cm9/aosp roms not saving to external storage
update v1.5.1 for fix

[SOLVED] Easy hack to save photos to external SD by default (ICS)

A lot of threads on the web about how to force stock camera to save photos to external SD instead of internal SD storage, but no universal solution. Here is the simple trick that did the job for me.
Environment:
- Lenovo p700i, ICS 4.0.4
- no option in the stock camera app to choose photo saving location
- camera saves to internal storage (/mnt/sdcard/DCIM = /sdcard/DCIM) by default
- when low on internal storage space camera itself decides to save to external SD (/mnt/sdcard2/DCIM)
The trick:
1. move everything from /mnt/sdcard/DCIM to /mnt/sdcard2/DCIM
2. delete folder /mnt/sdcard/DCIM
3. create empty file /mnt/sdcard/DCIM
Drawbacks:
- camera will always show 0 remaining pictures
- every time taking a picture or video it will display a message "not able to save to default location"
Hope this helps.

But friend how to create an empty file????
I'm having same problem in my jb 4.2.1. There is no option to change camera storage location.
I think your method will work for me.
When I delete DCIM folder on my sd card it is created again when I take any pic and saves to that folder only. I have the same folder in my external sd card.
Please help.

SD card question

I have bought a new tablet (Asus k019) and a new sd card because I can only use 4/8gb of internal storage, but I can't download any game/app bigger than 1.5 gb (I have 1gb left on the internal storage) because it says I don't have enough memory and any picture I recieve on whatsapp or any picture I take it's saved on the internal storage (called /sdcard/ in file manager and the card /MicroSD/ ,btw). On my old phone all my media it's automatically saved on the sd card, not on the internal storage. How can I make the sd card the default location for apps/media?

You will have to set it in each app. Also even if you move the app to the sdcard most of the data will still be on internal storage. This is due to the way android boots things up. The sdcard is not made to run games off of.

I dont think that app has the option. The main reason is mostly due to google removing the base code for SD cards. Each OEM adds them back in their own way so there is no universal way to code an app for it.
Check the settings. I dont use it nor does anyone that I know. We all moved away when FB bought it.

Honor 7 not saving camera images?

Hi all, quick question. Using the stock camera app the camera is playing up in the fact that it'll seem to take a photo and it'll show in the gallery thumbnail on the camera app screen but when accessing the gallery there is nothing there? Doesn't make a difference if I save to phone or SD card?
I had this problem when I set my default storage to SD card. Solved when I reverted back to internal. Seemed to have a few problems when it was set to SD.
If your phone is rooted, download NextApp SDFix app, run it (instructions in app) and it will fix sd write permissions for every app on your phone.

Try formatting SD card with through memory management and setting SD card as default memory.
Go to Settings> Advance setting> memory & storage>select sd card> select format. format option will not be available if sd card is set to primary storage:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Sometimes when the memory gets full this happens. This happened to me. After taking a photo, the camera app seems to store the pic. but instead after the storing animation the camera app gets crashed due to less memory or RAM. On clearing RAM or SD card memory, it again starts working.
