Unlock bootloader using Linux alone - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
how can I unlock my RN3 SD bootloader using Linux alone?
I have tried MiFlashUnlock via wine, but it doesn't see my phone.
I have tools adb and fastboot installed on my Fedora an I can communicate with phone using this tools.

you just cant, MiUnlockTools only works at windows, Someone succeded unlock using Gentoo at xiaomi forums. Maybe you could try using VM. Linux user too here.

Yes I know that. But if someone is ably to debug (sniff) how fasboot is used by MiUnlockTools, then we can do the same on Linux.

you could try unofficial unlock, it can be used with fastboot though i dont know the difference

Need help to unlock my bootloader

Okay so I have the SDK, JRE and all other tool available. Fastboot and adb commands work when the device is on and unlocked, but when I tell it to reboot to the bootloader, Windows 10 claims that it cannot identify the device and as such the "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" command from HTCDev (EMEA Version) does not do anything except hang at "waiting for device to respond"
I suspect it's a driver fault however the 3.xx versions of the driver are not compatible with Windows 10 and the 4.xx versions simply do nothing when I try to run the exe.
Does anyone have any ideas? The device is new, stock and carrier unlocked (Thanks eBay!) and I'm going to the states soon and I'd like to use it instead of risking my Nexus 6 in Yosemite as I only need basic phone calls and such. But the stock OS is a bit yuck and I plan to use this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526391
Any help appreciated!

Serious problem: Can*t connect via ADB, no root, no TWRP possible.

Can anyone help? My new phone is not being recognized in ADB devices. Not on my Windows 10 machine, not on my windows 7 machine, not on my Mac.
So it must be something on the phone site. Rooting as well as installation of TWRP sadly not possible this way.
It seems it has EUI version 5.8.017s (stable). Whatever that means.
I have activated USB debugging.
There is an option in the developer options claiming that you can unlock the bootloader - is the bootloader locked? What can I do to unlock it? Or what does that mean?
I am getting a bit desperate here, the phone is rather useless for me without custom ROM, so I would have to send it back. Any chance I could get some help? I see people with similar problems here, but nobody seems to help.

Hi,
I have Linux in my laptop...so how can i unlock the bootloader of my kenzo
Thanks!

Otherwise not Possible
Try running MI unlock tool through wine or run windows in virtual machine.

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader on linux system

Mi unlock app is only available on windows (and I'm no longer able to find the old form to get the unlock code). Is it possible to unlock the bootloader while on linux (using fastboot like most other phones) ?

Grab virtualbox, should have one ready to start anytime.. you never know when you need it... Sometimes it is easier to just download and run that windows program than to searh for a workaround for days hehe

Yes but since it's using usb I don't think that virtualbox is reliable (had a lot of troubles rooting my previous phone using a virtualized windows and it finally worked using a real windows). Is there no more way to get the unlock code (to use it with fastboot oem unlock) ?

Unfortunately no.
When you use the right windows there is no problem, i always use it that way.. fastboot and adb work 100% fine but don't wait for MTP showing your phone
Just don't use bloated standard windows, no home or pro version, get ltsb... Not ltsc
I finally unlocked my bootloader using a windows device but another issue I found is that fastboot is not working using linux (working only on windows). The command just hang and never finish. Maybe a driver issue ?
Hi,
Here is a great way to do it. Maybe it will help next time!
