HELP for Htc One Max In a Water :( - HTC One Max

Hello, I dropped the device in water. When it out of the water, it worked. I thought it was wet inside. Then I made a big mistake. I turned it to charge because I had no battery. Now the phone does not work. When I turn on the charger starts to vibrate without without interruption. I'm asking for help?

did you submerge it completely? stick it in a bag of uncooked rice. It helps to absorb all the water inside. I fumbled my max into the sink but thankfully it only got partially wet. the phone was partially submerged from the bottom of the phone up to the top of the bottom speaker. I didn't turn it off or plug it in for several hours. During that time, i had it in a large zip lock bag full of uncooked rice. It lived except for the bottom microphone. the phone is still usable though.

[Q] water damage?

Good morning everyone. This morning was not a good morning for me, as I was feeding and watering my dog my phone slipped out of my jacket pocket and dropped into the dogs water bowl. It was in the water for less than a second, initially everything seemed fine there was barely any water behind the battery cover so I dried all that out and shook the phone to make sure there was no water in it's ports. Then shortly after that its USB port started going wonky(started acting like I was connecting USB cable and disconnecting it over and over), and my touch buttons at bottom of screen seem to stop working which makes doing anything damn near impossible. The USB plug seems to work as I've got it plugged up and its charging fine, but now my PC says USB unrecognized device. What I want to know is will these things work themselves out, is there something I can do to help them, or am I screwed?
Thanks for helping.

It is more then likely ruined. When ever a phone gets wet you should immediately remove the battery and put the phone In A large bag of rice for 3 days. No less then 72 hours and you have a very good shot at being OK. For phones that have been completely submerged and are water logged I would do 3 days of rice and then a quick dip In rubbing alcohol and then another day of rice. The alcohol prevents corrosion on the electrical solder connections. I hope you have insurance. You can try the rice now but since you supplied voltage to a wet circuit the damage is done. O and when I say a quick dip in alcohol I mean remove the screen and only dip the circuit board.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I got lucky. My USB port has stopped acting up and I was actually able to see contents of my phone thru the pc. Also my buttons are working fine again maybe there was a slight bit of water crossing circuits and it finally dried up.
The best way to dry it up, if it ever happens again is to use uncooked rice. Put the phone (with the cover open and the everything pull out) in the container with the rice covering it. Depending on how wet it got, it might take a few days ( 2 - 4) for it to completely dried up.

Arent you also supposed to put it in the sun, so it heats up and evaporates the water from inside the phone and then the rice absorbs it... or is that old news and overkill?

The sun only dry the outside part of the device. There will be moisure inside device (sometime) that will stay for a while. In order to get rid of the moisure from the inside of the device (if it is excessive water got in) is to use the rice.
In this case it might be excessive and overkill (since the device still works). But then I have mentioned that if next time. Sorry that I didn't indicated that if the device won't come on after sun drying, then use this method...

I think you misunderstood him... he's not saying put the phone in the sun, he's saying put the bowl of rice with the phone in it in the sun. That supplies heat which facilitates the process of water evaporating. I wouldn't leave it in direct sunlight though, just in a warm place near a window maybe.
mine dropped in toilet
2 days in rice with small bag of desiccant inside of phone(take battery out)
desiccant will dry out faster
I'd use some Lysol after that one

When mine fell in a cup of water, I put it in a bowl of rice, and then put the bowl over a scentsy warmer. The small light bulb in the warmer gently heated the bowl, without getting it too hot.

I just had my phone "waterproofed" by a company last week, just in case. A friend of mine demonstrated the effectiveness on his iphone 4 and I instantly wanted to have it too as I use my phone as a GPS unit on my motorcycle. I live only a few minutes away and walked in to have it done. I can't attest to their shipping: http://www.liquipel.com/

A few phones ago I tried the rice rescue method, but after a couple of days the rice caked up around the device and was a bother to try to chip away. Later, someone pointed out that I should not have cooked the rice.
I dropped plenty of phones in different liquids.
Nokia in a cup.of crown
Lg I'm the tub
Samsung in the washing machine this one was my i777
Samsung in the toilet
HTC in the toilet
and the rice trick had always worked for these expect for my bb curve. My daughter was slubbing all over it. it's Been a few months and it's still not working

Water on LCD screen

Hi! While i was having lunch accidentaly a glass of water poured on my phone. I took a napkin and i dried it up, then i turned the screen on and it worked for about five minutes. Suddenly, while i was checking my email, the screen turned off. Now i can see that the digitizer actually works, as well as everything on the phone, except the LCD screen. Do i have to replace the screen? Can i repair it somehow?
You're probably screwed now. If you would have taken the battery out immediately and tried it for at least 24 hours in a bag of rice, you probably wouldn't have had any problems. But since you tried to use the phone when there was water on the screen/in the board, you likely fried something in there.
You can obviously buy a new lcd and replace it yourself, however if water got to the lcd, it's only a millimeter away from the main board, and you will likely have a problem there as well.
Damn. I've put the phone in the rice since i don't have anything to lose now. Tomorrow morning i'll see if i need to replace the screen or not.
Yes! I left the phone in the rice overnight and now turning it on i've just seen that the screen works, so i've immediately pulled the battery. Can i use the phone now or should i put it in the rice again?
The longer you leave it in rice, the better chance you have at soaking up all the moisture. If it were my phone, I would leave it for at least 2 days.
My phone is working perfectly now thanks to the rice. If water pours on my phone another time in the future, I'll put it straight away in rice!

[Q] Phone dropped in water...help?

Ok so I was an idiot today and dropped my i777 in water. It fell into the three pieces (back, battery, screen), and i quickly dried it off and it turned on. i then left it in my pocket, and when i took it out, the battery was sizzling. Apparently, it humidified enough and left water marks on the phone. Nothing big, and the water indicators (?) on the phone haven't changed color, so there wasn't significant damage. However, i tried turning it on then, and it wont go past the boot logo (Galaxy SII) without looping and the battery still sizzles. I'm running bone stock, if that helps. Right now it's in rice just in case, but is there anything i can do other than wait?

Dropped in water? It's probably stuck on bootloop because of a battery issue or the internal SD got a little farked with the water and it corrupted it. Nothing you can do about it. If it works dried out then consider it a miracle.

dropping the phone in water doesn't make you an idiot. Life happens fast. Drying it off is the best effort, but you should always wait as long as possible to turn the device back on. The real killer is the water that gets into the crevices and creates short circuits where they don't belong -time gives those hidden bits of moisture a chance to dry out on their own. The bag of rice trick might have worked if it was the first thing that you did after drying it off. This may not be super helpful for this device, but hopefully it will help you in the future.

"Bheestie Bags
Silica gel packets are an alternative to rice. And a company called Bheestie actually sells a special bag that is meant just for saving your wet gadgets. The bag costs $18.14 (or $20.00 at some places) and has special packets inside. They aren't your typical silica gel packets either -- the little packets have a special molecular sieve desiccant formula, according to the company. Open the bag, drop your phone in for 24 hours, and the phone might just come out working again. The bag did work with an old BlackBerry, but we didn't have an extra iPhone for a test. According to the company, the bag soaks up water 700 percent better than rice. It is available through Amazon.com and other e-tailers."

repairing water damage

Hello everyone. I would like to share my experience about water damage. yesterday i noticed that my capacitive menu and back buttons had stopped working. I first tried to reboot my phone hoping that this may somehow fix the capacitive buttons. it did not. furthermore my screen became green and started flickering. next I removed the battery and noticed small drops of water on the inside of the back cover. sure enough the water damage indicator was purple indicating water damage..
I proceeded to google how to fix this . after watching some videos on youtube and a bit of reading. i decided to do the "rice thing" removing the sim card and battery and memory card and then putting the phone without the back cover in a ziploc bag full of rice. I did not have rice so i used couscous, BIG MISTAKE. the couscous got in to the sim tray and now the tray no longer holds the card. luckily it is cheap to order a replacement on amazon for about $10.
I then took apart the phone a bit as i saw that the couscous got in to the mhl port as well. Later i saw a suggestion to put the phone in a stocking before putting it in rice to prevent small particles from getting into the phone.
I then removed the mother board and the cover to the camera flash and speaker. all of this is on youtube how to disassemble the phone.Using a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol I gently cleaned the motherboard the chassis the battery. and everything i could get to . making sure to clean all the terminals i could find, all ribbon connections etc. Then i used a can of compressed air computer cleaner.
I let the phone dry for about half an hour. under a lamp. reassembled it and booted up.. the capacitive buttons were back up and running but the screen seemed a bit pale but much improved. I took the phone apart again and cleaned it with the alcohol a second time only i applied the alcohol more liberally and now the display is almost back to normal.
I ordered a new sim tray and an emergency drying kit
I used the 70 % isoproplyl alcohol which is not recommended . It is better to use 99% ethyl alcohol which is purer and dries faster.
I hope this helps anyone in the same boat. if anyone has more to add regarding water damage i would greatly appreciate the input. thanks .
this guide may help !

Water issue

Hello, Today i used my oneplus x to click some pics while it was raining...so it got exposed to some moisture and bit of water. It is working without any issues, but its speaker is not function upto its maximum, before it was working fine, any suggestions will be helpful
Lean the device up with a towel under it so the speaker is facing down. Power off the device and let it dry for a while. Even on water resistant devices (which the OPX is not by the way, don't use it in the rain unless you need to) the speaker will get water sitting on the speaker cone which either dampens it or stops it from working entirely until it dries.
i have kept it in a newspaper and will wait for like 2-3 days so that it dries up, can i use a hairdryer or any heat device to dry it up?
Put it in rice, since it's hygroscopic.
Had the exact same issue.. Except my microphone got ruined. I kept my phone under rice and left it overnight . DO NOT USE HAIR DRYER !
It will ruin your phone.
