I want to use Aroma Installer (https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Aroma-Package) to choose which gapps are installed on CM 12.1 However, it doesn't work unless I check everything. If I don't check everything, the installer exits at 30% or something, back to TWRP. Is there another way I can specifically choose which gapps get installed?
There are pre-packed Aroma gapps installer on the web, grab one of it and use it, there is of no need for you to build it yourself.

initial opinion:
- rom is very smooth
- you can select english language upon install; ui will be mostly english
- i installed a gapps minimal x package from here; play store starts, but won't connect/login to the account (that may be a temporary issue)
- i couldn't get any apk's to install, this may be down to some security settings i could't figure out yet (installation from unknown sources is permitted)
- live icons look rather nice
- location updated very quickly
- accented unicode characters like á, ű, ú, í (etc) are replaced with chinese characters in the weather app
- in messages, unicode characters are weirdly spaced, so don't expect full unicode support

I've installed stock 5.1.1 and am interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully got Xposed installed on this version. I did go through the process of downloading what I thought was the correct SDK (Wanam's ARM SDK22) and the installer, but it didn't work well and I actually had to flash the remover zip. At this point I'm wary of going through all this again, so if you've successfully done this, please let me know what files you used. Many thanks if someone can assist.
I have sucessfully installed xposed framework in my device with 5.1.1 so First you had to root your phone and deodexed your rom to install xposed framework for wanam .
OK, got it working. The latest version for 5.1.1 does not require deodexing, which saved me some work. I found the correct files and installed and all is good. I personally used xposed-v80.0-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160211.zip and xposedinstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk. Install the xposed installer first, then flash the zip, and I was able to use my favorite xposed modules. Anyone wanting to do this definitely read up on it first, and I keep xposed-uninstaller-20160211.zip on my sd card in case I install something that makes my phone have problems.
Hi i have recently flashed exodus rom 6.0 which is working quite nicely overall but it seems i have flashed the wrong version off Gaaps. I am unable to download certain apps from the playstore which worked fine with my previous stock rom. I am having compatibility issues with apps like google+ etc. I would like to flash the correct Gaaps for this rom which i have now found but i am not sure iff i can flash over existing Gaaps or do i need to start from scratch. I am hoping i can flash over existing gaaps because i have set up all my apps etc as i like them. thanks in advance for any input.
I used OpenGapps mini without issues on last nightly.
i ended up flashing opengaaps stock which was like 530mb it fixed the all the problems but installed lots of google bloat which i then had to uninstall using root uninstaller but at least everything is working as it should now.
Since I've tried all the workarounds with Magisk Sound mod modules and none of them worked.
Finally got the Viper4Arise working. I'm sharing the steps that got it working on my XT1804 Stock 7.1.1.
Preparations:
Rooted Moto G5S Plus.
TWRP recovery installed.
Here's how it's done:
1. Download latest ARISE DeuteronomyAroma Installer zip.
2. Reboot to TWRP, click on instal, select downloaded zip and swipe to install.
Aroma installer will start.
3. Tap "Next"
4. Select "New User" and tap "Next"
5. Select "Core System, then Modules" and tap "Next"
6. Now keep tapping "Next" without changing already selected option on each module installation,deep_buffer from audio policy, selinux permissive, sdcard permission fix,etc page.
7. Tap "Next" on Ready to Install page.
8. After installation is complete. reboot to system.
9. Open Viper4Arise application from drawer and allow the required permissions.
10. Done. Keep playing with effects.
Not Working
Not working. Along with that installing 10s of bloatwares of no use.
I don't get it. Magnum Opus official installer works, why is this better?

Because it is an aroma installer this making it easier for newer people to use Arise I personally like magnum opus better but I can see the appeal of the aroma installer.
I just installed the Viper4Android FX Materialized module from Magisk. It only takes about five clicks of the volume key and I just selected the latest version of everything when it asks. I then disabled the AudioFX add-on that comes with Resurrection Remix (and possibly other ROMs) as this was taking priority over viper. Then go into the viper app and enable a few things and it works beautifully!
On my Axon 7 I use the Deuteronomy Aroma installer almost exclusively on all ROMs (with SU. I don't do Magisk). In a multiboot environment (DBP) it installs where others have failed.
Suppose I could give it a try here too.

Installed but no use of it ... Reporting from aosp xtended rom v5.5 oreo
How to remove this mod ?
I was wondering if there is a custom recovery with aroma support like the gapps one.
So far I've tested orangefox, pitchblack, twrp official and none of them supports the gapps aroma installer.

None. Those days are gone.
If you need gapps like aroma in which you can choose what you like in gapps, use gapps config file and paste it in your internal storage while flashing gapps and modify this file as per your requirement. You can see few tutorials on YouTube I believe on this.
Or you can use modified Nikgapps.
