I was wondering if there is a custom recovery with aroma support like the gapps one.
So far I've tested orangefox, pitchblack, twrp official and none of them supports the gapps aroma installer.

None. Those days are gone.
If you need gapps like aroma in which you can choose what you like in gapps, use gapps config file and paste it in your internal storage while flashing gapps and modify this file as per your requirement. You can see few tutorials on YouTube I believe on this.
Or you can use modified Nikgapps.

initial opinion:
- rom is very smooth
- you can select english language upon install; ui will be mostly english
- i installed a gapps minimal x package from here; play store starts, but won't connect/login to the account (that may be a temporary issue)
- i couldn't get any apk's to install, this may be down to some security settings i could't figure out yet (installation from unknown sources is permitted)
- live icons look rather nice
- location updated very quickly
- accented unicode characters like á, ű, ú, í (etc) are replaced with chinese characters in the weather app
- in messages, unicode characters are weirdly spaced, so don't expect full unicode support

I want to use Aroma Installer (https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Aroma-Package) to choose which gapps are installed on CM 12.1 However, it doesn't work unless I check everything. If I don't check everything, the installer exits at 30% or something, back to TWRP. Is there another way I can specifically choose which gapps get installed?
There are pre-packed Aroma gapps installer on the web, grab one of it and use it, there is of no need for you to build it yourself.

Open gapps allows you to pick different sized packages based on what gapps you want. I typically run their Micro package and if I'm missing anything I'll grab an .apk or hit the play store for what I need.
I have a stock room, rooted with magisk, I checked the settings, SE for Android: permissive, when checking with getenforce: permissive, I also have several Xposed modules installed, and substratum, plus fully debloated, and v4a installed. I will post a link and instructions to flash the TWRP restorable rom( yes TWRP restorable) and I hope this works for you guys. There are much more possibilities with an permissive selinux.
Autocorrect.... *Rom not room
Update:
Because of the substratum themes I have installed, the power menu does not work properly.
A list of Xposed modules preinstalled on this OS:
Gravitybox(MM)
WanamXposed
Android N-ify
Burnt Toast

Xposed Version: 87.1 Custom Wanam build( for Samsung rom support)

Substratum themes installed:
Material glass
Pixel UI

Magisk version: 15.2

Other pre installed apps:
ES File Explorer Pro
OGYoutube + MicroOG module
Gboard ( to replace stock keyboard)
Action Launcher ( to replace stock launcher)

I will upload the link a little later because of slow upload speed....
Here is the link to the TWRP Restorable Rom
https://mega.nz/#!HYMUTDyI!UZZydjyNdcs2q9jNLwbhveH8fyd-PqzfJVGQ2iFSC_Y
And the link to the Magisk Patched boot image ( J3 Emerge Sprint only!!)
https://mega.nz/#!yQcUiJyR!_KzFUzuEZ1UNhsBPmzQ8woA8umEXjsJO4gYmiEITOUM
When restoring select all options, then press restore, after that flash the patched boot image using TWRP, then flash the Magisk zip, and the no encrypt zip by ashyx, when flashed reboot system and you should be done! If anything goes wrong post down below.
To be honest, i think this should go under the roms section...
also, one key thing i almost forgot, you need to first create a backup in twrp, then place the folder inside the zip into the folder under your serial number created by TWRP during backup
Can anyone help solve the wifi problem??
Can you repost the download links
does it matter if you use supersu or magisk?
i got permissive kernel using magisk
you need to create a patched boot image using magisk and then flash in twrp, this will make ur kernel permissive
Since I've tried all the workarounds with Magisk Sound mod modules and none of them worked.
Finally got the Viper4Arise working. I'm sharing the steps that got it working on my XT1804 Stock 7.1.1.
Preparations:
Rooted Moto G5S Plus.
TWRP recovery installed.
Here's how it's done:
1. Download latest ARISE DeuteronomyAroma Installer zip.
2. Reboot to TWRP, click on instal, select downloaded zip and swipe to install.
Aroma installer will start.
3. Tap "Next"
4. Select "New User" and tap "Next"
5. Select "Core System, then Modules" and tap "Next"
6. Now keep tapping "Next" without changing already selected option on each module installation,deep_buffer from audio policy, selinux permissive, sdcard permission fix,etc page.
7. Tap "Next" on Ready to Install page.
8. After installation is complete. reboot to system.
9. Open Viper4Arise application from drawer and allow the required permissions.
10. Done. Keep playing with effects.
Not Working
Not working. Along with that installing 10s of bloatwares of no use.
I don't get it. Magnum Opus official installer works, why is this better?

Because it is an aroma installer this making it easier for newer people to use Arise I personally like magnum opus better but I can see the appeal of the aroma installer.
I just installed the Viper4Android FX Materialized module from Magisk. It only takes about five clicks of the volume key and I just selected the latest version of everything when it asks. I then disabled the AudioFX add-on that comes with Resurrection Remix (and possibly other ROMs) as this was taking priority over viper. Then go into the viper app and enable a few things and it works beautifully!
On my Axon 7 I use the Deuteronomy Aroma installer almost exclusively on all ROMs (with SU. I don't do Magisk). In a multiboot environment (DBP) it installs where others have failed.
Suppose I could give it a try here too.
Moto G5S Plus XT1806, GZOSP_PixelExperience, MultiROM, Tapatalk 4.9.3
Installed but no use of it ... Reporting from aosp xtended rom v5.5 oreo
How to remove this mod ?
