Just used Odin to get back on ND7, went fine. I have enabled Developer Options and then enable usb debugging. I can't get the damn phone to be in usb debuggin mode when attached to my pc with a usb cord. Have tried multiple usb cords and have revoked previous auths. Just cannot get the popup allowing auth for my pc which is windows 10.
Don't know what method of magic worked but got it to authorize. All is good.
I know for me there seems to be a delay when I plug in my phone each time... almost 30 to 45 seconds.. not sure why...

It happend after I flashed JK5 (I lost track with so many updates)
The phone is not recognized by windows anymore, cannot access odin or anything.
I have another vibrant and is still working so drivers are installed and everything.
The phone does recognize the connection, lets you choose, can get into download mode, but is just not being seen by the PC,
Since the other vibrant connects fine cable is also right, it is a problem strictly with this phone.
I tried flashing other roms, modems, and so on via CWM but problem is not solved.
Any help or ideas will be appreciated
I had the same problem. Someone said try usb debugging, & it worked like a charm.
Applications/development/usb debugging. I hope this helps.
Thanks, I tried that, and all the options for pairing without success

If USB debugging is enabled, it shouldn't give you a choice of usb connection mode. Make sure your USB cable is unplugged when you enable debugging, or else it will just tell you to unplug and try again.

I meant to say, first i tried with debugging enabled, did not work, after that i disable debugging and tried Kies, Emdia Player and Mass Storage, still not recognized, also is not recognized when in Download mode.......
Any Ideas?
Just got a completely stock, not rooted Vibrant, and when I plug it into the computer, only the phone makes a sound. My computer doesnt even detect that anything new is plugged in.
Furthermore, I went into settings>applications>development and ENABLED (checked the box) USB debugging, and when I go to root the phone with the utility provided by Bay_Wolf, it says "Please enable USB debugging mode". In the menu, the box is CLEARLY checked. Why is my device not being recognized?? My goal is to flash a different rom to the phone, I dont have any info or data to back up, the phone is brand new. Can anyone help??
Yeah, so i've read plenty of topics about USB problems, but none gave me the
anserw.
I'm running Villain ROM 3.0. I just cant connect my phone to the computer (Mac).
It work well before also after flashing Villain.
What i tried:
1. connecting my phone without usb debuging ->phone gives the sound and report in the notification bar : "MTP - initializing" then "USB Connected, MTP-connected" But it does not gives a connection with my mac.
2. Connecting my phone with usb debuging ->phone gives the sound, but nothing happens. nothing in the notification bar neither on the computer. It's strange becouse before it was making the same sound and giving me the info in the notification to connect.
3. I've also tried KIES air it works fine. i can see my phone content, but when im trying to send one file (130mb) there is no reaction to this.
Also some time ago i was able to get usb working by simply choosing usb debuging and restarting phone.
But now i have no acces to my storage
Please help
I have a similar problem.
When I connect my SGSII to my PC (with USB Debugging On) I see 2 Removable Drives in Windows' Explorer. If I click on either one I get the "Please Insert Disk". If I connect to the same USB with USB Debugging off, then Kies Starts but does not connect.
Now the weird bit, if I do the same thing in the next USB port, then everything works fine.
Going back to the first USB slot then the problem reappears.
The 2 USB slots are next to each other and go back to the same controller on the motherboard. I have removed Kies and reinstalled Kies. I have uninstalled all the drivers. I have even changed the USB cable. When I plug a USB External Hard Drive into either USB, it works fine.
Maybe the phone just likes the one connection per computer. I'll have to test that out in my work's PC.
Update:
managed to get a microUSB cable and tested it on my work's PC. Exact same situation. Both PCs run Windows XPpro.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Now, when you said that, i checked with my second usb por, and everything works fine .
So thanks for your help. One working with sgs2 usb port is enought for me
I installed the drivers for the phone (v3.0.0.007 & v3.0.0.017), rebooted PC since it wasn't working when I plugged the phone in, then plugged in phone which worked (couple devices showed up in device manager), fired up ADB which I already had installed for my OG Droid & Nook Color, "adb devices" returns nothing. Replug phone in, select HTC Sync for the method, verified USB Debugging was showing up, "adb devices" - still nothing. Now in Device Manager, I don't have any HTC Android devices like I saw a minute ago. Now I just have "Unknown device" and it won't accept the USB drivers from C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64. When I plug in the phone, it no longer prompts me what I want to do on the phone, it just connects USB Debugging and nothing else - no disk drive, no HTC Sync, no nothing. Rebooted PC & phone, same deal when I plug in the phone - it just has an "unknown device" and doesn't let me choose HTC Sync or anything. I made sure the check box is still checked for "ask me" under settings -> connect to PC.
I am reinstalling drivers now and am not going to install the full HTC Sync package. Maybe that'll work better. So far, it appears that the drivers and/or HTC Sync software are crap.
Unplugged phone
Uninstalled all 3 HTC pieces in appwiz.cpl
Installed v3.0.0.007 drivers
Plugged phone in
Got message about failing to install hardware
Device manager now shows: Other devices - Android Phone
It did this the first time I tried installing stuff and a reboot of the PC fixed it, so I'm rebooting...brb!
No luck still. Trying some more stuff. If anyone out there has any ideas, let me know. My phone still won't prompt me for action when I plug in the USB.
Uninstalled HTC USB drivers (v3.0.0.007)
Installed HTC Sync package, including HTC USB drivers v3.0.0.017 & USB BMP drivers
Plugged in phone - same problem
Running out of ideas. Might do factory reset on phone. Might try another PC.
OK I think I figured it out. You have to turn off USB Debugging. As soon as I did that, my PC found new hardware and the phone displayed the expected prompt. It mounted an E: drive and wanted to load TL-bootstrap.exe, which I didn't do.
When I go to the debugging options, it shows as already on even though I just disabled it. I uncheck it and recheck and it goes back to broken state - PC shows an unusable "Android Phone" under Other Devices.
Hmm...now what?
Had to go to a meeting, so I did a factory reset on my phone and set it to not sync, so it should be just like it was when I first got it from Verizon.
Without USB debugging turned on, the phone appears to connect to my PC properly, but HTC Sync says "no device connected" and the phone says "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC. Please make sure that HTC Sync is installed and opened blah blah blah".
The only hardware that appears in device manager is a pair of "HTC Android Phone USB Device" in the Disk Drives section, as well as a 3rd one under DVD/CD-ROM Drives.
Since HTC Sync isn't working, I guess the drivers are completely failing. I hate crappy drivers. Might have to just mess with my phone from a different PC.
Now USB Debugging won't load at all. I toggle it on and off, disconnect and reconnect USB cable, toggle it again.....nothing happens. Seems to be going downhill quickly.
Uninstalled all HTC software again, including a WModem one that I didn't see before (could be leftover from rooting the wife's Incredible).
Plugged phone in to see what it does - pretty much the same as when all the HTC software is installed. That is, 3 drives mount when USB Debugging is turned off. Turning debugging on is working now, but there is no driver installed on my PC. However, it doesn't matter if I install drivers, it still won't use them.
Does anyone know if there is a special driver for Win7 64-bit?
I have Windows 7 x64 Pro at the office and home, and am using the drivers from HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe just fine. Try doing a hard power cycle on the phone (power off, then on -- or yank the battery) and restart your computer. Use a USB port that is on the back of your motherboard or from a trustworthy powered USB hub (undervoltage will cause you all kinds of grief). Try another cable. Use charge-only mode, not HTC Sync.
Sorry for the spam earlier. Ya, it was just my laptop. My home PC is Win7 x64 as well and it works fine. Wireless tether is workin'. Loving the Rezound!
REPLY:ADB not seeing the device
yeahh i got so scared because ADB would not recognize my Rezound after Re-Flashing the Stock Rom because for some reason my phone suddenly kept re-booting over and over non stop.. so anyways.. i found a fix. well it worked for me at least. i re-installed the HTC drivers and then on the phone i turned "USB Debugging" On. then i plugged the phone to the computer, opened up CMD and when typing
"cd c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\ ENTER"
"adb devices ENTER" it came back as
List of devices attached
HT19YS204824 device
Before it would say error. it worked for me. hopefully this is at least of some help
OK so yesturday I bricked my Samsung vibrant and used Odin to get back to stock was succesfull now when I try to connect I get USB not recognized. I tried device manager to uninstall and install drivers again and still nothing all it says is unknown device I tried debuging, still nothing. I dont no what to do.. if I unplug and plug in the wire I'll get it like 1 time outta like 500 times trying to connect and disconnect helllllp lol
Double check that you have the drivers install. Also double check that you do infact have USB debugging ticked. If you are getting it 1 of 500 +/- times, to me that sounds like it is a USB cord issue. Try changing ports and I have even heard of people putting it in a port closer to the back of the PC b/c it is closer to CPU and has worked. Really think that it is a bad wire though.
try reinstall the Mini kies that have usb driver in it or try on your phone in setting/applications/usb setting click ask on connection
Other way is remove the usb driver from device manager and reboot it and it will load up the driver itself.
still nothing
then you might have bad cord. If you have extra cord and see if it work. Other test is can you charge your phone if it charging then there other issue on your computer. My guess is try odin again
