The tray's height is really very small! Several times, I did not receive signal on the second SIM due to the SIM chip always slightly 'moving' away from its original position when I slided in the tray. Only some better glue could help here..
But from this experience I know that it can be very tricky to open the tray one more time after all 3 cards are in. In used a paper clip to pull hard - and I mean really hard - several times from the trays hole. This worked for me several times. The tray flew several meters ... Wish you good luck!
edit: I used a 64GB microSD card from Lexar and I suppose that the card's height is slightly depending on the memory capacity. If you tried 128GB card, it may be much worse. Dunno how the different vendor's card differ regarding the card's thickness.

there is absolutely no lucky here, the key is how to make your sd card as thinnest as possible.
i use sand paper and applied to my sd card on trade mark side, and it can be as thin as i want. use double tape to attach 2nd sim on sd card and it can be work flawlessly.

yes...as smooth as before...
becareful if you want use this way, if you make your sd card too thin, your phone won't read it. if this hapen, put any plastic tape on the backside of your sd card and the phone will be able to read it again.

Is it Micro Sim?

Just wondering if I have to call Three and ask for a Micro Sim?
Thanx.
you can either ask your provider or simply cut your sim by yourself, there are many guides for that.
I'm using my sim card on different phones, i don't take the flagship to fishing or so, so i cannot have just micro sim, as i need also normal sim card.
I asked my mobile network guy about micro sim, and explained my needs. He offered me to visit any of the offices and the staff in them have special scissors that will cut the micro sim out of the normal sim card, and i will have the empty leftover frame from normal sim, it will be usable once i will go fishing, i will put the micro sim into the normal sim's frame and could use it with the older phone
You can find cutters on ebay or amazon for ten or less. I figure I might be trimming a few of them for my needs so I decided to spring for one. Will be a little curious to see if my sim survives the surgery or not. lol
**** i didn't realise it was micro sim you learn something new every day ill have to ensure i somehow get a micro sim instead of a normal sim when i buy it.
---------- Post added at 10:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ----------
Actually this may present a problem for me as i visit the UK a lot and when i do i put my UK SIM card in my main phone the Galaxy S2 and my usual Irish SIM in an old Samsung tocco i use but if i need a micro SIM card it's unlikely to fit in the Tocco it'll be fine when im at home but not otherwise.
Have to say im a bit pissed over this what the hell is wrong with just having a normal SIM
So you should read my post how to have your normal SIM cut to have the frame

A SIM card is like a full-sized credit card.
When you get a sim card in the mail with the mini-SIM inside, the plastic card it is attached to is actually the normal SIM card size.
So it goes SIM> Mini-SIM> Micro-SIM in terms of size and what people consider a normal SIM card is infact a Mini-SIM card, which was the joke I was making.

It is indeed.
OP: just get an adapter to use the micro sim in another phone. I'm getting this one from Amazon UK at it seems better than the others I've seen (no sticker to hold things in place needed!) My plan is to order a micro sim from Three and have it activated before I receive the S3 and I'll just use the micro sim with the adapter in my S2 in the meantime. The activation request form for Three UK can be found here or I assume it can all be done in-store too if you have one nearby

Well take it from me, you better be careful taking the microsim out if its within the tray or the frame, the frame/tray can pull on the contact pins of the sim slot and break them. The cost for repair isn't cheap for these new phones as I found out because sim slot replacement for phones are almost never sold separately so you'll have to send it back to the manufacturer.
Of course, if you have one of those phone with their own sim tray or the sim slot close use a 'fold down door', then its good.

Hi
Just checking - there seem to be a couple of slightly different layouts of the chip on a SIM. This cutter is described as being for an iPhone. Is it definitely suitable for all UK SIMs?
TIA
i got lucky, when i ordered a replacement micro sim in preperation, for a phone with micro sim it came with an adapter so i can still use the sim in a stands sim slot phone.
My sim cutter & adaptors came this morning
Just bought an micro->mini adapter. Too bad the title said it was for iPhone. Now I feel dirty...
ANYWAYZ, learning that what I normally called a SIM, what actually is a mini-sim, is actually true. I remember the good ol' days when we had telephone cards (Sim cards) we put in telephone booths to call people.
edit:
I just googled a bit, and I am wrong. The telephone cards are 1FF, and we are currently using 2FF. Ignore above text. The Sims we are using now though, IS mini-sim.

Careful: very fragile micro-SIM slot

Hi guys,
I'm just posting this hoping that it will save some phones: I pushed my micro-sim card a little bit to hard in the slot (but only slightly), and it seems to have broken the spring that ejects it.
Now, the SIM does not stay in the slot, it always comes out. I had to block it with a little piece of plastic that holds between the SIM and the battery, and it works fine.
My point: be very careful with that micro-SIM slot!
I would send it in for repair, but i rooted and flashed already...
Just a word of warning !

SIM Cards

I've been reading and watching that this takes micro SIM cards - at least for the US versions. What about the international versions? Do they take regular sized SIMS or micro as well?
They take micro as well.
It's micro sim
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
Why are all high end sets migrating towards Micro Sim all of a sudden?
Smaller. Allows more stuff to be put into the same area. That's my guess anyway.

And it looks like we'll have do deal with nano sims at some point... It's going to be 12.3mm tall, 8.8mm wide, and 0.67mm thick which is apparently 40% smaller than micro. And yes they do it to free up some space inside.

So, then this really this isn't a traveling phone then. Only certain countries even offer micro sims. If I want to use a local SIM, I'll need a different phone.

What's sad is that they made regular SIM cards (sometimes referred to as Mini SIM cards) way bigger than they needed to in the first place. That excess room provides no added benefit. It would have saved time/money/resources just by making micro SIM cards to begin with.

ebay LG Phoenix not recognizing micro-SD cards?

I just received a used AT&T LG Phoenix (P505) that I acquired from ebay. It does not detect any of the micro-SD or SDHC cards that I've inserted into the card holder. All of the cards work as I use them with other phones and computers.
When I start the phone, I get the following notification:
Removed SD card
SD card removed. Insert a new one.
Anybody know if this something that can be fixed by a "hard reset" or some other method, or do I need to contact ebay buyer protection?
Thanks!
The card slot is damaged. Get it changed from LG service centre.
When u insert, try to go to Settings>SD Card>Insert.
If no, try hard reset.
And if it won't either, the slot is damaged.
Take a good look at the pins in the SD slot, with magnification & good lighting. If they look at all bent, send it back.
I suppose you could also try cleaning the contacts. It's worth a shot.

I got the seller to refund me, minus shipping both ways. I did try to clean the contacts with no luck. The pins did appeared to be correctly aligned. If you're in the market for one of these, you're gonna want to test the micro SD slot, there are numerous Optimus One (or derivative) phone on eBay with the same issue. the lack of internal storage makes the phone nearly useless without it.
That sucks. At least you got (most of) your money back, without a hassle.

Could always try reformatting the cards to fat32 in windows. And perhaps error check

where does a micro sd card go in the V10?

Where does the sd card go that the promotion will be giving to users for the v10? I've taken the back cover off and I can't figure out where the card would go. Is it something I'm not seeing?
Slides in right above (on top) the SIM card. It's like a dual slot card receiver.

I figured this was it, but honestly, there was nothing and nowhere where I could find any information. Even on the LG site, there's nowhere to download the manual. I am at work and didn't know if it was actually in the manual as to where to insert the SD card.
Thanks.
Yeah the only indicator is the little SD / sim logo with above it.
