[MOD] Google Dialer and Contacts for Marshmallow/Nougat (June 20, 2017) - X 2014 Themes and Apps

m New Google Dialer and Contacts
There's nothing better than have the Google Apps on your device.
This mod switches the AOSP's dialer and contacts, by those provided by Google, bringing the new resources that only Google can give us.
Working perfectly in custom ROMs based in Marshmallow (6.x) and Nougat (7.x)

Very nice! Thnx!!!!!!

Is not needed to change the default dialer in settings?
Enviado desde mi XT1021 mediante Tapatalk

Much nicer than the default that comes with 6.0 Marshmallow. I just took the plunge to unlock my bootloader, flash 6.0 Marshmallow for U.S. Cellular and now replaced the dialer with this much better one. So glad it was ported. Thanks to the porter/dev that did that!

I installed this on stock rooted 6.0 and enabled all permissions. Contacts works and the new dialer will open but I can't access the call screen. So incoming calls ring but I can't answer. Same for outgoing calls - I can select a contact and it dials out but I cant manage the call. May play around with this more to see if it will work on stock rom.

I'm also running a USC Moto X with 6.0. Did you have any trouble interacting with the USC voicemail service? (I could not log in)

I'm having the same issues as mentioned above; this is already set my default. It's the only phone I have. Permissions?

It looks good, but, how to hide telegram contacts?
Somehow I miss CM7 dialer of my Atrix 4G. It was possible to merge Facebook and LinkeIn contacts with regular ones

I'm trying to remember what I did to fix the issues the others were having where they could not control phone calls, I too had that issue at first. That is what is going on here I believe. I had purchased exDialer, so I switched from "Phone" default to "exDialer" and then back again and then it started to behave correctly. I think you can get exDialer free on on trial. I use both dialers. I have a shortcut on the desktop to exDialer but the dialer takes over during a incoming or outgoing phone call. Hope that helps.

Set as default once again. I had the same, already set. But after setting it again it started working properly.
And I've granted all permissions, just in case (though MM will ask you).

That's exactly what I went in and did. Totally worked. Sorry I forgot to come back in and update my comment.

Works fine here. (ZephyrOS 7.0)
Guys, change a Phone to default app and charge all permissions.

And how do you find new Dialer? I think small size caller picture is not so cool...

Works like a charm. Don't forget to set default app to calls.
Thanks!

New update!
Changelog: Updated to the latest version of Google dialer (6.0.136097483), only works on Android 7.1+

I am very happy finding this thread. Google Caller is what I was looking for for so long.
After flashing, almost everything works fine, however there is one very very big issue that when receive call (incoming call), I can't not hear anything and the one who call also not hear anything.
Note: Tried with built-in speaker, loud speaker, as well as head-phone, nothing works.
Can anyone help please.
Update: Re-flashing help solve the issue.

Is there any way to revert?

New Market 3.1.3 (3.1.5 is up now too)

Edit, as of October 3, I'd suggest holding off on the 3.1.6 Market update. Could be fishy. It's signed differently than Google does. Mine below are fine.
EDIT: The new market is cool and all, but I have noticed that if I have multiple google accounts, it switches back and forth... which is REALLY annoying. If you notice issues, go to menu > accounts and make sure your primary is selected. Other than this, it is great.
EDIT 2: there is now a 3.1.5 - the bug mentioned above still exists
DOWNLOAD LINK FOR 3.1.5
If you had 3.1.3, it may just auto-update for you.
---------- below is older information for 3.1.3 --------------
You can thank @MastaTM (XDA: Official_Master) for the new Market (3.1.3)
http://www.multiupload.com/41FQ6PQ3MS
The below is litterally pasted from androidpolice (again, they are on point). I bolded what is new.
Wow, Google is on a roll with the Android Market lately. Since the release of Market v3.0, a number of small updates have come to the Android Market recently, but this is by far the biggest yet. Google has added the long-awaited +1 functionality to the Android Market (which has been on the web version of the Market for quite some time), along with a few other goodies.
There's a brand-new settings menu, as well as click-to-read explanations of app permissions (not developer customizable, unfortunately).
There are also 2 brand-new Market icons to spruce things up a bit (within the Market itself - unfortunately, the app drawer icon is still the same).
For convenience's sake, the size in megabytes of each app, along with its latest update date, have been moved from the bottom of descriptions to the top of individual app pages, which is a very useful change in our book.
Moving on to the thumbnail navigator, Google added a long-overdue sliding transition - a nice touch that makes the Market feel more polished.
Oh, and did we mention you can now use an optional custom PIN for purchases on your phone, instead of leaving your Google Checkout wide open for anyone that picks up your device? If you have kids, or your phone is stolen, this is one awesome feature to have - and really, it makes a lot of sense.
You'll need Unknown Sources enabled in the Settings -> Applications menu to install it.

Ha ha, I went ahead and installed it anyway, and it pretty much looks the same as the last one, except there are finally options to turn off update notifications, AND now all the apps that were showing as update available, but didn't have an update, are finally gone. This is an excellent update. Thanks for the find!

Installing Android Market APK
Could use a little help here. Put a new ROM on my wife's phone, but for some reason, it doesn't have the Market on it. Every time I download the APK for the Market though, it asks me if I want to assign an account to it, which I choose Yes, and then it closes. I'm going to keep working on it, but if anyone has any ideas, please help!

Can you upload it? I did not know there was an update. Curious if it fixes the account switching bug in .3.
EDIT: nevermind... it does not fix the bug.
thank you, this new is better ;D
2.xx is better. 3.xx is too slow and laggy
Someone in the General apps forum uploaded what they claim is version 3.1.6. I pushed it into system/app and over wrote vending.apk but I still have version 3.1.5. Others are reporting success, though. Saying it looks a little more polished.
Edit: Removed link due to suspicious nature of this "update". Search it out and install it on your own, but I've restored my nandroid backup and am done with it until more is known about it.

Google Now == No Bluetooth Voice Dialing

I can't believe how many Developers are blindly adding this stupid Google Now and breaking bluetooth Voice Dialing.
It has nothing to do with how well it was Ported from Jelly Bean.
Google Now breaks bluetooth Voice Dialing.
Please developers make it an option to add it, an option to Remove it or release two flavors with and without.
You are killing a lot of folks that feel bluetooth voice dialup is a mandatory function and renders the phone useless.
Even some Jelly Bean Nexus users are wishing they never took the Jelly Bean update.
Here is a bug filed on Google Now
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=35199
This is a known bug, either uninstall the app yourself or deal with it.

I don't think you can just uninstall it.
Otherwise I would.
Things are rewired and need to be rewired back.
Some files include other mods as well.
I have tried.
FYI, you can get Bluetooth Voice Dialing back by going into
Settings->Apps->All->Google search->and DISABLE.
You will lose all Google Now features but at least you can get Voice Dial back over a Bluetooth Headset.

What's your problem. DB13 didn't know the answer and obviously you don't either.
Not sure what ROMs your running. But on some ROMs that Disable feature is greyed out.
On MikLate Rename System/App/Velvet.Apk to System/App/Velvet.Apk_OFF
On superLTE Rename System/App/GoogleNow.Apk to System/App/GoogleNow.Apk_OFF
On MeanROM the Disable works.
And for the Record I think GoogleNow is using up battery too.

SuperLTE is considering removing it and making it optional for similar reasons.
Mikey has made newer releases to help with Google Now battery life.
I think my hunch is correct.
I've moved back to MeanRom 2.1 since the wave of Google Now ROMs while you guys beta test it

Yea except 2.9 was before the release that "improved battery life" version. Still 19 hours w/25% left, with medium/heavy usage. Oh yea I forgot, thats terrible battery life.
Mean 2.6 and higher have been nothing but butter, so not really sure what there is to beta test..
If you want to get rid of google now go to this thread and flash the zip under 'back to stock' then uninstall and reinstall 'talkback' from the market and bluetooth dialing and voice search will work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29756226
Edit: I'm running Bad Seed Customs Tranquility RLS1b and its baked in right now but in the next build it will be removed and made an add-on option. Super smooth Rom with lots of options and great battery life, definitely worth a spin.

Here's a link to a thread that might work as a temporary solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883895
It says to convert Google Now from a system app to a user app and then it will allow us to use a 3rd party voice dial app without disabling Google Now (Google search app) at all. I tried it on LiquidSmooth jb Galaxy S3 rom and it did let me choose which ever voice dialing app I wanted, but then I had troubles getting the 3rd party apps to use my bluetooth mic over my phone mic. I ended up using the app "Voice Control Full" for $1.99 because it had the option to force sound to a bluetooth device.

This was a pain in my ass too which is why I came snooping around the threads. I have mean ROM and let me tell you that google lady can't tell a phone number from a hole in the ground. My workaround for now is that I just put the voice dialer icon on the first screen and while I have to touch the icon on the screen to activate the dialer, it lets me use my bluetooth headset to speak the name. I didn't want to uninstall google now, because i like the functionality. So hopefully one of these days they'll push out an update that addresses this issue.

Really nice so far. Theme engine is flawless so far and opened browser up for first time and it logged me right in almost instantly. Have had issues with that since first lollipop build went out.
I can't use any third party browser all the ones I try won't open they fail with weird errors.
Testing update
Everything seems pretty solid for a first build. I went from the 3-25 build of 5.0.2. To Pac roms the last couple days. To clean slate and fresh install this morning. Only thing i have is still no Netflix. Have tried uninstalling and a reboot. Install and a couple reboots. And there is no mute on calls. Which by no means are deal breakers for me. Also GPS is a little off however finds location pretty quickly. I use my LTE connection for all my net use. I average around 250-350gb per month so a daily driver is a must for me. Thanks for your hard work on this Wilson.
On a side note. I don't see the thanks button anymore. Am i missing something.

You can get a logcat for me to trace...It could be due to the same libc issue. Sorry no netflix in my country.
Other than Chrome force-closing, this seems to running well for me. My last week or two of 5.0 nightlies gave me a lot of trouble connecting to my home wifi, but this is not an issue here. I did wipe clean for this, whereas I was dirty flashing 5.0, so maybe that has something to do with it.
EDIT: Not sure if this would be ROM related, but I do not have an option within either of my Google accounts to synchronize my calendar. I can synchronize Gmail, App Data, Contacts, People, and Fit data, but that's all. I do not even have a greyed out option for calendar; it's simply not there.

Confirmed. 4/2 build is flawless. Everything works. FCS are gone. Other than missing MUTE in call everything is pristine.
Thank you!
I'm Going to have to give this another go. I reverted back to Alliance build 30 because of not receiving calls all of the time on a lot of the lollipop builds. And it is hit or miss as to weather I would receive a call and not rom specific.

Anyone have issues with "Ok Google" responding when the phone is locked?

I had a Verizon version of the V30 a couple weeks and it worked fine with "Ok Google" answering me regardless of whether the screen was on/off/locked/unlocked/charging/etc.
I switched to T-Mobile and bought a TMO version of the V30. It is not responding to "Ok Google" commands UNLESS the screen is on (locked or not). It won't work even if the phone is charging.
I've set up trusted voice (and tried deleting and retraining many times). I've even clear the cache on the Google Now/Assistant app and haven't had any luck.

It's working fine on mine from off and locked to open and ready. Edit to add that I have the Tmo version.
Good to know it's not just with the TMO version.
I've tried clearing the data and uninstalling the update for the Google app. No luck.
I also even tried turning on LG's built in voice recognition that is suppose to to unlock the phone and it won't even let me set it up:
I guess my next set is to do a factory wipe of the the phone and try and start all over.

Are you using Battery Saver mode?
OK Google won't work when Battery Saver is on.
That's the only thing I can think of to attempt to help you. :/

Mine is the Tmo version. Did you do any of the disabling stuff? That seems to have caused a lot of trouble for people.

The reason the LG Voice Unlock is giving you the mic error is because Google is still selected under the trust agent settings, so the mic is listening for OK Google when you are trying to record. If you unselect Google from the trust agents the LG Voice Unlock will work.
I'm having the same issue as you in that I can't get OK Google to work with the screen off (it works fine on the lock screen when the screen is lit), and I tested this to see if it may have been a hardware issue. The only thing I can think of at this point is that it is some software issue with the Google app that will hopefully get fixed in an update.

I did uninstall all the apps I thought were bloatware that it would let me. I disabled a few things too that I couldn't uninstall but have since re-enabled most (Duo and Facebook App Manager are still disabled) and it still won't work.
I've also tried most of the things suggested in this thread I found: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/websearch/ImhgT8BXboE;context-place=topicsearchin/websearch/category$3Aandroid

If I can't get it to work in the next few days I'm taking it back to TMO for a warranty exchange. Hopefully it's not all for naught and I have to waste time setting up a new one only to have the exact same problem.

Doesn't work for me - if others want to try you can sign up here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
on 131 and still have the options greyed out even when updated to the beta version and rebooted.
Well done Huawei!

Working ONLY if you press O button without OK GOOGLE or Hey google

What did you change to/from?
I can get it to the point where it starts to select voice match by switching to another version of English (US rather than UK), but it then fails and greys out the option again. No sign of an update for us C782 users either - not even a firmware listed in the pipeline on Firmware Finder....

Same happend to me. Once you change the language you need to go to settings --> appl --> google and delete the cache and memory. Return to google now and start over. Using English (US) it is working for me.

That seems to have worked finally for me - so the firmware for UK only phones requires English US language and I have to listen to my phone talk to me in an American accent - hurrah!
Maybe Huawei will get round to fixing it in their next update in about October

In fact, I think it is a google problem. I have already reported it.
And in my case, I am from Argentina, I live in Colombia and my phone speaks spanish (spain) so...
Anyone else still having this issue? On my Mate 10 Pro, I switched from English (Australia) to US, cleared catch and tried enabling Voice Match again. It got to the screen where it said You are already setup for voice match. When I click Continue, I get a blank screen and get redirected to the first page of voice match setup. By then, the option for Voice Match is again disabled.

I suspect the 139 update did that for me. Fairly certain that atleast with screen on Ok Google worked before. I have only had the phone a few days.

I am in the beta program but no luck. I managed to turn voice match on once after a combination of steps but it switched itself off again.
U should be in and out, this way u have to install the app again
Ok Google issue seems finally solved
I have the Asia Version of Mate 10 Pro dual sim (C636), finally after installing the latest OTA update yesterday (8.0.0.141), vocal command of Google assistant came back to normal after 3 months black out. Finally can be vocally activated from home screen without tapping the command; only the first time need to be activated manually to set up the voice command.

it also works for the non-Pro, the phone responds but if you have the security features enabled, it'll still require you to unlock the phone.
