I had the Moto 360 V2, but I sold it and bought the sport instead. I like the gps-feauture and I think it looks better.
On my V2 there was a "Permissions" option under Settings. On my 360 sport, there is no such menu item. I suspect that my 360 doesn't have the latest update, but I have reset it several times, but it always says that it is up to date. The option to reset is also called "Factory reset" on my watch. On my V2 I think it was "Unpair with phone".
My firmware is 5.1.1, LCB27
If there is an update, how can I get it?
The 360 sport has a different display, additional clock faces, and GPS -- the firmware is bound to be different based on the hardware.

I have a Zenwatch 2, no update in site. HOWEVER, I had recently bought my wife a Zenwatch 3.
Last night (7/13/17) she said her watch reset all by itself while charging on her night stand. She said something was wrong with it.
Upon looking at her watch, I noticed right away the watch was running AW 2.0
Versions
Asus Zenwatch 3
Android Wear 2.0.0.161536191
Google Play Services 11.0.55 (534-156917137)
Android OS 7.1.1
Security Patch June 1, 2017
"Something wrong with it" turned out to be the new style of notifications. Instead of a card that peaks up when she gets a Facebook message, it's a chat bubble now. I haven't found a way to display the notifications in ambient mode yet on AW 2.0
Hopefully us ZW2 users will have the update before the end of the month!
I had found this way on YouTube, a couple of months ago. A guy tried to force update AW 2.0 on his Moto 360 v2.
So I also tried to do this force when I saw a guy (from US) posting pics of his Moto 360 Sport updated to AW 2.0
Since I am not in US right now, I was not getting updates normally.
So what I did is:
1. Goto settings > About > System Updates
2. Tap and tap repeatedly on the "System is up to date" screen
3. Finally get a message to continue with update
4. Keep your device on charge when prompted
This hack might get failed in the middle, many-a-times
Don't give up. Just continue the loop if the update fails.
Good Luck

Not to sound rude, but this is on several different threads already. Also, you forgot to mention that enabling the Dev options and enabling always on screen while charging is a great idea while updating
I frequently flash ROMs, or even get new hardware all together and am annoyed with having to factory reset my watch every time.
Found some 3rd party apps that supposedly help, but they don't even show in my launcher.
Do I need root on my watch? If so, how?
If not, what is working for others?
Just noticed my watch is downloading a system update, ut has paused as battery is too low, I am already on the December Patch, is this just a security patch or something else?
Wear OS 1.0 with the February security patch.
I look on the internet and see it keeps saying the lg watch style having the Wear OS 2.0. I look at my watch and it is the Wear OS 1.0. I see listed above Oytsejam1138 mention Wear OS 1.0 with the February security patch. It is bragged about how 2.0 is so much better, that it is such a leap forward. So anyone knows with the situation is? I see they sell them with 2.0, at least that is what I believe I am reading.
Another question but a change of topic. I have the lg g4 h811 phone and the lg watch style. I can use my phone to add to the grocery list or my other lists but the watch cannot through the Google assistant interface. On my watch I have to open the "Keep" app. and choose the list I want to add something to then hit + and one by one add to the list. That is so slow. I grab my phone and say "Ok Google, add to my XXXXX list" and is asks what I want to add. I say something, the app. asks "what else" and I go on from there until I tell it I am done. The question is, shouldn't my watch be able to do that? On my watch I can say, "note to self". My watch (typed text) asks me what I want inside the note to be. I tell it and it saves it in the "Keep" app. I can see them when I open my "keep" app on my watch or phone.
Change of topic again. (I should really make different posts and not compile all this here). Suddenly my watch has started to something. When I open the "Keep" app. it starts to sink and it never stops until I close it and randomly when I reopen it right back up again it is all synced up. Lots of times it never syncs.
Yeah, I'm also wondering about wear 2.0. Just got this along with a Huawei Watch 2 Classic, and I cannot get the watch to update to wear 2.0, event though it says everywhere it is supposed to have it.
I contacted technical and they said to first go into settings of the watch and do an update. I went into Setting./ system / about then chose update. The next step they said in the software in your phone OS to disconnect your watch. Now the next step really did not make sense because they told me to factory reset my watch. Now uninstall the app from the phone and reinstall the latest version. Now lpair your watch with your phone and let the watch update.
My results were bad. My wach went back to when I first bought it and I had to reinstall everything I had on it again. Waste of time. Since than I see my watch updated to 1.1. I don't understand because no where does my watch tell me I am running 2.0... It says Wear OS by Google 1.1.
But it does have Home App 2.11.0. xxxx Are they trying to say the term Home App is the Wear OS? then what does the term Wear OS by Google mean.
Same here Wear 1.1, no updates to Wear 2.0
What the hell? Why is nobody talking about this? Well, except from us.
Edit: I think I figured it out. Wear OS reset and renamed Android Wear. So Wear OS 1.1 is the update to Android Wear 2.0. No?
I think your right. I looked at the Wear OS app on my phone and it shows that it is Wear OS 2.11.0.XXXXX and on my phone that version number matches the information given by my watch as: Home App 2.11.0.xxxxxx. I think the watch Home App is the same as saying Wear OS. and our Wear OS on the watch is what you said, version 1.1 is the same as Wear OS 2.1.0.XXXX. I think our watches are up to date. The terminology is screwy. The watch titles one way and the phone app title's the same thing a different way.
On the watch: Home app 2.11.0.xxx
On the phone: Wear OS 2.11.0.xxx
On our watch: Wear OS 1.1
I decided to change the watch face for the first time in quite some time today and....nothing! When I to to watch face settings the screen is blank with no options for either local or online watch faces, just a very faint lighthouse logo with 4 Chinese characters beneath it on the Online section.
My phone is running Nougat and the app was updated to the latest version. The bip has undergone its updates. The only thing that has changed is my location, I'm currently in South Africa, but I cant see that being an issue, or am I missing something?
I tried unistalling the app but it hasnt changed anything. What do you guys suggest?
Exact same problem here. Sony Xperia XZs and Android Oreo 8.0.
EDIT: For a fraction of a second, just before the chinese characters show up, it says "Couldn't get data" or something similar.
Just use the GadgetBridge method, this still works.

It suddenly started working by itself. I did nothing.
This is very strange, since we have two Bip watches on two different phones and the other one was always working just fine.
