I'm unable to install/uninstall or update my apps with google play. Uninstalling Google Play updates doesn't work either. Rebooting doesn't help. Reset my phone to factory defaults once, but after a while the problem cropped up again. Not sure if it has anything to do with some of the apps I've installed.
Another issue that maybe connected to the first one is that when i go into an individual app info, it says computing and nothing happens, no info no matter how long I wait.
Issue #3: The developer options are not accessible. When I press the Developer options, I just get a black screen and after a while it says Settings are not responding.
It's safe to say I really hate this phone's guts. I've had nothing but trouble with it. It's slower than molasses, and I've never installed a lot of apps on it, no cracked apps either, just highly rated free apps and paid apps. It does have a great screen. That's all good I can say about this beta phone. I can't wait to upgrade Note 2.
I'm on the stock rom 4.0.4
Any ideas, other than resetting it yet one more time?
Thanks!
This one is a weird one. I have not experienced this before.
My wife's HTC One X unrooted, factory unlocked from oversees, still under warranty. Latest JB available (stock).
Just the other day I went to clean up some of her redundant apps that I installed on her phone. All apps were from legitimate sources, Google Play.
Problem 1. I could not uninstall any app. The device would get quite warm, actually very warm. I would do a hard boot and sometimes I would then be able to uninstall the app, most other times no. I even have uninstaller apps and I tried using them and the app would go through the motions. it would seemingly uninstall the apps but it really didn't . On the times it would uninstall apps (it doesn't matter which app or how large or small) it often would take a long time.
Problem 2: Downloading apps from GP. I might be able to get away with downloading one app and installing it. However, most of the time GP would be stuck in "downloading', Again, if I do a hard reboot or even soft reboot, sometimes the download would start and you would see the small tray and down arrow. Most of the times, not. What is odd about this is that if I go to Google Play via desktop and remotely tell GP to install a particular app, it usually does without issue on the device.
Problem 3. I did a factory restore and after a few apps everything was ok. but problem would then develop again. I repeated the process to narrow down which app may be causing issue but I haven't been able to do so. Then, I did a hard reboot again and then the download would be very slow to start, several minutes then it would start up normally. I tried uninstalling an app and it too took a long time initially and then it was ok. However, in between this all, it was not. Even when going to SETTINGS, APPS, seeing info on the app (cache size, etc) would take a very very long time to populate.
The wife has her phone with her today at work, but for now it is operating as it should. However, I am very confident it will return to the way it was.
Does any one know what could be going on? Is this a s/w issue or hardware issue? Is there any way to test to see if the flash drive has bad sectors or is somehow damaged? Perhaps the HTC needs a brand new re-flash to the original ROM ?
Hi, do you know when you either 1st get a phone or do a hard reset, you get all of them screens to set up the device and create accounts etc...
Well, is there any way of making the phone run though them on the next boot without a hard reset?
Reason I ask is, I have bought a sii for my wife for Christmas and I have rooted it and removed the bloatware and updated things then removed the account I used to access the play store.
I know what she is like with phones and I know that it would also look like new if it greeted her with the welcome screens etc.
I don't want to hard reset as I will be back to square 1.
Thanks in advance.
Chiller.
I think clearing data of an app like "firsttimeinit" or "googlesetup" or something like that could do it, search the apps in the phone and try to find the app that does the setup and clear its data.
Hello!
I've recently purchased what I thought was a feature phone with long battery life, the Vodafone Smart A9 (VFD 120) for the purpose of putting my "home" SIM card in while I travel. Surprisingly, this phone actually runs Android! Albeit a very locked down version of Android without Google Play Services. In hindsight I probably should've purchased a different cheap phone and turned off data and location to get a similarly long battery life, at the time the price of $49NZD ($32USD) didn't seem like a bad idea. For the sake of interest I decided to try and sideload an application onto this phone, it seems like a decent companion to take hiking as I lost my last phone off the side of a mountain.
I've tried a few things to sideload an app or gain some sort of privileged access to the phone. I haven't really been up to date with the Android Hacking/Dev scene in a good while as my personal need to root has diminished greatly in the last few years.
Things I've tried:
Enable ADB in Developer Mode by pressing Build Version a bunch of times. Unfortunately pressing Build Version does nothing.
Look for settings to enable applications from other sources. This doesn't exist in the security settings.
Tried installing an app from the file manager. This doesn't work either.
Boot into recovery to do "anything". The phone shows up in ADB as "Unauthorised". There aren't any settings except a bunch of hardware tests and factory reset.
The device only has OTA updates but I imagine that even if I grab the file and spoof the download URL with a modified ROM, it wouldn't pass a hash/signature check.
Is there anything else I could realistically try? I'd just like to know if I've missed anything glaringly obvious.
Thanks for taking a look at my post!
phone is now 13nzd from harvy norman did you ever work out a way to load apps
If Android device is Wi-Fi enabled and has browser installed, you at any time can install an app from one of the several existing app markets: Google Play Store isn't the only one though it's highly recommended to use it due to security reasons.
Hi I was wondering if You could tell me how to boot into Recovery mode for this phone.
Hello all, for quite some time now I had some issues with the camera that I didn't care about but it's getting more and more frustrating. Maybe some of you had this issues and found a fix that can help me also...
Around the time that I got the android 10 update in January, each time I try to take a photo, the first photo since I open the camera app, the app freezes for some seconds and it disconnects my watch from the phone... I thought it might be a Samsung issue since I use the Galaxy watch plugin to connect the watch to the phone. Later on I discovered that the camera app actually disconnects all bluetooth devices when it takes the first picture, I had my wf-1000xm3 connected to my phone and listening to some music and tried to take a photo... It disconnected my watch, my headphones, everything. There are times when it fails to focus, the app freezes and it crashes afterwards...
The second issue is with the video recording. I don't usually do a lot of video recordings with the camera app(did some with the cinealta app with no issues) so I didn't notice this until yesterday. When I try to record a video 9 times out of 10 the app freezes and crashes.
I reseted the app, erased the data, don't know what to do more.
Any thoughts?

personally with each update I make a new reinstallation which allows like on any devices to limit a lot of problems and the update in January allowed me to solve the camera problems. I can only advise you to reinstall the software with Xperia companion or new Flasher but not from the settings of the smartphone which is a completely different method

Thanks for the reply, I will try to reinstall the software via the Xperia Companion, will have to get home for that... I use linux for most of the time.
If for every update I have to manually do this via some software on a computer I feel like I traveled back in time 15 years, I will gladly dispose of this phone...

it is not necessary to do it all the time for example in the case of small security updates. But when migrating to a major version or large patches it is preferable. For example for my pc for big updates I always do it from an iso it prevents a problem from growing in case there are corrupt system files

Ok, I've installed Xperia Companion on macOS, I have the option to software repair but it says that it completely resets my device. The backup option is disabled since 2019 and the only backup that I can do is to manually copy all the files from the phone to the computer....
If I get this right is that there is no way of completely back-up the phone? Settings, alarms, apps etc.? Is there a way to do this?
I don't want to start putting everything back manually.

I have never encountered problems with everything given parameters (wifi Key, screen, alarms ...) are saved, SMS, contact, calls, same for applications but it supports Google backup all applications do are not compatible. Same for the passwords and identifiers of the applications but you must have accepted the popup google lock when it appeared for the first time. To see if there is a backup look in settings> system> backup. after the restoring of the data obviously depends on the speed of your internet connection. By cons, all that is banking applications do not have backup (a security issue)
Google synchronisation can save a lot of your parameters, message, app and some app settings. I did a manual synchro on the google account just to be sure before doing a factory reset, also be sure to save your launcher settings if you have a custom one (forgot about this one and got a back up from july -_-). Check if your messaging apps need a manual backup or if it can be done via Clouds. Of course, you can't be sure everything will be the same.
You need to manually save your media of course, photo, video and documents, if they are not uploaded on some clouds.
My Camera app is laggy and its getting more annoying by the day :|. I have tried to clear cache of app and also cleared storage with no luck. My next course of action is to do a factory reset but I don't want to do that if this will not solve the issue. Anyone with a factory reset and solved camera issues? Running Customized NOBA and 55.1.A.3.149-R5B.
Is NOBA a custom rom? Maybe that's what mess up with your stock app?
NOBA is stock Norway firmware
Ho, ok. So maybe a factory reset can be the solution. Otherwise, try to reach the support. But they will probably ask to try a factory reset first.
