Hello,
When i open up the app: Technique.
It has a builtin camera app and won't give me a prompt to choose the stock camera for example.
Is it possible to change this so that when i open the Technique camera it shows an external camera.
by external camera i mean an USB Camera.
so i can record from the USB Camera and not the device's hardware camera.

I have Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. and have not rooted (and don't intend to do so). I decided to buy Camera Zoom FX apps (was on sale). I think it's better (though a bit slow at times) and more versatile. I wanted to make it my default camera app and there was on option for that in the app's settings. However, when I try to quick access the camera via lock screen by tapping and rotating, the stock camera app is opened. Doesn't this mean that the default camera app is still the stock camera app?
I've tried to solve this issue by reading the forums. Some people are saying that after I have selected Camera Zoom FX as default camera app in the app's settings, Jelly Bean should ask me to select the default camera app when I open the camera app. It does not do so. The other solution mentioned was to go Settings -> Application Manager -> All and the choose the camera app and tap "Clear defaults". However, this option is greyed out/disabled and cannot be tapped.
Could this all mean that without rooting Jelly Bean does not give the user the option to change the default camera app?
Help would be appreciated.
you might try this

i dont know this might work or not but you could try disabling the default camera from settings>apps>all apps> camera>force stop and then disable
since you phone isnt rooted this only the best which you could do
I suggest you put the Camera Zoom Fx on you lockscreen and launch it directly from there. Samsungs hold-rotate feature is a sure fire way of eventually dropping your phone.
I have 3 cameras on my lockscreen. Stock, Camera FV-5 and HDR Pro.
My current situation is that I have a phone with 2 camera apps on it, stock and camera FV-5.
Camera FV-5 is slower than the stock camera, so I only use it in situations which I need manual control.
Whenever I open whatsapp and try to send a photo, the app asks me which camera I want to use, with no option to always use stock. I don't want camera FV-5 to exist as an option, as I will open it if I want to use it.
Is there a way to remove an app from the list so that my phone does not recognise camera FV-5 as a camera?
Thanks
George

The problem with whatsapp is that there is no 'always' option when selecting an app.

my last solution, you have to disable(not uninstall) camera FV-5 from setting menu, if you running on android 4.0/up
from menu, choose setting>applications>camera FV-5, klik force stop then disable it, and you want to use it again, just enable it again, don't worry about the data you have been saved on camera FV-5, you won't lose it..
Not what I'm looking for, but thanks a lot for your reply
You have to use other camera apps other than snap camera for this... I used open camera..
1. Add this to your build.prop 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1' (no quotes)
2. Reboot
3. Install open camera (or other app) and record videos now
Don't enable the "use camera2 api" in open camera setting tho...
Hope this helps
Hi guys,
Just came across "Open Camera" app and love it. I am struggling to make it the default Camera App in my phone, so that when I press the Sony Side Camera button it opens the "Open Camera" instead of the stock Sony app. Also, once Open Camera is open, I would like to be able to use the side camera button as shutter, which currently does not work.
Possible? Any instructions on how to do it?
Thanks in advance!
I'm using open camera too and everything works after I froze the default camera app but I'm on RR, not stock. Are you rooted? If yes freeze the default camera using any root app manager. If not, check if you can disable the camera app using adb.
Also check if you have the option 'disabled apps' in developer settings. I can't recall if it exists on stock firmware.
Root and install some xposed modules like "xposed additions" or Music buttons.
Freeze the stock camera and remap the camera button
If i have an app which have its own camera feature to take picture, does not support insert picture from gallery. is it somehow possible that as i hit camera button in that app it opens gallery and not camera itself so that i can choose a pic from the gallery as freshly clicked?
