Hello all,
I have a Samsung S7 edge that recently got ran over by a golf cart (long story). The phone still makes noise however the screen is crushed and has no display. I have insurance so the phone is being replaced. My big issue is I have pictures of my kids on there I really do not want to lose. I have researched and researched and cannot find a way to get into the phone. If I plug it in via usb it starts charging and shows up in windows however without having access to the screen I cannot enable file sharing. Is there any way to recover my photos? My wife is going to lose it if I cant get them back and trust me, no one wants that (especially me).
I appreciate any help....
This is for Samsung Galaxy
visit this site: http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/find-my-mobile/
Log in and unlock your screen remotely, click this and when the progress bar filled it will say 'your phone is now unlocked'.
Connect with your USB Cable and Kies will allow you access to your files.
Hope this will help!
Thanks for the response. This is one of the many things I have tried. Unfortunately I never registered my phone with Samsung and since I cant access the screen I cannot set it up.
New phone comes tomorrow and I have to send the old one back. Anyone have any ideas? I'm really at a loss here...

Hello everyone,
first-timer, so I hope I won't screw up!
My Samsung Galaxy SII I9100 is broken. And I don't just mean the screen (which is what I found threads on aplenty on here), I mean really broken.
It won't turn on at all. No Recovery/Download-mode, either. The only reaction it shows at all is when I plug it into a computer via USB, the area around the camera starts heating up slightly. That's it.
The last thing I did with it was visiting facebook when my phone froze up, I turned it off and it didn't start back again. It might have been exposed to a certain high temperature from the sun when I had it in my pocket but it's unlikely it reached any temperature above 40°C/104°F.
I was running the latest Cyanogen Mod 9 for SGSII.
Anyway, this thread is less about trying to find a fix for my phone (though if you can help me with that –*cool) but instead I'd like to know if there's a way to recover the data on my phone. That includes photos and music, possibly contacts, messages and Whatsapp-content.
If there is any way to do that, no matter what, I'd like to hear about it. I'm thinking about sending it in to get it repaired but before I do, I'd like to hear about my other options.
Thank you very much in advance.
Almost zero chance. The fix is replacing the motherboard, which has the internal storage on it. A company that specialises in recovery of data from dead HDD's might (but it's a very remote chance, and expect it to be very expensive if it is possible) be able to help, but you really don't have any options (shoulda/coulda/woulda backed it up).

Figured as much... I guess I'll cross my fingers when I send the little bastard in for repair/data-recovery.
I did a back-up on a whim some months ago so at least some stuff is saved but I got some new data on it since then, so that would have been nice.
Anyway, thank you very much. I just ordered a USB-jig as a last resort but I'm not having high hopes.
My son recently passed away and I've been trying get help with getting his information off his phone. Unfortunately, he had a lock on it and I cannot bypass it. No one knew his password for his email either. There are pictures in there that I know would be precious to me. I've had a coworker try and help me but he says it's hard on his phone because the memory card is internal. He has already tried to plug it into a computer but he said the debug mode is not on so he can't do much. I really don't want to lose his pictures . Any advice would be greatly recommended. Thank you
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which I unceremoniously dropped from my motorbike while traveling on a busy road. Remarkably, but for the screen, the phone is still working. It still rings when called, I hear the notification sound for SMS's and emails and it appears as a removable drive when I plug it into my computer, but unfortunately I can't read the texts or see who's called. I'm waiting for a new phone to be delivered so don't want to bother repairing this one but would like to still be able to use it while connected to a computer, or at the very least see who's been trying to call and message. I can only assume I must have had USB Debugging disabled at the time the phone was dropped. I'm currently trying to workout if there is a way to flash a ROM that will enable USB Debugging and have seen that ODEN would be capable of flashing but I'm not sure if I can enable Debugging that way, or if it will destroy the information I'm seeking in the process.
I have also read you can get USB->HDMI cables for the S3 and then potentially provide input through a USB mouse but I don't want to have to buy such hardware just to enable the option. I also can't find anyone else with an S3 that would be willing to let me put my board in there phone to enable the option. I've been working on this for two days now and can't work out what to do. I really would appreciate it if someone knows a way I can resolve this.
Thanks.
Hello,
So a couple of days ago i shattered my whole screen , i cant see anything on it . I am trying to back up all my stuff before i switch phones.
Here are a couple of facts/problems :
1) I have a lock screen enable.
2) Phone is not rooted and has the latest update .
3) USB debugging is not enabled
Basically i tried mirroring the phone to my computer but no luck since i cant enable adb ( usb debugging not on )
Bought a cable to try and unlock my phone but no luck cant even see where the mouse is even when having a simple lock screen.
Now i read online i can push a kernel with adb enabled, and thats where i'm really confused , if anyone has any ideas how to do that , that ll be awesome.
Also i had another idea of connecting my phone to my S3 phones screen , not sure if its the same pins inside or the resolution will work .
Any input on the subject matter would be awesome.
Thank you
Bump
Why don't you just get phone fixed so you can use it again?
What I mean is switch to another phone for time being send it out to get fixed and when it comes back then you can get what you want off if it.
That's what I would do depending on what's on it I would want. I know the s4 is getting out dated but it's still a good phone. I've got 3 of them lol
I bricked mine 2 times sent it out and it came back fixed.
It looks expensive to fix but videos don't look hard to do...

I agree, fix the phone first.
I bought the digitizer, but ended up making it worse and breaking the screen trying to replace the digitizer (to much head with a professional grade heat gun) . I had to spend another $120 for a new screen assembly, all you do is gut your old phone and swap it out to the new screen assembly. I got the screen kit on amazon.

Hi everyone! Really need help or a better understanding PLEASE!
Read everything, no rude remarks!
So i THINK my firmware/kernel was changed/edited? Lol If that makes ANY sense?
So I have a Galaxy S8 bought from Cricket but is unlocked now & is NOT or NEVER been rooted.
My roommate works for a company who supplies a phone (exact phone as mine but Verizon, mines on Sprint now.) Roommate told me he could be tracked threw his work phone & work laptop so everything is seen by the company? Creepy but understandable for work. They can even remotely charge his work cell! Seen with my own eyes! Crazy cool.
Anyway.. I just recently noticed my phone settings have bee changing, adaptive brightness enables, NFC enables, & wifi extra choppy to name a few. I also get a VERY low on-call volume, have missing files&pics, startup encryption disabled on multiple occasions which is B.S!! And I see sites in my history that were visited but i hadnt been on em!
It all started when my phone factory reset on its own, sitting right next to me!
**Theres also apps that Ive NEVER seen like a Verizon cloud/acct & Tmobile app. (Is this due to me unlocking the network?) But they weren't there before! My ex husband has a Tmobile Note 5 &My roommate a Verizon s8 &yes they know each other.
**My call log online shows calls were originated by my number &some by my contacts like my mom, the roommate, &friends to the number> 62450000000111 WTF is that about? Sprint was no help!
*My phone was on Cricket for 2yrs &once unlocked, I switched to Sprint.
And yea I did a factory reset via settings and but no change. So i did one via recovery mode but phone is still acting strange.
Im new to this so bare with me!
After some research I downloaded the Termux app &installed a Ubuntu distro. Upon using a command promt I get "mount /proc" followed by the command promt that I need to type in &when I tried I get "Permission Denied" &something about a missing fstab directory?
I have root access via Ubuntu but *NOT a Rooted phone
Another thing.. i did set up a vnc server & while i was going through files (I made NO changes) i would lose permissions as if someone was changing the permissions while i was looking around. After that ONE time i was unable to reconnect to the vnc viewer! So frustrating!
I just want to be sure my roommate didnt mess with my phone its really creepin me out! I'm afraid to use my phone or even take pics of my kid!
I read online to reflash the firmware with Odin which should solve the issue, but *I DO NOT have a computer*
I found a SD Card which I believe belongs to my roommate.. when I put into my phone my LED turned Pink on boot up (usually blue) and took longer than normal but only does so with that specific SD card. Weird?
Lately my roommate makes remarks about hacking & makes comments about stuff i said or websites i brows when he wasnt even home. Really freaked out by it all. Anyone if u can help please!
***Will reflashing cause my carrier unlock to go away?
***Can anyone explain flashing/recovery/stock?
I apologize for this long post!
