LG G5 H850 on AT&T - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Just looking to see if people are using the H850 unlocked on AT&T.
According to everything I have seen people report that it doesn't support band 4 used by them. However Amazon, the official bootloader unlock thread, and GSM arena all report otherwise.
I looked on GSM arena and the only missing bands seem to be 29(700) and 30(2300)
Just would like some first hand reports if the H850 works well on AT&T.
Thanks

LG G2 Tmo or ATT: Which has more bands?

Hello,
ATT user here currently on Note 2. I'm planning on buying G2 off contract and I'm debating between ATT and Tmo. Verizon is out because although it has SIM card it won't access LTE on GSM.
I understand that Tmo has all the bands ATT does and more, is that true? Would that explain why it's $600 on Tmo site and $580 on ATT? I looked at their respective wiki's and product page but they don't provide consistent descriptions. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated

I know the Moto X has more bands for Tmobile's version vs. AT&T. I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true for the LG G2 as well
From Wikipedia:
D800 ZNFD800 AT&T 850/1900/2100 LTE 2, 4, 5, 17
D801 ZNFD801 T-mobile 850/1700/1900/2100 LTE 2, 4, 17
TMO supports AWS, unlike AT&T. AT&T supports LTE band 5, unlike TMO.
this doesn't answer the OP's question, but, i have a sim unlocked att G2 and i can get 4G and 4G LTE service with my T-Mobile sim/account. coverage is not as good as at&t in my location.
Awesome, thanks Sacrosaint!
I went through the LTE wiki, it seems like 5 is not that prevalent. Seems like the Bahamas, South Korea, Belize...it seems to me that Tmo would be the better choice, no? What with its use of the AWS spectrum and all. I'm still on ATT for another year so I won't be jumping ship yet (by then I guess the G3 would be out...)
The only concern is whether ATT's LTE-A frequency can be grabbed by the Tmo version, whenever it launches...

I tried att lg g2 with my tmobile SIM it never gave me 4g/lte returned it back and got the new one from tmobile. Everything Is working fine on att I could only get 2g/edge and that is a known prob the att lg g2 does not have 1700 aws band for tmobile.

Not sure of the truth to that. Verizon, T-mobile, and At&t all support LTE band 4 which is AWS 1700. It might be more likely a carrier lock that prevents you from getting full coverage?

LTE band 4 is AWS and supported by AT&T. The frequencies listed in the wiki are for 3G/UMTS coverage which AT&T doesn't support AWS.

I'm in AZ and actually purchased LG on day one that AT&T sold it. They did not want to sell out-right so I got a prepaid service and told them I would not activate until next month...Manager looked at me like I was a terrorist. Went outside and on my then GS4 went to an unlocker site and SIM UNLOCKED LG in about 25 mins. I tried two different APNs and one seems to be best as I have LTE mostly all over the valley!
SUMMERY
-Got phone before anyone else on TMObile
-Got phone at least $60+ cheaper W/taxes
-I can use the WIFI free hotspots of AT&T, always on the road...
-At work my LTE is 27-36mb down compared to 12on att co-workers, and Verizons 17MB on a different co-worker!
-At home my signal is a tiny bit spotty, oddly is only in my room ge 1-2 bars H+

Ah thank you for the clarification. So the Tmo version will get 3G coverage in areas the ATT version will not?
I called Tmo yesterday. They won't ask me a phone straight out, I have to buy a one month plan . Now I see why the prices on eBay are higher than the $600 listed. Just looking for a store that has the white model.

Oh I totally forgot about the wifi thing...is that an ATT service that works with our ATT plan, or will it know I'm using a Tmo phone and not let me connect? Not a big deal since I have 2 GB and always come under each month but itd be nice to have.

Well, since t-mobile's 3g/umts is predominantly on the AWS 1700 band, utilizing a t-mobile SIM on the at&t model will result in sparse coverage for 3g, short of roaming. I understand t-mobile has built out some of their 3g on 1900 as well so that would work for you. Based off of frequency support, I would say the t-mobile version is the better one to unlock and potentially use between at&t and t-mobile networks. LTE band 5 support doesn't buy you anything domestically.

Thank you everyone for your input . Guess Tmo it is.
Though...One wonders what their software support is like...I read that since they do wifi calling they're updates have to go through extra approval above and beyond the othercarriers because they have to deal with the FCC?

Here in the Bahamas we don't have LTE yet, but we're planning on covering the same spectrum as AT&T, bands as well.
no AT&T LTE on T-mo G2
I have an unlocked T-MO LG G2. I recently swithced to AT&T (which only benefit is greater coverage area bc HSPA+ is way slower than T-MO) however my phone is not showing 4G LTE only 4G. when i searched for networks the very first time it listed AT&T LTE but would not let me connect and now it doesn't even show up in the network search. Does the T-Mo variant block a certain frequency used for AT&T LTE ??

Incorrect. T-Mobile devices support ALL AT&T and T-Mobile bands, except LTE Band 5 (used by AT&T in a few rural areas). What's wrong is AT&T turns off LTE for non-AT&T devices. You have to call them up and give them the IMEI # of an AT&T-branded device (even if it's not yours and even if your SIM isn't in it/you don't plan on using it). They don't check after that.

T-Mobile

Was looking into the metallic blue One unlocked for use on tmobile since there aren't any color options on my carrier.
Obviously the two carriers use different bands so I wanted to confirm if I get an unlocked one I should be ok? Also if I purchase a locked ATT One is there any special method to unlock it besides a code or will I be required to root and unlock and s off and all of that?
I am currently in an active LTE area for tmobile which has been refarmed in some areas from E to HSPA+.
Outside city is mostly E coverage anyway.
So I'll be ok with getting just LTE or E only when. Outside the city. But from my understanding the ATT model is lacking the band for any refarmed HSPA area?
Thanks for the clarification.

Nothing special to unlock, stock rom, get code, enter and insert other carrier sim, done.

No - on both counts. Sprint is a CDMA network. No GSM phones - AT&T included - will work on Sprint.
Sprint uses an esn master list. If that phone isn't on it it can't be activated. (Only Sprint phones are on the list btw)

Yes. LG G2 and G Flex, HTC One (m7) and One Max, Moto X, Galaxy S4, Note 3 (if Sprint processes the international unlock first), and iPhone 4s and 5 can all be unlocked for GSM use

The unlock that Sprint does is not a true factory unlock, since the phone can only be used in other countries if they do it. All of the above phones can be truly factory unlocked for use with any GSM carrier in the world, even in the US. I wouldn't say the iPhones are free, and it's not technically a factory unlock. But for all the Android models, yes. You just need to have the tools and the knowledge. I run my own business doing software support for smartphones and tablets, and Sprint unlocking is something that I do lots of.

Can I carrier unlock this Moto E? (details included)

I'm considering buying a phone from textnow but I'm not sure whether I could unlock it so that I can use it on a different carrier. The website support and faq said that the software was made specifically for textnow services. Does that mean that the phone itself is uncompatible with other carriers or does that mean that it can be unlocked but I first have to get rid of the TextNow software that is installed on it?
The phone is Moto E (2nd Generation XT1526). It can be found on the text now website.

Flashing means changing something on the phone. In this case, you're going to replace TextNow's software with Boost's software.
What model is it? There are a lot of Moto E's in the wild, all edited and distributed by different carriers. We need to know the exact model before we can tell if the bootloader is unlockable, which is the first step in flashing something.

It is a XT1526.
OS
Android 5.1 (Lollipop)
Processor
Quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 400MHz graphics processor
Network
LTE: Band 2 (1900MHz), 4 (1700/2100MHz), 5 (850MHz), 26 (850MHz), 41 (2500MHz)
CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev A, 800/850/1900MHz
GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
I have a text now moto e 1526. I'm now using it with a stock build for boost and text now at the same time. Mine and my wife's were both unlocked and rooted out of the box. Not bad for $4.99 and $9.99 huh? I just installed busybox and TWRP to get full functionality. This helps I hope.

As far as "carrier unlocking" goes, I've avidly researched this topic for over a year now. As far as I can tell, and even though the xt1526 had both GSM and CDMA capabilities, nobody has successfully unlocked it to function with a domestic GSM SIM card. However, the xt1526 has native UICC unlock which allows for use with international SIM carriers.

Requires the same GSM trick that the Verizon model needs, but it has an unlockable bootloader, so you can root and edit the build.prop to make it permanent. The AT&T bands are enabled by default, but you still need to perform the GSM trick, else it'll get stuck trying to activate in LTE/CDMA mode.

Yes, the USC requires manual switching of network modes before it will work with GSM Sims. There is a thread here titled something like "help verify, use CDMA device on GSM network, no PC required" or something like that.
Afaik all AT&T LTE bands are working - I get LTE on the moto e the same places I get it on my ATT Galaxy S6.
