What's your next phone now that the Note 7 is discontinued? - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

I am curious to see what you guys are going to do now that the Note 7 is officially gone. I am hopeful that it will be back in some shape or form.
I was going to get the the Note 7 as soon as it became available, but now I am on the market for a new phone.
So, I am curious... what are you going to do? Are you jumping ship? If so, which one? I honestly do not find ANY phone to get in lieu of the Note 7. Those that come close fall short of the Micro SD Card.

Already swapped out for a S7 Edge silver its good so far reason is i have the Gear VR ,256 gb sd card and a gear fit 2....plus the LG V20 isnt due untill the 28 and pre orders for sprint start on the 21 just could not risk my family. Im really sad but hey we are safe!

Oh nice! I didn't know about the LG V20. I looked at the specs, and it's not bad. It has the expandable memory, so that's a plus for me.
My only issue with the S7 is that it's too small.

Note 8...
Inviato dal mio SM-N930F utilizzando Tapatalk

Bought a new dual SIM Note 5 to keep me going until the return of the Note super phone. I am hoping that Samsung make available the Note 7 features (software) in the next release for the Note 5.

This would be better as a poll.....
Personally I'm just buying a Oneplus3 as if I only keep it for a month or 3, until either the V20 is available or the S8 plus includes a pen (heres hoping), I'll only lose around £50. If I bought something more expensive my loss becomes greater. Oneplus has quite a solid following so reselling will be easy. Also I'm not jumping straight into pre orders again after this. 30 days after launch is now my starting point as I reckon I've lost over £150 on accessories due to samsung mucking this up.
BTW is anyone returning the gift VR or hanging onto it? I'm keeping mine for the next note device I get....assuming the model isn't killed off too. That'd be maddening. I hope the note 8 will be similar but it must have a removable battery after this....if indeed the battery was the sole problem (which I doubt).

Please don't throw rocks....
I am torn between s7e and ip7+. I had before the s7e and was happy with it( trade it for n7) but never had an iPhone. So was thinking till next note to try one.
Advise please?

I had the iPhone 7 plus for 2 weeks. Far too large vs note 7, but very speedy and smooth. I just found the Apple ecosystem too closed and the iOS interface too maddening and it felt antiquated to me. I don't like their new bubble like notification center. Stereo speakers were quite tinny. Also, that damn home button controls everything as far as double tapping etc. To each their own I guess.

The next Note.

Yeap... I played today with a iPhone 7+ in store.
I just can't use it. Just can't. S7edge will be. Plus the gear S3 will come, so...

OnePlus 3. I wanted to be able to use my new gear VR, gear s2, and maybe a gear 360 so I was considering a galaxy s7, but oh well. kinda don't wanna deal with Samsung until maybe the Note 8 or maybe if the S8 is really superb. I heard it'll come with dual cameras so that'd be cool

I will wait for now and keep using the Note 7, not because I am reckless, but it's a calculated risk , for one there is zero cases of battery faults in my region (MENA) for both versions and I disabled fast charging and pay attention if it's warm.
If Samsung forced me to stop it through an update (or kill switch), which I expect to happen in the next few weeks, then it's back to the Note 5.
My big concern is that Samsung still has no idea why the Note 7 keeps catching fire, I am hoping they can find it and pinpoint the issue soon.

I wonder if people really powered down, or returned/exchanged their phones already.
I want to observe the next few days and see if another incident happens.

I added a poll - I meant to say OnePlus 3 instead of One Plus as an option. Unfortunately, I can't change it.

I still have my Note 5 but I love my Note 7 and I will not give it up.
I need 64 Gig and the S7E will not hack it.
The iPhone7+ really sucks.
It is a unique dilemma.
It's hard to believe that Samsung will not address this issue in some way and not just continue along like nothing happened.

I went in and tried to return it but my carrier would not take it in

Please add option in the poll to return to the Note 5.

Still going with my note 5, though i already planned and savings some money for note 7 (and will buy it on november) But with this fiasco, well.. i think lg v20 will be fine.. maybe huawei mate 9 or saving further to march 2017 for s8..

Waiting for the S7Edge to be sent.

What happens after the recall?

Now that the note 7 is officially recalled, what will this mean for those deciding to get a replacement note 7? How will the resale value be affected? Any other downsides to this?

They should do like the S7 and S7 Edge, buy 1 get 1 free... sell the fixed devices and honor there guarantee as if it were new,
I'm not too worried about the resale point if view but the one thing that does concern me is if Sammy see it as a failed device and lower or even drop support for it such as bug fixes and updates.

Its just my opinion but this wouldnt surprise me.
They must realize by now that the boat has sailed on the note 7-there is no recovering from something lile this. People are just not going to want these devices.
Im a die hard sammy fan for years now...have every note since the note 2 but im not even sure when i get my replacement device if i will even unseal it. Likely i will just dump it and go another route.
I also dont see development going big either for the same reasons.. developers dont want a device that doesnt have a strong following.

See I'm still on the fence it is such a great device and I can't see a decent alternative. I already own the s7 edge (promised to my wife) and as a lot of us was really looking forward to the note 7. See mine is on order not replacement so I can cancel any time but what else is there to match the note series. I been given a new del date of 29 Oct. Guess I can see how this rollercoaster goes for the next few weeks.

Same boat as you I will be due for another jump in no time and not sure if will stay on the note 7. Won't be surprise if it does not see a lick of update
Guys, i've been struggling with the same thoughts this week. I've come to the conclusion that there is simply no phone on the market that can match the Note 7 overall. This phone is the most beautiful, well designed and functional device on the market right now. Any other phone would feel like a downgrade for me. Of course, i could get the Oneplus 3 and wait another year or so for the Note 8 which i'm sure will be a beast, but i will miss the Note 7 and the Gear VR so much, it's really not worth it for me. This device meets every need i have.
Regarding the software, here's my conclusion. Samsung has huge credibility issues and big financial losses due to the recall.
However, buyers of the Samsung Note line of phones are the most pretentious, loyal and enthusiastic of all Samsung clients. Samsung cannot afford to let Note 7 buyers down. In the long run, abandoning the Note 7 is a bad decision. Instead, i believe Samsung will have a big Note 7 relaunch with lots of marketing, we will possibly see new software features, a fast and stable Nougat update, Daydream VR support, possibly a Note 7 Plus (6GB+128GB) launch in December, and anything possible that will keep people talking about Samsung and Note 7 in a positive light.
I choose to believe this, and if i will be let down i probably won't ever buy another flagship again.
What else am I going to buy though? There's still nothing else that has a stylus and is worth looking at.

People have trusted Honda after the Takata airbag debacle. They also came back to Audi after their unintended acceleration disaster. People still fly AA even though 251 people were killed in Chicago due to sloppy maintenance. GM just had their best year ever after going through bankruptcy and covering up an ignition switch defect that killed 124 people. VW will be fine after intentionally cheating on emissions tests. Samsung will be fine too. There's always some short term impact from these types of things but strong brands power through them.

if not note 7 then what?

So since the whole note 7 is going down the drain, what should I switch my note 7 in for? Not apple for sure. Looking for a powerful phone that I can mess around with and learn coding etc stuff and tweak it and it have a good camera and everything else.
I went for S7E... Waited 2 years! 2 years for a NOTE... 5 was not released in EU and now this sh1t with N7... Maybe next year if it's as good as that day phones are I will sell S7E and finally get a NOTE. Fingers crossed!

Same, I skipped last 2 Notes to get my hands on this one. Have to wait another year. I'm sure Sammy will reward long suffering and loyal Note users
Oneplus 3. Finding it really good apart from the odd quirk with the OS overly
This is a sad day for all phones ?
How to get note 7 ROM on note 5. Maybe I shud stick to note 5 for another yr.. Can't seem to find a better phone!! Note 7 was it... #Sad #EmotionallyScared

I had finally decided I would look into a Note 5. I also skipped the last 2 notes and held out for the 7. I passed this time again when I saw the Note 5 was still going for $729 at T-Mobile. I know I am being ridiculous in the end. But if I wont pay that much for the S7/S7E and its damn near identical, there is no way I would pay that much for last years model. I know we Note owners are very particular, but I refuse to pay that price for something I don't really want but is just a means to an end.
ZTE Axon 7. It has stereo speakers, dolby, and half the price.
if you do not really really need the stylus, could be a perfect replacement.

this has been discussed 1000000 times already.
because OP3 is FHD (not QHD), does not have QC3.0 and stereo speakers with high-quality audio dac, for example. depends on your needs... you need to make this research on your own, and make the decision.
Sticking with the S6 edge plus until the note 8 I guess. It's the only alternative 5.7" QHD super amoled android phone on the market other than the note 5 that didn't make it to the UK. However, there is the Honor note 8 buts that's a 6.6" which is a little too big for me. Although it does boast a samsung QHD super amoled panel, so it might be worth looking for guys with big hands but in my opinion its not as sleek looking as the note 7 or the s6 edge plus/note 5 for that matter
I highly recommend the S7 Edge.
My friend got the Note 7 on launch and still has it to this day, however he is thinking about switching over - finally, and he chose the S7 Edge.
When it comes to pretty strong phones in terms of the hardware and functionality side of things, either the S7 or S7 Edge if you want something that has the edge features and a bigger screen.
I previously had a Note 4, then went to down to an S5, then up to an S7 Edge. Odd I know.
Comparing a Note 7 and an S7E side by side there's not much difference to be fairly honest.
Wouldn't go with an S6 - Not IP67 certified and no SD Card slot
Alternatively - buy a cheap phone for the time being until something that you really like comes out
TBH, I don't think there's any device on the market at the moment that can replace the Note 7 or Note 5, features/hardware-wise.
The LG v20 somehow tries to, but it's still a vastly inferior product in my opinion (not a bad phone, just not on the Note 7's level)
Samsung Note 5
Found a great deal on Woot for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 32gb. $369.99 Grade A refurbished. This should hold me over until this all gets sorted out next year.

Why I Got A 2nd Nexus 6P...

So something was on my mind and I thought I would spill on XDA...
Im a phone junkie. Ive probably had most major flagship devices pass through my hands. But theres something about the 6P.
6 Months ago in May i got my first 6p. I am also a guy who has 2 phones. One to tinker and one to have as my daily driver. The year before i had bought a Moto X Style and I loved the device. Was bloody amazing! But the battery life didnt do it for me so decided to look to the future and went with a Nexus 6P. At that time my daily driver was the S7 Edge.
So August rolls around and the Note 7 is announced & released. The UK got it 2 weeks later than the US. Unfortunately I got rid of my S7 Edge for it while keeping my Nexus 6P. I was one of the unlucky people who got a Note 7 before it was recalled and subsequently had my Note 7 almost blow up on me. I got a replacement and very quickly I saw the Note 7 had been discontinued and the device had to be returned In replacement, I got a Iphone 7 256Gb which I lasted 36 hours with before I couldnt take it anymore and traded it to CEX.
So with my favourite series of devices recalled and with my change to a device that I couldnt get on with, I was in open market to buy a new phone. I had the choice between anything that CEX had Android wise. They even had a Moto Z on the day I went to see them, but heres why i decided to buy the Nexus 6P in 128Gb while still having my 32 Gb edtion.

These devices to me are still relevant in the market and im not bothered about the SD810 issues. My devices never run that hot. Plus add in the fact that I get unlimited tethering, these devices for me are why I love android. These kill the Iphone IMHO.
Congratz, one for each hand! they are classics!
I read the title and i was like "Well do enlighten me, why do you have two nexus 6P".
Not disappointed.
I actually though of a Samsung S7 when I went to buy my 6P, but the screensize wasn't what I expected (I wanted a bigger screen and the edges took some space off it one way or another), ended up with the 6P which was always my first considered choice.
I gotta ask though, why do you say the Note 7 almost blew up on you? Did you experience any problems that would suggest that would happen?

Long story but....
My N7 died on me randomly while i was using it... The software died. I tried flashing Custom Rom Nothing... TWRP would boot but would freeze
Used kies to restore software, but even that didnt work. My device then began emitting a burning smell. I managed to power down the device and make it safe..
I sent it Sammie after they got in contact with me, they sent out another device. Then the full recall happened a second time. I almost ended up like all those other devices you see burned out.
FWIW I call them the twins xd
First off, let me say I am a phone addict. Haha. In the last 11 months I have owned 4 Nexus 6P's. I keep coming back to them. Right now I have one along with my S7 edge. If the edge was a bit smoother, especially with a SD820, it would be a near perfect phone.
Sent from my SM-G935U using Tapatalk
I had a Note7 when it first launched and was very disappointed when I had to return it due to the recall. The one I received got so hot to the touch when charging I didn't want to take the chance of it exploding. I loved the phone but I went and got a 7 Plus as my personal phone instead. But I missed android and having owned and returned a Nexus 6P for the Note7 I decided I wanted it back. So when it came time to choose a work phone it was no question that I went for a 6P. The stock android experience is the best and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I got the 6P back in my hands.

I am thinking about 2nd hand Samsung S7, HTC 10 , OnePlus 3 , Pixel XL.
(I think my 6P battery start degraded.)
Its just an amazing device
I have an S7 Edge also and keep going back to the 6P. I love the screen on the S7E but the curved screen I keep touching with my fingers holding it and stuff goes haywire, It's maddening. I don't find the battery life on the S7E that great (as some do). I'm not a heavy user so it bothers me to drop 50-60% during the day when I've done virtually nothing with the device but some hangouts messages, texts and a couple conf calls. It will last all day, just bothers me draining that much with little use
I'm actually thinking of getting a second one. Maybe a 128gb version this time. I just look at the new pixel and I'm not excited. I was more intrigued by the HTC 10 to be honest.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Labs
With the Pixels system software now available on the 6P and 7.1.1 running much better than 7.0 ,i find very little reason to splash out $1000 on a Pixel. The 6P is still very flagship at the end of 2016, it's still good for another year. If it had OIS it'd be perfect.

Hi guys,
This is my short story why I buy my a second Nexus 6P.
I killed my old Nexus 6P with 128gb in Turkey and I was from end January until August in Turkey. When I was back I think which phone I should buy. My favorites are the HTC 10 (HTC Boy since HTC Desire => M9, Oneplus3 and the Nexus 6p. OnePlus have no AOSP, the HTC 10 los the beautiful design with the fingerprint sensor at the front. Than I remember my old Nexus 6P and the nice community (thanks to all devs). Now I have bought a new Nexus 6P with 64Gb. Maybe next year a new HTC with fingerprint sensor on the back or the Pixel

I was was Note before Note was cool...what's your story?

I started with the Note 2. I remember whipping it out in a training at Capgenini starting to take notes with the pen and the whole thing stopped. Everybody wanted me to demonstrate the device.
I skipped the 3 and got the 4, a classic. Great camera, great size. Onenote came out with pen support and my whole world changed. Haven't used paper since.
I skipped the 5, no SD card?
The 7 was a work of art. I never gave mine back. Cold dead hands..... kept hoping I would be able to trick verizon and get it on their network. After locking my account on 3 attempts I gave up. I still use it for taking pictures and movies of my daughter riding. When they locked out the 7, I got another 4 on ebay. I'm typing this on it now....it's rooted...I've having fun with ROMs and such.
I am so looking forward to the 8. While I film my daughters ridinf, I am constantly zooming to 2x....I can't wait to do it without losing quality.
Waiting for Best buy.
Great post
I also started with the N2. The first evening, I took a call in a pub and remember friends laughing at the thing. It seemed so big compared to the iPhone 4s that (I think) was the mainstay at the time.
Had that phone for two years then took the N4.
Two years later, upgraded to the N7 which is still the best phone I've seen... till my N8 arrives.
I made the big mistake of returning the N7 during the recall. Should have kept it but swapped to an S7E. Even now I occasionally catch myself reaching for a non-existent S Pen...
I have had all the Note devices including the Note Edge and Note 12.2 Pro. Currently use the Note FE synced with the Tab S3. All my notes are hand written and mainly use OneNote and Samsung Note apps.

Same Note 2, Note 4, Note 7, Note 8 And I also have my Note 7 still. Are we secretly twins? LOL
Started with a Dell Streak. The first enormous phone I'd ever seen (I loathe the term phablet).
When it was time to upgrade, I moved to the Note because I loved having a big screen. Then I upgraded every 2 years as my AT&T contract allowed. Note I717, Note 3, Note5, and soon (not soon enough) Note8.
I remember my big phone starter was the tmobile sidekick 1. That phone had aol instant messenger, email, notes, full qwerty keyboard, etc.... fun phone. Then I got the sidekick 2 & 3, and I was like.... wow! these phones are awesome!
I owned all Notes, kept some longer than others. My favorite Notes were the 3 due to all the development it was getting and the 7 simply because how nice looking it was.
Favorite small phone: HTC dream (G1) and T-mobile dash
Favorite large phone: Nexus 6
I started with an N2, I didn't think the N4 was worth the upgrade so passed on it. I had intended to upgrade when the N5 was released but the missing SDcard killed that idea. After that I activated my wifes old N3 until the N7 was available. I was able to keep my N7 which I rooted from day 1 until the end of Febuary when Verizon disabled my service so I returned it at that point. I had sold my N3 converted to Dev Edition on eBay. I'm now actually using my old N2 and anxiously awaiting the delivery of my N8. My N2 is running Octos 6.0.1 so it's not too bad.
I was really hoping the N8 would be available in the bright silver like the N7. I really like that finish but now the colors are so boring. I almost jumped ship in favor of the V30 but the N8 shipped before I could cancel my preorder.
The N7 was pretty much perfect as long as it didn't burst into flames.

I probably would have gotten the original Note if I didn't try one of those awful Droid phones first. :/ Shortly after I got my Droid, the Note was released and I really wanted one. The phone game was quite a mess back then. I thought Motorola was going places when Google acquired it and I already preferred Android over iOS. But that never went anywhere, and then Google sold it to Lenova. The Note 2 was out and I decided to jump onto the Samsung bandwagon. Been ridin' it since.
I experienced the same Note lineup as you. Note 2, 4, 7, and now waiting for the 8 to be shipped. I still have the Note 2, gave the Note 4 to my mother, and we all know what happened with the Note 7. Glad I kept the S-pen and extra tips from both Note 7s that I had to return, cause the Note 8 uses the exact same S-pen. Now I have extras.
As far as the S line goes, I had the S3, S4, S6 edge, S7 edge, and currently using the S8+. I still have the S4.

Oh cool, I still have my Note 7. Nice to know it uses the same pen
I started with the original Note and still have it, I moved onto the Note 2 which I loved and had it for 4 years, I truly loved that phone. I remember being on a train with my original Note and a bunch of guys were blown away by it.
I appreciate times have moved on but I don't like the direction the newer Notes have taken. I'm just not a fan of the curved screen, the all glass construction and the tall and narrow styling.
Note note2 note3 note4 note5 (wasnt released in UK so i had to buy Russian model) now the Note 8.
Missed the Note 7 unfortunately
Looking forward to comparing the 8 to my Note 1 when it arrives
Had Note 2 3 4 5 7.
I thought the Note 5 was the best to use & hold, If only it had a SD card slot it would have just about perfect, until the 7 came along.
Note 4 was good but just as nice as the Note 5.
Roll on the Note 8.
Late note adapter started with note 4 skipped the 5 lack of sd card note 7 had it until the recall can't wait for the note 8
While everyone was laughing at the original note I was lusting after it from my Galaxy S II. Was able to get a Note II, and haven't loved a phone quite like that one ever since. After that I went all over the place: S4, Lumia 830, S6, and now off the deep end on a iPhone 7+. I was so set on getting a Note 7, counting the days until I was able to upgrade, then watched in slow motion as it all unraveled.
I preordered first thing in the morning after the announcement. How many of us didn't really need to see the announcement to preorder? I would have preordered this phone last month if they would have let me.
Now I am debating cancelling the Best Buy preorder to order from AT&T to get it a week earlier. $100 vs one more week on an iPhone.

I was excited about the first Note before it was launched based on this promo video. I waited for a few weeks after it was launched before jumping in. Loved it from the beginning. It came with a free flip case which gave it a professional look and it was completely different from anything then available. I had the Note for three years and then purchased the Note 4 which I still have and is still working well. The Note 8 looks interesting but is probably too expensive for me but after its price drops around 30% I will be interested.
Started my Android journey on the Dell Streak. Got the Note on release day. Got the Note 3 on release day, great phone, had it three years, longest I've ever had a phone. Now getting the Note 8 on release day.
I started my smartphone addiction with a HTC Touch Diamond, which was windows. I was afraid to go to android because I thought I would lose my Note taking ability with the stylus...but swapped to the original Droid because of a BOGO plan (which I dropped in water, dried in a bag of rice and it ended up with better performance, somehow)Then :
Galaxy Nexus,
HTC Thunderbolt,
Galaxy Note III,
Galaxy Note 7 (two of them),
...back to the Note III...gave the Wify the S7 Edge,
...patiently waiting for my Galaxy Note 8....

Are you thinking of cancelling your preorder?

Looking at the speculation about the upcoming Galaxy S11, I'm wondering whether to cancel my preorder, hold on to Note 8, and wait for the Note 11.
For me, coming from the Note 8 to the Note 10 is quite an upgrade, but it's been spoiled by the negativity surrounding it.
It's possible that next years Note 11 will have a higher screen refresh, a new camera with 10x zoom, 5G on the SOC and hopefully no punch hole.
I know that the next big thing is always around the corner, but has the furore surrounding this years Note left a slightly bitter taste for you, as it has me?
Anyone else facing this dilemma,
I have a Note 8 and I'm getting the Note 10. Plus. It's a big upgrade from the 8. I don't care what others think. I like the phone and I'm getting it and can't wait.

Agree with you. I too have an N8 and N10 plus is a pretty decent upgrade.
Upgrading or not is an individual's choice and one may or may not have many reasons to upgrade or leave N10. I had decided not to upgrade from N8 and was waiting from Mate 3 Pro, but then i was in a Mall shopping & i crossed a Samsung Cafe and thought of checking the demo unit of N10 & i fell in love with its overall beauty and pre-booked it.

I tend to agree with you, for me, these controversies started with the pre release leaks that over hyped what to expect.
People were talking about 90hz screens, 10x zoom on 48 megapixel sensors, sound on display and free wireless buds.
It's then becomes a bit galling when none of it materialises on the Note, but yet competitors and even some Samsung non flagships are touted as getting these features.
What makes it worse is that Samsung developed these technologies and then produces them for it's competitors, but omits them on what's meant to be it's marquee device.
I have cancelled mine as it is not good enough to justify an upgrade from Note 9. I will have a look at what Huawei and Google have to say and decide thereon... In the meanwhile I do respect everyone' s opinion and decision...

My daughter has a Note 9, which I was in two minds of getting for her at the time, since I didn't consider it much of an upgrade from the 8.
I totally understand your stance, and in this period that we've entered of only incremental upgrades, the 'Note' upgrade cycle will for most people be biannual.
Duh.................................................nah. Not cancelling my preorder, there will always be a bigger and better phone right around the corner. I did get free wireless buds and a 10,000 mAh Portable Battery. Not as much as in the past but if you don't want it.....................................just wait.
I won't cancel mine now cause for a decent amount off when ordering from Very. I did expect possibly to get wireless earbuds but I think that was just cause I was hoping. Going from the note 8 also I very happy with my choice so far. Yeah I used my headphone jack before but I'll adapt as we all will have too soon
Don't base your decision on Note 11 rumours. Any Note 11 spec is just speculation and fantasy. How many years did people speculate things like a foldable, or in screen thumbprint reader before anything was released with those?
Will the Note 11 be better than the Note 10? Hopefully they get better with each version. The real question is are you ready to upgrade your Note 8? If so get the 10, if not, see what comes out next year.
Upgrading from the S9+. I figure it'll be a great update since it's a generation back. Plus, I like larger phones and the pen will come in handy. Also, I already use wireless buds at the gym, so the lack of a headphone jack is not a deal-breaker for me.
this 10x optical zoom?
what's the zoom on the note 10+ ?
I have the note 9 and I plan to upgrade. Reason is the trade in each year makes it worth it. I only spent 300 on my note 9 when I traded in my note 8 and the 10+ will only cost me 500 (300 when you factor in the accessories they give you). By the time the note 11 comes out I'm sure Samsung will give you a trade in allowance just like they did for the 10.
Hellz no.
I'm going from an S10 plus and Note 9 to a Note 10 plus.
I will so get the S11 and the Note 11 lol.
I've been doing this pretty much since the S3 with few exceptions along the way.
I also get a new google device yearly as well since the galaxy nexus other than the 1st gen pixel and pixel 3 xl (because they both were terrible).
No sense waiting...get what you want now then just do it again once the next device drops that you like.

Exactly. Doesn't make sense to wait. There's a huge difference between the 9 and the 10+, let alone the 8! I'm paying 340 for mine with the trade-in, barring they don't deny the hairline cracks in the back (not effecting the camera or screen).

I think it's 2x?
I once was that guy. Upgraded my phone every year.. until the Note 7 incident. Which to me was over blown also.. That's when we were downgraded to the S7. Hated that phone and thought I will be a note user for life. After I got the Note 8 and saw the note 9. I felt it wasn't worth the upgrade. So yes now I will be upgrading on even numbers. Odd numbers will get the best new features. And even numbers we get a little extra icing on our cake. I still don't see what all this disappointment is about this phone. I'm sorry but we have gotten spoiled about having all these great innovations every 6 months. I will say this. Hell you could have an Iphone.

I think most of the noise and disappointment could have been avoided if Samsung named the models differently. The Note10+ is really what Note users expect in a Note phone. If they would have called it the Note 10 and the smaller one the Note 10e I don't think there would be as many negative comments about this release.

Agree. My daughter got the S10 and the wife got the S10e, which is actually the S10 with a flat screen and slightly lower specs which is essentially what the Note 10 is except for the flat screen.

That's exactly what happened to me and where I stand. I also didn't get the Note 9 as I didn't see it as much of a worth while upgrade from the Note 8. But the Note 10+ is a different story and is why I'm getting it. I honestly don't care about the headphone jack as I rarely use it. My only thing is the notification light, but even then I am normally paired to my S3 Frontier so I also don't see that as much of an issue either. It wasn't even until I went into a T-Mobile store and saw and interacted with the demo unit that I was sold on getting the phone and also what sold me on not getting it in the aura glow color.
I have been having this disease of buying every new Samsung flagship since S- I9000. I said YES to my regular retailer who called me up for a preorder.
I got the chance to use the the non-retail N10+ for a day recently. Completely based on my own tastes, I'm finding this Note 10+, for the first time ever on a Galaxy Note , not adequately upgraded enough from its immediate "S" predecessor that I own, even though it's been upgraded in few other ways.
In short, I might end up cancelling it.Even if I buy after all, I will not be using it more than 3 months from now, as I am pretty sure I will be buying what Google has for us anyways on 1st release to replace daily driver - thriving to use ideas based on innovation that should actually work, that I'm not seeing in a long time.
