I've noticed that just recently, my ZW2 will chime a few times throughout the night when placed on the charger. I'll get the "charging" chime when the watch is initially connected to the charger, but then it chimes again later (perhaps a "the watch is now fully charged" chime??) and if I ignore it, it will chime again ("reminder - the watch is now fully charged"???)
I charge my watch overnight and this chime is waking me up. Is this a feature or a bug? Can it be turned off?
I do not think this is a "loss of connection to the charging cable" type situation because the watch is on a charging stand and it also never did this prior to just a few days ago. I did try cleaning the charging connection, just in case it is a connection issue, but the chimes still occur.
Thoughts?
Thank you

I've been getting this same thing, and it started happening a few days ago. It seems that rebooting the watch fixes it.
I've also noticed recently that walking out of range of Bluetooth, then back in range, the watch will say it's connected, but it's actually not, meaning I have to reboot the watch for it to actually communicate with the phone again.

Have this, too. I think the metal contacts are dirty and after a while the watch disconnects from the charger and reconnects again.
I think that cleaning the contacts on charger and watch may help.

OK, sorry.
But even cleaning after cleaning could help.
I think, I experienced it more often after a system update about half a year ago. But could also be dirt...

Okay, this issue isn't just with me. I'm reading other reports on other forums. I contacted ASUS (this morning) via their "Report a Bug" feature in the ZenWatch app and I also contacted them via Twitter. Let's see if they say anything.
I had the same problem yesterday, the watch woke me up in the middle of the night because it wouldn't stop beeping, cleaning the contacts fixed it
It looks like an update to ZenWatch Manager (version 3.0.0.161013) has been released. My watch just updated this morning, so I'll have to see tonight if this fixes the issue.

Don't think so, as the manager does not change anything important on the watch.

That's interesting, that an app called ZenWatch Manager doesn't affect the watch.
Anyway, the chiming didn't happen when I charged the watch last night, so hopefully this is resolved.
I think the update of the firmware on the watch did the trick (which rolled out two days ago).
The manager only gives you access to the watch faces and some settings, but does AFAIK not change anything important in the OS.
What should the manager do in your opinion?

I make sure my speaker is turned off when I charge my watch. No more chimes. Might want to try that. Might whip up a tasker/autowear task to automate it soon.
On charge = speaker off
Off charge (10 seconds to allow for intermittent charge disconnection) = speaker on.

I'd be very interested in automating something like this. I did have AutoWear installed, but I uninstalled it because of its integration with Google Games. I'm not playing a game. I don't care about a "leaderboard" for AutoWear.
So far, does not look like AutoWear does not support speakers. They are working on it, but might be lower on the priority list. Since there are only two watches that have speaker support, not exactly high demand item.
Can use Autowear though to detect charge/not charge mode and then trigger a task on your phone to pop up a message reminder to turn your volume up as an interim.
I do not care for the Google Play games integration, but I do not sign in to it. App works just fine.
I haven't had it chime for a while now, but it only seemed to do it when it was fully charged.
The screen would say "not charging" for a second, then the message would disappear, and it would chime.
It chimed again this morning at 7 AM.
I have now turned off all sounds to the watch and put the "ringer" on vibrate only.
I have contacted ASUS, but they don't seem to have any information on this issue.
I've had the same problem since this latest update. I normally charge my watch on my win 10 laptop while PC is in sleep mode. 2 nights ago I noticed the chime kept occasionally sounding and by morning (4 hours later) battery life had drained quickly from 40% to 15% . Also windows was popping up an unrecognized USB device error. I plugged in the charger to a wall outlet and it charged very quickly to 54%. Last night I cleaned the connections on the wire and watch with alcohol pad and charged it using the wall outlet and after several times of connecting/disconnecting the cord to the watch it finally said "charging" and charged through the night OK.
I wonder if a factory reset on the watch may help with the power issue? Anybody tried that yet?

I did a full factory reset on the watch. It was quiet for about 1-2 charge cycles and then it started chiming again. I turned off all sounds, which I wish I didn't have to do because I have an app that customizes notifications on the watch. I did contact ASUS, but they seem to not know anything about this issue.

The new update changed the sensitivity to the position that the phone is on the charger. It has to be dead center now or it will not link right.By dead center I mean equal amounts of the phone overhang front and back.

No just from my own experience. Mine did it at first but I noticed I had not centered it. After centering it, it quit. I also noticed it now chimes or makes a notice when it reached full charge. No way to disable from what I see.
I've noticed that the wireless charging will eventually stop (seemingly after the phone is fully charged and has been sitting on the charger for a while) and the phone will power itself from the battery. So, for example, if it were to reach full charge during the night, in the morning it may be at 90% even though it's still sitting on the charger. Has anyone else noticed this?

I only had this issue with a third party charger. When using the nokia charging plate, this issue does not arise. I can see no battery drain in the battery app for the time periods in which the phone was on the nokia charging plate.

My phone continues to play the notification sound and turn on the screen several times during the night. I am wondering if it is chiming when it reaches 100% and then it stops charging, looses some charge, turns back on and then chimes at 100% again. I checked the phone and it was quite hot. This is annoying and I now have set it to vibrate so it doesn't wake me up. Nokia/Microsoft needs to fix this.

Mine was doing that but if I place it on the charger so that the bottom edge with the speakers line up with the same edge of the charger end with the LED then the phone will stay quite all night. I really think the new update raised/lowered the sensitivity of the proximity/nfc sensor in the phone.
I plug my phone in before going to sleep and when the battery is fully charged the "Battery Full" Notification sounds. The problem is it repeats every 1 - 2 minutes. I have tried everything I can think of to stop it. I need to leave my phone on at night for work purposes so shutting it off or putting it in silent mode is not an option.
My wife has the same phone and hers doesn't repeat the notification.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried to see if its because your cable might be faulty? Faulty as in it gives charge on and off so the notification shows up every minute or so because it thinks you just plugged it in again.

No but I am using a longer after market cable. I will swap tonight and see what happens. Thanks!
I've had my G3 since the 11th release date and had same issue that day, next day and not again till yesterday. No idea what I did different to have it happen again. I'm using stock charger and cable it came with. It's on charge every night. The message and notification seem to me to be intermittent as I havent identified anything that would explain the gap in that issue from day two to just yesterday...
I also noticed certain notifications play both through headphones AND the phone speaker even when phones are connected but apparently that's an android known bug.
It maybe a faulty safety feature that's supposed to prolong the life of your battery. It's not good for your battery to set at 100% for long periods of time so some roms stop charging for a short period of time so battery can drain slightly to prevent damage. You may also have a faulty charging block, switch it out and see what happens. Also really long USB cables are a no-no because it can deteriorate the signal and cause voltage to drop.

It was in fact the charger from my HTC One that I was using. I guess that plus the extra long aftermarket cable caused the issue...

I have the same annoying issue. I just unplug it.
So I use wireless charging every night when I go to bed. Three times since I have owned the phone I have woken up late, my alarm not having gone off, and the LED notification light is on just continuously cycling between all the colors. I have to reboot the phone to get it to stop. Like I said, has only happened three times, but just since I started wireless charging. One of the times was prior to rooting, so that is not the issue. Anyone else had this problem?
I'm not sure what is causing your troubles. I am also rooted and wireless charge every night. Maybe your charger doesn't have a high enough amp rating. Or you may be loosing power in a long cord. I haven't had any trouble with mine. Good luck
Maybe the phone is overheating. The G3 has overheating paranoia, and can act really strange when it gets hot.

It is warm some times when I take it off the charger, but never really hot. I will try a different USB cable, and maybe a new charging pad and see if that makes a difference. But wouldn't it just shut down if it got too hot?

I rem in the past when I tried a Qi pad (kind of like the insert our G3's have) and it didnt line up 100%, it caused weird issues. Are you using a pad that you switched out for your NFC stock one? Or did you buy a complete back with it?

So I disabled Tasker (I had it set up to disable wifi and mobile data when wireless charging and when between the hours of 10:00 and 6:00) and I am no longer having issues with the phone being warm in the morning when I take it off the charger. Is it possible that this is a Tasker issue (as far as the flashing unresponsive LED) and if so, anyone know why or how to fix it? And I was definitely using Tasker prior to rooting as well.
My watch updated to 5.1.1 last night. Everything seems fine except when I place it on the charger it doesnt start charging. If I restart the watch on the charger it starts charging ok (confirming the base and cable are ok) until the next time I use the watch and I put it back on the charger and it wont charge until I restart it again. In other words I need to restart every time I put it on the charger.
Has anyone else experienced this?

If you have problems after OTA 5.1.1, do a factory reset on watch once!
This solves most issues after update!
Thankyou for the suggestion Bitstra.
I bit the bullet overnight and did a full reset (now called a factory reset) on the watch. Sadly the watch is still the same. I put the watch on the charging dock and it wont start charging until I restart the watch..but restarting seems to work every time.
I can live with the problem but I cant help feeling I should have bought the Sony SW3...and then I wouldnt have also been let down by LGs crappy decision not to build the wifi hardware into most of their models.
I see I am not the only one with this problem.....

Hi:
I have 2 chargers because I use one for travel. After updating to 5.1.1, one works and the other does not. I swapped the components and found it was the cable. I hope that this helps.

Nope. Something is wrong with your watch configuration. Have you tried another plug for your charger? It shouldn't do that and I don't have problems and I am on 5.1.1.

Considering the fact that there are many people experiencing the same issue, it is most certainly NOT his watch configuration..There definitely is something wrong with the update on our watches.
For me, the problem is intermittent so it maybe only a matter of time before you or others see it creep up. Luckily, one can tell right away whether a charging session will work or whether a reboot is required. As bugs go, this is only a minor inconvenience..albeit one that LG needs to address..
Same here, watch was charging wen I went to sleep but charging stopped at around 60%
Verstuurd vanaf mijn Nexus 5 met Tapatalk
Well now mine isn't charging unless I reboot it on the cradle. Will investigate more later.
I had the same issue with cable from another device.
With genuine cable charging starts well.
I also had something similar. The watch doesn't always start to charge, but reinserting it into the cradle seems to fix it every time. This began to happen a few days before the 5.1 update (so no direct link to 5.1. but maybe something is wrong in Play services. I also sometimes had an issue with a battery drain the few days before the update).
There is a slight corrosion (discoloring) starting on the second charging pin
Both my brother and I noticed the same problem after receiving the 5.1.1 update on our G Watches. For me, taking it in and out of the cradle does not fix it. If the battery is low it will not charge until it is rebooted. In the morning when it has a full charge I can take it on and off and it will go into charge mode reliably, but at the end of the day it will not.
Happens here too. I have to shut down the watch and then put it at the cradle.
Funny, had the same issue. Tried switcing cables, connecting it straight into PC and reseating the watch on the charging pad. Nothing helped. It started to charge the moment baterry died and it shut down. Also running 5.1.1. Thought it was some charging contacts on the watch issue but seems to be software indeed. Still have some battery left but putitng it on the charing pad does nothing at the moment. Nice bug!
Another G watch user here with the same charging problem after updating to 5.1.1... I guess that I am not the only one.
Same problems here with 5.1.1
Any solution to that? I wiped the watch recently and the bugs still stays. It's a bit annoying to force restart the watch everytime i need to charge it.
For me charging works after putting Watch a few Times on and off the docking

Your problem seems to be different then. I tried to plug it few times, cleaing the connectors, using charger instead of computer that powers the charging station. Nothing helps. It starts charging the moment i reboot the watch and only then.
The watch cannot turn on anymore after i forgot to charge it over night.
I try to clean a contact and tried to connect to computer or charger. No any responding on watch.

For now, it still dead. Can't turn it on but the screen pretty warm.
I think I had that happened after my five days of use. It didn't turn on even on the charger for few hours. What I did was holding the power button for three or four seconds, and let the watch turn on the boot screen, and then right away put it to the charger. Then you should see the battery charging status image on the watch.

Oh, really. be care ful bro, i so concern your watch will dead as my watch.
My battery is completely 0%. My watch is not turned on even on the charger. I pressed the watch down to the charger and made sure it was touching the pins, and then I pressed the power button the watch (while it is on the charger) for 2 or 3 second; the watch is turned on with battery charging status image. Hope that helps. BTW I use a StartTech USB switch for charging my phone and watches. The switch is not plugging to a PC or laptop; it is only for charging my devices.
After I "fried" some bluetooth headsets with wallchargers ( probably powersurge or similar )
I never ever use them for "small" devices like headphones or the watch.
I always charge with a powerbank.
Since then I didn't have any problems
Try to twist the charging ring
After I twist the charging ring couterclockwise/clockwise, the power was increase. So you should try twist the ring until it got the right position and precise contact. Hope this solution helps yours.
I had this exact same problem with my watch after about 8 days, i had charged it multiple times before but one morning i noticed my watch completely off and thought the battery must of drained completely. I went to plug it in and nothing happened it wont charge (even leaving it on the charger for 24+ hours) . Ive tried everything and it just wont turn on or charge.
OP im afriad yours sounds like same issue, i raised a dispute on Aliexpress and got a complete refund. I have just recieved another one so im hoping i dont have the same issue again.
I still have the old broken one so was tempted to pull it apart and see if i can see anything but tbh i wouldnt know where to start so have not bothered.
