Unfortunately, no pre-built developer preview images for the ZW2, though the source is apparently available. Has anyone looked at building a preview image on their own?

As with prerelease versions of regular Android the preview source only contains the changes they are required to publish because of their license. Example is the kernel with is GPL2 licensed requiring source code releases.
Android Wear 2.0 is definitely confirmed for the Zenwatch 2 any day now hopefully

Even though this may be true we have to keep in mind... That Google MAY be releasing the source to Manufactures on Feb 15. ASUS still needs to sign off on it essentially and hopefully not muck it up to much by making their own changes. I dont hopefully for see that but you never know! I had emailed ASUS myself the other day asking them if they had a scheduled date for the rollout and they responded they were not certain. I as well as all of you am very eager to see wear 2.0 arrive on our ZW2! I think a new breath of life will bring a whole new meaning to wearables!
Also in the email i received from ASUS they commented they will not roll out a factory image that can be flashed to the watch via PC. They do have their security updates posted on asus.com but apparently once they roll it out we will have to wait till it arrives on our watch and not just download it and flash it. Unless this rep was wrong however.
Just figured i would let you all know what ive found so far.
I asked Asus in twitter and got the stupid in the coming weeks standard reply

Yea if someone could grab the OTA.zip prior to installing it and pull it via ADB or fastboot then yes we should be able to use that instead of waiting on a slow rollout.
Guess we will have to see what happens!
Best of luck fellow ZW2 users!

They confirmed early Q2: https://twitter.com/ASUSUSA/status/834868083022041093
I have more faith in Asteroid OS than this buggy Android wear crap!
Wear 2.0 is a pretty significant rewrite. I'd rather they get it right than get it fast.
Also, Wear 1.0, while largely just a remote notification system, still works just fine for what it is. The only major feature in 2.0 that I'm waiting for is truly local apps, so I can kill the stupid stub apps on my phone.

Lel. I wouldn't rush anything. Google is the one rushing with the teaser. And postponing. I would rather tease something that is actually a thing without bug rather than a concept. Something what apple done for a long time now.

They haven't released anything yet, its just announced. Comming in the next few weeks... And for the nexus s on 2.3, since we are still on 2.2 officially it may be just a bit before we see anything useful to us. Hopefully once the source hits the devs can work it into our gb roms but with the current video driver situation on gb I am scepticlly optimistic.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
On the contrary - I think that this release will definitely make its way into CM, which in turn will hit the GTablet (since it's officially supported and making great progress with it.)
Right now the only thing the XOOM/other HC tablets have that I've been wanting in the GTab is this - and once I have it, I won't care if we get HC at all.
Just be patient and have some faith, this is highly likely and I'm sure the devs are already setting their sights on it.
Isn't the big issue the fact that we need Gingerbread drivers from Nvidia/Viewsonic? Am I wrong, or did I read that the Gingerbread ROMs are actually running on Froyo device drivers?

I love when they simulate video chat with obvious posed stills. Why not just give a realistic representation of how actual video chat on a phone will look (and believe me, it's not gonna be as crisp and clear as that). And to make it even more realistic, the dude in the smaller box should be masturbating.

Oh I don't know about that -- I find a smiling lady irresistible.
I think we may need to stay focused.
I think Google is in the habit of using employees involved in projects in their photos like that. I would assume since CM7 is officially supported on GTab, and that they will roll in to whatever is latest on AOSP, that this will be available on GTab, the question is how well will it work if NVidia drivers are ignored.

I wouldn't say they tricked us, they said in an interview they were going to go with Key Lime Pie but the deal with Kit Kat kind of happened at the last minute and they thought it would be a good idea. If I'm not wrong Google said that the new Android version would be light enough to run on devices with 512MB RAM, which people guessed would be the case of 4.3, but in the end it wasn't, so I believe 4.4 is going to be a lighter android version, which means way faster user experience on high end devices .

Yes, the reboots have drastically reduced! I have had only 2 reboots after the 4.3 upgrade (more than 30 days ago). That's completely acceptable to me.
Just wondering if the non N5 Nexus devices would be the first ones to get 4.4 (if at all they plan to roll it out that is)?

I used to have a terrible memory leak (5MB of RAM free after only a couple of hours! no exaggeration!) on 4.3 until I tracked down the programme responsible; Chrome!
I hated Chrome for Android already (screws up formatting on a lot of sites, reloads sites on tab switching EVERY TIME, no way to force desktop mode by default, no way to stop overview zoom), but discovering it was responsible for chewing up 80 to 90% of RAM with a memory leak multiple times a day really sealed it!
Switched to AOSP Browser and not had to reboot my N10 since! Currently at 92 hours uptime and 460MB free/cached RAM

Chrome is indeed the default browser (which is shocking on Google's part given how rubbish it is!)
You can find the AOSP browser in the Themes and Apps section of the Nexus 10 forum. here are two versions available, this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330738 which is the easiest to install but you cannot force-enable desktop mode permanently (show stopper for me).
or this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2154938 but the "Find in page" option in the overflow menu doesn't exist in 4.3 so there will be a weird text string (just ignore it)
In both cases you must have Root in order to install
And the roll out begins.... :fingers-crossed:

Except Verizon, according to the images page. WTF is that all about?
as of right now, the latest update shows "7.1.1 (NMF26F, Dec 2016. All carriers except Verizon)".
since i'm on verizon, should i hold off on flashing this? anybody on verizon try flashing this?
Only Verizon holds up **** like this. I'm on Verizon too and this pisses me off. It's bad enough I can't get wifi calling on their system.

Fault Google... not Verizon.. Every Carrier wants to do their **** with controlling the OS on devices used on their carrier. Google doesn't have the balls like Apple to tell Verizon to GTFO. The whole point of Nexus is to circumvent carriers and get updates directly from Google.

To be fair wifi calling was never going to work on VZW for the 6P because they never officially supported the phone.

TL;DR: Jeff Yee, Vice President of Technology Partnerships and Planning for ZTE North America:
"Before any decisions are made about the future of Project CSX, the company's current flagship, the Axon 7, is poised to get updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in early February. Yee says that Google has received the final Nougat build, which includes long-awaited Daydream support, and is going through the process of certifying the release for public use. That process should wrap up in the coming days, and users of the sold-unlocked device can look forward to an update in the next two weeks or so."
"...or so." I'll look for it at the end of February at the earliest.
also from the article:
"Yee says that Google has received the final Nougat build, which includes long-awaited Daydream support, and is going through the process of certifying the release for public use. That process should wrap up in the coming days, and users of the sold-unlocked device can look forward to an update in the next two weeks or so."
Unless it's near vanilla Nougat, and that abomination called Power Manager has been completely removed and killed with fire, I am not interested. Lineage is working wonderfully and I see no reason why ZTE would bring anything useful to the table based on the B27 and B29 updates.
My opinion, for what it's worth.
that article is bull****. the nougat beta doesnt seem to be anywhere close to ready....
I thought they would release 7.1 with Daydream?

Got any proof of that?
Bring it on! Really loving this phone and can't wait to see what the devs here do with the N software.
When it's done, it's done. Simple as that.

They gonna get me that's for sure....Their timeline for nougat has been much better than most other OEM's. And their help was invaluable in getting CM up and running which is pretty much the bigg at reason I actually bought the phone in the first place...If only I could find a decent glass screen protector this would be a 11/10
I was planning to go with the S8 once it is out (assuming unlocked bootloader). But after all ZTE did to help get CM up and running I am going to wait for the AXON 8 instead!

No it's not, not by a long shot. Since when is an update nearly a year after initial release so good? Even companies notorious for slow releases like Samsung have beaten them to the punch. The only one which comes to mind which has delayed as much as them is LG and they're being torn apart for it.

They've done the absolute bare minimum and did far less than any of the random developers here who wanted to get it done. There is literally zero ROMs that you can honestly thank them for, in fact if they weren't so stubborn and just gave us the material to work with we could have come up with plenty long ago. Go ahead and use one of those ROMs, which ZTE did nothing to help with just to be perfectly clear, if you don't mind losing functionality like access to the Hi-Fi DAC. ZTE are by far one of the worst companies when it comes to support that I've ever heard of. Interesting that a lack of screen protectors is what keeps it from being an "11" when it's camera practically doesn't function in medium light, there's random bugs all over the place, and there's still even enough typos to make the entire thing seem like a bad joke.
Even if they do deliver now, it'd be too little too late. I've had this phone for half a year and they haven't kept a single promise. Only empty hype which has never once resulted in something tangible.
I like this mtfk
You Sir have a point, and I think is a valid one.

Given how A2017G users are treated, maybe February 2018?
