I have recently bought the donation pack for greenify and I have several questions. First of all, I want to say that the app is really fulfilling all my expectations but as someone worried about my battery performance I still have some question, but first I'll say the conditions of my smartphone:
Samsung galaxy s5 with lollipop using greenify 2.5.2 donation pack (non rooted)
Questions:
1) I cannot see apps like chrome to be greenified and I want to have them like that as I see chrome takes up to several hours of internet connection even if I have just used it for some minutes. I wonder this is possible because I suppose this can be made as in other apps like battery killers, chrome can be killed, but I just haven't seen how.
2) Everytime I open greenify there are many "pending" apps that are not hibernated, even if I click in "zzz" button or in the button that says "hibernate and turn off the screen". The only way to deal with these pending apps is to select all of them and click on "zzz". I guess there should be a way to have them automatically hibernated.
3) There is an option in the menu that talks about an automatic manner to do this but I don't see how to activate it. I have it marked the greenify options for locking the screen but there are even more things to set that I don't see where and how. Maybe you can guide me in this better. In case I have this option chosen, pending apps will be automatically closed after some minutes, as it is said? if so, how many minutes?

Have you set Greenify to "on" in SETTINGS>Accessibility?
If you want to manually hibernate, create the shortcut from within Greenify (use the three button icon on the top right). When you use the shortcut, the chosen apps will be hibernated and the screen will be locked afterwards.
In Autohibernate, the time taken for hibernation varies but all apps should be hibernated within 10 minutes max.
For hibernating system apps like Chrome, I think you need root permission.
Yes, the accesibility for Greenify is set to activated. However this options is never enabled within the "experimental settings" menu. It's always set to off. So I have never seen my phone awaking ten minutes after to turn off all pending apps. They remain opened. Any hint?.

When you click the "always off" Automatic Hibernation option in Experimental Features, what happened? It is supposed to be a accessibility setting dialog for you to enable the accessibility service from Greenify for the first time, then Device Admin dialog to enable the other service for the second time, and being checked at last for the third time.
Here I post the sequence I do in screenshots. Evrytime I click in that button it appears the same dialog. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong...but i dont get it working and I have to hibernate manually pending apps

Yes! it was that!. I supposed it was enough by allowing greenify in the security menu. Thanks!
However, I wanted to have it working because I thought it was the only way to have pending apps hibernated because with the button "hibernate and lock" was not hibernating pending apps. After rebooting the phone (thing that I do seldom) it works as I expected. I guess this was the cause why greenify wasn't worked as I expected. Then, for me it is ok if I have that button since it does what I expected to.

I want to report an issue with Greenify (2.7.1) which causes space-swype on the Samsung Keyboard to be disabled.
The phone: Galaxy Note 2, custom recovery, rooted, stack ROM.
The Greenify app works perfectly, but when XPOSED experimental features are enabled and ticked ON via Settings->My Device->Accessibility: Services - Greenify, the Samsung keyboard won't change the language = one cannot swype the spacebar to change the language.
Once this Service is enabled no matter what - the keyboard issue will remain permanent.
How it is solved now: Uninstall Greenify via Xposed: Works. Then Reinstall Greenify via Play Store but DO NOT TOUCH the Service-Greenify.
Questions: is it real bug? How can one solve it without reinstalling the app? Any other technical ideas are highly welcome.

Which mode are you using? The Accessibility setting needs to be enabled only if you are using non rooted mode according to the Dev. So if you are using root or boost mode, do not enable Greenify in Accessibility setting. You should not lose any functionality because of that.

I am rooted phone, but actually I do not know what " does rooted mode" mean - I did not see any "mode" in Greenify itself. For the best of my understanding I run a rooted mode.

Greenify has three modes, 'Non Root, 'Root' and 'Boost'. You can access them by clicking the three dot menu on top right side of Greenify app and then clicking Experimental Features. The first option is the mode. Set it to 'Boost' if you have Xposed and have enabled Greenify in Xposed. Disable Greenify in Accessibility and then check your issue. By the way, do you have the donation package of Greenify or the free version?
Dev means the developer of the app, in this case oasisfeng.

Oh, thanks! Never knew that I can tap on "Working Mode" in Greenify! I use a free version.
So, I have Exposed and I enabled the Greenify module there, next I came back to Greenify itself and changed the Mode to Boost.
Could you please explain what the Greenify in Accessibility menu serves for?

I am not sure but I think that it enables Greenify to have access to notifications so that the relevant app can be woken up when a notification is received.
Is your problem solved? By the way, did you reboot after enabling Greenify in Xposed?

Hm, it is very interesting what is the function of this "Greenify" accessibility feature...
Since it was quite a pain to solve the swipe issue I did not enable again the Greenify in accessibility menu - I need the phone in full functionality now.
Probably I'll try to play with this feature later, but it was one-way road - I could not switch it off, thus again... I decided to postpone these "jokes"...

Since you are now using boost mode, you don't have to enable Greenify in Accessibility.

I have the same problem after the last update with my Galaxy S3. If I enable accessibility it doesn't change the language on the keyboard, and if I disable the accessibility, it doesn't let me to stop any app that I select to stop. No-root device, no-root mode for greenify.
Any solutions for that?

There is a button for that.
I've been using Greenify for years and love the app. Since Marshmallow, Android has included a kill app(s) option from the recent apps button menu. With this option, is Greenfiy necessary anymore? The one benefit to using Greenify I can think of is that it does the hibernation automatically after you lock the screen vs manually having to do it with the Android kill option but are there other benefits to using Greenfiy over the Android built-in option?

Killing and hibernation are two different things. Ability to terminate individual apps from the recents menu has been around since at least KitKat. Greenify still has value in Marshmallow depending on configuration and expectations.

Yep - you said "kill". As for needing Greenify original response remains accurate. If you are satisfied Marshmallow's limited implementation of doze/hibernate and battery endurance is satisfactory there is no reason to retain Greenify. If you want more control Greenify is probably best-in-breed when it comes to hibernation emulation/helper apps.

2. Activated as device administrator.
3. Enabled application with access to use.
4. It is enabled for apps that want to hibernate: "ignore running state" and "ignore background-free".
5. I have already cleared the cache, the data, forced the stop, uninstall and reinstall Greenify.
6. In "Troubleshooting", via pc (ADB and USB Debugging), I enabled: "Awakened Application Tracker", "Quick Activation Notification" and "Service Guardian".
7. Reset factory.
8. I've never been warned that automatic hibernation has stopped working.
I always need to confirm the closure of each app manually.
And that way, when the apps auto-start again (without me opening them), Greenify does not hibernate them, they appear in the notification bar and I need to hibernate manually.
I already tried with the option "alternative screen off mode" checked and unchecked, but I get the same result, as well as "quick action notification".
Greenify Free Version: 3.8.5, without use Xposed
Android version: 6.0.1

Automatic hibernation will happen only when the screen locks that too after sometime. Not when you are using the phone.
Can you give the name of an app (as an example) which refuses to hibernate?
Automatic Hibernation and Automated Hibernation are not working
I understand that it is an automatic hibernation and a shutdown time of the screen. Automatic Hibernation does not work, instead of a screen, with this option enabled, after 35 sec the screen switches back on and off quickly. That's only 1 app to hibernate. When manually connecting a screen and checking Greenify, nothing happened. None of the applications scheduled to hibernate have been hibernated, and sometimes others that have already hibernated have self-initialized. Therefore, I have disabled Automatic Hibernation, whether enabled or not, Automated Hibernation does not work.
Both Automatic Hibernation and Automated Hibernation are not working. Automated Hibernation is responsible for not having to manually tap the screen, so that each app is forcibly finalized. These issues (from not working Automatic Hibernation like Automated Hibernation) I'm facing in Greenify for all the apps I put on the hibernation list, I've attached an image with a few. Failure in Automated Hibernation can be seen in the screenshots I've attached. I always need to tap "Ok" to continue hibernation, ie manual hibernation, because the Automated Hibernation feature is not working.

I have recently noticed that I enable the Greenify accessibility option, but when trying to hibernate the app, automated hibernation does not occur and automatic hibernation after turning off the screen also does not work. Then I turn the accessibility options to check: Greenify is disabled. I re-enable, but the option is disabled when trying to hibernate by Greenify.

Accessibility option needs to be enabled only if you are not rooted. But with Google recently changing the policy regarding apps using the Accessibility service, it may not work at all for Greenify.
Regarding your issue, I have not come across anyone else complaining of similar behaviour. How long do you wait after screen off to check if an app is hibernated?
Enable Automatic Hibernation in Root mode, choose a few apps for hibernation. Start each of the apps chosen for hibernation and then close them. Lock the screen and wait for about 15 minutes. Now unlock the screen and open Greenify and take a screenshot. Attach it here or post it anywhere and provide the link to it.
Also let us know what ROM you are using, whether rooted or not, whether using Xposed or not etc.

I removed all the data and cache and uninstalled the app. I became a tester and installed the app beta, but the result was the same. Even if I enable accessibility to the app, I still have to tap the OK button on the screen for each app I want to hibernate.

Did you enable the Quick Action Notification? If so, you may have to manually hibernate each app.
Since I am rooted, I am not able to reproduce your scenario. I think that your ROM or device may be incompatible since your other phone behaves as expected.
Can't unlock Greenify on LG G4
When Greenify locks the screen on my LG G4 I cannot open screen with a double tap, like I was able to in the past, I have to push the power button to be able to use my phone. I have Android 6.0, Greenify 4.1, non-rooted. Tried disabling Auto hibernation for manual, same problem. Have donation package (But can't find icon) . Love Greenify, used to work great but have to fix this problem. Please help.

Assume you do not have shallow hibernation and/or aggressive doze enabled. Me thinks Greenify is activating the lock screen via a standard Android call that bypasses kernel support for double tap. Probably not going to find an easy fix on an unrooted system given age of platform, ROM generation and uniqueness of issue (do not recall this being reported before).
Go-to Developer Options and Disable Miui optimisations, Greenify will work now.
Don't know why, but it will work.

Yes, it is stock and I don't know what a MiUi is, sounds like a Pokemon character.
I'm on a galaxy s7 oreo in no root mode. As soon as I check the automatic hibernation option it uncheckes itself. I really want to setup greenify to auto hibernate my selected apps as soon as they start.

The option you cite will not accomplish that goal. Automatic hibernation activates shortly after screen-off...not when the app becomes active.

The option you cite will not accomplish that goal. Automatic hibernation activates shortly after screen-off...not when the app becomes active.

Gotcha, is there an option to either stop immediately, or even prevent an app from starting all together? If not, I would at least like to get the option that is not working working so it will at least activate on screen lock. Thanks.

I don't know why automatic hibernation is not staying checked on your device. There is probably a logical explanation; I just don't know it off-the-cuff.
Greenified apps generally remain hibernated unless 'activated' by an event or another app. It either case Greenify will note the trigger and give you the option to 'cut' it off.
You can enable 'wake up tracking' and 'quick action notification' in settings for additional flexibility/control. Greenify also includes a couple widgets and other controls (eg: long press action on nav bar) for manually invoking hibernation.
