The other day I connected my LG V10 to my Win 10 desktop to transfer new photos. (...as I have done numerous times over the last year or so with this phone)
For some reason, my computer no longer 'sees/recognizes' my phone. I have no idea why.
Help, please.
Find out what drivers win10 associates with your phone, uninstall and try again

Ok, Ill take this from the beginning uptil now.
From start I rooted my phone, everything worked sweet and I had no problems with any functions of the phone.
Then I added some music to the SD by connecting the phone to USB and copied it over that way. I even used the builtin tetherfunction of the phone to see if it worked when we were about to go on holiday to an island here in Sweden.
When we arrived there (the day after I tested the tether positive) my computer just said "USB device not recognized" and the phone wouldnt even prompt me to mount the SD card, it just puts a notification about HTC Sync (which it cant find even though its installed and was working the day before).
I just thought that something went wrong with the computer and its drivers and accepted the fact that I coulnt tether the internet to my laptop.
Now, a week later when I was about to flash the HTC rom (updated one) I still couldnt get the phone to accept the USB connection, I tried on my workstation with same results as with laptop (USB device not recognized), on my wife's Vista machine nothing happens at all, my parents in law's XP computer says same as on my laptop and workstation, my MAC says nothing at all and my work Vista computer doesnt say anything at all either.
The only way to get it to recognize the phone is if I power it on with power+back (bootloader?), it shows up as a ADB device and I could flash the HTC rom from modaco's generic files.
Even after the new romflash and a total wipe it still doesnt work. Should I contact HTC, or do you think that this is some kind of software issue? Since its working in bootloader (Fastboot USB) the USB part of the phone seems ok, doesnt it?
What would you suggest?
i had the smae error, and the solution for me, it sound crazy, but try to use the original usb cable, or at least a thin one, there are two types.
Ive been trying 4 different USB cables (including the original white one) and all with the same problem. I will try to call HTC Sweden today and see what they think, this is soo annoying. Must say that its been quite a hazzle to use the hero (lagginess until last update drove me mad to start with, and now this...). Im not an apple fanboy of any kind, but I must say my iPhone worked perfectly with no problems from day one and still does (my girlfriend got it now). Its more solid built than the hero. I really hope HTC can solve my issue and make this work since I dont want to send the unit back to be stuck without a phone for a couple of weeks. I will get back here when I got an answer from HTC.
hello latiszm,
I'm having the exact issue as you describe... did you solve the problem? I tried changing the SDCard and also tried different USB cables but with no result... all of a sudden, I cannot mount the card... (it's mounted when the hero boots) but if i take it out and in again, the phone doesn't mount it nor ask me to...
thanks in advance!
hello latiszm,
I had the same problem!!! :-(, i put on the offical update and sent it back to tmobile so they can fix but i think i'll get a new one instead but i gotta wait 3 weeks :-(
I had the exact same problem, although I couldn't even connect with ADB, only fastboot.
See my following post about the problem:

Hello. Used to be on XDA a lot when I was addicted to ROMing my Galaxy S2, so I'm comfortable with this whole process. Since Asus decided the Prime was at end of life (even though it's better than some of the new tablet out there), I decided it was time to start modding mine and try out some of the good looking ROMs I see out there.
The unlock tool worked perfectly the first time (I know, rare). However, I cannot go farther than that because I cannot get Windows to detect my prime in any way (it doesn't show up at all in Device Manager...so I can't even install drivers for it). The most recent thing I've tried is completely wiping and not setting anything up (no google account, etc).
Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center (64-bit)...I've also tried my kid's Windows 7 machine (also 64-bit)
Debugging mode on tablet is on
Tried both MTP and PTP modes
I've tried multiple USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports
Using an official TF201 cable from Asus (brand new, have also tried my generic cable that I use with my wall charger)
Currently running 4.1.1 everything stock (again, only did the unlock, no rooting or anything else)
No dock (that can't be required can it????)
Any suggestions at all?? I don't think it's a driver issue because again, Windows doesn't see it at all, let alone an "unknown" device.
no ideas at all?? really?
Im trying to install drivers for my Verizon SCH-i545 S4. Ive installed samsung Kies/Kies3. I've tried pretty much everything I can find from google and from here but I can't get it to work. What happens is when I try to install the drivers it says the device malfunctioned. I was running windows 8.1 and from what i read 8.1 was not good with phones so I reinstalled windows 7 just for this, still have the same problem. I reinstalled/uninstalled plenty of times already. I tried installing just the drivers without samsung kies. I tried letting windows install the drivers itself, Im out of ideas and out google pages to look.
The reason Im trying to get this to work is because I either soft bricked my phone or really bricked it. Im trying to connect to my PC in odin mode to repair it. If there is some other way to fix my phone with connecting to my computer that would help me too but I don't think so.
Any ideas?
found these around somewhere here. cant remember where or when, but i got em. uninstall Kies (its pretty worthless actually)http://www.mediafire.com/download/6wi69eq8xz18f5h/Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.14.0.exe
Still no luck
Went to the gas station to buy cigarettes and i ended up buying a micro usb cable there just for the hell of it. It works now. For whatever reason the cable that came with my phone doesn't work but the cable i bought from the gas station works.
Just bought this huge phone as a backup for my Verizon 32GB M8.. So I bought this as a good project... But..
*It's bootlooping. Was 50/50 Successful with the freezer thing.
* Doesn't really overheat. Sometimes able to boot into Safe mode but sometimes would suddenly power down.
* Having difficulties trying to connect to my windows 8 computer. (The closest I can get to windows 10 on my old Compaq desktop computer)
* Having trouble with download mode.. LG bridge.. etc.. Dont know what other drivers I need besides the LG driver.. adb? Mtp? Etc?
*After this project I will than create a LG G6 Rom for the V10. Any volunteers and help for me? Any takers?
Update
After again sitting in the freezer it's coming back to life. Just taking baby steps. Left it sit for awhile.. next step is the hair dryer.. but you is on somewhat a time. To get rooted and flash the only rom that's available for your phone.
mine just crapped the bed an hour ago into the infamous bootloop...ill try freezer
help? I recently had a hard drive issue, so i got a new hard drive and did a fresh windows 10 install. All seems to be working fine now, except I can NOT get windows to see my phones - captivate glide, s5 neo, or galaxy s7 all samsung - at all!!! The notifications say samsung_android is connected, but i cant access the files or folders at all, "my computer" brings up zilch as far as even recognizing the device fully, let alone files and folders. i dont remember having this issue before, so some update must have buggered something up somewhere along the line
more and more as the years go by, I crave windows 7. too bad support is ending in 3 months...
can anyone offer any help? Ive got drivers, though those were hard to find and didnt auto install so maybe not the *right* drivers. ive tried each version of connection several times (ptp, mtp) no dice on either. this is so irritating. Ive been literally having to remove my SD card and plug it in directly, and bluetooth between my devices to transfer anything which takes *way* longer on top of having to sit right there and click "allow for another 300 seconds" every so often.... why in the world would windows 10 restrict things SO much??
it wants you to connect your phone directly to your OS with a phone number and having to add an app to your phone. uhhhh, no thanks!!! How can i get the good old fashioned way back? I hadnt updated yet with my old hard drive, and now that this is a new install i cant go back. this is so frustrating. I just want access to my GD pictures without having to dismantle my devices.... and yes its a legit samsung cable and plugged directly in and all of that basic BS. this exact setup with this exact cable worked before. so wtf has changed with this august update (i delayed several times) to make things so unbearably complicated?
please help a frustrated user out!
No one else is having this issue?
