Cannot get wifi to turn on, tried numerous resets etc. any ideas before I send it to Samsung for warrantied repair?
Me too!
I have this exact problem. We purchased the View from AT&T in December 2015. We have barely used it so I cancelled the mobile account in January 2017.
Today we got it out for the first time since September 2016. It won't connect to AT&T (naturally), but it will also not turn on wifi as it should. When you try, it sits at "turning on" indefinitely. I have tried:
-In and out of airplane mode
-SIM in and out
-Many reboots
-Wiped cache partition
-Wiped data via factor reset option
-Attempted factory reset but receive error: E:failed to mount /preload (No such file or directory)
-Safe mode
Since the data has been wiped, the tablet now only boots to the initial setup. The first thing it asks for is a network connection, so it is now useless.
Thank you.

I took mine to best buy and they(sumsung) reloaded the firmware....this fixed the problem until I got home. My view was still under warranty(1 year) so I sent it to samsung for repair.....They replaced the main board in it and it has worked fine since. No charge.
Ouch
Thank you kbwells89. I am a few months over warranty so it looks like I may have a very large shiny paperweight. I am glad you got it going.

Can you take it somewhere and have Samsung "techs" reload the firmware?

So I have had this issue with my phone today where I couldn't seem to get passed the Too many pattern attempts screen.
After trying all my combinations of e-mail and passwords, I was unable to access my phone. As a result, I attempted to do a hard reset (the pressing of both volume rockers and then trying to reset it in that recovery mode).
I did so, wiping all my data, but the too many pattern attempts screen remained. So as a result, I booted up Odin and downloaded the stock versions of the Samsung Fascinate's ROM and proceeded to reflash (or what I believe to be reflashing, I simply followed the directions found in the stickies).
That all said and done, my phone still remains in the too many pattern attempts lock.
I've checked the similar posts on a couple of websites, but was unable to find a situation where all of these fixes did not work.
Thank you!
No replies yet, so I am just going to throw this out there on the off chance that it *might* actually work.
The "complete voodoo lagfix removal" uninstall.zip CWM flash seems to be working as a cure-all for just about whatever may ail your phone, whether you actually *have* voodoo or not...
I would check that out in the OP of this thread.
Download the Voodoo Uninstall on your PC. Copy it to your SDcard (if you don't have a computer that you can put the card in after pulling it out of your phone, try using adb to push it to the phone)
Boot into stock recovery, and flash "update.zip" to get into CWM recovery.
Flash that voodoo uninstall zip using CWM.
I really hope this helps. (Just in case it happens to me. )
Let us know!
I work for flextronics. we see this all the time. it's a known issue that the lock screen doesn't reset with a factory wipe. just call the phone, answer and press the home screen button. it's what we do in store

This is more than likely living in /dbdata . You can wipe that by doing a privacy wipe in settings (requires access to the phone), or flash CWM via odin, and then when in recovery, rm -r /dbdata/ and reboot.
If the phone-call / home button thing else_where posted works, obviously go that route, then do a privacy wipe.

you will more than likely need to mount the /dbdata partition r/w before you can delete the data. This is covered in the Voodoo removal thread (which I had the joy of doing).

Hey guys thanks for all the help,
The calling of the phone didn't work. Tried it, but it kept giving me corrupt errors so I wasn't able to access the home screen.
The voodoo removal sort of worked in that while I was doing it, I also went ahead and did a privacy wipe. Everything would be fine and dandy however, my phone no longer connects to any network. It seems to be in a perpetual state of being unable to find a network. It's not airplane mode, but my phone does think it's January first 2005 again.
Did I miss a step?

You did the privacy wipe from within the settings menu ???? That fixed a similar issue where I couldn't connect to the network

Yes indeed I did. The first thing I did was the Factory data reset.
Unfortunately, the phone seems to be in a state of perpetual ariplane mode preventing access to any network.
The phone also seems to be suffering from that com.android.phone crashes that I suppose make sense given how the Hardware version and the Baseband version are both unknown.
I'm going to try to flash it again in hopes of resetting my phone. The perpetual airplane mode is of course an issue. (but at least I got the alarm functinoality of my phone back)
Hrm, I'm concerned now. Check your settings / about phone and baseband version. Please tell me it does not say 'unknown'.
Yea, mine wasn't stuck in airplane mode, just didn't connect to google's servers to set up gmail.
If you're still rooted, maybe try the radio update ????
Any update ????

DANGER! - Don't go updating your radio unless you really know what you're doing. Yes there has been a radio update with the D01 however flashing the wrong thing to the radio will result in a shiny brick that as of right now can't be recovered!
Yeah I was seeing a bunch of unknowns in a lot of my slots.
I wasn't sure what was wrong, so I did some more research and it seemed as though that the modem aspect of my phone must have corrupted.
So I simply went to a verizon store and swapped out my phones (since I couldn't find a fixed modem).
The other fix of deleting via the privacy wipe definitely worked though.
Thanks everyone!
i500 fascinate too many patterns
what I did I turn the phone off
then turn it on ones the one verizon animation goes of it asks for the email and pass so start hitting home button as fast as you can and sometimes emergency button till it takes you to the main many do not stop till al the icons load up

Respectfully I have to disagree. Sharing a new solution to an old problem cannot be a bad thing. maybe 6+ months from now it will save someones bacon without having to start a new thread for it
Rooted My GT-P7510 (WiFi) a few days ago following these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971
Flashed with Team Kang ICS Rom. Everything seemed to be working in order until today when I tried to hook the USB to the PC to move some videos over to my Tab. Problem is, it will not recognize the Tab at all. I tried re-downloading Kies Air with no luck. I then decided to go back to stock configuration and unroot the Tablet. Well since I can't pull the original file from my PC to do this I'm kinda screwed. To make matters worse I decided to do a clean install by doing a factory data reset 3X, Wipe cache 3X, and Wipe Dalvek Calche 3X, then reboot. Well, that all went fine until trying to setup the Tab again. I try to sign into my g mail account but, upon initial setup I get this message:
Can't establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues call customer support.
I'm connecting to my home WiFi so I don't need to worry about it being a data issue. Everything else in the house is working fine.
So now I'm trying to figure out how to unroot the tab and without the internet or way a to get the PC to recognize it. I pretty much have a $400 paper wait. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!
I think the best you can do is use odin to flash stock firmware. Go to www.sammobile.com, download the right firmware four your device and flash away!!

Have you enabled MTP data transfer?
Go to settings- storage- options [Top right corner] - USB computer connection- and see if MTP is checked or unchecked. It should be checked in order for the device to be recognized.
Hope this helps.

I solved my issue by restoring Lollipop (v.39) with the tool from the wiko website and then performing the update again; the phone started again (at v.41) and I was able to download Marshmallow from the next system update.
Issue was probably caused by some configuration or application.
Still slowly downloading Marshmallow now, so cannot say anything about the next update, but I guess that will go well, since the phone is reset now.
Just to follow up: Marshmallow is working fine on my Wiko Fever, much better than Lollipop. Amazing update.
Instructions for others after having read some comments from other people experiencing issues with the upgrade:
- BACKUP all your data before upgrading from Lollipop to Marshmallow, as if you would buy a new phone; I luckily did, as I wanted to set the microSD from removable to internal
- remove the microSD and (after having a backup of all your data as per step above) format the card as FAT32 on your PC; better to have a clean MicroSD card for after the upgrade I think
- reboot the phone in recovery mode and do a: wipe cache+reset to factory settings
- once the phone is reset and started, proceed with upgrading to Marshmallow
- don't know if needed after the upgrade to do an additional wipe cache+factory settings reset, doesn't harm to do it though
- be unhappy for the hours lost in restoring the phone data + apps + reconfigure everything
- be happy of the improved phone software
Questions upon questions.
So, i got the notification for the update last week, and i saved it until today to install it. The file downloaded was just 7 mb, i had enough battery for the intallation of the update (30% recomended by the software), something got messed up and an error message with the dead android character appeared. I know i lost all my things contacts and sd card... tried to hard reset the damn thing and nothing. I already googled the problem and i found nothing similar to what i get, i'm stuck in the recovery screen and the phone doenst shut down, every time i force it, it just boots back up after 15 30 seconds. I got to be honest i tought it was just another update but aparently its a "new" operating androind system. They could have told me with a update log or something...
Last week on Thursday, I allowed Verizon to install their Software Update 21 (April 2020.) It made it as far as the going through the optimizing apps and then was stuck in a boot loop. The phone would be usable for about a minute, then would freeze, and then reboot. If I clicked on the System Update option in settings, it would say that a system update was in progress. I chatted with Verizon, and they ended up telling me that the only way to stop the update was to do a factory reset, which I am doing everything I can not to do that as I don't want to lose my data.
I changed it into maximum power mode and it did stop the update for that time being and I was able to use the phone, texting, etc. This allowed me to at least connect the phone to my computer to backup all of the directories. After many reboots, on Friday it finally stopped doing the update and gave me an error which I think was 410. It thought it was updated, though did show as failed. When checking for updates, it said it was the current version. Twice I was able to get the phone to stop by freezing when going to the app and stopping some programs (sadly, I was not able to remember the exact combination that worked) which allowed me to use the phone like normal. All this while, I was uninstalling a large amount of the apps that I had installed hoping that would minimize whatever may have been causing the problem.
Went to each of the google and samsung apps, stopped, disable, and reverted them all back to factory defaults. Guess that was a bad idea, from then on I received an error as soon as the phone started which caused it to go directly into recovery mode. I chatted with samsung and they thought it might be a hardware issue. I still think it is related to their software update, so not a hardware issue.
By using Odin, I loaded the firmware from March 2020, and when it rebooted, it did go as far as optimizing the apps, though anytime it booted up, it would never get past the white verizon loading screen. It took me hours before I discovered that Odin was failing to load the firmware on the phone as the Windows 10 laptop only had USB 3.0 ports which don't always work with Odin, and ended up being successful using my old Windows XP laptop as the USB 2.0 ports worked fine. After a bit hanging on the verizon loading screen, it would reboot and never went past. I have been able to load the March and April 2020, though none of them will ever get past that white verizon loading screen. I did see something say that in loading TWRP, I could possibly do a full backup of the phone which is what I would like to do.
One time I only loaded the AB file for a different version than I had loaded, and it was the first time it went beyond the white screen, only to tell me that the verification failed and it would need for me to do a factory reset. I was able to reboot the phone without actually doing the reset.
I have read many posts here and the forums on androidcentral, and with so many things, I really needed to post to get guidance from people here that can point me in the right direction for any other things that I can try. As you have read, doing everything that I can to get the phone working by keeping my data. Any help would really be appreciated.
I got pixel 6 2 months ago .. when I unboxed I couldn't connect to wifi cause it couldn't find any wifi network ... After February update the problem still remains even after March update... I can connect by putting my device in airplanemode then reboot the device and my device can connect to any wifi without any problem and I can switch airplamode off and still connected ... Who has this bug too van we find a fix for it .. and thanx..
I just got my Pixel 6 about a week ago and don't have this issue. The phone came with the Jan update and I updated to the March update (skipped Feb update because of its issues). Since this is likely a software issue, I'm thinking a factory reset (without restoring from backup) may help you?

Before the big hassle of resetting the phone, maybe try a smaller hassle first. When a network device has trouble looking up names it could be time to flush the router's DNS cache. For home routers this usually means a factory reset if the firmware doesn't have the option.
have you tried a network reset back to default values?
i cant remember where i saw it, but its a feature
Ive tried every method from network reset to factory reset to full flash firmware .... Nothing happened ... Same problem still there
Is this only happening with one access point? If yes, maybe the AP has a configuration which is not suitable for ur phone.
I personally never experienced any WiFi issues since I have the mobile.
Cheers
Tom
I was going to say much the same - find a friend/family AP to test with to compare.
I tried another 5 ap...still problem
