It is ur device and it should be ur choise. Nothing comes for free, u will have to take risk. Though I would recomend using global stable rom to unlock bootloader unofficially.

I unlocked unofficially and it's easy and safe as long as u follow the procedure exactly. Also install mi PC suit so that all the required drivers are there..
Guys install kingroot app they are researching root method and will be done in the next few days cheers!

I would say no, it's not safe by reading many complains after unlocking, bricks etc.
Although the risk is high, if you are careful enough and never flash official ROM without deleting the bootloader, your phone should be safe and sound.
Even if you have brick your phone, you could always use the testing point for hard reflash. Of course this method is your last resort and could be quite unsafe to do so.

Yes xiaomi.eu Rom is good, i have it too. You must unlock bootloader before install but thats easy.

Hey dr4kendroid, so my Note 4 will be arriving on Friday, and from what i've been reading, i think i'll flash .eu rom on it as soon as i unbox it.
Only one problem : the instructions found so far seem a bit unclear. So, i've read you already have it installed, can u give a little guidance please ? Thanks !

Sure, you need a valid Mi-Account from Xiaomi to do that . Description can be found in the "how to install" from xiaomi.eu ROM.

Just about to try it now, got permission 3 days after applying for unlocking.
I live in Syria and all we have limited options for phones so I was very excited to learn that a xiaomi dealer started selling a couple of models one of them being the Redmi Note 3 specially with my 4 years old Nexus 5 battery almost dying so I payed 200$ to buy this phone which is A LOT of money here only because I noticed how much Roms and Mods it has and now after about 10 days of buying it I still get the error when trying to unlock the boot loader at 50% "Current account is different from the account info on the device" even after trying all the tutorials I found about turning gps and find my phone and locating the phone on the map and using the developer Rom still the same result.
I really really need root and having the phone without even the ability to root makes it unusable but selling the phone will lose me most of the price since the brand is unknown in my country so I have to sell for much less than what I bought for
I'm writing this just to ask the xda people is there ANY way at all to save me from selling the phone because I like it but I just can't be without root I'm willing to pay money just please any solution
if there's nothing I'll just sell and probably never buy a Xiaomi product again in my life I know Xiaomi doesn't care but I just had to say it because I'm so angry
You don't need root to have the opportunity to install custom roms all you need is unlocked bootloader. You should unlock it unofficially, because i have been doing it too.
Have you flashed the developer rom from the updater app? (from the phone itself)
You first need to have this rom on the device in order to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe all your phone's data.
@mshtob You have to wait 7 days more after getting unlock permissions. Unofficial version have some flaws,do read more about it. I recommend you to go back locked bootloader after 1month then try unlocking official way. Also when unlocked unofficially, do cross check before flashing firmware as some firmwares lock device. It will create more problems for u.

Stop getting mad like an underage kid my friend, you just need to unlock your bootloader officially being in a official ROM and it works without problems because I didt it a lot of times in different versions with the official method.
If you don't like Xiaomi don't buy their phones. Also 200 dollars isn't a lot, you will pay a lot of stuff in your life. Phones are a need, not a toy to install custom roms. If you like to test ROMs and stuff I encourage you to test with your Nexus 5 or get another Nexus/Motorola.
I also have a Nexus 5 btw.
After unlock unofficially you have to delete EMMC appsboot. bin in firmware update folder in any miui rom with the help of RAR App from play store, which relock your phone. And use this patched twrp

That's pretty cool but i already have twrp and already switched between several roms so I'm not sure i need this anymore

Hey everybody, I had recently purchased a Redmi Note 4 (SD).
I had applied for bootloader unlock permission and was granted it. I also switched to the Dev version of MIUI. I have enabled OEM unlocking, but under MIUI Unlock status section, when I try add account and device, I get an error code 86012 followed by a Chinese error message. Due to this, the Mi Flash application fails at 50%. I have attached a screenshot of the error below
Any help or explanation to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If I recollect correctly, it was 5 days. Just try once everyday. You might get it sooner.

I didn't reformat it everyday. Just plugged it in everyday and checked if it would unlock the bootloader. After a few days of trying, voila it unlocked on the 5th day

If you want to stick to MIUI Global Beta don't flash TWRP. Otherwise in my opinion LineageOS 14.1 is really nice if you like a minimalist ROM

How you switched roms? I mean how did you get miui developer rom? I also wanted the developer version of miui but as far as i know one needs to make a dfc cable or unlocked bootloader. So did you used dfc cable.

The dev version of the ROM can be installed using the updater app. You can download the zip and from the updater app select it as the update package. For this you need not use the dfx cable or have an unlocked bootloader.
The only scenario where the cable is needed is when you want to access fastboot when the bootloader is locked and you use EDL mode to flash

Hi guys. I was wondering how could I root my device, been trying on my own for days and couldnt get it done. Im on Android 10 and my version is SM-G9650. So you say you can't get root done but then at the end you claim to only have unlocked the bootloader. I'm presuming you've searched XDA for the numerous rooting guides available that provide step by step instructions? If your using a guide then you should be past the unlocking of the boot loader and there would be some step you are stuck on? Can you tell us that step?

Me too have been trying to root my device and install a custom ROM. but everytime I root my device i lose my mobile network completely.... I said everytime as i flash the stock firmware again and boom it's back. but disappears as soon as i root it... where am i going wrong can you help please?
