Hello Folks,
I am one of the organisers of a developer conference happening from the 24th-27th Feb in Barcelona as part of MWC. As part of the conference we have two CyanogenMod folks running a workshop showing you how to setup the tools and source code for CyanogenMod to build a new ROM. I believe this has never been done before so a great opportunity to learn how to join the CyanogenMod community.
If you are in the Barcelona area and want to come along I have a limited number of free passes to give away. If you ping me a private message telling me why you want to come along I'll let you know if there is a pass for you.
Wednesday 26th February
A Day in the Life of a CyanogenMod Developer
Room 6, Level 3, Hall M5
10:30 to 12:30 (10:30amto 12:30pm)
Speakers: Abhisek Devkota, Shane Francis; Community Manager, Device Maintainer, CyanogenMod
This exclusive workshop is an interactive CyanogenMod session for developers. Learn about the features and framework of CyanogenMod as well as understanding how the end to end development process works. This is not just an overview but you get hands on with the CyanogenMod code to make changes and build a new custom ROM so that you can become part of the CyanogenMod community.
The workshop will cover:
Bringing up your device for CyanogenMod
An overview of the features and framework of CyanogenMod
Coding a changeset feature for CyanogenMod
Uploading your code change to a gerrit instance
Compiling your code changes to generate a CyanogenMod ROM
Unfortunately as a new poster I can't post a link but if you go to wip dot org and follow the link to our WIPJam you can find out more.
Thanks, Rod.
Hello friends, I am writing so that together we will achieve something that will benefit us all.
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!

Source: official website of "Mokee open source" in the section about
This ROM is very good, delivers great performance gains on our devices, I personally used in my previous smartphone (Galaxy S2 i9100) and if not for spoiling that I still continue to use thanks to Mokee.
So now, this group has developed a community Mokee google plus (which I can not give the link, and that despite much I visit this forum for years, recently dared to enroll today, and rules are rules) You can find this easily by typing in google "open source community Mokee google plus".
In the section "Device request" please discuss who want open source Mokee for Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and maybe if we are many, we consider and develop this excellent ROM for the device.
I and several others already did, but the more the merrier.
Cheers
I think that to create an open source rom, you should have access to the full mtk sources and model drivers, which is not the case.

but a lots of device very rigorous with his privacy code have mokee (like Sony), maybe with something port from other device or other method, but i'm not expert, thanks for comment
Obviously the more the better.
If they are fully working!
I remember using the Mokee ROM on my galaxy s2 skyrocket. Brilliant ROM i hope we can get one for the Redmi Note 2.
As we all know Xiaomi released KitKat source code for cancro last year, it certainly helped devs. But since the release of marshmallow there has been some significant changes in kernel. Due to Xiaomi not releasing latest source code, it has been a tough road for developers who work hard to bring out the best in our device. Even cm kernel is based on KitKat, it seems. So I decided to create this thread to get suggestions for moving forward with getting source code for our developers
Btw I created a poll in miui forum to get their user's opinion and numbers
Any suggestion on this issue is welcome
Agree with you. I rate the miui post.
The users with miui account have to comment it and rate.
Thanks

I'm looking into the possibility of getting Resurrection Remix Marshmallow AOSP ROM running on the Galaxy A5 2017 device of Model Number(s):
A520F (Single SIM Variant)
A520F/DS (Dual SIM Variant)
I've made time available on my hands as i'm a fan of the ROM and it would be great running it up and functional on this device.
I'm hoping this post increases popularity as to attract experienced developers so i can get all the help i need since building an AOSP ROM such as Resurrection Remix from sctrach is very challenging and time consuming.
The Official A5 2017 AOSP (Devs Only) Whatsapp Group is available for all of the developers who would like to join it in helping me bring this Project to life. If your interested in joining and helping, simply post down below your intention in doing so along with your International Contact Number.
Btw here's the Resurrection OS Marshmallow Source:
https://github.com/ResurrectionRemix/platform_manifest/blob/marshmallow/README.mkdn
And here's our device's kernel source which was released by Samsung:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=A520F
I wanna too, for A3 2017
Wasn't there something on the Whatsapp group about collecting donations for an experienced dev to buy this phone so he could port the rom? I would love to see Resurrection Remix on my A520W. Maybe if a post was made on the forum about donating, more people would see it.
I think that it's will be never possible ,because "Exynox" cpu (drivers problems.....like others devices, like some galaxy note...) ...
But it was truth in the past ....and maybe i was wrong now ,i don't know the last development ...

Ha ok ,good new for source .:good:
And yes...pity...samsung (exept "s" series) is less and less interested ...
In the past i loved customs roms but now it's maybe good for low and some middle devices but i think that it's a good "regression" ,we loose some good stock options and functiins (like finger print...etc...)... don't have the full exploitation of photo ...less performance.....etc...(samsung stock patent !!!) But yes....with some customs we can change the size, position and color of the hour,battery...etc...lol ! And cm/lineage sourced is not as "stable" as stock firmware ...
Lineage OS in on the horizon. Maybe this will help inspire other developers to take up the Resurrection Remix project or develop their own custom ROMs. But good things are coming in the future.

Well I'm in this group and it's been brought up a few times ⟶ https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series-2017/how-to/galaxy-a5-2017-whatsapp-t3561455
Maybe hit up the OP and see if you could get in on the action.

I see the thread has been closed and no more users are being added to the group, how can we keep up to date? I'm very interested in this phone but I'm holding back until I can see that LineageOS has a developer/maintainer.

If you hit me up on WhatsApp I can try and get the OP to add you to the group. I'll talk to him that you're interested in helping out with the development of Lineage. But once Nougat drops, I think the resources will be available on GitHub.
I hope install the rom too man. a5 a520f/ds.

Nougat released.
HELLO COMMUNITY
Today I was talking with a friend and he asked me why I didn't place a thread to kindly ask the Nokia community to help me to get a very simple Nokia 7 plus ($308 USD) for @EnesSastim to start developing for it. So I decided to go ahead and create this little snippet thread on the progress.
BACKGROUND
@EnesSastim is the unofficial maintainer of several GSI ROM projects including Pixel Experience and can work on building the necessary trees to build ROMs, kernels etc.
FUTURE
Nokia now released the code and he now can and wants to work on this device, but he does not want to do it blindly so he needs a device to work.
He will make the tree for our device and help in the development of ROMs
FINANCIAL
Crowdfunding will take place via PayPal donations and I'll post when we reach the value needed to take the most basic device. Taxes and shipping I can back up when it arrives
Just send any amount you can to my PayPal account:
paypal: [email protected]
thakyou!!
