I had bricked my LG OPTIMUS T P509 earlier and was stuck in a never ending loop of LG boot.
Eventually realized i had a bricked phone.
Decided to play around and found KDZ Updater.
After much research and googleing i found the kdz file for the LG OPTIMUS P509 and was able to flash the phone back to Stock again.
It will recovery in Android Recovery 3E and you just do a battery pull and it will boot again.
Will take awhile to boot up but after it does your phone is back with everything stock.
Strangely nothing was erased keeping all my apps intact.
Only downfall, root was lost.
can you direct me to that kdz file or settings. have bricked p509. Now not responding at all'
I can't find kdz anywhere.
Anyone have a link?
I just bricked my LG Optimus P509 T as well Can someone please point me in the right direction to revert back to 100% stock?

Thanks! I had downloaded another version of the translated KDZ program, but I've been unable to have it recognize my bricked Optimus T in "Emergency Mode"
Also I downloaded a original stock ROM from Australia as there are no T-Mobile USA ones available for the LGP509; unless I've missed something?
Let me give this one a try... Thanks!

No luck. The KDZ program crashes the second I try and have it recognize the phone. Using Windows 7 here. Should I try XP?

Manually boot the device into emergency mode before you try to use KDZ. To enter emergency mode, turn off your phone and hold the following three buttons:
Back + Volume Up + Power
You should get a yellow screen that says "Emergency Mode"
Once you get there try to see if your phone is detected by your computer. Let me know how it goes
I am just wondering if I need to shake the device

You can try that if KDZ can't flash the file correctly. But I thought your phone couldn't be detected
i finally figured out how to get CWM installed and working, after a couple of months of fighting with it, off and on. so, i guessed that meant i have my bootloader unlocked - "wrong!".
i deleted some thing that wasn't supposed to be deleted, then the damned cell network and lan network stopped working (keeps saying com.android.phone has stopped). so i was going to put cyanogenmod on it, because i thought that i could, and just be done with the whole "missing apps" crap. it turns out "just because you CAN put CM on it doesn't mean you CAN put CM on it". i bricked it. i have NO options to "load" or "flash" or "boot" any thing when the phone is booting up. i would love some clarification as to what i CAN do from here.
i would rather install CM and be done with all of this, but i'll take any advice that gets rid of the problem. the biggest problem is understanding how to put CM on your phone, or to do any thing at all like that, when you cant get into any kind of recovery / boot menu, even though you ARE rooted... i don't care if i have to install cyanogenmod or some one else's CWM backup, i just don't know HOW to do it - especially with no windows (only linux). it's a rooted p769v20d (originally p769v10g).
thanks

i was going to try some stuff mentioned in other threads, but i don't have access to a windows computer - and i don't think i need to root my phone again any way, considering it is still rooted.

fwiw, regarding the mysterious deleted app:
i lose my internet signal as soon as it says "com.android.phone has stopped", then i get it back again right before it says that message again - it ALSO shows a cell-phone signal right before that message. this repeats over and over and over every few seconds - aggravating as hell...
here's the apps that i still have installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45774770

Nice thread title. That is how I am feeling right now with this phone. I feel like calling tech care and yell at them for a bit to vent. Anyway, why not install fastboot for Linux and flash the ics u and x? I uploaded my u and x folder in the Unlock Bootloader for Noobs thread. Then, flash the 20h.....oh, dang.... sorry. Forgot.... no Windows. Maybe do the built-in restore by holding the volume down, home and power keys?

thanks, but i think i finally got it working. i never knew, after all this time, that after you do the l9recoveryinstaller, at the reboot, there are no cues to tell when when to hit some buttons, and it's not clear what buttons to hit. here's what i did, and, so far, its progress:
1: be rooted
2: install busy box, completely
3: install l9recoveryinstaller
4: reboot
5: after you see the LG logo, hold vol-down until you see the flashing lights (i thought you see the flashing lights and THEN you hit vol-down, but i was wrong).
still fighting to get a rooted rom installed ...
if i choose "install zip from external sdcard" is says:
"finding update ... opening update ... installing update ...installation aborted".
if i choose "restore" instead of "install" it will not let me select any thing, it just keeps saying file not found, when i try to select any further options, whether "restore" or "restore from external sdcard" or "advanced restore from external sdcard". and i already checked to make sure the sdcard was mounted...

I think your phone bootloader is locked, you cannot flash any custom rom zip file. It will soft brick your phone.
Please restore P769 CWM back from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136204. Download backup file and unbzip it. Put extract files in your sdcard /clockworkmod/backup/2013-08-30.12.00.00 folder. Extract file should contain several .img, .tar, .a, .log and .md5

Well correct me if I am wrong, but I guess you "only" deleted some system files, right? Do you remember which ones were the ones? Or at least the folder they were in? Then you only need to extract that stuff from a kdz/ the bin file and push them on your phone using adb or maybe even the dd command.
Maybe if someone is kind enough, he ll probably provide you with the files you need. And cmiiw, but I guess you deleted stuff from /system/app...

However, i would recommend using a portable windows xp (bootable usb)

It's depend on what method you use. You can flash kdz using offline method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
or use LG mobile support tools from LG website. If you choose this you don't need to download any kdz. It'll download kdz automatically from LG server then flash it on your phone. It take about an hour or two.

thats awesome - i wonder if i can get by with using that on wine on linux, instead of borrowing a windows computer... i'm gonna try it...
well, the verdict is in, on this one: i'm screwed. i've tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried, and i can NOT flash this damned phone. it's BRICKED.
i borrowed / hijacked my brother's computer (windows7), all day. i tried a few different things - i even tried the same way i flashed it to update it ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356536 ), which was worthless to unbrick it.
the problem in every case was that every time the damned flasher got so far along it would "lose the connection to the phone". drivers installed, etc, etc, no difference. i suspect its because i couldnt connect it in all the various modes (mtp ptp etc), since the ONLY way it would connect is in "software upgrade mode".
i had to buy another phone, won't have it till tuesday. lesson learned: NEVER buy a phone that didn't come from samsung... you just can't do what you want with them, without a lot of time, patience, experience, and a windows computer.
thanks for all the help.

Did you try to recover your phone with LG mobile support tool. It can reinstall rom in almost any soft-brick case. Please try it if you haven't try it yet. Many people restore their phone by that software. The steps are
- Download LG mobile support tool from LG web site
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run Tool and select recover phone
- Wait about 1-2 hours to download and flash
If it's not hardware problem, this should solve your problem

i never found that on their website, and i looked quite a few times. however, i noticed when i used the b2clientsetup.exe that if i run it without running the shttp server first, that it downloads a support tool from the net, which does not work - keeps saying phone lost connection. not sure if its the same tool.

Yes that tool. In my region, it has download link but for P769 it has request repair service.
Download from http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe

yeah, that's exactly what i did, but it would keep "losing the connection to the phone". not sure why, but i suspect it was a driver issue - and i installed the latest drivers, which made no difference. i also went back and installed older drivers, which made no difference. i must just be lucky as hell, or some thing .

In my country (RO) there are some GSM Repair Centers. You should not give up and you should go to them. Par example, I flashed an HTC Mozart when the battery was dead and I bricked it (idiot, I know). I went to a shop like the ones mentioned above and I think he said that he has to flash the phone using a JTAG or something like that (I know that he has to open the phone to reach it's motherboard, solder some **** out there and... flash I guess). The whole thing was about ~20E. Anyway, keep digging, maybe you'll eventually find something that works for you. If not, go to someone who can "force flash" it and maybe you can save the device.
I was trying to install a custom ROM and did not know I needed an unlocked bootloader, as I used ROMs on a S4 without doing any extra work.
Anyway, so when I attempted that, my Optimus L9 rebooted and gave me the LG logo with the "Security Error" words below it. It's stuck on that now. I tried using the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it gets stuck on downloading new software. The progress bar disappears quickly, so I'm sure it's not downloading.
I tried leaving it to download for around 45 minutes, but it was stuck on the same screen when I came back, with no progress bar. It can't be that it's taking long, I have decent Internet (150/75). I'm afraid of leaving it for hours as the device does heat up.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? I tried calling LG and the woman who was there to help me was rude and treated me like an idiot, only to give me the solution of sending it in. PLEASE help me!!

It's always best to include your device model when asking questions like this. There are four models of the L9 and the all have different quirks.
A factory hard-reset or use the 'Recovery' option in the LG Support tool. Only things I can think of at the moment with a lack of details.
Did you back anything up? If not, not much else to do other than try what I've suggested.
This post may also be of some interest.
Advice::
Never assume anything. Research is your friend I had an LG Optimus One, was easy to mod, root, etc. I bought this L9 ( P769 ) on the assumption that it would be similar. Boy was I wrong. However, I did the research before attempting to do anything with the L9.

I really regret doing what I did :crying:. It's definitely a huge lesson for me.
My model: LG Optimus L9 MS769 (back cover says P769?)
If a factory hard-reset means holding the home button, voIume UP button, and power button, then I already did that but I did not reach the robot.
In the LG support tool, after I enter S/W upgrade mode, it says the software version is V10D and that there is an upgrade available. When I start the upgrade, it goes through the first step but when I get to the second step, it doesn't download I think. I have an image but I can't link to it since I have under 10 posts.

Their network is horribly slow. I've heard of people waiting 2 hours. In addition the tool appears to freeze. However, it's still operating.
I don't prefer this method because of the time.
Learn how to use the unofficial fastboot & offline flash.
Or just keep waiting for that program to finish.

So it's normal? The reason I thought otherwise was because when I searched, I saw 0 people with the stuck/long download issue and figured it was just me. I didn't want to risk my device even further as I am aware that it has been soft-bricked, so there is a little hope available. Should I let it sit for 3-4 hours and let it over-heat?
I attempted the fastboot method but my device was not showing under the Devices section. I do not have a "Other Devices" section when I get to the step.
I am trying the offline flash method now, although I can't find a working V10D KDZ.

At this point you don't have anything else to loose. I honestly can't say yes or no. I think all pertinent partitions will be updated to the newer version. I've never used this method so I cannot say 100%.

As in LG Support Tool? No I don't think it will since your phone has been altered with unofficial methods. I could be wrong tho.
Just realized something else strange, IMHO, my P769 came with Android 4.1.2 ( JellyBean ) and you say you were on stock ICS?
Just out of curiosity was it a WalMart purchase? They're still advertised as having ICS 4.0.4. Last update I got was to from V20G to V20H which is what I'm on now.

I mean that in order for the KDZ flash to work you must do some edits in the host file so that you can do the offline fix, I did it but it won't work as the tool crashes while connecting to the device.
My device also came with 4.1.2. It did not come with ICS. But when I open the support tool it says V10D. I bought my L9 from an official MetroPCS store

UPDATE: I'm trying to use the fastboot method and I think I get why the device isn't showing up. When I initially plug it in (no battery), it appears under Other Devices but then the list refreshes and it disappears. Anything I can do?

Yep. Hurry up and right click on it before it disappears and select "Update Driver". You need to manually point Device Manager to the usb_driver folder in the fastboot tools folder. You may have to do that a couple times. If successful, unplug USB from device wait a couple seconds and plug back in. This will reinstall the drivers just in case they didn't take the first time.

I got fastboot to work!!! I got the inverted screen and all. Now the problem is that I can't flash the phone . I keep trying a KDZ I downloaded. The supporter tool provided in the zip keeps trying to connect to the phone, the UpTest one loads the new Support Tool and it crashes, and the KDZ UPD tool gets stuck on unpacking KDZ and says no phone found.

What is the error LGUP is giving you, please post a screenshot of the error you are receiving inside LGUP, also try a different KDZ file to see if that's the problem.
Look here for KDZ files :
lg-firmwares.com/lg-us992-firmwares/
it's possible your misc partition is "corrupted".. see the post here where I helped someone get out of something similar: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70446385&postcount=70
but that user could still boot into android to do those steps.. if you can't you may be stuck. if stuck your only option is to play around with different LGUP versions and DLL/UPPERCUT combos.. or hax.

Hi,
I have the LG G5 H831 unlocked, I was having Nougat since I got it and it was working just fine.
Few days ago I got Oreo Upgrade, it's nice and smooth but only but only problem is that for an unknown reason my mobile data is not working anymore. I tried everything I could, resetting the phone, removing APN and add it again...
I'm not familiar with flashing the LG, I used to play with Samsung, so do you know if I can downgrade to Nougat? if yes, with what tools and from where I can get the firmware.
Thanks

Yes should be like that.
Power Off the LG G5
Connect a USB Cable to the PC
While the Device is Off, Press and Hold the Volume Up Button
Continue Holding the Volume Up Button and Plug in the USB Cable

I'm not able to go to Download mode, I tried several times, when I plug the USB while I'm holding Volume Up, it just show the battery charging percentage, but don't switch on or go to download mode.
Is all the phones able to go to download mode?
Is there another way to go to download mode, from an application ???
Thanks

Can you try simply to find modem zip for your model and try to flash it, maybe this resolve yor mobile data problem.
I finally succeeded to downgrade my phone to Nougat and Mobile data is working fine now. The download mode problem I had was only due to the cable I was using, I changed cable and it works, then I used LGUP to flash the Nougat kdz.
I don't know what was wrong with Oreo, I liked it but mobile data not working is not helpful.

You need to be more specific.
It's the H831 model?
Was it an upgrade from Nougat to Oreo?
did you reset your phone?
Do a hard reset and try again.

You are having which OS now? Nougat and it's working?
For my case it was working on Nougat but when upgraded to Oreo, I got no signal, I don't know why.
This doesn't happen to everyone. So I can't say.

Oh it should work, but I'll stick with Oreo, I believe it's better.
Also the process to downgrade is not straight forward, you need to have the right files for the right model and the right software...

It might be late but still......Follow these steps:
1) Turn on Mobile Data
2) Turn on Data Roaming (Yes it is the most important step)
3) Wait for few seconds
4) Once the data starts working turn off data roaming

Strange steps, mainly the roaming part
Anyway, I'm back to Nougat for now but if one day i change to Oreo and still have the issue, I'll try it.
Thanks.
