Hi all,
I have a Teclast X80h and I flashed the Android 5.0 v7 mirek's ROM to it. It's original stock ROM was 4.4 Jellybean.
With the new firmware the display resolution and the touchscreen resolution is not the same.
If I move my finger on the screen then the contact indicator moving only on a pretty smaller area, maybe 20% of the display size.

See the attached picture. (If I touch at the big dots, it reacts at the small dots inside the yellow marked area.)
It is almost useless. At the moment I navigate with a mouse on the OTG.
What I tried:
Download a calibration software
Failed it. I can not found any. Only sensitiveness calibrators exists for Android. On Windows You can calibrate coordinates, but on Android... Somewhere I read that the calibration data is hardcoded in the kernel.
Compare the stock ROM with the newly installed one, search for differences on drivers or config files.
The .idc files are the same in /system/usr/idc, and the .drvb files are the same in /system/vendor/firmware.
Modify the .idc file in /system/usr/idc
I found some content at Android's site about the Input Device Configuration files.
I tried the following parameters:
touch.scale (but it is corresponds to contact area size)
raw.x.max (the maximum of the raw value received from the touchscreen)
output.width (the displqy coordinate to associate to the max raw value)
Anyway I tried almost all touch.* raw*. and output.*
Nothing helps.
BTW the uploaded firmware was created for another but very similar model X98 Air.
This firmware must work on this model as shown in a Youtube video "X80h Android 5".
Note: I have the skills to extract a ROM or decompile an .apk!
Should I replace a driver? Or is there a handful software?
Should I modify another config file? Or the kernel?
Thanks guys
The picture not shows. You trying change the lcd density? if u port rom for other device whith more screen resolution, and not change the density, the icons and apps shows different in size.
go to build.prop and find :
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=xxx
compare whith stock rom and edit same the stock, for example for 480x854 resolution
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
then the resolution now shows normal.
Hi xdedeone,
You are right about there was a wrong value at this property.
I tried it, but the only thing hapened is the resolution of the LDC changed, but the original problem is already there. The response of the touch is in a scaled down area.
Touchscreen recalibration
@Woohoo82 did you manage to sort this out? I'm having the exact same problem. All properties in /system/usr/idc/fts_ts.idc make no difference except touch.deviceType (which allows me to use a pointer instead..)

Hi all,
The ROM you have installed is not for your device. Somehow the ROM or Firmware you installed got matched with your chip-set, so there is no problem with the software, but the problem persists in hardware, I mean the touch screen digitiser. I think, there is no way to make the touch work on the whole area of the screen. Either you have go back to the previous ROM, or if you are quite patient then you can edit the ROM & change the resolution of your digitiser. I don't know it will be possible or not, but downgrading to the previous ROM will solve your problem.

Hi Jony,
I solve the problem by flashing a newer ROM to the device. I found an Android 6.0 ROM for this model.

A good try would be to adapt this keyboard on a 16 keys niki and see if it works.
As anyone tried something likely or has an opinion on this ?
Thanks and keep up the good work, I'm often just watching these theads
I am absolutely willing to try it,
is this only this only the keys or the electronics included (switches etc.) ?
I can't see any connectors ...
Additionally, i think there must be some kind of software mod so that the operating system nows the right keyboard layout to apply.
Or are they compatible ? (i.e. can you flash the same rom on 16 and 20 key models and os switches automatically ? ..)
Did someone open the Niki before ?
I'm absolutely willing to try yo as soon as i get an azerty keyboard (e.g. french and not us
I would be very interested to know if this is possible.
AFAIK the software on 16 / 20 key versions is identical, ie. a rom from a 16key device can be flashed on a 20key and the keyboard works fine.
I suppose what we need now are disassembly shots of the Nike showing the keyboard in detail.
...
Don't think it will work.
In the NAND are so many references about the 16Key or 20 Key version.
I bet it would be possible. Theoretically, all you would have to do is replace the keyboard and then re-map the keys under the keypad. Unless the buttons under the keypad are layed out differently of course.
I'm sure there is software somewhere that could do this.
Has anybody tried it??
Nixu
From my understanding, the drivers for the 16 key Nike and the 20 key Nike are included in every ROM so it should only be a matter of instructing the ROM which driver to use for the keyboard and replacing the actual keypad with the 20 button one and you should be set.
I lucked out. The Nike I bought off ebay is already a 20 button model so this doesn't really apply to me but I think this is an interesting project.
EDIT:: After doing some more digging it doesn't seem this will ever work.
Here is a photo of the 16 key and also a photo of the 20 key. As you can clearly see, the buttons on the left and right of the key are larger(twice the size) of the ones on the left and right side of the 20 key so that means that the ribbon cable under the keypad would need to changed and then someone would have to figure out a way to get the device to recognize the new ribbon. This shouldn't be too much of an issue as seeing as how ALL ROMs have both drivers.
ok...i can confirm, hardware is different...argh
just ordered an oem keyboard...
ok...i have the 20key keyboard now, just installed it, booted into wm, QW launches internet explorer ,AS launches start menu (like the 16key version), L is backspace, ZX is message, OP DEL ENTER ALT doesn't do anything. so i hard reset the dual, and after that the same thing still happens
any ideas, anyone?
...
we played with the PID (product information Digit) and it loaded some
different keyboard layouts. u should be able to patch this xD but u need time, to find out what u have to patch...
The other thing is... after booting in the OS there was the right Keymapping,
i think u only have to patch the keypad driver^^

ok...can you tell me how? or point me to somewhere that talks about this. i am still quite new to windows mobile (only really started you use my touch dual for about a week, never used wm before...always been a palmos user)
just to try my luck, i reflashed the rom (tom's rom, v2.1.3, WWE) but that doesn't help. the keymapping is still wrong.
thank you very much!

Hi everyone,
I need some help with my Android radio.
A couple of days ago i bought an Android 4.2 2DIN car radio: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191227453040

}
The buttons on the front panel at the side of the screen did function properly, but after a factory reset the buttons do not work anymore, and I can't get them to work. The only 3 things that do work are volume, power and cd eject.
How I managed to wreck it:
First thing I did, was getting root.
For that, I followed the instructions at this thread (using Root Master):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660662
After a succesfull root, I forgot making a back-up
I installed "[root] live logcat": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.livelogcat
After installing it, I restarted the device and I saw the logcat boot animation, but after the animation finished I always ended up with a white screen... (http://youtu.be/oPyfJUHzZXQ)
I managed to recover from this by executing a system recovery from recovery mode.
Now I have a functional rooted android device, but somehow the front panel buttons aren't working anymore.
I also tried "CarAudioService" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53678587&postcount=1179) but nothing gets logged.

Thanks for your reply Warlold711.
What kind of strange was, is that I could execute a system restore without even putting any rom / image / MCU file on the system. So it restored something that was already on the device when bought... Is there a specific MCU I should try?
Does anyone else has an idea how to recover from this?
3514
Or if someone knows what MCU to use for this radio. I have searched the forums and found this thread but I haven't found out what MCU to use for sure.
* bump * Maybe someone knows the download link of the MCU 'MTCB-GS-V1.91' so I can re-apply it to my device?
After another search I've found the appropriate MCU at the following link:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BxmzvLRI7-eNeVA2SWkwM1pLZ28&usp=drive_web
I installed "V_2.02_GS_(20140827)" and now the physical buttons are working again!
Hello. I just watched your youtube video. Were you ever able to get live logcat to work correctly? Thanks.

Hi. Unfortunately I haven't. To be honest I didn't even retry after system recovery, scared of wrecking it again I didn't think it was worth trying again.
Playing DVD disc in fullscreen on Android 4.4 Car radio
I just replaced the factory installed radio with an Android 4.4 car radio unit with DVD player and Navigation. Everything seems to work fine, except the video playback from DVD discs. It seems that the video playback is in fullscreen mode. It has 2 black bars at the top and bottom, and the video seems squeezed vertically. Anyone has similar problem? Is there a fix for this? I noticed that in the video player, there's a button to resize the video screen, but there isn't one in the DVD player app. Can I replace the current DVD player with another one? If yes, which one and how? Thanks.
Hi All! I just got a new phone... It's a Chinese phone with no apparent brand.
Unfortunately I tried to root it and while using SP Flash Tool and MK Droid Tools I bricked it , Now i've been trying for days flashing different roms for similar phones in the hopes that one will work. One kinda worked but was the wrong resolution and I couldn't use it... I don't even remember which one it was.
Before doing this I tried to back up my images, but I am an idiot and didn't do it right. I have a scatter file and some other images from my original rom... but nothing beyond the recovery partition. Here's the list of files I have from the original phone:
MT6572_Android_scatter.txt
preloader.bin
MBR
EBR1
uboot.img (renamed to lk.img)
boot.img
factory_NONmodified_recovery.img
nvram.bin
pro_info
protect_f
protect_s
seccfg
I have also attached the scatter file in case anyone finds it useful.
If anyone can help me find the missing files or a different factory image, I'd greatly appreciate it! Below are specific details about the phone... maybe there's one that you guys know about that fits it? Also, if i try a different rom... which parts of my original rom should I still flash in, and which parts of the new rom should I flash?
Thanks alot!!

How do i find out what's going on whie the device is booting? it gets to the splash screen, i can get to recovery as well, but I want to know what's going on during the boot process... adb logcat does nothing but say -waiting for device-
Is there another way?
Thanks again!
I wasn't sure wether I should create a new post or just reply here, so i just went with reply
After looking I was finally able to get a dump of the stock rom from someone with an identical phone, and in the spirit of openness, I'd like to share it with you guys if anyone ever needs it.

You can flash this rom using SP Tools. Also, the phone will not boot immediately after flashing this rom... first you need to start the phone in (bootloader?) mode by holding the vol. Down and power. Once you're there do a factory wipe... technically this should be done in recovery mode, but idk how to do it with this rom because there's no "Yes" option when recovery asks you if you're sure about a factory wipe. Maybe it's hidden with some sort of key combo? idk, do it how you prefer.
Well, thanks, if you have questions let me know
I took some time and edited the original media_profiles.xml. I managed to turn off jpeg compression which should in return rise the quality of pictures taken by our Honor 7's. There are less artifacts in the pictures and they're a little bit better in case of quality, I think. But I guess You should try and see for Yourselves if it really works better, so feedback is really appreciated.
Modification is based off of the B320 Marshmallow rom for PLK-L01 but it should work on any other variant as well as on Android Lollipop - I also need feedback on this.
Requirements:
-TWRP Recovery
-zip package with modified media_profiles.xml downloaded from here:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=5BCB034BE136FE72!1093&authkey=!AC2X7f57mBjoZ0s&ithint=file,zip
What to do:
1. Transfer the zip into Your Phone (internal or external, doesn't really matter)
2. Boot Your Phone into TWRP Recovery
3. Flash the mod package.
4. Reboot Your Phone. From now on, there should be no jpeg compression.
Effects (no compression on the right):

WARNING!!! Be aware that turning off compression for images results in increasing file size of photos (even double)!!!
I don't take responsibility for any bricked device!!
Will this apply to the stock camera app only or system-wide?
It changes the way system handles any codecs so I think it should work with 3rd party camera apps.
TWRP is for android 5 (Emui 3) firmware B180 or android 6 (Emui 4) firmware B320 ?

I attached here the original file if someone want do a rollback.
(For newbie: only copy this file in system/etc and not flash with TWRP)
Yeah, I tried but the camera doesn't seem to support that kind of bitrate and it stays stock even though there are changes in mediaprofiles. It won't break anything, don't worry.
I've already tried Video bitrate stay to stock, but audio bitrate is increased.

Only thing that comes to my mind is that You guys use different Honor 7 version. I have a PLK-L01. Maybe if You have any other version like PLK-AL10 it does something to the wifi, but as far as I'm concerned, it does not touch the wifi nor any of its settings.
I have too PLK-L01 and wifi dont work for me.
