Let me tell you this is a great forum, with a lot of great work by developers to android.
So my problem is that i ported a ROM from a similar device, but only the camera
isn´t working. Ril, wireless, Bluetooth
is working.
Don´t know if it´s kernel or the rom itself... I have both Rom´s...
Can some Dev could take a look?

Hi thank you for reply.
I already did that, still get the "can´t connect to camera" error...
The problem is camera icon is missing right on
the first boot, so maybe is something with kernel??
does it have camera apk?

Which rom you are porting? and kernel or chipset?
try to change these also

The Rom im porting is cm12.1 for Alcatel 7043 5.1.1 snapdragon 410 msm8916
my device is Vodafone smart prime 6, there is also a cm12.1 rom for this device but has many bugs and drain a lot of battery
that´s why i want to port this one is better from 7043y... Android 5.1.1
Help.....
pls some Dev with extra free time, that could take a look at both Rom´s...???

I downloaded the Miui unofficial rom for my Wildfire S ( Before that I had CM10)
I know that the camcorder didn't work on cm10 because the driver info wasn't released. On Miui it works, but when I tried to 'Tango' video call my partner, my video went like it did on cm10 (Just showed lines) I was wondering if anyone has a fix for this? or would anyone be able to fix it?
Also my voice recorder comes up with an error/force closed when ever I click the record button!?!
If all of the above is impossible, are there any other roms like CM or Miui that are good, available for the Wildfire S, and don't have these bugs..??

try to disassemble original framework.jar and miui framework.jar, and copy from base framework.jar/smali/android/media/MediaRecorder(all, that started MediaRecorder).smali to same folder in miui's framework.jar
Hello, I have cm7 running on my Samsung Dart. I ported this CM7 Rom from the Samsung Galaxy Mini:

It booted and got to the setup screen. The problem is that there are black lines in the screen and everything is cut up. I've been pressing things and everything is responding, I just ca't see it. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it? Do I need to change the filenames in system>lib>hw to match the galaxy mini's?

I would recommend replacing the system/lib folder in the Samsung Galaxy Mini port ROM with the system/lib folder of your Samsung Dart base ROM this way your ROM should have the proper graphic libraries and other libraries that should fix your graphic issues. I would also recommend taking a look at this guide that manually explains how to port ROM's.

Even though the guide mentions it for HTC devices it's still work a shot trying this fix for graphic glitches that the guide mentions:
Decompile framework.jar
Change these files with your base
smali\smali\android\os
Environment
SystemProperties
smali\smali\android\view
HardwareCanvas
HardwareRenderer$Gl20Renderer
HardwareRenderer$GlRenderer
HardwareRenderer
Personally I have had success with the guide following the exact steps in the guide I was able to port a ROM or two. Your other option would be to try and build for your device from source.

Rom has bugs, sudden restarts, full of chinease bloatware , looks nice but needs fix. I was surprised it worked on ZTE Z7Max. Please fix restarts, remove bloatware and please change that chinease keyboard to Gboard or stock AOSP. Thanks

Yes, it has some bugs, and I presenced some restarts. The chinese bloatware thing can be easily fixed by removing those apps using "System App Remover". It works
About the keyboard: You can download Gboard normally, you know

there is no problem about Keyboard, but restarts are really annoying. it would be really nice if somebody with skills could fix these problems and upload this ROM here on XDA or to NEEDROM. Thanks anyway :good:
Update: I created a post on needrom so everyone can easely access it. Thanks @Guffeogco for the mirror. I did one as well, so we can get at least a sub mirror
Also, huge kudos to Yayanan for porting an almost stable MIUI for us.

Did someone managed to install Google Camera on Umi Z, 7.1.1 ? I tried many times, but craches everytime..
Interesting dies not show in play store so maybe its not compatible .. Seems most others are so lots if choice is standard app is not for you.

Thank you, but I am looking for the Google Camera because it has special features like a "bokeh" effect with one Camera only...
Moreover, I managed to get it under Umi Z with 6.0 ROM, flashing a Zip file with TWRP; but I didn't find anything like this for 7.1.1 ROM... That's what I would love to find

I don't want to steal someone elses credits and/or work.
I haven't spoken with the author and I'm not aware of all the rules. I fell of the motorcycle when a dog tried to attack me so my hands(palms) are wounded. Feel free to help me on this journey. Finally no more sickening bloated sony rom.

No clue I contacted the author of the rom if it is okay to link his rom in this thread, will ask him if he replies. Not sure if it is an aosp or 7.0 modified to look like one.
I'm just happy we found a non sony rom to work as expected with our phone with minor issues. I did not port the rom just flashed system.img and it seemed to work. No major crashes overheating or anything like that. I know we can replace some files like camera libs so charger to get stuff working properly and maybe fix the settings crash when trying to open about phone with logcat? I know most fixes are listed in porting guide topics so hopefully it will be a piece of cake.
I prefer slim roms over any sony roms. TBH i debloated stock 6.0 rom but the phone was overheating and minor issues so I tried some other roms, i removed the backplate of my phone so I can test and remove thr battery cable to quickly reboot when it's stuck or looping. I have no problem with it since my screen broke I also took twrp backups incase it's needed. The sony threads are just too empty

As said by @Tahsin88 he have forwarded sources code links to me, very big thanks to him :good:. Until now I worked with Elephone P9000 sources code as base and it was good on Marshmallow but for Nougat it uses a lot of files from MM and it's not good. New sources are even better to build Nougat based roms, I have to port them to XA and start building. It will takes some time but it's on the good way

I worked on dt2w P9000 is not good because needed files are already compiled, I need original .c and .h but they are already compiled in .o so it's like some already chewed food and I can't port the patch from it. I tried with an other patch but it doesn't work because some kernel definitions are different in the code and I'm not good enough to correct this. I think that if I can find the same thing in a 3.18 kernel it will works.
Good news for you, all this work and rom building are made on a F3211 device Now I have this one and a F3112 (XA), I work on it because the XA Ultra community thanked me more than the XA community for my work on Nougat so for me it's normal to work on XAU first and later on XA
