1. Softkeys ( Menu and Home ) starting to auto-press today suddenly for no reason. Before you ask , I don't droped my phone or any type of shock !
2. After some time sofkeys ( Menu and Home ) stop working at all ! They don't even light out if I'm trying to press them... Although the 'Back' key is working perfectly fine.. :/
These problem solve magically after one restart but after few minutes they still persist ! Sometimes working fine , sometimes autopressing or not working at all and after a while working again.. :/
Anyone else had this problem too or know how to fix it ? ( if it's even possible to fix )
P.S. I don't think that's an Software problem , I think that's an Hardware problem tho...
EDIT : My 'Menu' and 'Home' buttons are officially dead now... R.I.P. !
I have the same problem... After updatee from 7.1.3 to 7.5.1 and to 8.0.1. I tried with custom ROM, with stop Tapatalk... But without success. I tried also with another launcher and they start to work for only 10 minutes.. tried also with wipe cache! This is very big problem

That's not a Software problem , that's a Hardware problem...
In my case all started yesterday... Menu and Home keys started to autopress/not working and until night they stopped working at all , completely dead ! That happened suddenly , I never had that problem or have dropped my phone , never !
Also I read that many Xiaomi have this problem including Redmi Note 3 and even Mi5
R.I.P. Soft keys !
Now they work again after whole day that they don't worked at all now suddenly starting to autopress again and works pressing them :/ They worked again ( including autopressing ) just for few minutes and then not working again..
I'm starting not to understand this device at all !

Acutally it's software problem... I'm sure because when i deinstall Taptalck updates, they start work correctly for around 15-40 minutes. After that they just died. After install new launcher (from Gplay) they start to work again. So im pretty sure that, this is software problem... But from MIUI dont care about our problems

I don't know... I'm using exactly the same apps like always , never had that problem ever with any ROM... Last night I flashed Stable 8.0.2.0 , they worked for few minutes and then dead again !
I still think that's an Hardware problem , but I really hope I'm wrong and you're right to be a Software problem..
If was harfwer problem, when we make clean instal, we sshould have the same problem without any reaction of the button...

Yeah.. but my keys today start to work again.. and again stopped 2 times. Now work correctly. I think it's software problem

Exactly same problem for me. Sometimes it start to work ( very rare ) or auto press but I disabled Menu and Home buttons because it's annoying to get out of app because autopress.. Have you tried to flash latest fastboot ROM ? If it's from software that should solve it..
Or this problem its in the kernel of Miui... I dont know, how to check. But i buy new display, and nie im waiting for it. When i change My display will text you

I thought buying new LCD too but it takes too long to deliver and I read some bad reviews about them : not original , dead pixels , crash during transport , etc. I'm thinking buying a new device maybe...
Anyway I'm really curious about your new LCD , so please tell me when it arrive and how it works :fingers-crossed:

I had the same problem. If you are using custom rom, you can activate on screen home button and disable softkeys, this may help for a while.
But it still will make some phantom touch on your screen. Finally I sent to repair and they changed another screen for me
Hello dear friend! I changed my display... And now everything is good. Buttons work properly. And I have good news for you. I just finished with one test: I put the old screen again on the phone and now the buttons work again... I just heating up the display when I was removed the old screen. U can try to heat up your phone on the button of the screen with hairdryer gently. Or just disassembly your phone and assembly again if u have any questions I'm here
@vetefan I already disabled Home and Menu buttons because it was really annoying to always get out of apps suddenly without pressing anything !

Few weeks ago I opened my device to clear dust in front camera and also I cleared everything in it including a bit display stuff ( you can't really clean too much display because it's one piece ). I'll try heating soft buttons with hairdryer and see if it works. One question : this heating solved the problem definitely or just for a temporary period ?

Hi guys , had a weird problem with my end call/power button.
Out of no where my end call button stopped working. I've found its most annoying because i usually press it to turn the screen off ( lock the screen)
The button doesnt appear to be broken or anything and doesnt work when i press hard
I did a software factory reset this morning via the phone and the button started working again! but its gone 3 hours later again!
I havent recently installed anything and it appeared out of the blue... any help??!
Same problem here! Nothing helped, hard reset, another custom rom, back to stock rom and radio...nothing. Hardware failure, I suspect. Sending it back to factory under warranty. Never had a hardware problem before in 12 yrs using mobile phones.
kinda fixed it now, dont know how though, did a hard rest and formatted mem card, removed everything and didnt reinstall half the stuff i used to have inc all the cabs from here.
its working now on the new rom just fine, but its the first time its happened to me too, and i didnt even do anything !
try a hard reset and wipe and reinstall youre old cabs at ure own risk!

Same happens for me too, not all endkey, but my home key is started to work as call key, back and windows key started to work as volume up key.

the better way i think u should try another ROM cook ( CM7 or any ROM ... ) so it's changing the lock type ! try to clean your screen ! sometime i got the same problem with my Mt15i
Is it only when charging? If you use an aftermarket charger, the touchscreen can go mad.
If it's happening when you're charging the AC adapter, but not the PC, it's just the adapter. I never had this issue until I got Xperia phones. Never happened on my G1.

I have installed the widgetlocker ... and it is almost the same ..... soemtimes works better than the natural one
If you've rooted the phone (i didn't quite understand from the OP) and you're using setCPU or something similar, make sure you haven't set the MHz too low on a ScreenOff profile. I had that happen to me sometimes until a raised it a bit.
Download Sony Ericsson Update Service and choose repair current installation.
it has fixed alone :S at least now it works perfectly without resetting :S
the only thing xtrange i have done is to install the widget locker and it has detected that it is unregistered he has "autoremove" and now ... it works perfectly ......

It's my first time posting a problem cause I used to find my answers in others topics, thanks to your efforts. But sadly I didn't find a solution for this problem.
I have a galaxy s2 GT-I9100, It was working greatly, but for the last 3 weeks, once I turne the wifi on, the phone slows down immediatly. And when I turn the wifi off again, it goes back to its normal stat.
I tried at first a factory reset .. It didn't work.
I flashed the ROM with an official JB .. It seems working for a few days, but now the problem is back again.
To give you more details : when I turn the wifi on, the menu start "lugging", and when I use the virtual keyboard, when I click on a character, it stay clicked for a long time, and if I want for example to delete a letter, the backspace button stay in hold, until it delets many lines of the text.
And many other things !
I wish that you can help me fix that.

Probably apps waking up and syncing when they're told by Android that there's a network connection.

I don't think so .. cause all the apps I have are regular apps : Viber, Skype, etc.
It's NOT a hw (hardware) problem.
Any app that accesses the internet WILL attempt to sync when a connection is available.....even those that don't normally use it could.....just to check for updates....
Take the sync advice...it's more possible....
Temporarily disable sync before enabling wi fi and see if you notice any lag then....I bet it will be minimal.
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right

I disabled the sync, but I don't think it helped a lot .. Maybe a tiny bit, and thanks for that, but the phone still slow .. For example I still have that keyboard issu .. do you suggest any other tips to do ?
My kids have cheapo generic android tablets......if they start lagging or doing weird s**t, I boot the tabs into recovery and wipe cache and dalvic......that usually helps.......

It seems to be working for sometime .. But I think It was an illusion .. The phone is still terribly slow when all the time my wifi is on ..
I confirm that I have Viber and Skype and Telegram installed, but they were there since I bought the phone ..

i have them too but the phone is so fast i advise you to go to clean master and ther memory boost and select all the apps to free memory and create a widget of memory boost on the screen from apps widgets and search for clean master memory boost and since you see that your phone becomes slow click on the widget :good:

But i cannot do anything, I can lock or unlock but game is still " running " Sounds coming when i press camera button, I cant turn it off or anything..... :S Wtf should i do ? i saw this same problem elsewhere, the user had to send to sony repair as it happened to be a manufacturing issue
try using repair in sony pc companion one time to see if it fixes it, if it still has a dead acreen then try contacting sony service centre

i solved the issue... byt holding power & volume , then it vibrated 3 times then worked as before, I did a reset of the phone, Havent tryed the phone on gaming after that yet.. But hopefully it was a one time thing :S pc companion ??

Phone freezes while using whatsapp
Hi,
I bought a new Sony Xperia Z2 and installed whatsapp on it. In the beginning there were no issues, but eventually, while using whatsapp the phone started freezing and everytime I have to hard shutdown inorder to get the phone back online to work normally. This only happens when I use whatsapp. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Is there a way to overcome this issue? Please suggest a work around. I have a Lenovo z2 plus whose bootloader I recently unlocked, installed twrp, installed viper os (android - 7.1.2) and rooted it. whenever I try to use my phone (since the last evening) , the touch works for about 2 seconds and then stops working(every time) . I was thinking it might be a software/rom issue but when I close the Screen and before opening I keep my thumb at the portion near the front camera/speaker part pressed and then open the phone, then the touch works fine till I remove my thumb from there. When I remove my thumb, then again the touch stops working. Then to make the touch work for more than 2 sec again , I need to shut the screen off and do the thumb thing again. Due to this I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue but it were a hardware issue, then why does the touch stop working exactly about after 2 seconds without the thumb thing and touch starts working every time I open the screen with the thumb thing again till the time I remove it . And due to that timing thing it seems like it might be a software issue. All the other buttons are working perfectly. I really don't want the factory reset the phone till it's really necessary due to all the data and stuff. Can anyone please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.

Are you able to fix permanently? I tried to hold between speaker and front camera but not seeing that touch is working. Can you please share some pic pointing where exactly to touch? Also are you pressing hard or lightly? Please share how to do that?
Also later are you able to resolve the issue? Did you change digitizer etc. Did it worked normally? Please let me know.

Workaround
I tried one workaround indicated by someone else on another thread. Follow below steps
Press power button to put screen off
Hold phone in left hand and put left thumb on screen
Press power button to start screen
Touch with right hand fingers
It will work till left thumb is there on screen..
If touch is lost follow from step one
Atleast this helps alot instead of only 2-3secs stuff..

As said in above post, please follow workaround if you are getting issue still.
For my case after couple of days, it started working normally. Sometimes that issue comes again, but i use workaround to use the phone.
I have the same issue! Please provide where you found this solution and workaround. Did you have to change screen?
