Quickcharge Issues - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Anyone else having any problems with charging? My supplied QC 3.0 charger has developed issues - it usually charges OK, but if it has been recently used it seems to completely stop working for a while. I think that's a problem with the charger rather than the phone because when it stops working it also won't charge other devices. I also have a problem with an Aukey QC3.0 power bank that I recently bought. It charges my phone fine if I turn off fast charging in battery settings on the phone, but if fast charging is on it only charges while the screen is on. As soon as the screen goes off, it completely stops charging (and the lock screen comes back on).
Both the above problems have occurred regardless of which ROM I have installed.
Edit: power bank is actually working now, but that might be because phone battery is already over 90% so it is not trying to draw fast charge levels of current. Will have to try again when the battery is below 70%.

Hello. My phone is also fast charging only while screen is off but it's rather normal. The first issue I did not encounter. I have so far only supplied charger. Of course quick charging works more efficiently at lower levels of battery. I have a USB meter that shows max about 21 Watts approx 7.8 V x 2.8 A.

My phone is NOT fast charging with the screen off using the Aukey power bank.

Oh, I missed this info. How do you recognize fast charging? I observed that it works a little bit differently while in TWRP, less aggressive.

Don't think there is any way to know what kind of charging it is doing on this phone (unlike my Zenfone 2, which tells you both on the status bar battery icon and with a verbose message on the lock screen). My problem with the power bank is that if fast charging is enabled in the phone settings, it won't charge at all once the screen goes off.

Just confirmed that with the phone battery at about 40% and fast charging enabled, the power bank is unable to charge the phone (stops a couple of seconds after the screen goes off). I tried charging my Zenfone 2 with it (QC 2.0 compatible) and it fast charges properly. This suggests there is some problem with my phone (or the Le Max2 generally?) rather than the power bank

Not seen it, but I'd hazard a guess that our phone is not on the list? Anyway, I think the included LeEco charger (mine at least) has issues, and given the fast charging incompatability with my Aukey power bank, I am thinking the QC 3.0 charging on the phone is not following standards correctly. My after-market QC 2.0 charger, however, works flawlessly with the phone - so if buying after-market chargers or power banks I guess it is safer to stick to QC 2.0 certified ones instead of 3.0, or alternatively just stick to regular slow charging.

Unfortunately you are wrong. My phone Le 2 Max is certified QC 3.0 among very few devices. Majority is still QC 2.0.

Unfortunately, you are right, probably the phone only supports Quick charge 2.0, in web specifications I only found QC 2.0 support. But this don't explain this problem with stop charging when screen goes off
So, I have one Aukey charger compatible with 3.0 too, and I am waiting only my le max 2 arrive for test. In next 10 days I will back here and tell you what happened!

Did you guys ever suspect the cable?
My wife's S6Edge+ had suddenly started to charge very slow with the original charger and cable. After reading on the specific forum, few others were complaining of the same and as a result, she changed the cable with an older Sony cable which worked perfectly. No mater what, the original cable was charging the phone slow if not fast charge which was fast as before.

I have the problem with the power bank whether I use the cable that came with the phone or the cable that came with the power bank. Neither will charge the phone with quick charging enabled and the screen off.

The longer the cable, the less power will perform.. thats useally the case.
same with wire thickness in the cable, some of these extreme cheap cables on AliE got such crappy thinmetal-wires in the cable that it can not transfer all that power it should and will act like a bottleneck.
*the same with these intelligent powercables, that either cuts off when phone is filled, or show a sign like an light-diode in USB plug that are changing colors to tell that the battery is full. (close to all of such intelligent cables ewen some of the high qual-ones, are extrenely limited in power-drawing and most cant ewen manage 1.5amp in std 5v USB and most are under 1.0amp in the amount of power these cable can deliver, and often some plug-cirquit inside the cable there is limiting the amp quite a bit, and so the cable is able to sense when the battery if full and give signal.
Same with those cables where there is an ampmeter/voltmeter on the cable itself, those cables is also strugling to deliver more then +1amp.
that is all in regards tojust plain 5v and it just get ewen worse when trying to perfom quick-charge currents..
Not sure what cable your trying on, but if your going around the original, its good money to purchase an good plain QCvalid USBcable without features from an brand there is known for being able to deliver the power, the 18watt QC in theory can perform is quite a bit and need some metalwiring for the power to flow .

Not charging at all
Hi, I have a problem with charging my Lemax 2. I found similar issues described on other forums, even on youtube.
Long story short: it won't charge, LED blinks twice when on charger, then stops.. Tried different cgargers, cables- nothing works.
Any ideas?

Slow charging with phone turned On

Hello dear fellows- i am facing a very strange issue on my lg g5 (850).
I have a third party charger (Aukey QC 2.0) with a usb A to Usb Type C cable. This charger never failed me once on any of my Samsung phones. Quick charging always worked as it should but with lg g5 its charging speed is very slow. According to Ampere app its just 310 mA. After connecting this charger it even shows fast charging notification but fast charging is not there.
Today i've decided to charge it after turning it off completely and guess what... It was charging really fast as it should while turned On.
Now i am confused whether it's LG's software which is preventing 3rd party cables/chargers to charge fast while turned On or is it something else.
Any input guys or similar experience?

It's always possible an app is using a lot of battery while you're charging. So the phone charges slower. Question though, why don't you just use the provided charger from LG?

Unfortunately, the LG charger was lost last week during my travel so by chance I had this Aukey charger lying around which is Quick Charge 2.0 supported so i am trying to accomplish the original results with it until i'll get my hands on a QC 3.0 compatible charger.
Hm, my Aukey Quickcharge car charger even works fine with my phone.
Make sure you aren't using the phone while charging it, it will always charge much slower.
I have some doubts on my data cable. Will try to swap it with another one and will test again.

I can confirm that the LG software does not prevent fast charge with 3rd party chargers and cables.
I'm using a 3rd party QC 3 charger with a 3rd party cable, and fast charging is working just fine when phone is powered on.
And in Battery Monitor Widget I can see that it actually is fast charging and is using QC 3 to throttle charging amperage.
However I've experienced a couple of times, when changing cable in the charger, that it wouldn't fast charge. It was solved by removing the cable from the charger and connect it again, and then it works just fine afterwards.

Seems like slow charging has something to do with the heat/temperature of the battery or overall phone. If i try to charge it when the battery temps are around 30 then it charges really fast but if the temp is above 30 then software somehow restricts the fast charging to avoid any damages.
I am not sure if the above analysis is valid but my observation has lead me to this point only so far.

I learned 2 things from my testing using ampere and a drok USB current meter:
First, ampere isn't really that accurate when it comes to this phone and charging currents. It was consistently about 200mah off.
Secondly if the phone is even somewhat warm, it will limit the charge current to ~300 mah with the screen on. However if you turn the screen off, it returns to full charging speed (1.8 amps in the case of my charger) I think it is some sort of thermal throttle to keep the battery from getting too hot.

That really is frustrating. I always see fast charging when plugged in, although it definitely is not fast at all if you are using it or have the screen on .
Are you plugged into a wall outlet directly? Not an extension cord? Sounds like a warranty replacement may be in order, it's possible there's something faulty with your USB C connector.
Have I not voided warranty with unlock? thanks
Tried with xiaomi charger and it works, no joy with original.
Must be faulty lg charger using same cable
I have LG G4 and I was facing the exact same problem. The phone would charge very slow while screen was on. Once I let the screen go off the phone charged at the expected rate. It seems LG is incorporating some serious throttling in their phones.

I think you can not fast charge while the phone is turned off. Maybe someone can start another thread where we can compare battery logs because this will help to see the amount of time used for charging. Is there any way of seeing if the device is using QC 2 or 3?
LG G5 on 7.0
I just got a Warranty phone because of GPS pins lost contact with case. Now I'm getting the slow charge message. I just found if I flipped the USB C over it fast charges. Just thought I would share though doubt y'all wouldn't have learned this by now with all of the testing you've done already.

I experienced that too. Isn't it strange?
Also, I experience with some chargers, the phone will just start charging for some seconds and then act as if the cable was unplugged and then start charging again. I don't know why. Anyone experiencing this too? In this case, it didn't help to flip the cable...
So disappointed with my G5 now.
Was great to start with now it's slow charge. Got new batteries but the same. Will charge off till about 5/6% then switch on. Lovely phone now just useless. Even got the phone and amp modules. Lol

This is a problem with the make of the charger. I have some Choetech QC chargers, and the programming in the QC is faulty. Some safety mech kicks in, turns off the charger, then turns back on again, over and over. I have some Tronsmart chargers and there is no issue. Of course, the OEM LG one works fine too.

Le Max 2 Doesn't charge

Hii.
I have a problem. I installed Madsurfer ROM. I had a problem with charging battery, l left phone for few hours and it doesn't charge full. Next i installed stock china ROM. Problem still remain. But now phone doesn't charge anymore. When i connect cable LED notification lamp shows for 1 second and turns off. As well battery indicator. I don't know what's happened :/
Edit. Now i have 18% battery and "Low battery level" on the notification bar. When i plug cable, phone doesn't charging but "Low battery level" indicator disappeared. It could be software problem or hardware? USB port works cause i can connect phone with computer and copy stuff but phone doesn't charging as well.
Edit 2. I turned off phone and plug charger, LED notification is on, on the screen battery indicator shows charging , but it's 15% and it don't going up.
It can be a software issue, however, it can be your charger, i know it'll sound ridiculous, but you should check that the usb is well connected to the wall charger ( this happened to me one time, and i thought my phone had the problem indeed it wasn't lol)
Otherwise try charging it with another charger or try installing mokee rom and checking by yourself either it is a software or hardware issue.
Try with other cable!

Try other cable and other charger, read the specification on the leeco charger and buy another or try one that you already have in the house
i tried another charger adapter from my old phone LG, the same problem. I haven't different USB-C cable :/
I'm the friend mentioned above. I had the EXACT same problem as you. It's cable related 100%
You must find a high quality cable that supports quick charging and try. Go to a shop and try before you buy.
Good luck!

+1 for the cable. after troubleshooting for a couple days and trying various adapters, it ended up being faulty usb type c cable that came with the phone.
Funny thing is that I have two cables. One came with Le Max 2 and other I bought online after very high reviews. Both charges very well. USB debugging only works with LeEco cable though. I can copy stuff from both cables but If i need to burn roms I need LeEco Cable only. USB debugging does not work with third party cable.

Fast Charge issue

Was planning on using the fast charger that came with my S6 Active to keep at work. It still fast charges my S6 but when I use it with my S9 it only slow charges. I've checked the markings on the charger and they are exactly the same as on the charger that came with my S9 even down to the model number except for 1 thing. One says made in China and the other says made in Vietnam.
The fact that the old one still fast charges my S6 to me rules out the charger being faulty. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Ive been experiencing the same problem with my Mi power bank 2i.
When i connect it to S9 plus ots gives Fast charging message and then turns to cable charging.
I hope they rectify it in a patch.
This is ridiculously bad as i travel a lot and only depend on power babk 2i as it fast charges all samsung phones.
Any1 else having same problem ?
The charger that came with my S7 fast charges the S9+ without any issue, as does the 3rd party car charger I'm using. Does the one that came with you S9 fast charge properly? Are you using the cable that came with your S9 with the old charger?
I have a ton of chargers. The one that came with my nexus 6, my ATT prime time tablet, and my LG v20 and LG v495 tablet all fast charge my 9+. They are all Qualcomm fast charge 2/3. My Anker qc3 does fast charging as well. Variety of cables, some generic, some LG.
If I think of it when I get home I'll check my power bank. It's a qc 3.0 and is a 10k mah I think. Was 20ish dollars on Amazon.

Yep, the charger that came with my S9+ works perfectly, and yes I am using the cable that came with my S9+
I have the same issue with an ANKER charger and CHOETECH cable that was working perfectly with my S8+...
i charged the my s9+ after draining it completely without powering it ON.
Charged in 100mins.
The progress was like 15 mins -24%,45 mins - 60%, 80 mins - 90%, this is the first time i was able to charge it quickly.
I was very disappointed with charging time but this is third cycle, so i am sure its learning the way we use.
I charged it with QC3.0 charger
I will be posting more about this.
I think I have a Fast Charge problem with my AT&T branded S9+. Fast charging displays when I use the included cable and wall adapter and even if I use the included wall adapter and any of These Aukey Cables. But if I use those cables or even the cable included with the phone with This Aukey QC 3.0 Car Charger or This Anker QC 3.0 Power Bank I cannot get Fast Charging to display. Yes Fast Charging is enabled in Battery --> advanced. It worked for the first couple days with all combinations but now its as described. Even did a factory reset last night and restored from my previous phone's Google Backup which I did not do the first time (used Smart Switch the initial startup on launch day and only moved a few things over) Should I swap the phone out for another?
Im getting the same issue when using Aukey power bank. It does not fast charge my S9+. Works perfectly on S7 and S8. Do you guys have any luck?

Most of my cables are Choetech brand from Amazon. Every single QC 2.0 charger fast charges my s9+
Just throwing this out there to rule it out, you can enable/disable wireless charging in the Advanced Features, Accessories section, check it's on.
Same here? Is this a bug introduced by a firmware update? Why aren't enough ppl talking about it

Need Clarification On Fast Chargers

I now have a couple Qualcomm 3.0 fast chargers, the fast charger from my LG G5, and the One plus fast charger. Only the One plus charger indicates that the 6T is quick charging. My question is if the other fast chargers are still faster to charge this phone than a standard charger.

This link explains it well: https://m.androidcentral.com/dash-charge
They will charge faster than an old .5 amp you may have kicking around in a drawer. Realistically they will charge fast enough because how often do you need every drop you can get as quickly as possible? On the occasions you do need that you just take it to the dash charger and all is good. It's not just me saying that, there was a thread on a previous OnePlus device where someone else said what I just did and the agreement was unanimous. I couldn't argue it myself, I had found just the same to be true; I was typically in no hurry to charge the device and when I was I just made a point of going to the dash charger. I'm not sure what your use case is but if it was to go all dash all the time you may want to consider waiting a little and seeing how it plays out in use. I think you'll find your ok with just the one that came in the box or getting a second for the office or cart and calling it a day.
Someone not only do you need the charger you need the cable to? That wasn't explained in the article. Can you clarify?

You're probably not going to see the term "Dash Charge" anywhere, since OnePlus stopped using the phrase.
Whether they replaced it w/something else to indicate fast charging is anyone's guess (if there was any indication of Dash (fast) charging on previous OnePlus devices).

You will see a lightning bolt in place for the battery icon when Dash Charging is active, and if you plug in the Dash charger while on the lock screen, it will also make a short blip noise with an animated lightning bolt. Standard chargers and/or cables will show the lightning bolt inside the battery icon. You can always look at the charger current using the *#808# menu though.
Wait does the cable really matters? from the article linked, looks like the tech is only in the adapter
It matters because if you don't use one designed for it you wont get Dash charging, and yeah, its irritating that we have drawers full of cables that we cant use. As to the question of how you can tell, it says "Rapidly charging" on the lock screen. You'll also notice the phone gets charged stupidly fast, that's a big tell.

Yes it does. Pushing 4 amps to get more watts requires low resistance cables, otherwise the resistance will limit maximum wattage. With QuickCharge (instead of DASH charge) voltage is raised instead of current, mitigating the resistance problem.
For QuickCharge there also a handshake telling both the phone and charger that both devices support a certain charging standard. Only then current (or voltage) is raised above normal USB levels. Otherwise you would risk destroying devices which are not capable of fast charging.

Tragic...I invested a lot into my PD chargers for my 2xl guess I need to update everything again
But do you? How often do you NEED dash charge? You can still use all the other charges, they just won't charge as fast, but that's not a bad thing if you are not in a hurry.
The Dash charger works the fastest, however my Quick Charge 3.0 car and wall chargers are still delivering 2 to 3 times more m to my OneTouch 6T then my Galaxy 8 (Rated for Quick Charge 2.0) ever took, that is using higher end usb-c cables but not the Dash cables.
The Highest I ever saw my s8 take was 1300 mA, this 6T will take 2300 mA from my QC 3.0 car charger and 3200 mA from my QC 3.0 wall charger, as long as the battery is under 70%. However, the Dash charger with Dash cable gets around 4800 mA but it seems to fill the battery at a more rapid pace then what I would expect for that amount of power going into it.
The Dash cables have more pins in them to deliver segmented power, at the proper voltage and amperage, to partitioned batteries simultaneously in the 6T without it causing your phone to heat up.

Wireless fast charging not working properly?

Hi!
I just bought a genuine Huawei CP-60 Huawei wireless quick charger which should be able to charge the Mate 20 Pro with 15 Watt. I've connected the wireless charger with the 40 Watt supercharger and original 5A cable.
However, when I place the phone on the charger it says 'wireless quick charging' for around 4/5 seconds and then suddenly it turns to normal 'wireless charging'. What could cause this problem? Now the phone only charges with slow wireless speed, when it should be able to fast wireless charge the phone.
Hi,
I have had some similar issues. I've found that the charger can be quite sensitive and won't charge at full speed if using an extension cable or a multi-plug adapter.
Not the silver bullet you were hoping for I'd guess, but maybe somewhere to start?
Wayne
I am having the same issue, i am guessing that the case may cause the problem but i havent tested without the case yet.
In general i am very disappointed with huawei, hoping to change soon to an s10+.

Thanks, but not the sollution for me. I've tried it with the 40W charger plugged in directly to my wall plug. Still same problem.

I've also tried it without a case. Same problem.
So strange. For 5 seconds it shows 'wireless quick charging' and then suddenly it switches to 'wireless charging'.
I've also had some issues. Changed to a slimmer case to utilize the fast wireless charging. It'll charge some, but not all the time. Always starts. I tried to use it over night and found in the morning the battery was like 65% and the charger was flashing on the LED indicator. Not sure what happens. Maybe I'm bumping it in my sleep? But it seems to be centered.
I have the same issue sometimes. My guess is placement of the Mate is not correct, and then the charger starts with a low charging power and when it tries to increase, it gets issues as the phone is not 100% aligned.
